Running LabVIEW Express Student Edition.

Purchased LabVIEW Express Student Edition, installed the software that
comes with the book. Application does not run, error message is
"attribute on localhost have been configured improperly". How do I
resolve this problem, any solutions

Hello,
I have not seen this error before, can you attach a screenshot and/or perhaps an error number that accompanied the problem?  In the mean time, here are a couple documents providing solutions to problems others have had with the student edition:

  • LabVIEW 2011 Student Edition on Mac Installation

    Hi
I installed LabVIEW 2011 Student edition on my Mac with the OS Mac OSX Version 10.7.1 Lion edition.
At first it wouldn't install (I had installation failure because Lion OSX is 64 bit and not 32)
I used the intructions as demonstrated in the link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3773
as I found in the forum thread of:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Installing-LabVIEW-2011-for-Mac-OS-X-10-7-Lion-fails/m-p/1653742?req...
After I changed to 32 bit, the apple terminal warned me by doing so I wouldn't be able to save stuff correctly.
The software installed after I used the directions for 32 bit mode, but for some reason it did not say I was in 32 bit mode on the Apple activity monitor, it said 64 bit.
I went to the terminal and used the instructions to turn the operating system into 64 bit (even though it already say it was in 64 bit, despite LabVIEW installing, which requires 32 bit). I rebooted the computer, and I was able to use LabVIEW 2011.
    My question:
Once LabVIEW 2011 Mac student edition is installed in 32 bit mode, can it be operated when the computer is in 64 bit mode?
    thanks

    Hi JoeGanser,
Booting your Mac into OSX 64 bit should still enable LabVIEW to run, even though it is a 32 bit program. You will encounter problems however when using NI-DAQmx Base, NI-VISA or NI-488.2 drivers while running in 64 bit mode.
I have found a KnowledgeBase Article, which explains why this is the case.
Please let me know if that answers your question, please post back if you have further questions.

  • Labview 2010 Student Edition, will it work with the Labview FPGA module and Xilinx Spartan 3E??

    Just as the title states.
I did a search here on compatibility, but I am coming up short with not much to show for it.
I have Labview 2010 student edition, 32bit and 64 bit. I am trying to do a Senior Design project for my undergrad, and I am having some issues.
I was able to download the Support for the Xilinx Spartan 3E and Labview FPGA.
I install it, it runs through the unzipping process, installs, and then mysteriously I cannot find it. I have looked through my programs list and it is not listed. I open both editions of LabView and I find ABSOLUTELY NOTHING indicating that either one has ANYTHING to do with FPGA.
Did I install it wrong? Or is it just not supported in the studend version of Labview???
    Can someone help me, please?

What about the trial version? Any chance of it being on there?
I think everything is available for download, and without activation it will be in trial mode and you have about a month (?) before the trial expires.
A trial version of the FPGA module is available for download here. I have no idea if it would work with the student version.
I would recommend to talk to your local NI sales representative for advice. Good luck.

  • How to download LabVIEW 11 Student Edition for OS X

I received my activation number for LabVIEW 11 Student Edition by email for participating in an online lecture and solving a problem.
In the email there was no link to download the software.
Where can I find a download link for LabVIEW 11 Student Edition for OS X?

    Hi,
I will try to go through it with you and I believe we will find a solution.
The 2011 version of LabVIEW for OS X is no longer available from this link, a new version was released in the meantime. First I'd like to try to get a new version to you. Can you please check whether you can't get the serial number for the new version as well? Usually these student versions are available for free.
In the worst case I will upload you the old installer on the FTP.

  • Labview 2009 Student Edition Vista x64 installation fail, no error messages though

I am trying to install a copy of the LabView 2009 student edition and everytime the installation initializes, the modules fail to install for every single module.  There is also no error message.
I got a message that LabView may not be working correctly due to Windows Firewall, which I have disabled. That message referred me to ni.com/info, code expm69.
Let me know, I'm a little confused as to what's going on.  Would it be due to a patch or what not?
    Thanks!

    Hi imagineerme,
Regarding your installation issues, a possible cause may be that you don't have permissions on the computer that you are installing. Are you set as the administrator on this computer? Is this a school computer or your own?
It's also possible that LabVIEW may be installed on your computer already. To check this, go to Program Files/National Instruments to see what you already have installed.
If neither of these are the cause, can you please provide me with more information about your installation? Does the installer crash or just go straight to the finish screen? Does anything install at all? Thanks and best of luck,

  • Who is eligible to use the Labview 8 student edition?

