Running dbca while connecting through vpn

I am working form home, when ran dbca or any other xwindow apps , its took forever....I am wondering what could be the case, should i request my network admin to provide more network speed ...any suggestion is appreciated........
I have 10g RAC project coming in soon and need to use dbca , netca heavenly.....

One method we've used is to have a client workstation available, which we 'take over' with remote desktop connection. The graphics are then between the servers and that client desktop (it's also good because if you lost your vpn connection, the connection between the client and server still persists.)
If you are using dial-up - hang up and call a cable company for installation.

I have yet another issue related to 10.9.2 update - Eclipse Perl debugger issues while connected to VPN...
One of the big changes introduced by 10.9.2 update - are VPN changes (security fixes). Unfortunately, whatever these changes are - they "broke" Eclipse (OpenSource IDE) debugger. I am not sure if *all* programming languages (Eclipse plugins) are affected by this, but I know for sure that 'Epic' (Perl plugin) debugger *stopped working* while system is connected through VPN.
Here is the error that gets “popped-up” in the Eclipse:

I was able to prove that this issue is related to 10.9.2 update:
Issue *does not* exist under 10.9.1 (I had to revert back to 10.9.1 to get it working again)
No updates were performed around the same time 10.9.2 update occurred (I verified that using Software Update log)
No configuration changes were introduced around the same time
Reverting back to 10.9.1 using Time Machine (thanks god I had backup !!!) fixed the issue
Steps to reproduce this issue:
In Eclipse, try to use 'Epic' (Perl plugin) to debug any perl script while *not* connected through VPNEpic debugger works
Connect to VPN
Start Epic debugger to debug same script
Debugger *does not* start, and "Timed out while waiting for Perl debugger connection" error pop-up comes up after some time. At the same time, exception stack (listed above) is printed in Eclipse's console
I am programmer/software developer, I work remotely (telecommute) and thus have to rely on use of VPN to connect to company's intranet. Perl - is primary language used by my team, and we use Eclipse IDE with Epic plugin - heavily. Use of Epic's debugger - is a *very large* aspect of my work, I cannot work without it. So in essense, 10.9.2 has *entirely* disrupted my ability to work! It took me almost a week to get back to normal work environment, and I cannot afford to let it happen again... I need Apple's development team resolve this VPN related issue, as soon as possible! Because of this issue, I am *stuck* with 10.9.1 and can not upgrade my laptop to any other versions. In fact, I had to disable system updates - just so I do not run into this issue again... I contacted Apple's Tech Support on 02/28 with this issue (Ref: 582428110), asking to raise trouble ticket. Since then, I tried to follow-up on that issue, but do not get any information. Please advise on the status:
is there a trouble ticket to track this issue?
is there any progress?
what's the ETA for an update that fixes this problem?

Outlook is disconnected while connected over VPN

In our Beijing office a user's Outlook cannot connect to exchange server, however, when he connect to VPN his Outlook can normally send or receive email.
It is so funny, have you ever encountered a similar situation or maybe you can provide a useful suggestion?

Do I need to open ports for my services if I am connecting through VPN

Hi,
I work in a small office and we are trying to connect people remotely to our server through VPN.
Using the Server App I managed to make VPN work and successfully connected to our file share points, so that means file sharing worked without opening ports for afp on my Airport router.
On the other side I cant connect to other services as iCal and Address Book as I am locally in the office. Does that mean I have to open the ports for those services on the router, if yes then why use VPN in the first place.

If I understood you correctly:
External client -> (server.domain.name) -> Router -> Server: is working
Internal client -> (server.domain.name) -> Router -> Server: is not working
Internal client -> (local ip) -> Server: is working
If yes, you can implement a-la "split zone DNS".
1. On the external DNS your domain name server.domain.name resolved to the external router IP.
2. You should add record (and zone) server.domain.name to your OS X Lion Server DNS pointing to local IP
When you are connected to VPN, system sets DNS server to your Lion server and server.domain.name is resolving to local IP.
When you are working without VPN, system use external DNS and server.domain.name is resolving to external IP.
Of course, you should open ports for your services on the router is you want to use them from external network.
I am using this configuration and it works perfectly.

Getting error ORA-12705, while connecting through Sql*Plus?

While connected Via VPN - Couldnt reconnect to disconnected or active session

Hi Folks,
Looking for some help here, I got users who are having problem while connecting remotely via VPN .
Users can take remote desktop to server if they do not have any disconnected or active session without any problem
But if they do have active or disconnected session than they see below error:-
This computer cant connect to remote computer , Try connecting again
and this was only noted when using VPN, but when we are in same network and try to take rdp even disconnected or active connections get connected.
Couldn't narrow down where the problem could be any help appreciated,

User cannot connect through VPN (Windows 2008 R2)

TechNet has been a major help for some resent server and network problems our office has been having.
There is one ongoing issue that no matter how much I try to fix, it wants to be stubborn and refuse to work properly.
We have a user who has the necessary permissions to VPN using our router's IP address. Just recently, she found that she was unable to VPN. This was the beginning of our technical issues as after rebooting the router, our main server, and our QuickBooks
server, we lost internet and access to the main server. Those issues have been resolved. However, the user is still unable to VPN.
I have looked up every error code that has been presented when trying to connect to VPN (807 and 800 are the most frequent), and unfortunately, none of the solutions suggested worked. These errors occur when connecting through the WAN Miniport. I am trying
to find out if I am overlooking something.
What has been tried:
Router rebooted
Created new user in Active Directory
Deleting VPN Users group and readding to user
Changing tunneling protocol to L2TP instead of PPTP. Then, created a rule in Windows Advanced Firewall to allow UDP 1701.
Creating new VPN connection.
Confirmed with ISP that there are no issues with router
I am not extremely familiar with Windows 2008 R2 and every fix I see online is extremely in depth with not much walkthrough information.
I greatly appreciate any support anyone might be able to provide.

