Running ACR from Bridge

I've made a habit out of running ACR from Bridge. The workflow was quicker and it could handle large batches better. Ctrl-R is almost a subconcious reflex now.
Since going 64-bit, it now seems that Ctrl-O is the way to go (it almost sounds like a slogan). You get to use the 64-bit plug-in in Photoshop. But this defeats the advantage of using ACR in Bridge, which is quickly applying settings to batches of images while you sort through them, without having to change applications.
I know this is the wrong forum, but it is linked, and this one is actually monitored by people in the know ... are there any plans to release a 64-bit version of Bridge?

so, what's the point
The point is Adobe concentrates on bolting on new gee whiz marketing features, clearly to the exclusion of making their base system better.  Some might say this is good, because it stays more familiar from release to release, but really, there are still a lot of filters and things still stuck in 8 bit land because everyone's working on the "next big visible feature" instead of making time to evolve the existing platform.  And then you have people asking why doesn't the second major release with 64 bit functionality still has components that only run on 32 bits.  Windows has had 64 bit capability for 6 years now!
The cash cow needs to get more funding, that's all I'm saying.

  • Some recently scanned files (TIFFs) won't open in ACR from Bridge, while most will. Why or how to correct?

All my TIFFs will open from CS6. In Bridge, when I select some TIFFs, the “File > Open in Camera Raw…” is greyed out.  For other TIFFs it is not.  Similarly for right clicking on an thumbnail in bridge. I’ve noted that preferences refers to “supported TIFFs” but can't find information on when a TIFF is not supported. Is there a size limit, the problem scans are larger than my normal ones at over 800MB!.   I’m on a MAC, OS X 10.9.5, PS CS6 13.0.6 and ACR 8.7.1.311.  My current work-around is to open these from PS.  Also note that the Bridge thumb nail do not have the symbol showing it's been changed in the upper right corner on the TIFFs I can't open, yet when I open as a RAW image from PS the changes are reflected in ACR.

Some additional information: When I open the image as a raw image from CS6 my previously made raw changes are intact.  But, when I open it in CS6 but not as raw (e.g. open recent images), none of my raw adjustments are there.

  • Can't open JPGs into ACR from Bridge - Windows XP

I was using CS3 on a Windows XP Machine, just installed the latest updates from adobe (to 2.0.0.10 I believe) and can no longer open JPGs in Camera Raw by hitting CTRL-R. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the adobe suite, (back to 2.0.0.95 Bridge and 4.0 ACR)but that didn't help. Now, it seems that some jpgs will open into ACR and some won't. I can't find any differences in these files. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I want the option of opening in raw easily, would rather avoid having to go and check that preference box to open all images in raw every time I want to do so. Thanks!

Bridge should be version 2.1.1.9 and Camera Raw newest release is 4.3.
Unfortunately your bound to set prefs to open jpegs in RAW, I put the ability of opening jpeg and tiff as a choice in ACR or directly in PSCS as a feature request. maybe you will support this, the more people that want it the better it would be :-)

  • Help: Can't open TIFF in ACR from bridge. ACR not an "Open With" choice

    Hi,
I have a TIFF file on my OS 10.4.11 desktop. I open CS3 Bridge and select the file ( A TIF from a scan generated in SilverFast AI Studio) I right click the file and the drop-down menu shows me CS3 as an "Open With" choice but I do not see ACR as a choice. I choose CS3 and it opens in CS3. As I have TIFF and JPEG files as a default for ACR when I choose a JPG and CS3 it opens in ACR... why not this TIFF? Could it be that as it was scanned with a bit depth of 48 ACR can not interpret it?
How can I add ACR as a choice in "Open With" so that when I right click any image file on my Mac desktop I see ACR as a choice?

I actually slightly prefer the NikonScan software to Silverfast's so I only use NikonScan with my Coolscan and scan to 14-bit RGB Tiffs.
For the larger format film, I use Silverfast with the Epson 4990 and do the same thing.
Then I open the resulting Tiffs in ACR 4.4.1 (hosted by Bridge) to do any preliminary color- and tone- corrections before proceeding to Photoshop.
I have not found a need for HDR when working from Color NEGATIVE film (but I do remove the ridiculous Shadow/HL clipping that these scanner software manufacturers seem to program into their default settings!) and I don't use "slide" film.

