Running flash on gpu?

Hi there,
Is it possible to get flash to run on the graphics card?
I currently can't play online flash videos like youtube at high res as it maxes out my puny processor, fps drops to around 2.
A completely buffered flash video at full screen will just about run but it's not great.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, with an Nvidia ION gpu and an intel atom 1.6 quad core processor, 3GB RAM and using Chrome v23. Recently reinstalled windows completely - it's in very basic operation and no unnecessary programs running or installed, all programs and components are up to date.
Other things I've tried to improve the situation:
Versions of flash tried: 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 11.5(current) and 11.6 (beta) with clean installs each time.
Antivirus is Avast - tried disabling.
Tried internet explorer - can try again if required
disabled Flash hardware acceleration, cleared caches etc
run 1080p at full screen and windowed
tried other video player - vlc runs perfectly at 1080p
Any help would be hugely appreciated - i've tried to include as much relevant info as I can to speed things up.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hmm, dunn if CS4 ill run at all well on XP 64 bit. On the face of it one would think it would do. However, Win XP 64 bit should be considered a sort of experimental version of Windows, a 64 bit taster for things to come, if you will. As a result, many manufacturers paid only lip service to this version as regards to drivers, software compatability and so on.
I'd consider moving to Win 7 64 bit. You'll get 64 bit stabilty with MUCH better compatability and support.
As for graphic cards, I used CS4 with a low end ATi X1650 with 256MB before getting my current ATi 4770 with 512 MB. It worked okay. Obviously, the more memory the better, but only up to a point. Other factors should be taken into consideration also. I'd take a 256MB graphic card with faster DDR3 or DDR4 memory and a quicker GPU MHz speed over one with 512MB of slower DDR2 memory and slower GPU MHz speed.
Hope this helps!

  • Is there a  way to run flash player on iPAd?

    I am rather unhappy that I cannot run FlashPlayer on my iPad. I can't run most of my weather sites without it. As a boat captain I rely on weather sites for safety among other things and when I travel it becomes even more important. I find it ridiculous that apple won't run Flash and Java. If I can't run these I will go back to my laptop.

    What you rather unfriendly and DEFINITELY unhelpful people fail to realize is 1) I am still, regrettably, using my laptop BECAUSE the iPad cannot run Flash Player. 2) As a PROFESSIONAL, whose livelihood and safety depend largely on weather and the ability to forecast CORRECTLY, not just with a pretty forecaster or cute comments, I SUBSCRIBE to PAY weather services which are much more accurate and detailed than the Weather Channel and Accuweather which try for mass appeal. SO STOP TELLING MY WHAT SIGHTS I SHOULD USE? After 30 years (20 with Internet) I chose my sites because of their quality. 3) I ASKED A SIMPLE QUESTION. With the exception of one or two answers, all the rest of you chose to attack me and criticize me for not wanting to use HTML5 or whatever garbage Apple chooses t shove in my face.
    I could give a rat's &$@ what you think of me. I wanted to know if Apple could work for me and now I know it cannot. For now I will continue to lug my heavy laptop around and I will dedicate more time to researching a
    Ight alternative. You APPLE JUNKIES are ridiculous. If somebody is unhappy with anything Apple, it is never Apple's fault. OK you run out and buy whatever you are TOLD. I for one choose to buy what works for me. I bout the iPad because everyone raved about how great it was - well, I found out that wasn't true.. in the few months I have owned it I have encountered MANY people unhappy with it for various reasons. YES IT WAS MY FAULT I PURCHASED IT WITHOUT SUFFICIENT RESEARCH--- I WON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN.
    All you know-it-alls, can have your junk. I am happy with myself and when I make a mistake I recognize it and change it. I am doing that. I have no use for any of you. you are no help to anyone. Fortunately, I can go back to wonderful life out on the ocean, being paid for what most of you can only dream about doing even once. you on the other hand can go back to your litle cubiclels taking whatever corporate America shoves down your throat and believing it is best for you.
    LASTLY, how is it that anyone who has a complaint is a troll? Do you all work for Apple? Or ar you just THAT BRAINWASHED? how lame a life you must have.

  • I need to know how to run Flash Player in a Vista 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit O.S.

    Help please !  I have been reading for days, trying everything to find the answer to my dilemma, which BTW is making it impossible to use our new computer now. Every other minute it seems I get the message that I need to run Flash Player in a VISTA 32-bit browser which is actually running on a 64-bit operating system.  Do I have to uninstall a program (what and where is it) and then instal something else (from where etc.)?
    Give me back our XP!  I get the idea that Adobe keeps SAYING they are developing a platform for Adobe Flash to run on a 64-bit, but I fear that is only a stall. Who is responsible for helping neophytes?  No matter how many times I have tried to contact Adobe, it is a joke.  One time, even though I do not have a subscription for service, the poor man took pity on me.  But his Indian accent was so severe I have ZERO idea what he was saying.  Can one of you wonderful, erudite, helpful people out there give me the solution in computer language 101?? I will be forever grateful.  I wish our computer "guru" had been smart enough to give us the pros and cons when he suggested Vista and 64..... When I am asked for a serial number even I have no earthly idea how to get that either.  I feel completely HELPLESS  and SLEEPLESS in Tucson.   Thanks SOOOO much to whomever can get me going in the right direction. (Forgive my LONG message.  I had to vent.  I feel better.) CLOWG

    Hi Clowg,
    Sorry to hear that you are having trouble.  Unfortunately, I don't believe the folks here on this forum will be able to help you with your issue.  Have you tried posting on the Flash Player forum?

