Running ISQLPLUS

When trying to run the isqlplus we cannot access it. Access can be achieve through the localhost but when adding the port number and /isqlplus the results end up being unable to find such a directory. Any information that would be helpful would be appreciated. Thank you.

Ryan,
Did you check any of the configuration files I mentioned? I can't do much more to help you if you haven't gone through the configuration to make sure it is okay.
Here are a couple more tips.
I am using RedHat Linux 7.2 and I still can not figure
out how to get isqlplus to run. I have type in
http://localdomain/isqlplus and it gives me an error
message that reads: Not Found
The requested URL /isqlplus was not found on this server.http://localdomain/isqlplus will not help you. "localdomain" means nothing. You could try "localhost", or "127.0.0.1" instead.
Apache/1.3.20 Server at class.moreheadstate.edu Port 80
Apache is running but isqlplus gives that message every
time I add /isqlplus. I can get my local domain page to
come up and it says TEST PAGE across the top because i
have not changed it yet. Is there anything that you can
think of that will fix the problem that I am
encountering.I checked the URL http://class.moreheadstate.edu and it isn't available. Perhaps this is inside a firewall?
You say you can see your local domain page and it says TEST PAGE. This doesn't sound like it's the server that's running iSQL*Plus. The default page for the Oracle HTTP Server running iSQL*Plus will have a heading of "Oracle HTTP Server".
I think you might be looking at the wrong web server(s). Try reading the documentation, and the information in this thread to get a better understanding of how to get started.

  • Port Number in Oracle9i for running isqlplus

    Hi all,
Just yesterday I installed Oracle9i in my PC which OS is WinXP. After installing, I faced a problem whenever I tried to run isqlplus.
Because from Oracle Enterprise Manager console I found Host (pc) & PORT (1521). So, when in IE i gave (http://pc:1521/isqlplus) it couldn't run. But after so many attempt, when I use PORT No. 80 instead of 1521, isqlplus window was open and run successfully.
Now my question is : Why PORT NUMBER is change from Console Manager & WinXP port no.?
Can any one clarify this? Does it differ in various OS?

    Hi user514582,
I don't know why the port has changed but here is the solution to change it back:

    Hello,
I would like to respond to your query/question.
The Port Numbers allocated to the Operating System (OS) cannot be used by any other applications. They are specific to Operation System only.
The Port Numbers are specific to the Oracle Database (1521). This port number is the one which is used by any client machine trying to connect to the Oracle Database trying to serve / listen to any requests at this designated port. Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) is a console application that can be used to monitor and configure your Database and Application Servers.
Application Server (Apache) is installed as a part of the Oracle Installation, there is a different Port number allocated to this, which is Port 80 in this case and thats the reason, when you try to connect to isqlplus using 1521 it gives an error and when you try top connect using Port 80, it successfully displays the appropriate page.
All Applications requiring and running on Apache/Application Server will use the Port 80 to run and all Database requests will be routed via the Port 1521.
Hope this information helps and clarifies the doubts.

  • ISQLPLUS executes then Internet Exployer goes blank.

    Hello,
I'm student running Oracle 9i on a Windows XP Pro with IE 7.
Everything is working well until I execute a sql statement using the ISQLPLUS.
    IE 7 simply goes blank/loses connection/........
I login into ISQLPLUS using Firefox and experience zero problems.
I'm pretty sure this is a IE7 problem, however I thought I'd ask here if anybody had a simply "cure" for this problem.
    Thanks for reading....

Do you run iSQLPLUS in SSL mode (URL starts with https, not http). There is a known problem with IE and secure connections.

    Thanks again everyone...
Im testing the url at the local server and im using I.E 5.0.
For oem i checked that the OracleDBconsoleORCL service is started
i guess this is the same as starting emctl at command line.
The server name is HPG4. when i run the url at the local server
    http://HPG4:1158/em will display blank while...
    http://localhost:1158/em is ok
and when i run http://HPG4:1158/em at another client pc the result is also ok.
For isqlplus i checked that the OracleOraDb10g_home1iSQL*Plus service is
started and i think this is the same with starting the isqlplusctl at command line.
for isqlplus the default port is 5561.
When i run isqlplus both at the client and local server gives the same
error (PAGE CAN NOT BE DISPLAYED) is shown. There must be error in the
configuration of isqlplus i guess :(

  • I can't run Enterprise manager in my server

Hi all i have aserious problem with oracle 10g Enterprise manager .i have install oracle 10 g and also i installed enterprise manager Grid Controller but i can't find this in start menu second i tried to run it from internet explore by writing
http:\\my server name :port number\em but always it give me this page cann't be displayed and i have successed to run Isqlplus with the same way so please i need to find where can i search for the correct address to this enterprise manger URL in my server or tell me what is the steps to solve this problem
my windows is windows xp sp2 and i put the oracle home in E:\ drive
    thanks
    ihab gouhar

    Hi Ihab Gouhar,
also i installed enterprise manager Grid Controller
but i can't find this in start menu second i tried
to run it from internet explore by writing
http:\\my server name :port number\em but always it
give me this page cann't be displayed and i haveHow to start and stop the "services" should be documented. If install was successful, you should have several Oracle<homename>* entries in the Windows Services control panel - some of these are part of the "grid control".
You can find OEM docu here, even if not quite up to speed with how other docu libraries are organized: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/oem.html
Read about post install in chapter 4, Getting started... of the OEM Grid Control Install and Basic Config guide. Starting and stopping, both on Unix and Windows is detailed in Adv. Config guide, chapter 2:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B12013_03/toc.htm
Note that "oracle 10g" is mostly a marketing label, and does not give away anything about what is actually installed (could be some product out of any of the suites; AS, DS, DB, OEM, ...).