  • Help - Canon Mark IV CR2's won't open in ACR from Bridge CS3

Hello, I have CS3 - Bridge version 2.1.1.9 and I've uploaded 200 RAW images that show up blank.  The files show 21 mb and as a .CR2, show up in the camera, however, no previews in Bridge.
Do I need a newer version of Bridge and ACR?
    Thanks,

I did see, as I was researching my response, that there's only one model that has reached Mark IV stage so far, so my question wasn't completely necessary.  I have been anticipating a 5D Mark IV at some point to counter Nikon's latest offerings.
    -Noel
You may need to wait a while since the 5D Mk III is baely out of the starting gate.
The reviews seem to all say that the 5D Mk III is blowing the competition out of the water.  I an't verify that since I use a 7D.
BTW, I would recommend upgrading to CS6 as opposed to using DNG converter.  The new features such as the automatic CA correction, lens corrections, and better noise reduction make it worth upgrading.

  • Tiff previously edited in ACR will not open in Camera RAW from Bridge

Yes, I have googled this and found instances going back to 2010 with no satisfactory answer. I have Photoshop 5.1 and the latest ACR and Bridge that work with it. 2011 MAC Mini 10.8.2.
I scanned a landscape oriented printed email image at 800 spi as a portrait orientation and saved it as a tiff. I opened this tiff in Preview and decided it needed more than minor tweaks so I opened it in ACR from Bridge, made a few adjustments and saved it. I thought I could see what I was doing better if it was in landscape orientation again so I opened it in Preview and rotated 90 deg CCW, saved it as a tiff. Going to Bridge I found Open in Camera Raw greyed out. I went back to Preview to see if I could get what I needed in its Tools while viewing it in landscape. Adjustments took forever this time, so I gave up and took a look at the image characteristics. Rotating in Preview had changed the image size to 3.3333...... times larger at 240 ppi still aRGB, still a tiff. This has never happened before, including slow adjustments
I duplicated the rotated file and changed it back to 800 ppi and normal size, went to Bridge, Camera Raw still greyed out. Original unrotated image
that had been edited in ACR and saved will still open in ACR.
All kinds of strange things have happened since updating to 10.8.2, but I don't think this is one of them because of the complaints I have seen that date back to 2010. I did a full maintenance routine, i e cleared RAM, reboot in single user with fsck -fy, repaired permissions, back up with SuperDuper which repairs permissions again. Then I tried Bridge again, original will open, rotated won't.
    Anyone know the answe?

The answer is that making edits in ACR and saving it creates layers in the tiff and Bridge will then not open it again in ACR unless you flatten it. I still don't know why Preview increased the image size by 3.333.....x or why ACR increased the tiff file size by 2.6x and why the flattened tiff is 2x the file size of the original scan but the image dimensions are the same. This stuff apparently is above the pay grade of anyone in google, too.

  • Run Photoshop script from Bridge

    Hi
I have a modified version of Image Processor script in photoshop scripting folder (it saves RAW files as smart objects) and would like to run it from Bridge (apply to selected images). Right now I can run script from File > Scripts Photoshop menu but not in Bride Tools > Photoshop
    Thank you
    The help will be appreciated

Its Not Adobe Code and its not shipped with Photoshop.  Photoshop versions also has bugs in ScriptUI which is used by scripts with a dialog.  Image Processor Pro 2.3.1 has some bugs. Some files formats its saves may have problems.
Russell Brown works for Adobe but he has been pulled away from Photoshop.  Xbytor is the programmer that wrote Image Processor Pro he does not work for Adobe and he is feed up with Adobe for not fixing bugs in Photoshop scripting.  He stated he will support Image Processor Pro for some time.
Russell web site has this. The Open Source code is now available for many of my script and panels
Because of new projects and a changing demand for my time, it will be necessary for me to move on to new projects at Adobe. For this reason I will no longer be able to support, or update many of my scripts and panels. Never fear! – I am releasing the source code for many of my programs and if you are a programmer then you can use this code to modify and change my scripts to meet your needs. If you are not a programmer then I recommend working with anyone on the list of programmers that I have supplied below. However! Let me make it clear that his code is not to be sold. This is an open and free source to be used for the good of humankind and Adobe Photoshop users around the world
    ===========================
I do not have a Mac or a Windows 8 machine to test on. On my Windows 7 PC Image Processor Pro 2.3.1 and newer versions run on CS6, CC and CC 2014..  X is still working on it

