Running Dreamweaver CS5.5 on Windows 2008 R2

I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS5.5 on a Windows 2008 R2 server for use within Citrix environment. The installation seems to work properly and I can open the application the first time with no errors, however, every subsequent opening of the application displays only a splash screen for Dreamweaver, then either does not open at all or gives me a Windows error (0x00005). I have seen the forum comments about removing profile data and security - am running under the local admin account (full rights) and I have cleared the profile data with no change in behavior.
As a side note - I called Adobe support, and after being bounced around multiple times (and hung up on twice), they finally referred me to this forum - ????????

They sent you here because Windows 2008 Server is not supported by Dreamweaver, no server OS ever has been.  If you are using the Citrix apps to push installed applications to a networked computer the clients should be virtualizing a client OS to run them in such as Windows XP, 7 or 8.  They should not be running virtualized apps in a server OS.  If they need access to the server for maintenance or pushing files live, you should set up SFTP/FTPS or network access, including a network drive or remote desktop connection.  If they need a testing server and they are unable to run one on the client, then a second virtual machine should be setup for them to test in.

I am retired.  In my active years, I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard and Dreamweaver CS5 for my Windows environment.  I recently spent a fortune to migrate to  Apple.  I now (and a bite late) realize that my licenses are not recognized by Adobe. I am desperate. I cannot afford the expense of buying or paying access to the software and, still,  I need the tools for all those little things I do for enjoyment. What can be done?

The licenses are operating system specific, so one option would be to retain use of the Windows machine you had before the Mac.
If you want to try to use the older stuff on your new Mac you can try installing Windows emulation software such as Bootcamp.

  • Got exception when running CrystalReportViewer on 64 bit Windows 2008

    Hi Jonathan,
Currently the .NET solution contains over 70 assemblies, and only one assembly has reference to CR2008 .Net runtime SP2.  All the 70 projects for each assemblies are compiled with Platform Target set to Any CPU.  We build an installer with InstallShield, which deploys the runtime by CRRuntime_12_2_mlb.msi.
If we resolve all the parameters, and donu2019t prompt user for the parameters, then the same report runs fine on 64-bit Window 2008. Otherwise we always get the error on prompting parameters.
We resolved the issue by recompiling the exe with Platform Target set to (x86). And all the 70 assemblies are still compiled with Any CPU.
    Regards,
    Frank

  • Is Dreamweaver cs5 compatible with Windows 8

Not Dreamweaver cs5.5, but cs5. Is it fully compatible with Windows 8?  It works with Windows 7.

I think it would make good sense.  I hesitate to buy their products because I feel I am going to be left high and dry when the next operating system comes out.  Every time my PC fails or is retired it is a guessing game as to what still works.  Since software is so expensive, I find I am buying less and less – too risky.  I simply do without and do not expand my IT horizons.  It is a lot cheaper for the parent company to try it out and give a report than for every single user to take the plunge and potentially drown.  The customers can only find out by installing the product.  If it doesn’t work then there is the task of getting it off.  Generally the software does not come off completely and the residue can cause complications.  The companies could test until it stops working and then say that from this point back you will have to buy a new one.  It sure would build consumer confidence and end a lot of aggravation.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 compatible with Windows 8

I just installed windows 8 on a new SSD and am trying to open Dreamweaver CS5 from my secondary hard drive.  I keep getting error "The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect.  Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail"?  Won't Adobe CS5 work in Windows 8?
    Thanks,

Have you also reinstalled Dreamweaver on Windows 8? If so, and you still get the same error message, then maybe there is something here that could help: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-side-side-configuration-incorrect.html

  • Running Photoshop CS5 Extended on Windows 7.

Editing:   Is there a way to change a black background to a transparent one. I want to use colored swirls in some editing but without the background.

Since CS5 is no longer a current version, you can not swap the platform. However, you are eligible for the upgrade to CS6, and you can swap the platform then. See this page.
You should consider the Photoshop/Lightroom CC Photography package.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 out of memory when trying to find and replace

Please help. I am running Dreamweaver CS5 on a windows 7 os. This has happened in previous versions as well. This is a new computer and a new install. There are no memory shortages on this machine.
I go to search for something, and select either folder or files in current site. It starts, then flashes the "out of memory" dialog box and stops the search. I have to force quit to leave the program.Over and over. Find and replace of a site or folder is a crucial function I use this program for!
    Thanks for any help

How big are the combined files in your Local Site folder?
My guess is that you have something really colossal such as server log files or something else that are causing DW to choke and freeze during its Find / Replace scan.
If you can identify the really huge files/folders in your site folder, you could use 'cloaking' to exclude them from DW operations.

  • I run Dev 6i on Windows 2008 R2 64-bit,the forms are working fine after connection to the database but the reports continue to request for username, password and database connection string every time i try to open a report.

I receive REP-0501: Unable to connect to specified database. I run developer 6i application on windows 2008 r2. I have applied the nn60.dll and nnb60.dll files to the \BIN directory. The forms are working fine. The reports will only display after the correct user id (username, password and database connection string) is supplied. This is happening to all attempts to open already complied form. Pls, help.

