Rather than scripting the action out in code, I'd like to run my action already recorded in PS CS4. Anyone have an example on how this can be done?

How to run a recorded action on a folder of images?

The last time I used Photoshop was in 1998, and things have changed a bit. I'm sure if I had time to read all the documentation I could figure out how to do this, but I'm under an extremely tight deadline and the guy who would normally do image processing is on vacation.
I have a folder of more than 500 images. I need to change the height, width, and resolution of all of them. I know how to record an action that I can then run manually on open images, but is there any way to run that action on a folder of images without having to open all of them? It could take years if I need to open them before running the action.

Record that action do not put a save in it. After you have that action saved with no documents open in photoshop use menu File>Automate>Batch... in the batch dialog point to the action set and action, point source to your folder of images. In desternation use the pull-down menu and choose Save and Close.

One of my clients is a club promoter and they would like to put their logo on the bottom left of their photos from their events. Usually I can do this by opening the logo (which has like 50% opacity), copying the logo, recording an action set, pasting the logo i copied to memory into the photo, resize the photo and export and close the photo, save the action set and then just batch- automate and choose all currently opened images to run the action on.
*I mentioned the 50% opacity because I want to put the logo on the photos but not totally hide what's underneath the logo.
How do I do the same with photoshop elements?

Just another option that may work for you there are a number of relatively cheap and a couple of freeware programs that are listed here, there are many others I am sure.

I am getting crazy with Lab center. I cant record an exploration test if i try to make it on Lab center's remote machine.
I have follow msdn help. And if i make it on local machine it works fine.
Test agent is configured correctly like "Interactive process".
On lab center, my Lab status is "Ready".
Connecting with lab center to target machine, Test Agent status is "Online" before run exploration test.
While exploration test is running, Test Agent status is "Running Tests".
But when I make click on "Create Test case" there isn't any information of desktop click events from target machine.
By other hand, when i finish there are attachments file with info from target machine. As you can see on the flowing pick:

Why does (the object "move" is currently not availible) dialoge box pop up when I run action script?

when I run actions in CS6 it does nothing close to what Ive recorded , "move" dosnt work, "reflect" dosnt work ,"copy" dosnt work ? and when I record simple moves it places shapes in compleately different areas then where I recorded them Ive try'd breaking the set up into the smallist possible actions ,with function keys and without . Ive try'd reconfigureing all types of presets in all sorts of combo's its driveing me nuts can anyone esplain ?!?!?

my first command is "open" and it opens my file my second command is copy and the first dialog box opens and states that ( the object "copy" is not currently available ) and as long as its still in the clipboard from building the action after i hit continue it pastes the two objects it said the copy wasn't currently available for ...if the clip board is loaded with other stuf two of those pop up instead, next command is rectangle tool witch seems to work but where I record it is not where it shows up when i play back its in different areas everytime time i play back ,then the next command is shapemodes "crop" function witch cropped ounce then not but left the object i was cropping in lines view instead of pixel preview and rite now it just has the rectangles i made appear with solid white and a black stroke but when i recorded my little rectangles were clear with a small black stroke they're also way off to the side on playback ,then the second dialog box pops up and tells me that the object (?)"reflect" is also currently unavailable but it doesn't matter because they're white anyway's ..... any ways it goes on like that ,I have plenty of time between moves to let the program think....

MTM - Lab center - Action recording - Manaul Testing

I have created some test runs via MTM using manual testing I want to automate it by using coded UI project.
1. How do I link my test results recording to my project, which work item should I look for? it seems the test run is not associated with any work item, any ideas?
2. I made my recording under a local machine environment, Is it possible to associate a new standard lab environment to run those automated tests. My main issues is how I link between my test run recordings to the new standard lab, Is it possible. Do I need
to to deploy a build deploy test.

No display due to long running Actions

I have a small issue in my application.
Please help providing the solution for the following problematic scenario faced in my application.
My project is generally a report generation project,
arch used: our-own architecture(similar to struts)
Server: deployed in tomcat server..
On clicking a button from X.jsp, it triggers the action with the request = REQ1
so in my configuration Xml file it checks for it and executes the corresponding Action classes and it should display the Presentation(Jsp)
What happens is , the action class execution is taking more than 10 min, becaz of which i am getting blank screen.
From the action to jsp , it is executing without any error, which i could see in the log files..
Actions taken:
improved the performance of the query, but cudnt reduce much time..
session time is 180min, and connection timeout set to an hr. - No change- It seems this doesnt have to do anything with this.
my Observance:
I guess, as per arch, it is executing till jsp, but it seems that HttpRequest is getting timedout becaz of long running actions.
Please help to find the cause and approach method to resolve this issue.
Note: no issues to wait till 10min.. but need to get the values (reports) in the screeen..

Design is inappropriate.
Long running processes, and specifically reports, shouldn't rely on session connections.
Instead the following should be done.
- Process initiation (user request), post a task request to a task request queue. Return a unique identifier to requestor.
- Separate process processes tasks in the task queue.
- Requestor (such as a gui) periodically polls using the indentifier to see if the task is complete.
- When the task is complete the requestor asks for the results (GUI displays them.)
The problem with extending timeouts is that there are valid error scenarios where long timeouts will mean resources not returned to the system for long periods of time when they should have been.
Per your current solution there is probably some other timeout somewhere. Could be several. The JSP forum might be a better place to ask where all of the possible timeouts could be.

