Running ChessMaster 9000 which requires a physical DVD to be present

I am trying to run ChessMaster 9000 on an MBA although I think my problem applies to a number of titles where the software requires the physical presence of a DVD.
I have the DVD mounted via Remote Disc (in fact, that is how I installed it in the first place!), but when I run the software it says insert disc...blah blah blah
I understand the once you are running, you can eject the DVD. My question is, would a SuperDrive help? It is an expensive way of getting round some pretty naff copy protection, but needs must!
I have tried creating an image using Roxio Toast, but the software is "cleverer" than that. I have also raised two issues with Feral, but received no response.
All suggestions welcome!

I don't think remote disc works for games -- even if it did, it would be way too slow --
I can't comment on the chess program, but have been using the superdrive to run all kinds of other games and programs.
In all honesty, the superdrive is the best investment you will make -- Remote Disc is a joke -- for example, to install Office with Remote Disc on a supercharged cable network at my house would have taken AN HOUR -- it took 4 minutes with the superdrive.
I use my superdrive almost every day. It doesn't matter that the MBA is advertised as a "wireless" device -- the reality, technology is not up to the task to really run much of anything wirelessly at this point in time.
You will be thrilled with the superdrive. I've recommended it to everyone that has purchased a MBA.

I downloaded ios 6 on my iphone. Now I need to download the new version of itunes, which requires the new OS. In order to download the new OS i need to have the app store, which comes with the new OS

In order to get the App Store you must be running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8
To get there you must upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6 which requires an install DVD
You can call Apple and ask them for the install DVD. It will cost $19.95 plus shipping
Once you have upgraded your Mac to Snow Leopard then you need to update it to 10.6.8
Then you will have the App Store you need
Backup first before you start any of the upgrade

please help me install Chessmaster on my macbook, I'm dying to install it but it gives me an installation error
this is the error:

Do you have Rosetta installed? I think it was optional in 10.6, but can be done from the Install Disc.

I have an imac that runs on mavericks and I want to use chessmaster 9000. Will it work and if not, what are other good chess softwares that I can install??

The web site states it is for Apple Macs and the system requirements are small.
To be sure why not ask the Software developer of Chessmater 9000, they will give you better advice.

Now, for your specific problem - the likelihood of them actually having created / initialized the components in a constructor is 1 in about 10-ba-friggity-zillion. So - here is how you get around that: make a direct call to the init() method:

Lion is the highest version your can install. You need to have 2 GBs of RAM and be running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

There are no patches available.
There is no indication of a new CM version being produced that will run on Lion.
Other Chess products that will not work:
Sigma Chess is another product that will not work with OS Lion.

I downloaded mavericks but the install failed. The message stated there was an error with the disk which required repairing.

Using disk utility repair disk is not available ( greyed out) and verify disk stops and says disc requires repairing. So the online support page suggests I erase the disc and reinstall then back up from time machine ( I have a recent backup). But when I try to erase the Macintosh HD I get the message volume erase failed with the error couldn't unmount disk.
I'd be very grateful for any help anyone can give me.

Whenever you install a new version of OS X being installed, the disk is checked just as if you were using Disk Utility checks the disk to see if the disk is damaged. And,, from what you report, your disk is damaged and needs to be replaced. This isn't a fault with Mavericks - your disk may have been failing for years.
It's a very good thing that you've a recent backup as you're going to need it. I would suggest that you evaluate what functionality that you need in a new disk and go shopping at OWC for a new drive - HGST (or any Hitachi), Seagate SSHDs or Toshiba drives are all good. Be sure that you buy an enclosure for the 'new' drive so that you can format it using Disk Utility before installing it into your machine - you can get one of those from OWC as well.

I have recorded the application which requires user authentication and once the recording has been done i have logout from the application. and now if i playback the script ,then again it will playback from the login page.
So according to my opinion,it should skip the login page at the time of playback the script. But it is not. So what would be the reason for that?

Actually i have a confusion regarding this note given in the "OFTFunctionalTestingUserGuide pdf"

If i m not wrong, when we record the process of visiting the pages on the site from login to log out from the site.
and when we run the playback scirpt it should be not start from the login page as per the above mentioned note.

Since the calendar and contact list on my office computer are my primay ones, I hard sync through iTunes. Flash is not, and probably never will be, supported on the iPad : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ . Plus it would be up to Adobe to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices, something which they have never managed to do and which they have now given up on trying to do.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter and Puffin 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, so your could try checking there for your sites (and there is the built-in YouTube app).
