"running DEPLOYMENT", CTS+ & non-Deployment

Hello @All:
Currently we are facing some major issues, trying to use CTS+. When we create a transport request, attach (whatever epa or sca) release it and then tying to import it tp starts and runs and runs and runs...
In the state "running DEPLOYMENT" the transport request is not completed completey.
We got the following system landscape:
DEV --> PROD
Both systems are dual stacks with SPS12.
I have already read 4! different documentations with different explanations how to configure the transport route.
Anyway we did it like this:

How can I run a vi after deploying into a PXI Machine

Hi;
I am wondering if there is anyone out there who knows how to run a vi after deploying into a PXI machine from my host machine. In my application, I have some vi's that are deployed into my PXI machine. My problem is that when I would like to start these vi's simultaneously after deploying them. My current approach is to call vi reference and then invoke-> run. However, since there vi's are being deployed from a host machine and they are running in the PXI machine, I don't know how to create vi reference with the path constant. In other words, how can I find out the path of my vi after being deployed into my PXI machine from the host.

When VIs are deployed onto a PXI Real-Time controller they are generally copied to a C:\ni-rt\startup directory on the controller.
Helpfully, this KnowledgeBase article talks about how specify and programmatically launch VIs on an Real-Time controller.

 Firstly I already did call BEA support before coming here, this is my last resort.
 I can't get a definitive answer from support. They were the ones that actually
 suggested to me that I post here in the first place. I did search the BEA edocs
 and couldn't find anything on it.
 Secondly, I am using WL 6.1 SP1, and in the thread just beneath this one, which
 I referred to directly in my opening post on this thread, I do mention this in
 the opening paragraph, in fact I give considerable detail.
 Thirdly, I never implied there was an onus on any BEA engineer to answer anything
 here. What I did mean was that given that they do read these posts and they do
 answer posts, I was merely a bit concerned that as I'm third person to ask, it
 would be strange to still get no response given that they answer other questions.
 I mean if they don't know, then who does? It's a real simple yes/no answer, it
 would take 5 seconds.

Run sequence with base deployment engine

I have a basic Teststand 4.2.1 sequence file that takes some data measuremts and records the results to a file. This sequence runs fine onthe development system and now I want to deploy this to some other deployment workstations. I can run the deployment utiility and create an installation package. The deployment installes on the deployment workstations and I can configure the teststand base deployment engine license.
When I try to run my deployed sequence file, it always tries to run the full development version of teststand. Since only the deployment version is licensed, I get stuck at prompt for the temporary 7 day evaluation. If I remove the teststand development evaluation licence, the sequect fails to run saying there is no license available.
How do I set my sequence to run under the base deployment engine license. I don't have any fancy custom interfaces. I just want the default teststand interface to run the sequence file in read only, no editing mode.

You won't be able to use TestStand Sequence Editor to run your sequences. You can use one of our pre-built UIs that installs with TestStand. Please see Chapter 14 of the TestStand reference manual. This has several examples of Deploying TestStand system. Also you can take a look here for more information on TestStand licensing.

Optimizer run did not delete Deployment: Release for stk transf. req

Hi Gurus,
I would like to know if the "Deployment: Release for stk transf. req" is also the result of the SNP optimizer run? If not, should this be expected to disappear in the system once the optimizer run is finished because this "Deployment: Release for stk transf. req" still exist in the system even after the optimizer run. Is it normal to have this in the system? If not, what are the factors why this still exist in the system? What are the process on how to delete this?

Hi Ann,
"Deployment: Release for stk transf. req(category EG/EF)" is a deployment order generated by a deployment run and has nothing to SNP optimizer run. SNP optimizer creates planned/purchaser requsitions but does not create/delete deployment orders.
You need to run deployment with a "delete" option to delete and make the system delete the existing deployments and recreate new ones.
Here is the flow.
Lets say you have 1 DC being sourced from 1Plant.
You have a demand of 100PCs.
1. When you run the SNP optimizer, the system looks at the transportation lane, costs etc. Since this is 1 DC 1 Plant, the system just creates a stock transfer order at the plant for 100 PCs.
2. Then you run SNP/PPDS planning run at the plant depending on the SNP planning horizon. Assuming the SNP planning horizon is 0 days (no PPDS run here), the system creates a planned order for the 100PCs (this can be more depending on the lot size).
3. Then you run deployment. The deployment looks at the plant and DC, there is a requirement of 100 PCs and a receipt of 100PCs at the plant.
The system deletes the stock transfer of 100 PCs at the plant and creates a deployment order of 100 PCs at the plant.
A deployment run replaces a stock transfer. But a SNP optimizer run simply creates a planned order at the plant but does not ever change the deployment order.