It sounds like either the server or perhaps a firewall is timing out after 5 minutes or so. If you can examine the log files for each such machine in the network, you might find that one is reporting a timeout. If this is the case, you can change the timeout to something greater than 5 minutes, but this is not advisable. Other applications should rightfully timeout if they 'hang' for more than 5 minutes or so and you don't want to interfere with that. One possible solution is to look up something like 'jsp keepalive' to see how to get the JSP page to periodically send a message to the server to keep the session alive using something like AJAX. I tried this and I couldn't find anything that worked. Another thing you can do is do performance tuning to speed things up, or only fetch a small subset of data for the user at a time by filtering (example: instead of returning the entire telephone book, have the user select A to Z for last name and only return the last name that begins with that letter. Another possibility is to cache the data and read from the cache. Then, periodically, refresh the cache from the database at say, midnight every night. Those are the only ideas I have.

Action recordable CS SDK panel

I'm trying to set up a demo project where a CS SDK panel triggered script leaves a trace in the Actions palette (i.e. is recordable).
I've been successfully building a regular, recordable script appearing in the Filter's menu following this pattern. My goal is to implement a complex UI in Flex, which passes to the script the needed parameters - one history status, action recordable.
Embedding a swf in the ScriptUI isn't viable, since the supported Flex SDK version is too old to my taste ;-)
So far I've:
1. put a test_PS.jsx file, containing the requested <javascriptresource> header in /Presets/Scripts/ - plus a test routine (simple blurring) waiting for a param and the needed controls to discriminate whether or not save the param into an ActionDescriptor.
2. made the extension to read that file and call the main() routine (via HostObject.eval()) passing the param. The blurring is executed, leaving a single step trace in the History palette. But...
Even if I make the Extension's call to main (passing the params) call in turn the very same script with:

At one time tool recording was not possible and if you install Adobe Scriptlistener Plug-in Adobe will disable tool recording its never an option.
I use and record actions all the time and was looking forward to tool recording when Adobe announced it. However I found what they delivered was of very limited value because of the restrictions. I do not care that Adobe disables tool recording on my machine.
The amount of data that gets reordered seems also vary between machines. I found that Action recorded on fast machine are not usable on slow machine. Fast machine recorder too much data.
Documents you use such action on must also have the same size and resolution as the document you recorded the action on. Quite a restriction.
You problem may also be foxed in CC 2014 sett here Photoshop CS6 - Recording the clone tool in an action gives incorrect results on replay.

Running JRA recording with Weblogic running as a service

Is it possible to run JRA recording while running the WebLogic application server as a service?
The spec for our environment is as follows:
- JRockit JVM version: JRRT 3.1.0 1.4.2
- Weblogic version: 8.1 SP6
- OS: Windows XP SP3
Ideally, we would like to be able to run JRA recording every hour as an automated process, however as there is no java.exe process to attach to it seems this might not be a possibility? I appreciate is certainly possible to run the application as a console application and attach to the PID of a running java process using JRCMD if WebLogic is not running as a service. Are there any solutions for taking JRA recordings when JRockit is running in a Weblogic Service?

You can try to run beasvc.exe in debug mode, from a command prompt after the
server is booted. You can run it by: >beasvc -debug ...
This will simulate the service being started in the foreground so that you can
see output messages. You may be trying to run beasvc in a way that is not
intended. If you continue to have issues, you should open a case with BEA
Support.

PhotoShop Elements from the App Store cannot run actions??

I am so upset that I spent $80 to download PhotoShop Elements 9 from the App Store and then found out that it cannot run actions and presets!!!! For some reason, the version of PSE that you get from the app store is not capable of this, which is the main reason I NEED and USE PhotoShop! Please tell me I am wrong and if so, how to fix it!!! I have them installed in the files correctly but they don't show up in PS. Thank you for any help you can provide, thanks!

I just loaded my actions using the PSE 10 from the App Store.
Close PSE.
Access the System library location from Finder, Click menue, "Go" then select "Go to Folder...". Type in "~/Library" and click Go.
The systems Library will open up and then you take this path:
Application Support > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor > Presets > Actions (The Actions folder is where you move your actions file to)
Then go to the Photo Creations Folder > Locales > en_US and delete the MediaDatabase.db3 file (move it to the trash)
The next time you launch PSE your Actions DB will be rebuilt with the new actions installed.

Actions recorder not recording

Hi, I open hundreds of photos a day in photoshop (CS-3) in order to extract embedded caption information using the commands: file-file info-copy, paste (to a Word document or InDesign). I tried the action recorder but it won't record those steps. It would be nice to have an action command that does this. A lot of our photos end up in Flickr and I notice that Flickr uses a caption extraction program b/c when we post photos there, it automatically strips out the caption info and posts it in a window below the photo. Any help much appreciated!

I don't know of a way to copy text into the clipboard, only image data. But
somebody else may have figured something out (via textItem.contents, perhaps).

Running Actions in PS Elements 13

Hello, I recently purchased a wedding welcome packet that is compatible with ps elements 6 and newer. I have elements 10. However, it will not read the grouped layers which m means that I needed a special ungrouping action as well. I got that from the company but it will not run on my PS. So I bought the Elements 13 thinking it may be my PS. It won't run on there either. When I select, run action, it comes up and says that this action is currently not available. Help?
