Running forms and calling reports generates a lot of files

could anyone help me on this one...
I have a form that the users use, on that form I call reports.
Now I don't know (forms? or reports?) what keeps creating files
on the directory they run the form....there is a lot (over 200
files) files that get created, most of them are 0KB size, the
rest is not understandable. And there are 3 types of file names:
1-02120151 (only the number change, and most of them are 0kb)
2-dat00356482 (these ones start by dat.....the rest changes also.
3-idx25410224 (these also change the numbers but the idx is
always there.)
is there anything i can do, i keep deleting them but they never
stop get created....what could happen?
i use forms 4.5.

Running Forms and Reports 6i on Windows Server 2003

Hello,
Has anyone managed to get Forms and Reports 6i (running on 9iAS web) to run succesfully on Windows Server 2003? If so would you mind sharing what you needed to do to get it to work. I don't care about any of the other components of 9iAS other than forms and reports. Also is it possible to run on the 64bit version of this OS?
The problem I'm encountering (on the 64bit version of Windows) is that I can't get our webforms to launch any reports. The forms run just fine. I can run the report manually using rwrun60.exe and entering all the parameters by hand. BUT when I run the report from within the form a rwrun60.exe process starts and runs at full cpu. After a bit it dies but the form still continues to wait for it. The only way to get out is to close the browser and forcefully kill the form instance. If anyone has any ideas on what this could be any help is appreciated.

I haven't tried to run Forms and Reports on Windows Server 2003, but I have worked on Windows XP and UNIX with F/R 6i 9i and 10g. I never had much luck with 9i Forms and Reports, 10g rel 1 was better, but 10g rel 2 is best. I recommend you bite the bullet and convert to 10g AS, Forms & Reports 10g rel 2. After running your 6i F/R to 10g through the converter, you may need to adjust fonts and colors.
Regarding your specific question, I am surprised that the rwrun60 works at all with 9i AS. And rwrun90 probably won't run the 6i version of your reports without recompiling in the 9 version.

As per my findings the After Parameter is fired after the Parameters are given to the report and Before Report fires when the queries are parsed and data is fetched.

Put your request on a dashboard and you will see a print to button on th bottom left corner. Now you can save to pdf.

Images in HTML forms and/or reports

Hi,
Apologies if a stupid question, but can you display a combination of data and image content in Portal HTML forms and/or reports? If so, how?
This question assumes that the image in question is browser-supported (e.g. gif file), and the link to it is in the same database table as the data being reported (as a bfile data type).
Alternatively, what if the image was actually directly stored in the database table as a BLOB data type?

You can build portal forms to upload images. You can use blob columns here. You can also have images in a report. This will be the SQL to query data from tables having intermedia data.

No, you cannot run any program from AppDesigner. This is a development tool.
However, without the front end application, you could be able to run programs through the commands lines (PSSQR/PSAE...)

Here are the steps you need to follow while building Portlets .
1) After creating a Application,in the last step click on the Checkbox 'EXPOSE AS PROVIDER'.
If the application has already been created ,click on the same checkbox in the grant access section.
2) When creating a component within the application ,select the checkbox 'PUBLISH TO PORTAL'.
Incase ,you have already created the component then just click on the same option in the grant access section.
Now when you want to add these portlets to be part of a page .Just select the provider(Application) and the portlets under it.

When we talk about Oracle9i, we often mean the database version 9i.
Apparently you want to use Forms and Reports 9i, which included in the obsolete (and very unhappy) Application Server 9i. ... Or the also obsolete Application Server 10g Release 1 (aka App Server 9.0.4.
You are encouraged to look at Forms and Reports 10g (part of the improved Application Server 10g) which does connect to Oracle Database 9i as well as Oracle Database 10g. Look for App Server 10g Release 2, version 10.1.2.0.2 and 10.1.2.2)

However, this does not work for older psd files which for some reason cannot be opened in RAW. How do I return to the process of simply allowing RAW files to open automatically in Adobe RAW, and simply right clicking on the image in Bridge to bring up the option of opening it in Photoshop?

Calling Reports from Forms, and creating Reports objects

Hello I'm trying to create a Form which lists and launches all of our Reports. In our Client/Server set up we just have a Form which is based on a lookup table of Reports. When the user selects a report on the Form RUN_PRODUCT is used to call the report.
In Forms 9, do I have to create a Report object in the Form for every Report in our system and do I really have to modify the Form every time a new Report is created to add the new Report in?

No, one single report object could fit for any report, if you modify its properties at runtime. 
For information, I have written a Forms 9i module able to run any report with 0 up to 10 parameters

FlexUnit4 - Tests run but runner has to be manually closed and no reports generated.

I am trying out FlexUnit4 and using ant to build the tests.
I built my ant script on the one from the FlexUnit4SampleCIProject.
The test from that project run, the runner automatically closes and the reports are generated, my project however does not close the runner and generate reports.
I am using flexsdk 3.3
What could i be doing wrong?

Mike and I worked through the race condition issue this evening/morning and new code should be in SVN as you read this post. The short of it was that sometimes the FlashPlayer would spin up faster than the socket on the Java side and data was being lost along the way. We've implemented a handshake between the CIListener and the Ant task so we can guarantee that things are working correctly now. I've also done a shallow refactoring of the code to decouple some responsibilities so we can more easily test things going forward. I've also updated the threading code to use stuff from Java 5, so going back to Java 1.4 will be a pain, but is still feasible with a few extra JARs.
Let us know how it goes.

the first step to give only 9i form server and report server(or services, a buzz word) only is good. But the key issue to adopt the limited 9iAS is whether it must use Oracle LDAP SSO server, if so, then it will have trouble to buy it as it will force to buy full 9ias again.
E.G., the Chrysler corporate standard is to Websphere, then it prohibits our team to buy another set of similar app. server. Now we like the limited form/report server edition, but before we go ahead to apply for permission to buy, we must also answer if it will work with no Oracle LDAP SSO etc.
Will the 9.0.4 limited edition work with non-oracle LDAP/SSO ? Or generally, will 9.0.4 be open enough to work with other application server/infrastructure?

JSP HTML parameter form to call report - Dependent drop down list

I have a report parameter form developed using HTML & JSP to call oracle reports6i.
First parameter "STATES", Second Parameter "CITY"
I have a master-detail relation betwen STATE & CITY table.
I want the parameter form drop down lists dependant. ie if the user chang STATE value in the first drop down, the second drop down list CITY shoud
change automatically.

This is not functionality that's available in the Reports generated parameter form. In order to do this you'll need to build the parameter form yourself as a true HTML form and code the javascript to link the fields.
