Running iOS 8 on iPhone 6 Screen shifts down

My entire screen shifts down when I have my finger placed on the home button. Maybe itouch reads my finger print and the screen shifts down. It doesn't happen often. It's random. So far it has happened on the home screen, while I'm using Twitter, and line or viewing photos in the photo app. So it doesn't seem to be an app issue. It usually happens when I'm about to press the home button. Or maybe I have already pressed it.

No, that is the Reachability feature so you can reach the top portion of the screen without moving your finger. You might want to take a look at the User Guide to check on other features you might not be aware of. http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

  • Iphone 6 - Screen shifts down?

I can be at the home screen (with my icons) or looking at my pictures or on a Safari web page- and suddenly it will shift down to a half screen (with one half being black space).  Any reason for this?
    Example: viewing apple.com on Safari:
    Thanks
    Katherine

the shifting down I am experiencing is not like the Reachability tool.  For the home screen the icons shift down half-way with just the background displaying.  If I am in Safari, pictures, settings anything else - the top half is just empty black space.  It can go up and down several times before either stopping or me touching it upwards.

Downloaded new iOS for iPhone 5. Now the handset is running hot, keeps freezing on different screens, won't charge on official charger ( only charges on crap poundland one) and battery is loosing 1% every two minutes! I've closed all apps and reset the complete phone but no luck. Any one know what else I can try apart from a new phone?

I have done a factory reset at 45% battery. After the reset it's still hot and at 35% now

  • I am unable to unlock my iPhone 4. When I swipe to unlock, a woman's voice comes on and says "screen locked." I am running IOS 7.1

When I try to swipe to unlock my iPhone 4, I am unable to do so. A woman's voice comes on saying: "screen locked." I am running IOS 7.1 What could be causing this problem, please and how can I resolve it?

Tap on the "slide to unlock" text, and after you hear the voice, double tap the text. If you have a passcode, tap the letter, wait for the voice, and double tap the letter. Repeat for each letter.
Then go to Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver OFF. You may also be able to turn it off by triple pressing the home button.

  • Does the iPhone 4 on iOS 7 have the shifting home screen?

So I don't consider myself a newbe in any way as far as iPhone's go. I have studied and know more then most of the apple guys. But I did notice that iOS 7 has a shifting home screen in the background when you shake the phone. And my iPhone 4 isn't doing that. Its compass seems to work so it doesn't seem like the hardware is off. I am just not sure if the iPhone 4 has the ability on iOS 7 to do that. The other day I spend over an hour scorning the internet for the answer but I could not find either a yes or a no answer. I have already gone into settings and made sure the reduce motion was off in the Accessibility section. when its on the folders and apps don't bounce into the screen. but nothing else changes because there is no shifting home screen. I would just like to know if the iPhone 4 has that capability on iOS 7 like the others do. if not which devices don't. If any one knows let me know. I am not as familiar with the newer iOS systems as I am with the old ones.
    Old iPhone man

Disable Reduce Motion - if that's turned on you won't see the background "move"

Backup and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.

After the new update of the latest iOS, I noticed a yellowish color on the sides of my iPhone 5 screen (Top,Down,Left,Right). Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank You.

It is highly unlikely that any iOS update could cause this.
Try a restore as new, if the problem persists, take the device to Apple for evaluation.

  • How do you remove camera icon on lock screen on iPhone 5 running iOS 7

How do you remove camera icon on iPhone 5 running iOS 7

I was on a long call. I locked the phone and slipped it in my pocket. Apparently the lock screen camera had activated though it had not taken any shots . The result was post my 40 odd minute call when I pulled the phone out to disconnect I discovered the camera was active and phone was hot and battery had reduced for 92% to around 50%. This seems a serious flaw in design...

  • Spotlight black/grey background on iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.0.2

on my iPhone 6 plus running iOS 8.0.2, when pulling down from any screen to reveal Spotlight search bar, the entire screen goes into black/grey color. No matter what I try it stays this way. Any ideas how to fix this? I don't have any accessibilities turned on except reduce noise when calling.