  • JDeveloper 10g seriousn errors on isqlplus configure

I have the Oracle database running on my Apple Powerbook. I can use the SQL*Plus interface and execute queries etc.
jDeveloper works too. However, the 9.0.3 release of jDeveloper gave me problems when trying to run iSQLPlus. Most folk agreed it was not supported.
So I thought maybe the new 10g jDeveloper will have things sorted? With the 10g release I get the following error message when trying to configure iSQLplus from the Tools menu, so any ideas what I'm doing wrong?:

    Hi,
Would you like to cross post this question to the JDeveloper forum as no-one from JDeveloper regularly monitors this forum. Also it would help if you give a bit more detail about the test steps that you were trying. I am affraid that I am not familiar with what you are trying to do.
    Thanks,

  • ISQL*Plus - How to use it?

I don't have any kind of database installed in my PC nor do I intend to do so. I want to use SQLPlus on a remote database. People here mentioned I could do that with iSQLPlus.
I went to the following site http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe9ir2/obe-mng/isqlplus/isqlplus.htm.
It mentions that a database installation is needed to run iSQLPlus. Then one of the guys in this forum mentioned that a database installation is not needed.
If anyone has successfully used iSQLPlus please help me set it up.

    Hi,
    You can use this links:
    - [Introduction to iSQL*Plus, 1 of 3 |http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/A88826_01/ch1.htm]

You can also use SQL Developer (it's free) this tool provides a graphical interface so users can browse the database, run SQL, PL/SQL and SQL*Plus statements, execute SQL scripts, and edit and debug PL/SQL statements, and much more...

  • SP2-0915: Cookies may have been disabled

Hi folks: I am getting an error "SP2-0915: Cookies may have been disabled" when I try to run a query using iSLQ*Plus. My configuration is the following:
    Browser: Netscape 7.1 or IE 6.0 SP1
    O/S: Windows 2K Workstation SP4
Oracle Database: Oracle 9i Personal running on my local workstation.
HTTP Server: Oracle Apache HTTP server
Through iSQL*Plus, I can login to any of my database instances (e.g. scott or HR) without any problem. I can't execute any queries!
I have modified all my settings in both NS and IE to accept all cookies, and followed all the steps in every readme file etc. that I can find related to the setup & configuration of iSLQ*Plus. I have search far and wide (including Metalink, Google web and groups) and have nothing that helps... I would be most grateful to anyone who can assist me in solving this problem. Many thanks in advance!

Hi Alison, thanks again for your reply. As it turns out, the problem was caused by my Zone Alarms Pro firewall. Once I shutdown ZA, iSQLPlus worked perfectly. I had tried all sorts of different settings in ZA, one at a time, but nothing made any difference. I had even changed a couple of settings in my Norton AV 2003 but that didn't help either. When I go to use iSQLPlus now, I do a ipconfig /release to release my current IP (so I am not connect to the 'net) and then shutdown ZA. I have a few ideas on what the conflict is between ZA and running iSQLPlus but thats for another day S

  • 10g dbconsole

    Hi,
I installed oracle 10g on a machine running windows XP SP1.
There is nothing on this machine except the OS.
Everything went smoothly until i tried to log to
    //localhost:5500/em
    I checked the port number
    I define the Oracle_sid variable
    I started dbconsole
    Still no answer.
Read many post. Tried to create new DB. Still no answer.
Swear a lot, smoke a lot, drank a little. Still no ...
    Any suggestion
    Guy

actually there is a patch since end of august on metalink.
called 10.1.3 or so, just 450 MB !
it is a PATCH, you need an installed 10g rdbms.
just downloaded it, no experience installing it yet.
playing around with 10g on windows 2000 professional already quite some time.
    machine 1 : 1GB RAM, 1.6 Ghz, 3GB virtual memory
    machine 2 : 500 MB RAM, 1.0 Ghz, 3 GB virtual memory
    mixed success so far.
at least on one machine, every second boot succeeds starting up the rdbms, so I'll can run iSqlPlus and EnterpriseManager, it it impressive when it's running otherwise you just find this dreadful message in listener.log about some thing being blocked.
    I swear :
    boot , check alert.log, OK,
reboot , check alert.log, not OK,
    reboot , check alert.log, OK,
reboot , check alert.log, not OK,
    ... ad absurdum ...
Otherwise just connecting from DOS-Box to sys/sys_pwd as sysdba and doing a 'alter database mount' and 'alter database open' .
Great job, may be I'll employ somebody who can count to 2.
Anyway, understood so far, there is more trouble for installations not going the american_america environment setting way.
We are just in a mixed Microsoft-Oracle breeding hell.
You may compare it to the current availability-state of this forum.
I really do think the old rules of reliabilty make sense :
    - stability of a system is a function of parts involved and stability per part.
Too many parts involved here, even a 99.9 % stability per part doesn't help any more.
OK, hopefully things are better in october, or they have better implementation docs then, including 20 pages how to play around with ORADIM depending on actual situation.
    Have a nice weekend.