According to your description, my understanding is that the client can’t access the VPN with error code 800 and 807.
I have noticed that it failed to ping the VPN server form the client. The VPN server should be connected from the client without VPN connection established. I suggest you to turn off firewall temporarily on both sides of client and VPN server, then
try to ping the IP address of the VPN server’s interface which is connected to extranet network.
If ping failed, there might be network connectivity problem. If ping successfully, check to see if the port is open for turning traffic. Detailed troubleshooting steps you may reference the link below:

Problem while connecting through ldap console

hi ,
we have our directory server 5.2 sp4 on red hat linux 4.
i am able to connect through ldap broswer and ldapsearch is working but when i mtrying to connect through console it is saying as incorrect password or directory problem.i m not able to figure out what can be the problem. any help is appreciated.

Unable to run pse 13 dvd on surface pro while connecting through external dvd drive

Hello, I purchased pse13 DVD and a portable DVD drive to install this software on surface pro having windows 8.1 but this DVD is not detected on surface. Is there a way I can install this software on my surface?

You'll have to figure out why the surface isn't showing the DVD drive. For that you'll have to contact Microsoft or the DVD manufacturer to see if the drive is compatible with your Surface.

DPS 6.3.1.1 - Issues while connecting through SSL

I have a issue where my application client reported that they are unable to connect to the LDAP using SSL. Where as everything works fine in LDAP (non secured)
This is how our deployment looks.
Clients <=> Load Balancer <=> DPS (2 instance) <=> DS (2 masters)
The DPS is configured with DSP (data source pool) (with proportional algorithm of 50:50 to backend data sources). Client Affinity ("read-write-affinity-after-any") is configured for this DSP. The DSP is attached with 2 data sources.
So when the client connected in a secured port using LDAPS, they are unable to authenticate/search against this environment. No issues were found in DS logs for any of the bind/search requests. But in DPS, we noticed below log which i want to get clarification on.
Note: I have removed the hostnames/Ip where ever applicable from the logs.

If noticed in the above logs, the initial Bind request via LDAPS is routed to Master 2. But the susequent search request (for user abcdef) is routed to Master 1.
And finally the DISCONNECT operation came (last line) without a proper unbind.
Is this alternate routing a expected behavior when client affinity is turned ON ? Is this exception causing the application's search failures ?
Please shed some pointers on this..

Loadbalancing algorithm takes precedence "if the request that starts client affinity has not yet occurred"
Since its the load balancer that connects to DPS for any/every request every time., How do the DPS know whether a request that starts client affinity has occurred / not occurred ?Well, client affinity starts with a certain operation (not by establishing the client<->dps connection) as specified by your client affinity policy. In your case ("client-affinity-policy:read-write-affinity-after-any") it starts for all operations after the first read or write operation. DPS is not a (network) connection based router - so it does not route the client connection to the data source but forwards the client operations (request) on dedicated bind,read,write,.. connections to a data source selected by your load balancing and/or client affinity policy.
In our case, Its the same connection (conn=1255260) that receives bind and search request from the client. So when a connection is established, the client affinity should have got enabled and sent the bind request to Master 2 initially, so for the next search request, shouldn't it be sent to Master 2 again ?No, see above.

I have a server/Device having untrusted certificate. When i connect to this device using HttpURLConnection its throwing null pointer exception as below.
The update51 has introduced many security things, but i belive it should pop-up a dialogue for the untrusted certificate not the NPException. Seems like a clear bug in Oracle java update51. I have created a bug in bugs.sun.com but i dont see my bug id is visible in their bug database.

Further note:
i see the doShowDialog() function in com.sun.deploy.security.TrustDeciderDialog has a new call to printWarningsIfRequired in DeployManifestChecker class.

In my opinion the call to this function should be available only incase of a webstart and not for the standalone applications.

I get the same error and try to turn off hostname verification by using the option :
-Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true
but it does not seem to take this option. But wl 8.1 sp2 works. It starts fail to work since 8.1 sp3. I am looking for a solution as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Insufficient Privileges While Connected Through SYS.

Hi,
I came across following strang error while starting database as SYS.
SQL>conn sys/pwd as sysdba
Connected to Idle instance.
SQL> startup
ORA-01031 insufficient privileges.
How come this insufficient privileges?

Windows Troubleshooting:
- Verify yor user belongs to the ORA_DBA Oracle privileged group. If you are a domain authenticated user, ask your Windows Adminitrator to add your user to the previously mentioned group.
- Make sure your sqlnet.ora file has this line: SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
Unix Like Troubleshooting:
- Make sure your user belongs to the dba (or equivalent defined at install time) Oracle privileged group.
Failing to do so, will unavoidably require you to provide SYS password at connect time.

Error While Connecting through RMI

Hi,
I am getting the following error when connecting to the server through RMI.This problem is occurring only in Linux and when connecting remotely.In windows we are able to succeed and if both server and client in the same machine able to connect.The problem persists when connecting to the server remotely in Linux.

The remote object has been unexported, probably via DGC action. The solution is to hold a static reference to it in the server JVM.