    Hi wenyang steven,
If you are having issues with your iPhone showing a grey screen when you try to do a spotlight search, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I'm currently running ios 5 beta on my iphone 4 and when i woke up this morning my phone had decided to automatically update the software OTA. After connecting to wifi and switching on location i proceeded to follow the instructions 'slide to setup'. I was informed that it may take 3 minutes to activate phone but was then presented with the screen 'Could not Activate iphone', this is because the activation server is unavailable. Can anybody shed some light on this for me?
    Many thanks

Can anybody shed some light on this for me?
Not here. iOS5 beta is only available to registered developers, and discussing it publicly outside of the private developer forums is a violation of the non-disclosure agreement you signed to access the beta.

  • Why does deleting a calendar appointment on an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0.2 not send a cancellation notice to attendees?

The company I work for runs Microsoft Exchange 2010 servers on premise. I have an Exchange account configured on my iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0.2. I am finding that if I choose to Delete an event from the Calender app on the iphone, the event is being removed from the iphone, and from the Exchange server, but the other people that are invited to the meeting are not receiving cancellation notices, nor is the event being deleted from their Exchange calendars. Why not?

I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought  last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S.  Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.
    Discouraged....

  • Can't restore iPhone 4S running iOS 7.0.3 via iTunes?

In the summary screen for my iPhone in iTunes, there is no option given to restore the iPhone to its factory settings.  Also, under "back ups," I am able to back up the information on my phone to my computer, but the "restore back up" option is grayed out.  I was told by AT&T yesterday when I paid out of my cell contract with them that I needed to back up my phone and then restore it to jailbreak the phone so that I could go with a different provider.  Does anyone have advice for me on this?  Thank you!

    Hello Sabina,
Try to restore your iPhone by taking it in Recovery Mode, but make sure you have turned off Find My iPhone before Restoring your iPhone to Factory settings.
To Turn of Find My iPhone, go to Settings> iCloud> Turn off Find My iPhone and if prompted for password enter your Apple Id Password.
Now follow the steps below to take your iPhone in Recovery Mode and then Restore it.
Make sure you have Latest Version of iTunes (11.1.3) Downloaded and Installed on your Computer, if not then you can download the latest version of iTunes from the Link below. http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/Now once you have the Updated version of iTunes installed on your computer follow the below steps to get your iPhone in Recovery Mode and Then restore it to factory settings Open iTunes Application on your computer and then start the process step by step
1>Disconnect your device from the computer (if connected). The process won’t work if you start with the iPhone connected to the computer. Leave the cable connected to the iPhone, as you will be reconnecting the iPhone to the Computer later in the process.
2>Power down your device. Turn off your device by holding down the Power button ( On Top right corner of iPhone). When the power slider appears, slide it to the right. Wait for your device to completely shut down before continuing.
3> Press and hold the Home button (Home Button is located at bottom of your iPhone screen/display). With the Home button held connect the device to your computer with the USB cable. When reconnected, your device should turn on. (If the low battery screen appears, charge your device for a few minutes and try the process again.)
4> Continue holding the Home button. After a few moments, you will see the "Connect to iTunes" screen on your device. This screen is a picture of an arrow pointing from a USB cable to the iTunes logo. When you see the screen you can release the Home button.
5> iTunes will display a message stating that a device in recovery mode has been connected. From there you can proceed to restore your iOS device. Once you see this message click on OK and then click on Restore Once you click on Restore iTunes will download the Latest available version of iPhone software (ipsw file) in your computer and after the download is completed the same will be restored in your iPhone . You will see the Download process and Restore process on top of your iTunes screen. Once the restore is completed your iPhone will automatically restart and you will see a message that iPhone has been Restored and will connect after restart. Now you will have to follow some steps on your iPhone to Customize your iPhone for First Use. Hope this process will help you

  • My iphone 4s shuts down after update to iOS 7.1!

My 4s shuts down every time, almost every hour but only since I updated it to 7.1!
I tried everything but nothing helped. No resetting, no going back to factory settings, no pressing Home Button + Power button.
The staff in Apple Store told me that my phone hardware and battery i ok so it has to do wih the software 7.1
They can't fo anything and I have to wait for an update!!
Does anyone has the same problem or a solution?
    Thank you.

In Apple Store, they told me that it is a hardware problem and my phone isn't able to use the new iOS 7.1 because my phone is too old but it's only 2,5 years old.
I suspect that something in that conversation was seriously misunderstood.  The iPhone 4S runs iOS 7 without any issues.
If the device has a hardware issue, then it does not matter what version of iOS is on the device, it will not function properly.

7.1.1 is certainly compatible with the iPhone 4. Just try a reset first.
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