  • Does Thunderbolt 2 provide the ability to run an External GPU

    Does Thunderbolt 2 provide the ability to run an External GPU (Nvidia Quadro 4000) for Mercury Playback in Premiere? The newly announced Mac Pro looks good except their choice in GPU, AMD, is very undesirable for any video editor using Adobe.
    Apple seems to be trying to use their hardware to give their inferior software, Final Cut X, a competive edge over Adobe Premiere.
    Either way, will it work? Will Thunderbolt 2 allow for full usage of external cards powering the new Mac Pro?
    Is anyone else in my situation?

    Thanks for the reply.
    I have heard that Thunderbolt PCIe cards are not actually run at full capacity because Thunderbolt is limited in respects of PCIe power.
    A PCIe slot has 16x lanes of power and thunderbolt has 8x lanes. I have wondered if Thunderbolt 2 is more powerful in that respect.
    I might be wrong on all of this information becuase I have read from mixed sources all over.
    As for video editors in my position, I just learned that Adobe plans to provide Mercury playback for the AMD cards that are coming in the new Mac Pro.
    Still, I always appreciate overkill and would still love external cards on top of powerful internal cards.

  • Problems running Flash Builder 4.6 profiler

    Hello,
    I have a problem running Flash Builder profiler. When I click "Profile" it starts my web application, but nothing else happens inside Flash Builder itself - no new data appears in Profiler perspective, Flash Builder itself doesn't show any sign of doing something.
    My mm.cfg contains the next line: "PreloadSwf=C:/flash builder workspace/.metadata/.plugins/com.adobe.flash.profiler/11/ProfilerAgent.swf?host=localhost &port=9999"
    Additional details:
    OS: Windows 7
    Flash Builder version: 4.6
    Tested web browsers: Firefox, IE 8 - the same problem in both of them
    Flash player versions: ActiveX/Plug-in Version:11.7.700.169
    I made sure that ProfilerAgent.swf indeed exists in the location defined in mm.cfg. In addition, I tried to change port 9999 to other ports (both in mm.cfg and in Flash Builder). I also verified that the location of ProfilerAgent.swf appears in trusted locations of Flash Player.
    I would be very grateful if someone could help me to solve this problem.
    Thanks,
    Valeria

    This sounds like something has gone wrong during installation. CSAR and CSLIBS references should be set up automatically during installation.
    There should also be no need to import the Flex SDKs as CS Extension Builder 2.0 ships with them included. It won't do any harm though having the CS Flex SDKs imported.
    Can you detail how you installed CS Extension Builder 2.0, please and where you obtained it from?
    Here are the installation instructions I would recommend starting from a clean FlashBuilder 4.6 instance:
    To install Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder, download the ZIP file and unzip it into a root location (SDKRoot).
    Install Extension Builder in Eclipse with Flash Builder or Flash Builder Standalone:
    In Eclipse, choose Help > Install New Software.
    In the Install dialog, click Add.
    In the Add Site dialog, click Local... to browse to the SDK root folder or enter the URL of the update site.
    Name the site CS SDK and click OK to confirm the changes.
    Select the new CS SDK site in the "Work with" field.
    -- Select all the Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder components.
    -- Click Next to confirm the selection.
    In the Install Details review dialog, click Next to confirm that you want to install all the components listed.
    Accept the terms of license agreements and click Finish.
    Re-start  Eclipse as recommended.
    I obtained it from Adobe and installed it using the Help > Install software option, but without unzipping it. Maybe that was it.
    Now I've done a clean installation and it works perfect. I did it with administrator permissions, don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I read it somewhere and did so just in case!
    Thanks a lot!

  • Need to know plugins name and matchname that run on the GPU

    Hi,
    I need to find all plugins (name and matchname) that works on the GPU.
    Currently I found Mettle ShapeShifter and VideoCopilot Elements.
    If you have a one of those plugins that run on the GPU, can you place it on a timeline, run this script and paste the result here ?
    Thanks
    function findFX(){
        function gothruEachLayer(comp){
            var compFX = []
            for (var i = 1; i <= comp.numLayers; i++) {
                var fx = comp.layer(i).property("Effects")
                    for (var ii = 1; ii <= fx.numProperties; ii++) {
                         var fxName = fx.property(ii).matchName;
                         compFX.push("[" +fx.property(ii).matchName +":"+fx.property(ii).name+"]")
            return compFX
        var myWindow = new Window ("dialog");
        var myMessage = myWindow.add ("edittext", [0, 0, 1200, 1000], gothruEachLayer(app.project.activeItem), {multiline: true});
        myWindow.show ( );
    findFX()

    thanks, there might be a some of those that run on the GPU. I'll need to finish my search in the next week or so.
    I think I'll have to download some trials to do that. But first I'll have to find out which plugin are GPU accelerated.
    Right now, I know that VideoCopilot Element is, as both Mettle plugins Freeform and Shapeshifter, there is both CROSSPHERE .Koizumi plugins that are available on aescripts.com.
    There is also the new CS6 renderer, ADBE Picasso.

