Running latest Adobe CS (ie Photoshop 13.1.2) on my MacBook Pro Retina, yet the interface is choppy and pixelated.
I have MacBook Pro w/ retina display, and have updated my Adobe CS to the latest (including Photoshop and Illustrator), and I am still unable to get any CS products to load up HiDPI interfaces. The odd thing is that on a whim, I created a new user account on my new MBPr, logged in using the new profile, started up Photoshop and the HiDPI interface IS loaded up.
As the system profile/account that I use, is one that I migrated from my old MacBook, I'm wondering if there might be some setting or account preference from that migration that is causing Adobe to not recognize my mac as having a Retina display – which might explain why I do see the HiDPI interface in Photoshop when I use the test account that I created from new on this MacBook, but not when logged into my main account which was migrated from a non-retina MacBook. I'd hate to have to create a new profile, then manually transfer everything just to get Adobe Retina support working properly. Does anyone have any ideas about how I might correct this?
I have already 'uninstalled' then 'reinstalled' CS twice, and I've run Adobe's cleanup tool after uninstalling as well, but still no luck. I have a feeling that it is probably a simple preferences file or some profile data that needs to be edited, or purged. Also, I have run a few of the leading system utilities to rebuild permissions, clear cache data, etc... But still no luck.
I have contacted Adobe multiple times, and their support has been less than worthless. I have yet to talk to a single Adobe support team member who even knows what I'm talking about when I mentione the 'Retina display'. I've given up there.
Thank you in advance for your help. Working in Photoshop and Illustrator on a Retina display, without a HiDPI interface *****..! :-)
Moving your files shouldn't be that hard. If you are like most Mac Users all your files are in your User folder under Document, Music, Pictures and whatever. Just copy the folders and files from those main folders to the same main folders of the other User account.
Even easier if like me I store all my files in folders of my own choosing mainly in the ROOT of the drive. Thjen all you have to do is change the permissions on them.

As title says, when I open Photoshop CS6 and simple make a new layer and either use the type tool, it appears to be a little Sluggish/Jerky when moving the layer around.. The same applies when resizing photoshop itself.
I'm updated to the latest version of CS6 and have tried all the combinations in the 'Performance' section of Photoshop.
My Macbook Pro Retina is the 3.4ghz 650m and 8GB RAM offering (OS Mavericks). It's really annoying me as even my old laptop could run it smoothly and that was an i5 and much lower-end graphics card.
The only way I can really describe it (and i'm no tech professional) is when comparing it to silky smooth 60 fps, it looks like it's skipping frames and in term looking 'jerky'. I also use Illustrator and don't really witness the same problem with it.
I know this may have been asked quite a bit.. But I've never found the solution.. Could anybody advise me on what it potentially could be down too? (Might I add the laptop has just had a fresh install of the OS and a fresh copy of CS6)You could check through the GPU FAQ for anything you might have missed
http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq.html
You say you have tried all settings in Performance, but I wonder what your cache levels are set at? If more than 1, then OK.
There's the general performance FAQ (no doubt lots of overlap)
http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/optimize-performance-photoshop-cs4-cs5.html
Is this with all image docs, or particular ones? For instance I have been playing with using ACR to process 32bit HDR files, and it puts a huge load on the system. -
Photoshop CS6 performance on new Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013
Hi guys,
Just bought the new 13" Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013 with 8GB RAM and 256SSD.
Installed CS6 with all patches and retina update but performance is appaling. Im editing a Nikon D800 file which I know is heavy, but when zoomed in at 100% and using the healing brush it is unusable. There is so much lag on the brush it takes a second after i lift my pen for the stroke to be finishes.
Happening in Scaled & Best for Retina screen modes.
My 2005 Core 2 Duo laptop with 4GB of ram and windows 7 did this without hiccups, so I cant believe this brand new laptop cant do it.
Any ideas? Its really unusable now.
CheersHere is the email I got from Wacom.
This is the person that contacted me after I sent them an email
Dick,
If you downloaded and installed the latest Mac OS X driver, it will not work with your Intuos2 tablet. If you OS X is 10.6+, here are driver directions to follow for a clean install and a link to the last driver:
Open your Applications folder and locate any Tablet or Wacom Tablet folders you have
Use the Utility in each of these folders and click ‘Remove’ under ‘Tablet Software’
Once the software is removed, restart the computer
After restarting, download and install the latest 6.20 driver from:http://cdn.wacom.com/U/drivers/mac/pro/WacomTablet_6.2.0w4.dmg
As always, make sure your tablet is connected directly to your computer.
Avoid using USB hubs, keyboard/monitor ports, or docking stations with the tablets, as they can cause inconsistent behavior.

