Running JRE 1.6.0 update 5 on a client computer with xMII 12.0
Upgrades to Java-based applications elsewhere in my company are forcing us to consider running xMII 12 (which we're in the process of upgrading to) with Java 1.6.0 update 5 on the client computers. Are you aware of any technical or support issues running v12.0 on this Java version?
You have probably already determined any issues with using the newer JRE. The only thing that I have run into is within the Workbench. When deleting a sequence in the middle of a transaction, the second popup message "delete the sequence children?" defaults to Yes instead of No like it was when using 1.4.2. Other than that, I never noticed any difference when using the later JRE.

Are you sure both phones have diffrent Appple IDs when you are logging in to iMessage and FaceTime.

Apple Update tool floods my computer with malware
Hello,
for several days the Apple Update tool keeps popping up on my desktop and wants to install several malware programs. I installed Quicktime about two years ago and when it installed I was asked to install the Update tool as well. However for some days it seems to act crazy.
It shows things like ITunes, Safari and IPhone Configuration Tools. What is that crap? I don't want it, never installed it but the Apple Update tool preselects it everytime it pops up and it happens almost daily. However there wasn't any Quicktime Update for months. Are those things it list up Apple products? If so: Why does Apple want to install programs on my computer where I need to pay money for using it without even asking me whether I want them or not? If it's an Apple product: How can I disable this behaviour?
If it's not Apple: Do Apple computers have that same malware behaviour running? I thought Apple software is safe and does not get viruses. At least that Apple Update tool seems to be infected here by a Virus then, otherwise I just don't understand why it keeps on popping up with that stuff. What antivirus tool can I use to get the basic functionality back? It just should update Quicktime.
My antivirus tools I use (Microsoft Security Essentials) did not show up anything.
Please help me.

If you have Apple's QuickTime media player and/or iTunes installed on your Windows machine, you might want to keep an eye on apple's Software Update tool. Apple is once again using the update tool to push unwanted software onto users' machines without asking for permission.

the only other solution we can offer you is a simple one: uninstall the Apple Software Update program. The updater is not necessary to keep installed for any Apple software to work correctly on Windows.

I uninstall what I don't use, and the "don't check for updates" seems to works for me, and when I choose to update, it is stand-alone update. Also, take a look with msconfig and disable anything left running that the uninstall programs left.
However, I wouldn't call it nagware, not malware! -
Installing/Updating XIR2 on a computer with BO XI 3.1 already installed
Client is trying to install & upgrade Crystal Reports XI R2 up to SP6. His original installation files are for XI R1, so he installs and then runs the full SP2 service pack to move to XI R2. He then attempts to apply the XIR2 SP6 service pack but is told he already has a newer version of Business Objects installed. The client says he has BO XI 3.1 installed. However, I am not on site and cannot verify specifically what Business Objects product he may have installed. I also had him try the SP4 full build but that got the same error. Any suggestions?

To be clear, make sure you are using CR XI R2 Service Pack 4 full build and then apply CR XI R2 SP 6. It looks like you may be mixing patches.

If you already have iTunes on your computer, then open it up.
Go to the menubar at the top of the screen, and select "Advanced"
In there, you will see the option "Check for Updates". Select that. -

Well I don't see why they are requiring click to play with the jre 6 but they are. Thing is there are a lot of ways to
call IE such as via MS Office as discussed here:

So next month will be the last month that jre 6 users will get free updates and then we have to get jre updates
from oracle support, right? Unfortunately the jre 7 is just not maturing properly. We need the jre 6 to continue!Note that oracle has released the jre 7u11 to patch the version 7 problems:

BTW I don't think the vendor took very long to fix this particular bug, it's just that there is a succession of them that has unfortunately greatly weakened the credibility of the 7 lineage. If only we could get some control over some aspects of this! Running forms as applets in browsers has too many points of failure. The browser can at any time suddenly decide to block or partly block launching applets, like mozilla click blocking 6u38 just because maybe the version 7 bug was more widespread as they said here:

Most browsers now autoupdate on their own so there is no telling what they may decide to do at any time. Mozilla has consistently for months refused to recognize the jre 6 lineage as valid and tries to get the users to upgrade to 7 which doesn't work with our forms due to the vendor having changed the vendor name in the jre.
As you can see here Mozilla will not recognize 6u38 as a valid version of java and it has not even hit the end of life yet:

After february 2013 I fear firefox will totally block the jre 6 even if we keep getting up updated via oracle support. I don't know any browser that will accept more than one jre plugin at a time so it's not possible to run jre 6 requiring applets and jre 7 requiring applets. One would wish the vendor was working with the browser providers and solving some of these problems!