  • From Bridge To PS To Export - EXIF Data Lost

    Hi all,
I'm wondering what happens to my EXIF data when I import a Canon RAW file via ACR from Bridge to PS. When I export the file as a JPG and then right-click the jpg properties, none of the camera data is recorded. Perhaps there is a tick-box I've just not ticked?
Also, if I add keywords in Bridge, should they carry through the export process? I'm interested to know if it's possible to auto complete the keyword field in flickr when uploading an image.
    CS5 with W7 and Canon 5Dii RAW.
    Thanks in advance.

Can you be a little more explicit about the exact steps you're taking?
I just opened an image from Bridge into Photoshop by right-clicking a CR2 file, choosing Open In Camera Raw, then hitting the [Open] button in the Camera Raw dialog.  Then I did File - Save As - JPEG, and all the camera metadata was retained (per Explorer's Properties, Details tab).
When you say "export", exactly how are you saving the file?  With File - Save For Web & Devices, there's a Metadata field that allows you to specify how little or how much to keep.

  • Can't open ACR in Bridge CS6

    Hi,
I'm currently have a problem with opening ACR from Bridge CS6.
I own CS6 Design Standard, student edition (Not sure what version of ACR is included in the suite).
At Uni, they have Adobe CC, which is where I learned how to open ACR from Bridge, without having PS open first. In fact, I also learned that I use the same methods of opening with images other than RAW. However, the ACR button on the toolbar is greyed out, and right-clicking doesn't provide an option to open in ACR. Additionally, the file menu has "Camera Raw" greyed out.
I did some searching, however many solutions involved opening the Camera Raw Preferences within Bridge - this dialogue won't open. I click it... but nothing happens. No loading, no error, nothing. So I can't change the preferences.
I've tried pressing command + shift + option + click on bridge to reset everything, but nothing works.
It may also be helpful to note that I can't even open RAW images via bridge. I can only open into PS - though PS automatically knows it needs ACR. It's still worrying though, that Bridge doesn't even recognise RAW files either.
Is it possible something got corrupt?
I have scoured these forums, however other people had errors, were able to access the preferences, or resetting settings worked. Nothing has worked for me. :\
    Thank you in advance!

Sorry, my mistake. The first step is not under ACR prefs in Bridge but under the general prefs in Bridge (command-K).
For step 2 you are right that ACR prefs can be accessed from either PS or Bridge. "Automatically open JPEGs/TIFFs with settings" and "Automatically open all supported JPEGs"  both work for me (using CS6). In both cases after choosing one of these two options I can (in Bridge) do a right-click on a JPEG or TIF file and get an option to open it in ACR. TIFs have to be regular “one layer“ files, though. When I try it with a TIF with several layers, I don'get the ACR option.
    Yours,
    Ray

  • Can't Open ACR files from Bridge in Photoshop CC 2014

I Can't Open ACR files from Bridge in Photoshop CC 2014.  I have uninstalled the programs, and all other versions of PS several times, but no matter what I do, I can't open a raw file I have opened in Bridge, in PS CC 2014. I have to click Open in Photoshop CC 2014 in Bridge.
Also, on my workstation PC (Win 7 64bit), if I don't open PS prior to opening Bridge, then when I try to open a file from bridge it says it can't run PS on an earlier Operating system than Win 7!
I have done exactly the same instalation on my notebook, same OS, and everything works perfectly - I just don't understand.

Guys! This question was asked almost two months ago, and still no-one has replied? I'm still stuck, no matter what I have tried, I cannot find a solution. And please don't ask me to re-install AGAIN, I've done this several times and it simply does not work.

