I have to run a report and email the output for several inputs say around 60. what would be the best way of doing it.

In the first program ..create an internal table with input data and loop that internal table and within the loop call the second program which sends a mail with the input data as selection screen. It may work...

How can I run the report for different input values at the same time?

Reports version: Report Builder 6.0.8.13.1
Oracle version: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0
I want to run the same report for different input parameter values and spool each o/p to different file and ftp to a server. For this, as a first step, I am spooling different input values in to a file, reading those values through a loop and calling the report for that input values. Each report run/execution is taking 15 minutes. Total report execution is taking approximately 4 hours (assuming 16 different input values) to complete. So I have to wait 4 hours to see ALL outputs.
I would like to run the report parallel for ALL the input values and I should be able to see the ALL outputs with in 15 or 16 minutes.
In my shell script, I added & symbol at the end of the report call to start/run the job in the background. Due to this the control passed to the next step after the report call. At this place I have an ftp command to send the output file to a different server and it is giving error some thing like o/p file is not available/created yet". This is due to the fact that report writer is NOT yet completely started/initiated or it is NOT completed the spooling.
How can I run the report at the same time for all the input values and save the time?

Increase the number of server engines running right now it seems there is only one engine running ,increase it to 4 or 6
and then atleast 4 or 6 reports will run simultaneously.
For FTPing the output add to your sript to check whether it is locked and if not then only try to ftp .
Also for more better functionality read the document (chapter 15 ) for 10g reports for its new fuinctionality.

Need to run the report for All Values when Null is passed in parameter

Hi All,
In my BIP report, I am using a parameter :asset with Type as Text, which means user will type the values for the parameter in the text box.
Now, this parameter can take multiple comma separated values. I have a requirement to run the report for All Values when user doesn't enter any value in the parameter text box and if user enters any value(s) then the report will run for those values . The way, I tried to handle that in the query using couple of ways was :
IMP : My Database is SQL Server
where
(table.asset = isnull((:asset), table.asset) or table.asset in (:asset))
Now this works fine when I give a single asset number but when I give multiple values separated by comma like 123, 345 in the text box, then the statement fails saying 'encountered ,'
I also tried simply
table.asset in isnull((:asset),table.asset) -- but this doesn't work as it doesn't allow me to use in operater while using isnull and if i will use = operater then it won't work in case of multiple values
Any suggestions on how can I handle this? Any help would be highly appreciated.

thanks for replying, but i tried this option too, it did not work for me, neither isnull nor coalesce. I mean, the solution work for single value but when i pass multiple values then separated by a comma then it doesn't work and shows me an error like "Incorrect Syntax ','". I am using SQL server as DB and bip is 10.1.3.4.1
also please share the SR number, so i can also check the same.
can there be any other work around to this?

How do you keep a VI running while waiting for user input?

I have a VI that:
1. The user enters set points.
2. The user starts the VI and the VI sends the set points to an external process via a serial interface.
3. The VI stops running.
4 The user waits for the external process to complete.
5. Repeat sequence. Go to Step 1.
This works well except for one small problem. Starting the VI in step 2 causes an external micro controller to reset. During the reset it will ignore set point commands. To get around this problem a delay has been added between when the VI opens the serial port and when the VI sends the set points to the external process Is it possible to keep a VI running continuously in this type of application, thereby eliminating the start up and shut down of the serial interface?
If yes, how do you keep a VI running while waiting for user input?

How do I run a report in ME2N, where I would want to see all the Blanket POs (Framework Orders) that has a "Actual Value" (the amt invoiced so far) which is Greater than the Overall Limit (specified in the "Limits" tab)?
Are there any fields in the Dynamic Selection in ME2N? I coudn't Find any......How can I compare two fields in the Blanket PO, for example "Overal Limit' > "Actual Value"?? How to put this selection criteria in ME2N

You will not get this information via ME2N but you can get via ME2S
once you execute the ME2S you will see the PO lines and if oyu double click on it than you will get the all information you are looking but the exact query directly not possible with ME2S
The best way is write the query using table ESUH and EKPO
joint EKPO to ESUH and do the query based on your requirements.
you can get the package number from EKPO and based on the package number you can retrive the data form ESUH table

Running GR55 reports for special periods

When running GR55 reports, the selection field for "Period" only lists periods 1 to 12. We are using the standard K4 FI year variant.
Can someone tell me how to get the 4 special periods displayed for selection?

