Running a Report Script outside EAS

I have some users who would like to run a predefined report script by themselves. Is there a way to do this without giving them access to EAS? Running 11.1.2 , ASO

Dear ODI experts,
I have Installed 10.1.3.4.0 ---> selected "Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle Data Profiling, Oracle Data Quality 10.1.3.4.0" ---> Complete (1012MB)
- follow all steps of "Design a Name and Address Cleansing Project" section in Sample Tutorial
- in "Oracle DQ User Interface", right click Projects->Quality->customer master[1]
- select "Run" from the context menu
- the background tasks completed 100% properly
- export the project as a Batch Script
- make changes to config.txt, runProjectN.cmd, and *.stx files following as specified in the Sample Tutorial document
- at step 13-f, got the following errors by executing runProjectN.cmd

Solution:
Needs to modify "e9_tranfrmr_p3.stx" to point to "e6_nomatch_globrtr_p2_us.dat".

Seems to be the DRM service went down, try running the batch after stopping & restarting the service.

Running a perl script outside local directory

so i have been trying to write a java program that calls a certain perl script "helloworld.pl" using the runtime.exec method.
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("perl helloworld.pl");the problem comes in when i attempt to run a helloworld.pl that is not in the local directory.
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("perl C:/helloworld.pl");how would i properly execute the line of code above?

Use of Essbase substitution variables in filename of a MaxL report script

Hey guys.
Is there a way that I can embed the value of one or more Essbase substitution variables in the filename of a report script in a MaxL command?
I'm running a report script that uses sub. vars for entities and accounts and based on which of those members are set in the variables I want the filenames to include those member names. I'm looking for a way to include the &varName in the filename using the export database command.

If you want to do a lot of string mangling in a script outside of the report script, you can use DISPLAY VARIABLE:
MAXL> display variable CurMo;

Is it possible to create create user defined variables in report script?

You can't use an Essbase report script to set a substitution variable.
You can set it in EAS or use MaxL (or Esscmd) to do so.

Essbase Report Script

Hi Experts,
I am trying to run a report script which comprises of 5 Link statements (I have 10 dimensions in my cube) and when I run the script through EAS I see there are 5 sessions getting started consecutively after every 5 min's and the script is taking some 35 min's to run but I am not get the output text file at my selected location.

No there's no partition connections neither we are using against the target cube.
We are not using any syntax for output file, when we run the script in EAS it prompts with a dialog box wherein we select the output file path and in text format.

Strange character in report script unload file.

I have an Essbase Report script I’m using to create an unload file of my Essbase Data.
Ever time I run the report script and open the file it has this character on the first line of the file ï»¿

Set file path in report scripts

Hi All,
Is it possible to set the file path to save the extracted data in report scripts, if so please let me know how to do it.
We can choose the path when executing the script in script editor but how to set the file path in the script itself.

You cannot set in in the report script itself.
But rather you can set the output file and path where the output should be extracted.
1. When you manually run from EASS console, you can specify the path and the file name
2. When you use Maxl to run a report script, you can specify.

I have a report script that runs fine on version 7 essbase and later when we migrated the cube to essbase 11.1.1.1 and when i run the report script i get the fillowing erro message

Optimize report script having many Link statements

Hi,
I have a report script in Essbase which uses around 10 <Link statements to extract level 1 entity members from decendants of specific entity members and around 8 <Link statements to extract level 0 account members from decendants of specific account members. I observed that this report script takes almost 10 to 12 hours to execute. After some investigation I found out that ideally a report script should have maximum 5 <Link statements defined; in case if there are more than 5 <Link statements the report script would run very slow.
Following is excerpt from my report script:

You state 10 but show six. Which is it?
As for performance, if you make it just one Entity dimension LINK statement, is it fast?
Following on that, have you tried breaking the report into multiple report scripts? If they are individually faster, you could just concatenate the output files through an OS batch script. The thought of 10 individual report scripts (although I suppose we are potentially talking about more than that but I can't tell based on the information you've provided) could be complicated, but it might be worthwhile from a prototyping perspective.
Have you tried joining them together with a "!" statement. <--What that means is you write a report script and terminate it with a !. Then write another, similar report script and stick a ! on it. And again, and again, etc. Essbase reads to the ! and then goes to the next report script.

11.1.1.3 ASO report script in maxl

I am attempting to run a report script in a maxl script. Its erroring put on 'using'.
This is the command i tried:
export database sample.basic using report_file 'EssbaseServer\\App\\Sample\\Basic\\asym.rep' to data_file 'c:\\home\\month2.rep';
I even tried to use SERVER.... report_file....
I tried to use the full server path d:\\hyperion\\.... Although its erroring out on ['using'].
Any ideas?

Part of the reason this didn't work in the first place was
example: export database sample.basic using server report_file 'asym' to data_file 'c:\home\month2.rep';
in difference to the example above I had this (see the ALL CAPS)
export database sample.basic DATA using server report_file 'asym' to data_file 'c:\home\month2.rep';
on error to ....
So I had some excess information it didn't need. Now the production is working but I get that error in my last post on the Development server batch.

Executing migration scripts outside of OMWB

I'm getting an SP2-0027 error (input > 2499 characters) when trying to execute some of the migration script produced by OMWB. I'm using SQL*Plus Worksheet. OMWB will create the stored procedure or function in the Oracle DB, so the syntax is OK. Is there a different way to run the migration script outside of OMWB to get around the SQL*Plus line limit?

My requirment is to run oracle dev 10.1.2 report (rdf) file though a script and the output pdf file would be generated in a folder without open in browser.

Report script hanging

Hi Gurus,
The issue is I created two report scripts one using Query designer and the other manually.
I'm creating a report script to export current period data against ASO.
I know the optimization basics against BSO.
Placing last dim fisrt and all!!
coming to the ASO......
my Report script is hanging at the time of validation itself!!!
it is showing when there are some errors in the report script.
I don't see any thing but EAS hanging when i thought that they were no errors.
the idea is to export the level0 data and relaod with #mi values to load new set of data for the current period.
What are the steps to follow to optimize it in ASO.
I know we need to increase agg chache, retrieval buffer, sort retrieval..!!
what next!!
I know we can also use slices to get rid of previous data (deleting old slice) and creating new one.
but currently we are implementing this way!!
suggestions please....

I'm in ASO!! so calculations are not possible.
here is one more question!!! may be I need to post it seperately. (but I don't want my questions unanswered :) )!!
I tried to do level 0 export from ASO and it failed telling that the member combinations exceeded 2^64 (this is part of our cube!! want it in column format).
As per my knowledge, the option I have are.
1. chop the report script in to smaller report scripts and run it (may be I need to chop like 100 to 1000 times not sure!!)
2. will MDX query effectively handles the situation (worth trying it)??
3. is the CDF export meant for ASO?
4. StarAnalytics (is this the better option) ??
Pls suggest!!
I will now start writing MDX!!....will all let you know!!
BTW the hanging is because ...I forgot to use logical operator after LINK function... after fixing that the report got validated.