Can I run as a non-administrator?

I run on a Windows XP user account that does not have administrator priveledges. The administrator installed ADE and I can run it. However, if I attempt to get a book from Adobe's web site, it wants me to install ADE. Of course, if I try to install it, that fails with a message indicating I need "administrator access". Is there any way I can run as a non-administrator user (so not being able to install a program), but still download books?

All that one need to run application in NWDS is the SDM password to deploy the applications .
who ever know the SDM password can simply install NWDS on thier PC , deploy and run applications.

Hi,
yesterday i posted a message (cfr java.lang.NoSuchMethodError

There was some advice that i don't have to watch out the error. Some told me it was concerning a anti-virus programme (which doesn't run in this environment)
so i deploy it with this error :
could someone guide me thru the solution?

How to add a project to the deployment components under deployment server

Hi,
When I run one of my projects in JSC, I got following error message:
"application NeuronBank is already deployed on other targets. Please use create-application-ref command to create reference to the specified target; requested operation cannot be completed."
So I checked the Deployed Components under Deployment Server, and my project is not listed there. I think that this might cause my problem. But I have no idea why this can happen? Can I add my project into this list and How?

Deployment error while deploying targeters in BCC

Hi,
I am trying to create a targeter with content groups and media internal texts. Whenever i deploy a project with these assets, i get deployment error.
It says "Deployment '169200010' to target 'production' encountered a system level deployment error during data transfer. An automatic rollback deployment has successfully occurred, preserving the state of target 'production'. Click 'Resume' to re-attempt the deployment."
I checked for the VFS set up for targeters and content groups and they are in place.
There are 3 assets in the project. It says the asset already exists

yes i checked. To clear this out, i created a new project with new set of content groups and targeters.

A little more details on what you are trying to do will help.
Which versions of JDev/OC4J? which technologies? did you install the ADF Runtime on the server?

just one application . other applications is OK

Hi,
1) Please check if J2EE engine is up or not. Please make sure that its up and running.
2) Please close the project, NWDS and then again open NWDS, project. Deploy the application.
3) Contact your BASIS consultant and explain the problem to him. Many time, BASIS consultant do carry out some BASIS activities and at that time you get this type of error.
4) If nothing works out, get your Portal restarted.

Auto Deployment versus Hot Deployment

Hi,
Can anyone one please tell me what the real difference is between auto deployment versus hot deployment in WLS 8.1 SP4 as I am confused after reading the documentation.
Can they both be individually enabled or disabled?
Can I just disable Auto deployment and only use Hot deployment (or is hot deployment another name for manual deployment).
I know in Jrun that you can add hot-deploy directories in Jrun console, where now when a developers put a new WAR file or an updated WAR file - the server automatically deploys/redeploys it at that moment (this hot deploy directory could be any directory on the server or even on a different NTFS drive on same server).
Can this be achieved with WLS 8.1?

AutoDeployment automatically deploy/redeploy or undeploy the application when the application is put or removed from the applications folder under the wls domain directory. It is only available in Admin Server while it is running in development mode (default mode). It is not available if the Admin Server is running in Production mode.
Hot deployment deals with updating the application modules like ejb or war inside an ear without redeploying the complete application. This is dependent on the classloader structure of the given application. So if a ear has a webapp and a ejb with default classloader structure, then only the webapp can be hot redeployed without complete application redeploy. It can be used for apps deployed on both Admin and Managed servers and is available for both production and development mode.
Autodeployment is mainly to save the developer from running the deploy command every time while the app is being developed iteratively. Just copying the updated application in the applications folder will redeploy the app on the Admin server.
Hot deployment is mainly used to update the individual modules or jsps/servlets/classes in a module without redeploying the complete app.

OS X deployment.config and deployment.properties not working?

I have a deployment.config file at: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/lib/deploy/deployment.config with the following contents:

deployment.system.config=file\:/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/lib/deployment.properties
The deployment.properties file is located at: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/lib/deployment.properties with the following contents:

None of this is working. Do I have the wrong directories or syntax somewhere?
The documentation at : System- and User-Level Properties says that the deployment.config file will override user settings when placed at ${deployment.java.home}/lib/deploy/deployment.config.
It seems like the deployment.config file is being ignored completely. I am working with Java 7u40 and higher. Nothing seems to do it.

Yeah, it only happened to me in the last couple days, so I'm not sure what's happening (latest OS and latest version of Logitech Control Center (but a somewhat old MX Revolution)). Logitech's software is notoriously flakey on Macs, so I'll just chalk it up to that
