Running another OS on same computer

Dear All
I have a G4 mac mini with OS 10.4.2 (ibook in for repairs) and a LaCie external hard drive. I have a digital camera that only works on OS 10.2 - 10.3.9. I want to be able to download the images onto the Mini or hard drive. What can I do?
My view is that I can:
a) partition the Mac Mini HD and work with the OS 10.3 only for the camera software. If I do this how do I load up the OS and choose which OS I use on the computer?
b) Load the OS onto the HD in which case this become the start up disc. How do I do this. The advantage of this is I do not have to partition the Mini's HD (at a late date I may want to departition it). However, I don't want to affect the files on the separate Hard Drive. I also have more room on the external HD.

Although most (all?) digital cameras come with software for easy downloading of images, the software is often unnecessary -- it's there for people who want things to "just work".
When you attach the camera to a computer via USB, the memory card in the camera may appear as a standard USB flash media device. If it does, simply copy the files from the camera's memory card to the computer's filesystem. Be careful about changing the contents (deleting, etc) of the camera's memory card, however, as that should be done by the camera for many camera models.
Although I haven't tried this on a Mac (my mini should arrive Monday), I've gotten it to work on Windows XP and FreeBSD with a couple of Sony cameras.

Locate them in the Windows Explorer, move or copy those files as you would any other, and drag them into the open iTunes window when the second library is loaded. If you're using two iTunes libraries on one user account, you only need to locate the files; otherwise, they need to be put in a shared area.

lots of ways... you could use a thumb drive, you could drag files to the users public folder drop box, you could send it through email, you could use the internet servic called drop box (not to be confused with Apple's user public foldelr drop box).

How can I move my DRM-protected movies from one disk to another on the same computer without running afoul of the big movie houses?

I need to off-load my digital copies to another disk I just bought, located on the same computer, so I can have more room for other things; my collection is getting too big, I guess. I'm afraid if I just move them and re-integrate them back into the iTunes library, it will mess up the DRM status and lock me out entirely. How do I transfer my ITunes Library from one computer account to another on the same computer?

I use an outdated Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and since it is outdated, my web browsers like Safari and Google Chrome will no longer use Java or any other software that allows you to go on sites like youtube or any other sites (which is mostly everything) that use Java/Javascript. Anyway, i made another account on the SAME computer and Safari seems to be working fine on that computer account. My question is if I can transfer my WHOLE ENTIRE ITunes Library to my other computer account so I can use my ITunes on that account comfortably, like transfer music and what not. How do I move imove content from one user to another on the same computer?

We bought our Macbook pro about six months ago. We made the mistake of creating two users for it (my husband and myslef) but bow we only log in under my user name. The problem is we originally imported all of our video camera content to his "log in" and now it is in his imovie folder, and not mine. I want to make a movie on my log in with the fottage that we imported to his. So, how do I get video content from one users login on the SAME computer to the other log in users? I cannot seem to move it for the life of me. I did not expect this to be so difficult.

You need to log into his account and look, under the Movies folder, for iMovie Events. Inside, you'll find folders with the events names and still further will be the movie itself. Copy each to an external media or use the Shared folder so both accounts can reference them.
Another option would be to attach an external HD and via iMovie (Events Library pane) move them to the new disk. You would preserve the thumbnails and analysis already performed on the videos.

I NEED TO TRANSFER THE BOOKMARKS FROM ONE USER TO ANOTHER IN THE SAME COMPUTER??

I have created the recommended second user site on my computer.
Also I have Administrator user site on the same computer that I do not wish to use sometimes.
Both users are having the same Mozilla browser (win7) but the second user does not have bookmarks that the first user is having.
I am struggling already almost half a day by using all printed articles but WITH NO SUCCESS.
Please advise ma how to do it. I feel it should not be a big problem.

It can be tricky knowing how to locate and navigate between the different settings folders used by your different installations of Firefox.
To start, I suggest creating a folder that serves as a neutral location that Windows doesn't try to secure between users. For example:
C:\bmks
You can create a backup from the fully loaded copy of Firefox to that folder, then restore it into the empty Firefox. You've probably already found the procedures, but just in case, the following article describes both the manual backup procedure and the restore procedure:

If you have bookmarks in the newer profile that you do not want to lose, you can use an alternate export/import procedure using an HTML file. This doesn't carry over all the same information (e.g., tags). These articles have the details, and again I suggest using a "neutral" folder:

When you're done, you can delete the contents of the neutral folder for privacy.

iMAC, OS 10.6.8... and yes, I love Snow Leopard light and handy... and all my programs work on it...

Move small groups of files to the /Users/Shared/ folder or another location and see if the problems disappear. Moving everything to a new user account will in all probability transfer the problems.

I just double checked on my laptop that I share the music files with.
When I did the steps from the above post, my music showed up just fine.
The other account was blank as I didn't have any music in there anyway.
All I had to do after the steps above was to "Add to Library" under the "File" menu. I then selected the entire "iTunes Music" folder in the shared library and added all the songs to it... Now you would not have to add all the songs if the other account didn't want them all.... So, you could be selective.
Bottom Line.... It does work and then you only have one copy of the "iTunes Music" folder on the one hard drive... No duplicates....
I did NOT have to have the box checked that said "Copy files to iTunes Music folder"..........

I have a "regular" ipod and have successfully loaded iTunes (dated 10-12-2005) on my pc. My husband just bought a shuffle but we cannot seem to run them on the same pc. Why not? iTunes just will NOT recognize the shuffle. I have successfully loaded the shuffle on our kids' pc; but all 2,000 songs are on my pc. I DON'T want to reload all of them. ANY suggestions? iPod Shuffle. What I did to fix the problem was to
download the latest version of the iPod updater and
select the restore option. It should reset the
factory settings and flash the device with the latest
software. I recommend trying to get iTunes to
recognize the shuffle on its own, and then connecting
the additional unit.

I have two different libraries on the same computer (a Mac mini), one family library and my personal library. I want to move my music from the family library to my personal library, so I put it all in one playlist. I am trying to figure out how to move (or copy) this playlist with all my personal music into my personal library. I have tried copying all of the songs in that playlist and pasting in the new library but that didn't work, it just simply pasted nothing. Any ideas? The playlist is rather large (around 650 songs,) but it seems like apple could manage this without me having to make small playlists. Thanks for any help!
