Running GarageBand (or any app) From an iPod?

Does anyone know if this is do-able? This is what sparked the thought:

Simply put, just have a nice compact and relatively inexpensive (buying off eBay or refurb market) FW HD to run apps from that could also do double duty as an iPod should the need arise.
Here's what the developer wrote on the MacCentral thread:

How do I sync an app from my iPod Touch to iPad 1 without losing its data?

I am using a baseball simulator app called 9 Innings on my iPod Touch. Is it possible to sync this app from my iPod to my iPad 1 without losing all of the data? (season stats, milestones, etc.) When I tried to sync it to my iPad, I had to start all over from scratch. Any help? Thanks.

App data and app settings are contained in the iDevice backup and not stored in iTunes on your computer. Syncing the app will not sync the game save progress to your iPad. The progress should be saved if you restore the iPad from th iPod backup. The only problem with this is - if you restore the iPad from the iPod backup - all of the data that was on the iPod will now be on the iPad.
So if you absolutely have to have the game synced to the iPad with all of the saved data in place, the only way to do that is to restore the iPad from the iPod backup and then sync the game to the iPad - or download it again via the purchased tab in the App Store.

The hard drive on my old computer failed so I no longer have access to my itunes library that was saved onto that computer. Is there anyway I can transfer my music and apps to my new computer? Install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
That will re download and install the App Store for you which may help.
It's ok to install the combo even though you are already running v10.6.8
Restart your Mac after combo is installed, try downloading apps.
Note... if you have Little Snitch installed that will prevent downloads. If you have anti virus software installed, disable that and turn off the Firewall in System Prefereces > Security.

Holding down the center/select button and the menu button will reboot your ipod. See if that helps. Also, I'd recommend something else- I had nothing but trouble with my ipod classic until I spent $20 to get Mac OS Mountain Lion. It did what you said and sometimes wouldnt play, or wouldnt power on...
Try rebooting your ipod and let me know what happens and maybe in the future obtain Mountain Lion to aide your ipod in functionality.

If you installed Leopard that is why you can't install Mt Lion. The system Must be running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to upgrade to Lion or Mt Lion.
If you only erased the Macintosh HD partition then you left the Mt Lion Recovery HD partition in tact on that system. At startup hold down the Command+r keys to boot to the Recovery HD Partition. From there erase the Macintosh HD partition and then select Reinstall Mac OS X. It should then download Mt Lion and ask you for the Apple ID that was used to purchase Mt Lion.
The Reason Snow Leopard might not be installing is because of the Recovery HD partition. To get rid of that you must First Re-Partition the drive As One Partition. Then install Leopard then SL (Or Snow Leopard from the start) and then update it to 10.6.8. Once that is done you should be able to log on to the Mac App Store and Re-Download Mt Lion.

It depends on the game. If the game itself supports iCloud-based saves or account saves (say for instance you login with an email address/password) and is NOT tied to the device's universally unique identifier (UUID), then everything may transfer over to the new device. But then again, it may not. As mentioned, UUID is used on some games/apps and ties that particular device to the save game (or other data).
The only way to know for sure is to install the game/app on the new device and try it. You'll need to be using the same Apple ID to download the game to the new device (or repurchase it if it's under a different Apple ID) and you'll probably need to also login/sign in to any associated accounts for the game.

I can't search any videos on YouTube/Download any app from the App Store

Hi,
I am using movistar 3G network (Spain), full signal. Everything works fine, Stock app, Weather app, Mail, Safari... but I can't search for any videos on YouTube and can't download any app from the App Store.
I can see videos on YouTube app but only the featured videos, when I try to search the ones I want to see I get an error message "Cannot connect to YouTube".
The only problem is when searching videos on YouTube app.
When I try to download an app from the App Store I get a similar error message, "The download can´t be done, connect to iTunes" more or less, that's the sense of the message.
I can connect to the AppStore, surf it but when I press Install... I get the error message.
I know that my carrier, movistar (Spain) has an issue with secure webs (https), it's impossible to surf any secure web by now but I don´t know if this is related with my problems.
This happens with 2.1 and 2.2 firmware version.
I have the iPhone set in spanish from Spain and the time is right. By the way, using WiFi everything works fine, everything, I can search for videos on YouTube app and download apps from the AppStore.
I don´t know what more can I do, can someone help me? please. = (

FWIW, the only part of Java not installed is the Java Runtime Environment. Launch the Java Preferences.app in /Utilities and DL it when prompted. Then, enable plugins and Web Start apps.
