Running bootcamp and Win 7. No fans

I've installed windows 7 on my '11 15" MPB using bootcamp and then vmware fusion. When booting natively into Windows through bootcamp, I've noticed some fan issues. When playing games that normally speed my fans up to max RPM (6000+) under OSX, under Windows 7 my fans are still idling down around 2000 RPM. I can't even hear them! I can't help but think my computer is fying.

And, from the backup you already had made (See Step #1 in the pdf guide) just in case you need to erase and restore.
If you really CANCEL during the partitioning or install, you can leave your drive in a condition it needs to be repaired and/or restored.
Computers: it isn't IF but only WHEN. No one knows what they will have to learn.
Doesn't mean you give up though either.

I am running bootcamp and I am unable to reboot in osX, because harddrive is full?

ok, so remove some items from your startup disc to an external hard drive to free up space, and then install Omnidiscsweeper to find large files that might unnecessarily be taking up space.  Or if you find this suggestion to be unsatisfactory, post in the Boot Camp forum.

  • Can I run bootcamp and mac osx

Can I setup two different user accounts with one running bootcamp with windows and the other running mac osx?

You don't "run" Boot Camp. You run Windows and OSx.
Install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant. Create a password protected Windows user. Create a password protected OSx user.
When someone boots the computer have them press and hold the option key. If Windows is selected as the boot option, only the Windows user will be able to log in. If OSx is selected as the boot option, only the OSx user will be able to log in.

  • I have run bootcamp, and installed windows 7. I love it but, the reason I installed it is to play games not compatible with a mac. When using windows it lets me install my games but won't load them when I want to play them. Help"

Will my games work on my computer? and how?

Like the hatter says give us some info upon which to base a response.
I have 3 Boot Camp installs on three different laptops (2006 MacBook-Win XP, 2008 MacBook Pro-Win Vista, 2010 MacBook Pro Win 7).
I am an FPS gamer and have to know the limitations of the hardware when it comes to being able to play what I wish. I can play only old games (pre 2004) on the XP machine and more recent games on the Vista machine. But to play the newest games I need the Win 7 machine and it even has to be set at less than the higher settings.
My question to you is what Mac are you using and does it match the minimal system requirements stated on the box or in the manual. If the hardware specs can not be met then it will not load as has been my experience.

  • Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard with Bootcamp and Win XP Pro 32-bit

Does the Apple Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard work with Boot Camp running Windows XP Pro (32-Bit)... I read something leading me to believe there maybe a problem and you need to use a wired USB mouse/Keyboard.
    Is this true?

Apple Wireless Keyboard is able to work in Boot Camp via Window XP Pro, it's good enough.
but the Magic Mouse, it's not able to work completely in Window XP Pro,
it's just work like a normal bluetooth wireless mouse,
all the Multi-Touch features like scroll, rotate, swipe, pinch and tap click are not gonna work,
even you are configure via the snow leopard, so please be reconsider.

  • Running bootcamp and right mouse click on windows

Hi all, I was just looking to setup WinXP on my machine and wanted to know how my macbook pro laptop mouse would deal with the right mouse click on windows? If I dont have an external mouse plugged into the laptop is there no right mouse click available?
    Thanks!

Download a program called AppleMouse at http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhancements/Other-Desktop-Enhancements/App le-Mouse-Utility.shtml. Unzip it the copy-and-paste "applemou.exe" to this directory through Windows Explorer: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. Once copied, restart your computer back into Windows and login. You'll be able to right-click by holding down the control (ctrl) button and clicking.

  • MDT and Macs running Bootcamp – worked in MDT 2010, now does not in MDT 2012

I haven’t been able to find much info on this so I thought I would try here and see if anyone can help.
We’ve been using MDT 2010 for the last couple of years to install Windows 7 on Macintosh’s running Bootcamp and it’s been working fine.
We recently upgraded to MDT 2012 and the same process we used to use for this does not work anymore and I would like to find out how to make it work on 2012.
    Here’s how the process works:
First, setup Bootcamp on the Mac.  This creates another partition on the Mac for the Windows OS (partition 3 for MAC OS 10.6 and lower, partition 4 for OS 10.7 Lion because of the recovery partition).
Unfortunately Bootcamp cannot create NTFS partitions so it formats it as FAT32.
We then create a standard client task sequence using MDT and the Windows 7 source files (not a custom image) and give it a name to make it obvious it’s for Mac’s – “Windows 7 for Macintosh running Bootcamp”.
We edit that task sequence and disable the built in “Format and Partition Disk” step since we don’t need to create the partition, only format it as NTFS.
We then create a custom diskpart.txt file called BootCamp_Lion.txt with the following contents:
    SELECT DISK 0
    SELECT PARTITION 4
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK OVERRIDE
We place this file in the “Extra directory to add” location we’ve specified in the Win PE Customization section so it is located on the root of X:\ when it boots into Win PE.
We then add a command line to the task sequence:  diskpart.exe /s x:\BootCamp_Lion.txt
to format the existing bootcamp partition as NTFS.  Then in the “Install Operating System” step we set it to apply to a specific disk and partition – Disk 0, Partition 4.
This installs Windows 7 on the Bootcamp partition and leaves the Mac OS intact and has been working fine in MDT 2010.
Now with MDT 2012, the task sequence starts fine, formats the partition, installs Win 7, but when it comes up in the full OS for the first time I get the error “Unable to find the SMS Task Sequencer.
The deployment will not proceed.”  And the task sequence stops.
I know the partitioning part has changed in 2012 and have read that you can get this error if you deploy to something other than disk 0, partition 1 but I’m wondering if I can accomplish the same thing that I used to have working in 2012.
Is there a different way I can do this?  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Robb

