Running headers not displaying correctly in PDF

I have running headers in my document to show the chapter number. It was all working fine until I made some changes to the main text, now all my running headers show 'chapter 1' when I generate a PDF. They all look absolutely fine in the ID document.
I've tried generating the PDF on a different computer, and still get the same result.
I'm using CS5.5 on Windows 8.
Any help gratefully received.

Thank you, Eugene.
I eventually exported all the files as individual PDFs, and that way the running headers were fine; it just won't do it if I export the entire book.
I tried the IDML method and it messed up the formatting in the files.

  • Some of Chinese character is not displaying correctly in PDF output

    Hi all
I'm involved in the 1st Peoplesoft project in Korea and having a difficulty with displaying Chinese character in PDF output.
Usually Koreans can translate their name in Chinese and that Chinese name is displayed in personal information in their company as well as Korean name.
With Oracle BI Publisher I made rtf template that includes employees' Chinese name and tried to export to PDF output.
Most of Chinese character was fine but '李' character that was ok in HTM output was crashed in PDF output.
So I researched and tested some solutions.
    Here's what I did.
I downloaded and installed five fonts(ALBANWTS.ttf, ALBANWTT.ttf, ALBANWT.ttf, ALBANWTK.ttf, ALBANWTJ.ttf) in client machine(c:\windows\fonts\) and did mapping job with xdo.cfg configuration file.
After that I previewed PDF output in the rtf template and checked embeded fonts in the PDF file.
I can see the newly installed font was embeded but still '李' character is crashed.
My problem is little bit different from others becuase only one Chinese character is crashed by for now.
The Chinese character '李' is very common last name in Korea and I believe Simplified Chinese character font have in it.
Please let me know if you have any solutions or experiance.
    Thanks and best regards

I've been tried to solve this problem for a long time and

When I open a pdf in Adobe Acrobat xi pro it is not displaying correctly. If a file is all black with orange writing, I will see only the orange writing. Its not until i print it or open crop pages dialog box that i see the background.
    i am on a Windows 7 professional PC, 64-bit.

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • Pdf not displayed correctly in preview

We have a new A) scanner (colortrac Ci40) and when we scan a pdf it is displayed in preview as if it is all wrinkled up.
Only in prewiew and if imorted in vectorworks. (on both OSX 10.5 and 10.6)
The same problem appears on a iPad.
    It is not displayed correctly.
In all other programms I tried it is displayed properly.
We also have a small a4/a3 scanner from konica minolta and these scans display corectly in preview.
Is this only a preview problem and should I ignore it?

    Hi there,
I have a very similar problem: a number of pdf files that I can see perfectly well in Safari/GoogleChrome do NOT show correctly in Preview or ANY iPad app I have (Notability, Adobe, PDF Expertm iAnnotate, Dropbox etc.).
The problem is that punctuation -- with the expection of periods or bolded text -- does not show properly. For example, commas and quotation marks to not show, and some numbers to not show.
Moreover, once I have annotated/viewed the problematic file on the IPad and resync to dropbox to view on Mac vis Adobe (which I do with most pdf files with no problems), I get an error message upon reopening the pdf file saying "Cannot extract the embedded font 'FAFWQV+--unknown-2--'. Some characters may not display or print correctly." (the 'quoted' text changes each time). When opening in Preview, no error message appears, though the fole is still lacking punctuation etc.
Here is a link to one problematic pdf:http://niis.cass.cn/upload/2012/12/d20121201200145301.pdf
NB: the file is in Mandarin, however I can successfully open/edit/annotate/sync other pdfs using Mandarin font so I'm not sure if the language is related to the problem.
I would be extremely grateful for some help with this please!
    Thanks!

  • Links do not display correctly in my pdf

www and http are not displaying in pdf files converted from MS Word
When I convert a Word document to pdf using Acrobat Pro 9.0, the website addresses do not display correctly. For instance, if my document shows www.website.com - then the pdf only displays .website.com. Also, if I have the http://www.website.com - I get ://www.website.com. Please HELP! I remember having this problem when I used the trial version of Acrobat 9.0, at the time, I just removed the link & the document converted fine. For this file, I REALLY need the links to be active.
For now, I have resorted to using a pdfmaker that costs about $5 on e-bay. It works just fine - why doesn't my Adobe Acrobat work?

PDF maker is the part of AA9 Pro that converts the links for you. You did not say how you are creating the PDFs, but you have to use PDF Maker (the create PDF button in WORD) to get the links correct, or add them manually in Acrobat.
I have no idea what PDF Maker you are talking about for $5 a day, since it is part of your package and is thus no additional cost. If you are printing to the Adobe PDF printer, you are not using PDF Maker.

  • PDF's in Mail and Preview not displaying correctly

Ever since upgrading to Yosemite PDF's are not displaying correctly. Every time i generate a PDF of a sales quote it seems to lose a lot of information.
    But the strange thing is.....
Preview and Mail both show PDF with missing text.
When I open using "Quick Look Attachment" within Mail or Adobe Acrobat it looks perfect.
When emailed, recipients (mostly Windows users) seem to have no problem opening it and seeing all text.
So far seen that issue is only in Preview and Mail
Only has happened since upgrading to Yosemite
PDF is created using web based ZOHO CRM to build quotes.
See image below to see the difference in what Mail and Preview sees compared with how other apps open the same PDF.
NOTE: sensitive info has been purposely blurred on image.

Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

  • Colors in pdf files not displayed correctly on linux acroread

I have recently observed that the colors in certain pdf files are not displayed correctly in acroread on Linux. Other readers such as evince get it right. Examples are a presentation with white arrows on  a black background which come out as black on black. I suspect, but have not proved, that the files were produced on Mac OS. I see this in acroread version 9.5.1 on a couple of versions of Linux. I googled this but could find no-one else mentioning it. Has anyone else seen it. Looks like a serious bug to me.

Does this happen with other PDFs on the server? You might check out the Adobe forums.

  • Chinese Bookmarks not displayed correctly even if fonts are embedded in PDF

We currently have a problem with Chinese PDFs containing bookmarks. All content is displayed correctly in PDF Reader, but the bookmarks are shown as squares, even though correct font (Sim Sun) is embedded in the PDF.
Display results of bookmarks are different from pc to pc. Seems to be depending on the installed system fonts. But why does the PDF Reader does not use the embedded fonts for the bookmarks?
    BR
    Bernd

Bookmarks don't use embedded fonts - you will see that they do not vary with the PDF. Like the rest of the text around the PDF (window titles, dialog captions, buttons...) it uses system fonts. So you need system support  for the Chinese (simplified or traditional) used in the PDF. I suspect this won't be a problem for most of the people who could read the Chinese, at least.

  • Report does not display correctly when exported to adobe

    Post Author: mgisonda
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Hopefully someone can help me. I am currently running Crystal Reports profession version 10. I have applied service pack 1 and recently service pack 6. I am having a problem with the display of a report within adobe. My report is a bit complex. It is a 8.5x11 one page landscape report. It is set up in a grid format with multiple lines and boxes drawn on it. Here is the report information: Report Definition----
Number of Database Fields:   144     Number of On-Demand Formulas:   40     UFLs in use:   None     Page N of M Used:   No     File Format Schema:   10.2.0    I created the report using CR developer. I use the report within a web project. The user requests the report and it returns to the user, an adobe file of the report. However, this is where I am having trouble. On my local development machine, the report displays fine. In CR developer, the report displays fine. When I export the report to Adobe from the CR Developer, it exports fine. BUT when I run the report from my web site, the adobe file that is returned is broken up over 42 pages. What seems to be actually happening is the return adobe file seems to think that the page size is 2in X 4in.. Where it got that, I don't know. The server running IIS is a windows server 2003. It has adobe 8.0 reader on it. I also have Crystal 10 Server Distribution loaded on it. And I have loaded CR10 Service pack 6 on that as well. Hi Paul
You're more likely to get an answer to this if you post in the UNIX forum.
By the looks of it, you may have a problem with your fonts.

  • Date can not display correctly in excel from .jsp

    Hi,
I create a .jsp report to export the data to excel. the report run OK, except the date field can not display correctly.
for example in database :start date ='01-oct-2003'
in the except it displays to 02/06/02.
It seem all the date field can not be control in the report, and control by somthing else
Doese anyone come accross this problem?
    Thanks

    Hi Rong,
Are you using the following demonstration to build your JSP?
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/demonstrations/index.html
(Output to Excel with Oracle9i Report)
I tried to do the same, and inserted a database date field in the JSP using Reports. I found the following:
While making the template inside Excel, if I make sure that the format of the date cells is "Date" - some particular date format, the date field values from Reports does not get exported correctly.
However, if you make sure that inside the template, the format of the date cells is not date, but "General", then the date field values are correctly exported to Excel.
Pl try it and let us know.
    Navneet.

  • Why is Times New Roman not displaying correctly in Illustrator CS5?

  • Eurosign not displayed correctly when picked from database

    Hi ..
I'm having a problem getting a eurosign stored in an Oracle Database to be displayed correctly in my Crystal Reports 11.5.
When using the built in (preview) Crystal Viewer, the eurosign is displayed correctly, but when I want to print the report directly to a printer or to export it to pdf the eurosign is displayed as a box?
It only haapens when i need to pick the eurosign from the database. If I insert in a textbox on the report, it will show correctly.
    Please Help.
    Best regards,
    Jacob

What is the source of the text stored in the database. I ran into an issue a ways back where someone was copying news articles from a website into their database and the euro symbol would not display correctly (unless the option HTML Text Interpretation was used).
    You might want to do a quick check to see if it is stored as an ascii character using a formula similar to the following;
    asc(mid({database, x, 1}))
where x = the position of the euro symbol in the string.
The formula result should be 128.

Try this without the border images and it will work in all browsers with increased text size. That's assuming eBay supports embedded CSS styles (which I'm not convinced they do).  Inline styles are safer IMHO.

  • Adobe Illustrator file will not display correctly when logged in as a user

I am working with an Adobe Illustrator CS2 file that will open and display correctly if I log in as Administrator, but will not display correctly if I am logged on as a user. The error message is that there is not enough memory to display the file correctly and I am forced into preview mode. The user Home folder is on a server. Other than this, I have made certain that the criteria for opening the file match under both interfaces. I have opened the AI CS2 file on other Macs and it opens fine. I conclude that the problem is with the user Home folder, but beyond that, I'm stumped. Any help will be appreciated.

After I filed a bug-report an Apple engineer contacted me, and asked me to try running java in headless mode: http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/J2SE/Desktop/headless/
    That solved the problem!

  • Reader X does not display drawing in PDF generated with LaTeX

I have a quite large PDF generated by pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.11 which contains also XY-pic drawings rendered with Xy-pic version 3.8.2, PDF driver v.1.4.
One drawing does not display correctly in Adobe Reader X. Neither on Windows, neither on Mac. It does display correctly with following programs:
Preview on Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6
    Adobe Reader 9.x
    Skim (skim-app.sf.net).
When I open this document with Adobe Reader X I get following error message when I hit page 58:
"An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem".
Where does one report rendering problems?