Macbook pro Retina Photoshop ONLY graphic artifacts
I have a macbook pro Retina Mid 2012 for work. And every time I use photoshop, and move the cursor around I see very annoying graphical artifacts on the left and top of the screen. This looks like a driver issue one might expect on a PC. I can't take a screen shot of it, since it goes away when I try to do that.. of course. but attached below is a mockup of what it basically looks like. (I cannot upgrade to maverick due to not workig with software we need at the office)
This ONLY happens in Photoshop. and has been happeneing ever since the laptop was first purchased. Has anyone else seen something like this? Is there a driver update to fix it? etc...There are so many apps that use the NVIDIA GPU... download gfxCardStatus and install it so that you can get a handle on apps that use the GPU processor (Chrome, any Creative Suite app, etc.).
If the problem only occurs when using the discrete GPU in PS then it's either a hardware fault or a PS fault - you'll know if other apps that use the NVIDIA chip display the same anomalies.

I have a PC running Windows XP (yes an antique) with CS3 Photoshop and InDesign and lightroom 2 (yes all antiques). I have acquired a PC running Windows 7 with no programs. I also have a MacBook pro with full CS5 suite. The programs were already loaded with I got it as a gift. Question 1. If I find serial numbers used to download programs to the old PC, can those CS3 programs be put on the newer PC. Question 2. I really want to put CS5 suite on PC machines. Is that possible? Especially since my MacBook is showing some hard drive problems.
You should be able to get the CS3 programs installed and running on the new pc since CS3 is spec-ed for Windows 7 Service Pack 1. Downloading the programs does not require a serial number. You can find them here: Download CS3 products but you will need the serial number to activate the programs. You might be able to find that thru your Adobe account online.
You will not be able to install the CS5 Mac version on a PC and you won't be able to trade it to a PC version either due to it being an older version. Trades are allowed only for the latest version (CS6) -
Is it ok to instal older versions of Microsoft Office 2008, Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0, Adobe CS3 on a new MacBook Pro Retina running Mountain Lion?

I have Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom on my MacBook Pro laptop. I bought an iMac and I'd like to move my installations to the larger display desktop for editing purposes. How can I go about transferring them?
I have the same question. It seems that Adobe is almost impossible to contact (I ended up here at the forums to ask the same question).
I will never buy another Adobe product again if I can get another program to replace it. If this is customer service then it is NON EXISTENT!
I notice that your question has not been answered and why should you have to get the information from a forum? I know of no other company that makes you do this for simple product information.
NOT HAPPY with this version of arrogant customer service (nor am I happy about renting Photoshop products into the future - it is just a money grab in my opinion). I will be voting with my feet and going elsewhere in future. -
I upgraded my MacBook Pro to OSX 10.9.4 Mavericks and now will close Photoshop and other Adobe CS6 in a few minutes. There is that other users have the same problems? How to solve them?