Who is eligible to use the Labview 8 student edition? Can an individual who is not in school or affiliated with a learning institution purchase and register it for the purpose of learning at home?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I still am not sure of the answer to my question about the Student Edition . Maybe it hinges on what the word staff means in this case?
I would interpret "staff" in the most general case. If you are employed by an educational institution, and not student or faculty, your'e probably "staff".
The main restriction on the student edition is in its use. You can only use it for personal educational use and not for research. For research in a lab, you need to get the real LabVIEW. See e.g. point #4 in the FAQ: http://www.ni.com/labviewse/labviewse_faq.htm ).
Still, the educational discounts are great (75% on single copy software: http://www.ni.com/academic/edu_dsct.htm ).

  • I cannot see the NI-DAQmx icon in measurement window in Labview 2013 (student Edition)

    Hi All:
I have installed NI-DAQmx and Labview 2013 (Student Edition). I have connected an NI USB-6008 DAQ and tested it using NI-DAQmx and it is working properly.
Now I tried to do logging of data from this device using the installed Labview software but as I  open a new project and go to Block Diagram screen and display the measurement menu I cannot see the NI-DAQmx icon in the measurement window (Menu) within Labview 2013 (student Edition).
    Any suggestion?
I am attaching two screen shots.
    Please help.

In which order did you install the software packages?
You should install LabVIEW first, followed by DeviceDrivers!

    Hi Joe,
Have you ever successfully opened LabVIEW 2011 on your Mac?
Also, can you tell me what processor does your Mac has? I want to make sure that there is not a compatibility issue here. Please reference to LabVIEW Version Compatibility with Mac OS PPC and x86 Processors for the compatibility list between LabVIEW and Mac.

  • Labview linux student edition?

    Hi,
Is there a Labview DEMO version for linux? Or maybe a student edition.
I need it for school and have to make a presentation about it and thats all.
I hope there is a trail version for linux.
    Greets Jellee.

    Hi Jellee,
No there is no evaluation or student edition for LabVIEW for Linux, please contact you local NI Office and inquire for the possibilities.
    Thanks

  • Will the ELVIS board work with LabVIEW 2010 Student Edition?

I recently acquired a traditional ELVIS board (with the PCI DAQ board). So far I've only installed the evaluation for LabVIEW 2010 (x64), and when I attempt to install the ELVIS Traditional 3.0.5 software I get the following message: "This installer requires LabVIEW 8.5 Full Development system or later to be present on this computer. LabVIEW Base Development System in any version of LabVIEW is not supported. Please install LabVIEW and then run the NI ELVIS installer again."
I am eligible to purchase a student license for LabVIEW 2010 and would like to know if the ELVIS Traditional 3.0.5 software will install after I've acquired a student license.
I am running windows 7 (x64) with an evaluation version of LabVIEW 2010 (x64).

Perhaps I spoke too soon. I purchased a student license for LabVIEW 2010 and am still receiving the same error. I've provided screenshots of my license and the message from the ELVIS Traditional 3.0.5 installer.

  • How close can I come to Realtime with Labview student edition and an Arduino project?

    Hey everyone,
I'm really new to Labview and just recieved the Labview 2012 student edition and I plan to do a project. It came to my concern that after asking the Labview interface for arduino forums, they suggested that it cannot provide realtime. My project in generalwill consist of two arduinos, one with many sensors close to 30 and the second will have many actuators. My question is whether I can come to develop a realtime crucial system or fast processing speeds. Please provide any input.Your time and responses are much appreciated.

    MustafaMX5 wrote:
Thanks for replying, but if I may ask, are you implying that when the arduino is programmed it will run in realtime, however when labview interfaces with it isn't. Then if so would you suggest I just program the arduino and then monitor the system using Labview as my GUI.Lastly say I had the two arduinos already programmed with sensors and actuators and they communicate independently without labview, would labview impede on this time critical system.
     Thanks A Lot
Anything on a Windows machine is not real-time.  The micro on the arduino is.  You can still program in communications between the micro and LabVIEW and not impede on the real-time operation.  It will take some cycles away, but probably not enough to worry.

  • Express 7 Student Edition Question

    Hello:
I'm playing around and learning LabView. I bought a copy of LabView 6i
Student Edition and found that it didn't support the advanced data
acquisition instruments (I wanted to used the continuous data
acquisition example and it wouldn't work). Does anyone out there know
if the new Labview 7 Express Student Edition supports all of the
features or if it's somewhat crippled like 6i? Any info would be
greatly appreciated, as I'd like to avoid spending another $70 if it
    doesn't.
    Thanks!
    Dan

I believe the Student Edition of 7 is fully functional. It adds a tag in the lower left corner of the windows identifing it as the student edition.
To be sure, you should call NI support and verify.

  • New VI function token in Labview Student Edition

    All experts out there,
This VI mod_qam transmitter.vi token is not available in Student edition. How can i be able to create/find one? I am not able to search one in the Function Seach option.
My objective is to create a M-ary QAM communication system and i am currently using the following vi:
    1) MT Create System Parameters
    2) MT Modulate QAM
    and others.
From the look of the VI token, it seem that the token is not from the library.
    Please kindly advice.