My MacBook Pro that is running on Mac OS X 10.6.8 won't update software that I need in order to download the newest iTunes software to connect to my iPhone 6. Problem is that when I go to update, it restarts the computer but never updates any of the software.

When you buy an upgrade disk, all updates in that OS can be found on Software Update.
For instance, I bought Snow Leopard at 10.6.
All other updates have been free and downloadable. So I'm not a 10.6.7.
10.4 (Tiger) went to 10.4.11.
10.5 (Leopard) went to 1.5.8
10.6(Snow Leopard) is currently at 10.6.7.
Now, when Lion come out (the next major upgrade of OSX), I will have to pay to go to 10.7.
After that, updates are free til 10.8 comes out. -
Running without Adobe Flash Player Updater Scheduled Task
I'm trying to understand how to avoid installing Adobe Flash Player Updater Scheduled Task.
I am also unable to remove the Scheduled Task using a script that works on other tasks, on the same workstations.
Is there an mms.cfg setting that will instruct the installer to skip the Task?
1) Uninstall the Scheduled Task from all workstations in my environment.
2) Install future updates without the Scheduled Task.
I have already tried mm.cfg with these lines:
AutoUpdateDisable=1
SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0
It still runs the update process every hour.
I have explained that it hasn't been causing a problem, but running this many processes on so many computers for no reason is causing some concern.
My organization also does not allow big bang automation included with this product.
Has anyone managed to shut off the Updater process from running?

Edit the CustomAction “NewCustomAction1” added the parameter “-au 2” to the Command line argument.
you should do that for both:
install_flash_player_11_active_x.msi
and
install_flash_player_11_plugin.msi
If you are using both of them..
Or you can delete the scheduled task with schtask /delete "taskname"

Try updating your QuickTime Player to the most recent version. Does that clear up the launch errors? -

Running Mac 10.5.8 Updated to FF 8.0 - keeps crashing whenever FF opens - can not launch safe mode either - looks like many people here are having same issue - solutions all keep saying it has something to do with roboform 7.6.2 (which is for windows) or the profile. I have a new macbook pro running lion and want to update to ios 5 on my ipod touch. My old macbook only has 10.4.11 and can't be updated to lion - and won't update my ipod touch to ios 5. But the message on my new macbook pro says I have to update on the computer I normally use for syncing or my music will be lost. Is there any solution for this?
try exporting your iTunes libary from the old computer to the new one

Hi mnomi! Sorry to learn of the trouble you're running into with your new phone! Have you already switched the device via your My Verizon : http://vz.to/16lkVUY Once you have done this, and verify the sim card is inserted securely, the activation will begin. If the phone is stuck on the wheel and you cannot move forward, you may want to do an alternative reset. Please follow the below instructions:
1) Ensure the device is powered off.
2) Press and hold the Volume Down button (located on the right edge) until instructed to release in step 4.
3) Press and hold the Power button (located on the top-right edge) until the device vibrates (approximately 2 seconds) then release.
4) When the restore screen appears (exclamation mark), release the Volume Down button.
5) From the restore screen, press then release the following keys to initiate the reset process:
1. Volume Up button
2. Volume Down button
3. Power button
4. Volume Down button
*Allow several minutes for the process to complete (rotating gears appear on the display to indicate that the reset is in progress).

I was trying to run ITunes 10.7 update on my Mac Pro with Retina dispaly but "An error has occurred" and I was not able to proceed with the update. The message says "The operation was cancelled. (3072)." I have no other messages. Any ideas why I cannot install this update
Scott's solution fixed the problem. It would have been helpful if the update message in the App Store had reported that. I had first tried B Noir's solution -- and received a helpful warning message that a guest user was still logged in to iTunes. I switched over, logged the guest user out, switched back and the update within the App store worked perfectly.
It seems to me that Apple should invest a little time and effort in making their error/warning messages easier to decipher. I have to come to the forum every time something happens. Why not simply have a dialogue window that opens up to explain the most likely issues?