  • Cannot run batch directly from Bridge

    Hi,
I often work from Bridge and use the TOOLS>PHOTOSHOP>BATCH or TOOLS>PHOTOSHOP>LOAD FILES INTO PHOTOSHOP LAYERS
This works well except it has just stopped working for no apparent reason. When I try any of the commands under TOOLS>PHOTOSHOP, photoshop will launch or become active but then just sit there doing nothing.
This has thrown a HUGH spanner in my workflow and is driving me nuts.
I have tried deleting Bridge/photoshop prefs etc but nothing seems to help.
I'm guessing it has something to do with Bridge startup scripts or something.
I can batch via the Photoshop Automate menu but this is nowhere as efficient for me - I then have to hunt for the files etc.
Weird how it did work then not. The only change I made was installing a new version of ACR, but that was a week or so ago.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!
    Thanks.

    SOLVED!
I renamed the folder containing my files and it now works. As far as I can tell there was something corrupt in the folder name - it was originally COPY>PASTed from an email, so maybe there was a hidden character or something else weird that confused Photoshop when it tried to run the script.
    Weird.

  • ACR missing from Bridge CS3 on Mac

I am working on a MacBook Pro with Adobe CS3.
When I originially installed CS3 running OSX 10.4 the "Camera Raw Preferences" under the file menu was missing. I also could not "Develop Settings" or any other ACR functions from Bridge. I was able to open files in Photoshop and use ACR that way, but that seriously hindered my workflow.
In order to solve the issue I: 1) Updated CS3 (did not fix) 2) Rebuilt Permissions (did not fix) 3) Un-installed CS3, Re-installed CS3 (DID FIX! Camera Raw back in Bridge!)
I Recently upgraded to Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard) and now I am right back where I started: no ACR in Bridge.
So, again I tried to fix by: 1) Un-installing & Re-installing CS3 (did not fix) 2) Re-installing Mac OSX 10.5 & CS3 (did not fix, but was a major hassle)
I am hoping their is a known fix to this, or if there is a scheduled update to either CS3 or Mac OSX 10.5 addressing such issues with Bridge. I would rather not revert to 10.4 having bought 10.5.

Assuming you have installed the RAW plug in at the correct location??
    from the FAQ;
Q: How do I know that Adobe Camera Raw is installed correctly?
A: For Photoshop CS2 and CS3 customers the most efficient way to ensure that you have the latest Camera Raw update installed correctly is to choose the Updates option from the help menu. For Photoshop Elements customers the best way to verify that the Camera Raw plug-in is installed correctly is to make sure it appears (only once) in the "About Plug-in" menu (see: Photoshop menu on a Mac or Help menu on a PC). The correct version is displayed when you pick its name and see its about box. If "Camera Raw" is not in this list, you have not installed it correctly.
Q: I am trying to replace ACR 3.0 by 3.1 (or higher) I cannot find ACR in my Photoshop/Plug-in/File Formats folder, where is it located now?
A: As explained in the "Readme", which can be found on the ACR download page, the new correct location is:
    Photoshop CS2
    Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS2/File Formats/
    Win: \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS2\File Formats\
    Photoshop CS3
    Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS3/File Formats/
    Win: \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS3\File Formats\

  • Batch Process White Balance From Bridge/ACR?

Here's what I want to do:
    Open Bridge
Use Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor
Set ACR white balance to be used on all files being processed from Bridge
    Save to JPEG
I can do 1, 2, and 4.  When the Image Processor window opens it gives me a checkbox option that says, "Open first image to apply settings".  I assumed this meant I could open the first image in ACR (via Image Processor), adjust the white balance settings (and any other ACR settings I want), and then have those settings applied to the rest of the images that are processed.  However, when I do this, the ACR settings are applied only to the first image, none of the others.  Is there a way to apply the ACR settings I create on that first image to the rest of the images?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

Apologies for replying to this thread, but it seemed like a better idea than creating another topic for more or less the same issue.
I am attempting to do the same thing using Bridge/ACR except I am not seeing the edits on the JPEG file afterwards.
Here are the steps I go through.
    1) Open Adobe Bridge CS3
    2) Select several RAW files
    3) Click Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor
The options I have checked (1) open first image to apply settings.  (2) Save in Same Location (3) Save as JPEG, Quality 12 (4) Include ICC profile
    4) Click Run
    5) Make edits in ACR, click Open Image
    6) Photoshop batches those files.
I only chose 6 files to batch as a test, but it only made the edits to the first picture, the remaning 5 were untouched.
I am wondering if maybe I am just missing something simple here and someone could point it out to me

You might want to try and put a