If you are connecting to an Oracle 11g database, remember that by default the passwords are case sensitive. To disable that, run
    ALTER SYSTEM SET SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON = FALSE;

  • Dreamweaver CS5 - extremely slow performance over VPN

I work for a company in Ohio but live in Virginia, and I have to use VPN to access our company's network drives.  I am running Dreamweaver CS5 on Windows 7, 2GB of RAM, reasonably fast residential internet connection.  Dreamweaver is so slow over VPN!  It takes forever to cache a site, to open, save or close a file, or even just to refresh the document if I leave the window and then come back to it later.  Sometimes it's upwards of 3 to 5 minutes (or more!) of the program hanging while I wait for it to wake up.
I realize that some of this is affected by the connection speed at the office in Ohio, but is there anything I can do to make DW run faster over VPN?  Copying the files locally is not really an option because a) it would take too long to copy the sites we work on to my computer, b) I don't want to mess with multiple copies of files and c) I'm not savvy enough to run a .NET site locally on my computer.

    b) I don't want to mess with multiple copies of files and c) I'm not savvy enough to run a .NET site locally on my computer.
Not really sure about these points.  Personally if I were in your situation I would have a copy of the files locally for editing and then set up a testing server in DW that connects to the VPN for testing and then one remote one to push to the live server.  And are you using subversion with multiple copies of files?  Is that what you are trying to say?  Are there other developers besides yourself?
And 2GB of ram is not a lot on a Windows 7 machine.  Windows 7 requires 1GB (32-bit) or 2GB (64-bit) out of the box and that's not including your VPN program, Outlook, Anti-Virus, Firewall and any other software you have.  With the price of memory right now and I would personally recommend asking the company to double the memory up to 4GB for smoother DW operation.  I don't believe that will help the internet connection, but it will make editing in DW a little bit easier.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 update apparently fixes Mac FileVault problem

Adobe has just released Dreamweaver 11.0.2 (build 4916), which is intended to fix the problem with running Dreamweaver CS5 on Mac OS X with FileVault enabled. Adobe Updater should automatically detect the update, and display the Adobe logo in the menu bar at the top right of the screen on a Mac. Click the logo, and select Adobe Updater. Alternatively, select Help > Updates in Dreamweaver.
I don't use FileVault, so can't verify that the update fixes the problem. Hopefully, it does.

I was getting the same error message on both Windows 7 64-bit as well as XP 32-bit.  When CS5 Dreamweaver installs (and several other Adobe CS5 products) it includes an older version of the Java 1.6 Runtime Environment which has known serious security flaws.  My university's computer security people got a report from Secunia PSI that I was running vulnerable software (an older version of Java) and demanded that I immediately upgrade.
But I do have the latest updates of the JRE installed, so I was puzzled by this.  When I looked at the Secunia report, the JRE culprits were installed in the Programs\Adobe folders as part of each application such as Dreamweaver (and several others).  So I removed the insecure JRE folders under those program installations and replaced them with the updated JRE folder from the Java installation (JVM for DW). Granted, this was a bit of a gamble since the registry was not modified, but I had not experienced any problems until I kept getting the installation failure reported here for the CS5 DW update failure with no explanation.
Realizing that Dreamweaver is still a 32-bit app even when running on 64-bit Win 7, and I was running the 64-bit version of Java 1.6 v20, I thought I should have used the 32-bit version of Java to replace the insecure version installed under Dreamweaver.  I tried that, as above, but the DW CS5 update still failed.
Then I tried to reinstall CS5 Dreamweaver only, which succeeded with the older insecure JRE which then immediately got flagged by Secunia PSI.  Furthermore, the Dreamweaver update still failed with no explanation.  I noticed that some of the previous Java files (by their dates) were still left in the DW installation JVM folder, after the re-install.  So next I removed the entire Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS5 folder, and did a clean reinstall of Dreamweaver CS5 only.  It was immediately detected again by Secunia PSI as have an insecure version of JRE.  However, this time when I did the Dreamweaver update, it succeeded (v11.0 build 4916) on my 64-bit Win 7 machine.
So the choice currently appears to get Dreamweaver CS5 updates with an older insecure version of the JRE or
not get Dreamweaver updates but be secure with the latest JRE manually installed.  My university security people will not tolerate the former
I don't understand why Adobe does not put the latest JRE's as part of their standard updates.  Moreover, why put them in the Adobe installations at all--which is causing this security problem of older insecure JRE's--and instead use the main Java installation on the user's machine (and if absent, require users to install Java), if Java is really needed.

Regardless, it's here now and the calls for help have already begun.
I don't think anyone from Adobe ever said officially that it would be shipping in May. The shipping date was never publicly revealed, but the only suprise for me was that it was released three hours earlier than I expected. On reflection, though, it made perfect sense. It was released at 9pm Pacific Time on 29 April, which was midnight UTC on 30 April.
The fact that people need to call for help is disappointing, but perhaps inevitable. Everyone's computer is configured differently. It's impossible for the engineering team and beta testers to cover every possible combination. I don't know how many people are involved in beta testing, but when things go wrong, the engineers bend over backwards to get to the root of the problem.
I have been running Dreamweaver CS5 on Windows 7 and Snow Leopard for many months without problems, even though I have been uninstalling and reinstalling different builds on an almost weekly basis. That's no comfort to people who are experiencing difficulties, but CS5 has been thoroughly tested and is very stable.

  • Installing 10.2.0.4 on Windows 2008 64-bit

    Hello,
We are unable to install 10204_vista_w2k8_x64_production_db.zip on Windows 2008 SP2.
After clicking on setup.exe, nothing happens. We can just see setup.exe running at 50% in taskmanager.
The Client install, for VISTA/W2K8 x64 also fails, it does exactly the same.
This is running on VMWare. A physical machine running the same version of Windows 2008 is able to run the setup.exe file fine.
Does anyone have a work around for this issue?

Pl see if MOS Doc 249212.1 (Support Position for Oracle Products Running on VMWare Virtualized Environments) can help.