    Hi Guys
I have been having the same problem.
What I have done to get around it is
add a custom command as we all did in MDT 2010 to format partition 3 or 4 depending on the version of OSX
don’t disable the Format and Partition Disk task but tick in create active partition then remove the partition properties and then click on options and check
    continue on error
then under install operating system change the partition that you want to have windows installed on
Once the deployment has completed you will receive the message that deployment has completed but with one error
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Matthew

  • HT4818 I want to have an exFAT parition in addition to the Mac OS X and Windows partition.  If I create it before running BootCamp, it wants me to delete it.  If I create it in either Windows or Mac OS X afterwards, I can no longer dual boot.

I want to have an exFAT parition in addition to the Mac OS X and Windows partition.  If I create it before running BootCamp, BootCamp wants me to delete it before continuing.  If I create it in either Windows or Mac OS X after running BootCamp and installing both OSes, I can no longer dual boot.  What is the magic sequence to get this to work?

    I've got the same quandary.
After upgrading my hard drive to a Momentus XT Hybrid and doing a clean install of Mountain Lion, I was surprised that I couldn't format partitions separately and then restore from my clone of the old Windows 7 Partition. I found that I had to use the BootCamp Assistant to manage it all, which essentially meant getting rid of the partitions and starting again...
I now can't get my Windows / BootCamp partition to boot, after adding a 3rd, ExFat, partition, when it was working perfectly fine before. I just get a lot of dos booting failures and a final message that "No boot device is available, press Enter to continue".
See the attached message, that I get when trying to boot the bootcamp partition, through Parallels 7; which also worked perfectly fine before.
Be good to know if there is a work around this in Mountain Lion as, if not, I'm thinking I might skip Bootcamp altogether and just install a machine drive via Parallels. As suggested here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1420754
I might even keep the virtual windows machine on a separate hard drive and then I'll have no need for the ExFat partitions altogether as that was designated for  sharing between Windows  and Mac.

  • Bootcamp and iTunes apps on the OS X Server 4

  • Bootcamp and keyboard

    Hi there,
I am running bootcamp and when I am starting to install Windows XP I can't actually move into the setup because the keyboard won't work. Is there anyone who found a solution?
    Thanks.

I have this same problem trying to use Boot Camp to install Windows XP Pro on my son's 2-GHz MacBook. The Windows setup program copies lots of files, you see them going by at the bottom of the screen, then it brings up a screen asking if we want to install Windows XP, repair an existing Windows XP, or exit without doing anything. At that point, there is no response to any keyboard input. We tried this both with the MacBook's native keyboard and touchpad, and with an auxiliary Microsoft USB keyboard.
The Windows software we're trying to install is Windows XP Pro, original release. We have SP2 on a separate CD, and of course we don't get that far.
We have some $$ invested here because we upgraded from Tiger to Leopard mainly so we could use Boot Camp. I'm really eager to hear of any solutions to this issue.

  • Bootcamp and Parallels

Can I run bootcamp and Parallels on the same Mac? How do I run Bootcamp if I've already installed Parallels? Do I have to re-format my drive and start over?

Here's why you want to install both: Parallels accesses your existing Windows installation you did with Boot Camp. You don't have to boot into Windows if you install Parallels after you've installed Windows in its own Boot Camp partition and you don't have to install Windows again. It's much safer because the work you do is saved on the windows partition, not on a virtual drive. Of course, you can still boot to Windows if you need to.
You can open Windows programs right with your Mac apps and switch among them as if they were native by using Parallels. You will have to activate Windows again for some reason, but it's painless unless you've installed it more than twice in which case you have to call Microsoft.
Boot Camp is free of course and simply partitions the hard drive, you don't "run" boot camp as ZooCrew already pointed out, you actually boot to windows on startup. You do "run" Parallels which accesses your windows partition. Quite slick. I use it for Quicken because the Mac version blows hard, and another program I have to use for work that is Windows only for now.