The drop down in the "To" field only lists periods 001 to 012, but it lets you manually enter other periods such as 14 or 16.
So you are not limited by the periods displayed in the drop down box.

Retired asset - cannot run standart report for closed fical year

Hi there,
I was just wondering how to run standart asset report (Y_T11_68000004, AR02) for closed fiscal year in case of the asset was retired during this year.
As I know report can be run only with last date of closed fiscal year (12/31/200x) otherwise got message AU116. But when I have asset retired i.e. in 30/10/200x the report for this year is empty and cant see the movements data.
Any ideas? Maybe some settings for asset history report, or is there another report for movements for previous years.... ?

start the asset history sheet, there you can see all information.
Alternative is to create an own query on logical database in SQ01.

Problems running a report for one specific customer

We have a portal where our external customer are login in using their customer number together with a pw. When logged inn they are running a specific report (custom made). Our issue today is that the customers have access to all other customers, thereby able to run reports for other customers as well. We want to set a parameter id so the report is locked only to the logged in customer. Anyone know how we can to this?

It all depend on your custom made report. WHat has it been developed in. Is it an ABAP report/BI Report.
Make sure your report accepts say eg a Customer Id parameter. Then we can create a wrapper iview to pass the Customer Id.

Time Out error problem when i run the report for the whole plant

2..first of all dont delete a record inside the loop. instead use the Field symobols.

Don't have to run the report for no prompt value

Hi,
The requirement is that I need to create a report which is more of a search report kind of thing. So on the dashboard we need to show only prompts. The users would choose any prompt and run the report.....now the issue is....that when no prompt values is selected and user hit the GO button ..i need to show a message saying "Please select any value" ...how to do that ..
I have already refered kishore's blog on guided navigation to implement this ..but the issue which I am facing is that my intermediate report is taking too much time (almost 10 mins) to come back with values and then my actual report shows the message thorugh No results view ...but i need to load the messsage to the dashboard in not more that 1 mins ...how to do that .....
any help would be much appreciated ....

Thanks Kishore, but I have already refered your blog and implemented this approach as I have mentioned above, however, the issue is that my intermediate report in which I am using the dummy filter is taking too much time to run ...like 10 mins...so guided navigation doesn't work properly ....I have almost 15 prompts so it is taking time ..is there any other work around ?

Error in running Jasper Reports for more than 100 users in stress test

I have created a web application with Jasper reports. during the stress test, we were able to run the same report simultaneously for 100 concurrent users, after that we get the following error. I hope there is no problem in my code (correct me if i am wrong)

ummm seems odd to have 100 users making a report.. that can be the limitation of your application..

Report assignments in COPA report for several years

Hello
I have a COPA report, which contains of data for 2 or more years.
I have setup a report assignment, so it is possible to step into a FI document from the 'Ref doc number' characteristic in the report. Unortunately it does not always finds the right document if I haven't first drilled down on 'Fiscal year' in the report.
Does anybody know, whether it is possible to avoid and instead alway find the document in the right year?

Hi Vivek,
KE30 is a Transaction code. If you want to copy a Report associated with this Transaction code then go to transaction code KE30 Provide the data a initial screen. Then go to Utilities->status. A popup screen will be displayed. In SAP data tab There is a field called Program. Copy that program name & go to transaction code SE80 & provide the program name & go for display. Here all the related screens, fields, tables etc. will be displayed then right click on the program name & select copy & provide the target program name starting from Z. Save & activate it.
Note you can copy the standard program & copy it also but I think it will not take place the standard porgram, you will have to run the progam manually.
I think BADI or BTE may be available for this transaction.

Reports for several projects

Hi,
I developed some reports to show the distribution of resources against duration. Previously, I used the output as ASCII text file and then make an Excel spreadsheet / histogram with the results.
Scenario is:
1- I have several projects which I want to report the distro. of resources on
2- I want to show the distro. of qty. against duration sorted by projects in the same report, i.e. currently the units are shown as 1 single row / month summed for all open projects
Is it possible?

In P6, Under Reports, I look under the "Open Projects" heading, and then "Resource Usage", I start with the canned report RL-06. This is a weekly report, but you only need to adjust the timescale to show daily instead of weekly. In the Report Wizard, not Report Editor, Under the "Group and Sort" Button, it should give you the option to group by "Project" (no "S"). This should fix your issue.