  • How to run Flash Player Lite on Xperia X1

    Hello,
    The installed program (metronome) that I want to run needs a running Flash Lite, otherwise it will not start.
    I´ve installed the Flash Player Lite 3.0 on my Sony Ericsson Xperia. But I can not find the Flash-Lite-Program in the program-folder of the Xperia.
    Could you please help me to run my metronome programm.
    Thank you very much for your help.
    Andrew

    What you are using is a old Nightly (from May 2010) at the time (between Alpha 4 and Alpha 5 stage) for what became Firefox 4.0 release (as version changed from 3.7 to 4.0).
    You may need newer version in order to try the Flash 11 Beta.

  • Running flash and customizing

    Why won't apple make an update so that the iPhone4/any Idevice run flash player.
    It would be very usfull bc every body wants it and asks for it and I don't want to have to jailbreak it
    In order to get it. I also think that apple should take all the restricksons off the iPhone and start letting
    People costomise there phone/iPod/iPad like a jailbroken one can. And it's not just me 100000s if people think the same thing
    And if apple would to that then they would be getting much more Business bc instead of people buying from cydia they would
    Be buying from apple making them more money.  Thank you for reading this and if you could I ask you to please fell this to the apple
    CEO so that he can make some changes.

    Adobe owns flash, it was up to them to make a flash player for iOS.
    Adobe failed to make an acceptable version and have given up.
    If you don't like the iPhone and how it operates, vote with your wallet.

  • How to run flash movie in applet

    can any one give me code for running flash movie in applet

    Just realized that there is no scrolling functionality with the .swf generated from the new CS5. Can anyone help out by providing revised code for centering and scrolling?
    I found something elsewhere in the forums that worked for both centering and scrolling that worked fine yesterday, but upon visiting my site today for testing, it did not allow the scrolling, and centering did not work in Firefox. Tested both Safari and Firefox on 2 Macs running Snow Leopard.
    Again, much appreciated - nice to visit forums where people are interested in helping instead of screaming at each other. Will visit the Illustrator or Indesign forum to see if I can help out someone there...

  • Problems running Flash 11.7.700.224 on Fire Fox 22.0

    Problems running Flash 11.7.700.224 on Windows 8, browser Fire Fox 22.0. Plug-in crashing and/or not responsive messages; browser hanging and/or slow, especially when opening new windows; You Tube videos error messages; Flash not detected on Adobe Troubleshooting page, even though installed; Flash content loads but does not display in window (no frame, or black or white screen in frame). Thank you for any reply, hopefully simple -I'm not technically inclined.

    After using Flash player 11.8.800.94 for one day, it crashed.
    So, I uninstalled it using the uninstaller provided by adobe then
    disabled avast then
    reinstalled 11.8.800.94.
    Attempted to restart, but got this error message:
    The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occurred in the application at location 0x74c02005.
    While writing it down, restart reverted to desktop.
    Successfully restarted and opened FF22.0 browser and
    went here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html#main_Find_the_Flash_ Player_version_installed_on_your_machine to check version.
    I could not see the Flash movie, the version checker said that Flash Player is not installed -- even though it shows Shockwave Flash 11.8.800.94 installed on the plugins list on Fire fox add-ons manager.
    Is there a difference between Flash Player 11.8.800.94 and the latest Flash Player plugin for Fire Fox, or are they the same thing?
    I have no idea how to fix this and not finding any clear answers on any of the other discussion question pages on this topic.
    Can anyone from Adobe please help?

  • Is anyone else having problems running Flash Player on Mountain Lion?

    After installing Flash Player on my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion, my computer started crashing when I put it to sleep.  When I uninstalled Flash, I no longer had the problem.  Is anyone else having problems like this with Flash Player?  Is this an issue with Mountain Lion or Adobe?  Is there a fix for it, or am I just out of luck with the prospect of running Flash Player on my new Mac?

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
    Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
    Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
    Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
    *Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • My iMac just shuts down when running flash facebook applications, after I upgraded to Mountain Lion...Any ideas?

    After upgrading to Mountain Lion, quite often, and when I run flash facebook games, PC freezes and restarts... Any ideas??? Had no problems before with previous OS...

    I think I figured out Firefox, I went under Help > Troubleshooting Information > Reset Firefox.
    I only have one account on my computer. Honestly I don't even really know how multiple accounts work. I've never played around with it. I already allowed Java - should I disable it?