Photoshop cs6 lags on macbook pro retina 15'
Recently I got my hands on photoshop cs6 but my brush lags quite a bit while using it. This happens when I'm zooming in to do minor details or if I'm using a brush more than 200
I've heard good things about design production on macbooks but so far I've seen the opposite. Is there anyway to solve the brush lag problem from Apple's end?I am using a student version which is running atm on a windows 7 64 bit macbook pro retina 15. The best thing i can try doing is downgrade to CS5. Though i'm positively sure if I installed photoshop less than a few weeks ago, it would be at the latest...

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display?
How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.

Just got a new MacBook Pro Retina and Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard. OS x 10.8.3 and Photoshop 13.0.4 runs extremely slow. Why?

Adobe PC CC started flickering on Macbook Pro Retina
Hi,
I started noticing flickering on my Macbook Pro Retina on PhotoShop CC. The screen inside the PS work window flickers. I heared there were some reports earlier and were fixed. It seems latest Adobe PS update has caused the issue again. My Macbook os fully updated as well as my PS/CC is also fullyb updated. It's becoming impossible to work on any project.
Thanks
SWAPnilI am having this same issue. A brand new Macbook Pro retina - literally out of the box today with a completely fresh install of Adobe CC. It's only the window inside photoshop that exhibits the flickering activity, and tends to only be when I'm working with my tablet, as far as I can tell.
-
So I posted this in the apple forums... No response and it's been a couple days...
Anyon have any idea how to fix this?
I'm using the latest OSX, with the latest CC versions. I'm using a late model Macbook pro.
When I'm in photoshop and i use the alt/option key while using the pen tool, and I start to select and modify an anchorpoint, the artboard or file window starts to move.
Same for when I use the zoom tool.
Both tools switch to the appropriate modifier, pen to Anchor modifier, and zoom to zoom out ( - ).
When I click or drag, they don't work. I think it's something to do with the ley bindings, but when I use my mac mini, i.e a desktop with full keyboard, I don't have this problem. It's seriously killing my productivity having to switch back and forth between the Pen tool and anchor modification tool. And lord knows the weird ways I have to deal with the zooming.
I'm using the track pad, a mouse, and a wacom. This issue is exhibited across all input devices. Here is information on my upgrade from my previous work machine… which is a pc to the mac… as I also had/have a late 2008 macbook, which was actually good bait lol, was impressed by how it ran for an 2008 model of a computer..

Adobe Illustrator CC on MacBook Pro Retina 15"
Hi everyone,
I have brand new MacBook Pro Retina 15" version with 8GB ram, i7 cpu, SSD disk
and I have little problem in Adobe Ai CC:
When I move many big objects in Ai everything align and move smooth.
But when i scroll, zoom, move the view it's very slow and I see that framerate is very slow.
It's not scrolling smoothly.
Can anybody help me fix that issue? I have all up-to-date and system is brand new with
only Adobe CC some programs installed.
Regards,
Kordian SzustHaving some lag issues on a new imac at work in illustrator CC. According to a similar photoshop thread, the issue seems to be with the new Intel Iris Pro graphics....

I'm receiving SBBOD randomly on my Macbook Pro Retina running Yosemite
For the last several weeks I've occasionally received a SBBBOD when performing various tasks on my system. Not sure what in particular might be causing it but I feel like more often than not it is when I'm using Safari. It always results in a spinning ball and the only thing I can do is move windows around but can not click anything. It requires me to force power off the system.
Most importantly, sometimes when rebooting I'll experience a flashing folder icon as if the system can not find the bootable drive. If I power off the system again, it will usually load the OS. This pointed to potential HDD corruption and so I ran the necessary checks there and never got any HDD error reported. Also have run memtests and overall Apple Hardware Tests...all with no errors reported.
I recently updated Java Plugin and also ran an EtreCheck as recommended in other similarly reported problems. Here is the results of that report...

Thank you in advance for any support you can offer here.1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
[Process started]
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
The test results are on the Clipboard.
Please close this window.
[Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but whatever else you're told to do may not be. For others who choose to run it, I don't recommend that you post the test results on this website unless I asked you to.
