Running Cluster LDOMs on the same server

I'm doing some testing of moving ldom's to multiple servers and sometimes the same server. I'm running into a problem where I can't bind the same vdsdev device to multiple ldom's on the same machine. I'm doing CFS within the guest domain and it works fine across machines but not on the same one. Anyone else run into this kind of issue.

I have tested it, but the documentation does not recommend using this feature in production. Running concurrent SAPEHPI on the same OS

We have to upgrade more then one SAP system running SAPEHPI, the SAP system are running on the same server.
if running more then SAPEHPI on the same host for diffrent SAP system, tcp port will be busy (4239 and other)
Do you know of a way to run SAPEHPI concurrent on the same server (change of http ports)

Hi Erez,
Kindly note that running concurrent EHPI's on the same system is a complicated process and unless very much required better not to use this.
If you run several enhancement package installations in parallel on the
same host, you have to use different port numbers for each. When you
start the installation program, specify the port numbers as follows:
       o httpport=<http port number>
       o guiport=<GUI port number>
       o -srvarg=/DSUService/abaptoolport=<port number for ABAP inst.
          tool>
You can only run multiple SAP Enhancement Package Installer on ABAP only
systems, not on dual stack or Java only systems.
Do you use different port numbers? Are all ports accessible, especially
on the frontend? (See port usage with netstat -a command)
For configuring the different EHPI-Directories you can for instance
use this: usr/sap/<SID>/EHPI
where <SID> is the of the systems, where you execute the EHP
installation.
Please take care that the paths of the different EHPI-Directories
that you will define are not very long!

Clustering (intended as Sun Cluster, Veritas Cluster, etc... ) IS NOT SUPPORTED since 7.0:

and, based on my own experience, is the WORST way of achieving high availability of an LDAP Directory Service and an almost GRANTED way to get replication issues in your topology (lock, split, re-init, etc...).
Please use instead the 'application-level' clustering that you get out of the box with the Multi-Master Replication.

Can different cluster of SAP Business One installed on the same Server

Can anyone tell me if B1 different cluster version installed and run on the same server. Example B1 2005A AND B1 2005B. If it can, could you please include the procedure how can it be done.

No, A and B have different patch cycles - so there would be conflicts in SBO-Common. Therefore it will not work.
You could try to workaround that with named instances of MSSQL, but installation & update would need additional care + workarounds.
The best way to combine 2 SAP Business One cluster "servers" but still on one hardware would be to use a tool like VMWare... - but such a configuration has not been released by SAP - i.e. if there's an issue that could be traced back to the VMWare system, SAP might not be (li?)able to fix it

BTW: Please note that you need to think eventually about conflicts with MS licenses. SAP has an agreement with MS which ASFAIK covers the license for 1 VMWare Windows system on 1 Windows PC so that we can use WMWare for SAP Business One sandbox systems - after RAM upgrades () it works fine...

KMS service set up and running, all the recommended updates applied (to handle possible activation issues for Windows 8 etc)
Microsoft Office 2013 Standard deployed on the server mentioned above and on workstations on intranet, volume licensing in effect (proper KMS key for activation of Microsoft Ofice 2013 has been entered).
Problem: I can't activate MS Office 2013 installation running on the same server where KMS service is being run.
There are no entries in KMS event log related to this failure.
Everything was restarted, reinstalled etc several times already (including installing 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Office).

XI and R/3 Running on the same Server.

Hello Friends!
One year ago I've installed XI on a machine that already had a R/3 instance. Although there were different instances, one for SAP R/3 and one instance for the ABAP part of XI, I couldn't get to connect XI to the R/3, appartently XI searched for the instance through the IP address, ignoring the instance ID parameter.
Now I have again the same challenge, I have only one machine to run R/3 and XI.
Does anyone know if it is possible to do?

Securing applications communications running in the same server

Hi everybody,
I want to share critical information between two applications (medical information about patients) using JMS queues, moreover due to this criticity i was planning to secure this communication using SSL. The problem is that one of the client applications, because of his architecture, have problems when accessing the JMS queues.
But I have to say that both applications will run in the same server (physical machine), knowing that, what kind of security problems could we encounter if, finnally we don't cypher the communication?
I guess that the danger is lower than if the two applications would run in different machines, wouldn't it?

There is a requirement to run 11g RAC and 12C RAC in the same server for a year or so and then remove 11g RAC?

We are asked to use the same server and upgrade Hardware to install and run 12C RAC. What are the implications of running RAC in the same server/nodes?

Is it possible to run multiple ODI Scheduler Agents simultaneously on the same Server?
As we provide Work repository name in ODI params file and if we have different work repository
and we want to run schedular agent on same server how can we point to the other work repository.
Do we need to create another installation of ODI agent files on same server?

Hey Kashi,
You do not have to instal a separate Agent files again. All you need to do is to make sure that each set of agent has all the required parameter files which inclues, odiparams.bat , agentstart.bat and agentstop.bat(names may not be exactly same). Running Multiple Web Dispatchers On The Same Server

Is it possible to run multiple instances of Web Dispatcher on the same server? I want to have one instance pointing to my WAS 6.40 system and the other instance pointing to my BW system. I have set up two services on the NT server: One named the standard sapwebdisp.exe and the other named sapwebdispbw.exe. I am using two separate profile files, one for each instance. The services start O.K. However, when I attempt to access my BW system using the HTTP port as defined in the BW profile and the Web Dispatcher profile, I get a message back saying that "The server you are attempting to access has refused the connection with the gateway. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the server." I have double checked that the service is running and that the BW system is up and available.
Any help is appreciated.

CNR: Two cnr instances in the same server (lab environment)

Hello, we are trying to install two cnr 7.2 intances on the same server in order to replicate in lab the real environnment (failover local cluster) without deploying two servers.
I've seen on the installation guide that installing both a local and regional server on a single machine is supported, but what about two local servers working as a failover pair?
up to date, we've managed to install both installs, the dhcp servers are configured for using different interfaces and web gui are listening in different ports. scp ports have been changed (1234 and 4321 ) and, on dhcp-server expert configuration: failover-remote-port and failover-port are configured to be different (677 - 678 in one , and 678 - 677 in the other)
We can manage both servers from DHCP - failover configuration, as they show up and running, and even see logs... The other configs are
When trying to syncronize we get the error
"ChangeSet list is empty."
is this configuration supported?

One instance of dbcontrol/dbconsole will support only one database. If you do not use Grid Control (extra installation, extra license) you will need to use the emca utility or one of the options in the dbca utility to configure a seperate instance of dbcontrol for each database. Don't worry about the ports, the creation utility will take care of it and report what it does.

anybody can tell me why?Basically, tpcall:ing another service in the same server is a no-no, unless you
a) are running a multi-threaded server (requires TUXEDO 7 or newer + compilation
options) or
b) use tpacall() instead of tpcall() and specify the flag TPNOREPLY. This is probably
not what you want to accomplish, though.
The reason is that TUXEDO servers by default (and always in versions before 7)
are single-threaded. If service A and B both reside in server X, server X will
be busy taking care of the call to A. If A makes a call to B, the call will be
put on the queue to X, but X will not look at the queue until it is done with
A, which won't happen until B returns... deadlock!
You can play tricks with starting multiple instances of X, but in the end you
will always face a risk (something lika a race-condition) for a dead-lock.
Solution: Move service B to another server (usually quite easy) OR switch to multi-threading,
if that's possible. Just make sure all code your service calls is MT-safe as well...
