Running Logic Studio 9 on Lion.

Heya guys.
Im running Lion 10.7.2 on my MBP and I've just tried installing Logic Studio 9 straight out of the box. It installed fine and just as I thought I was clear of any problems, I went into finder to open it and an error comes up reading:
'You can't use this version of the application Logic Pro with this version of Mac OS X. You have Logic Pro 9.1.1.'
Does anyone know what the exact problem is and how it can be fixed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Dan

Hi
You need to download the latest Logic Pro updater... either using Software Update, or downloading manually from the Apple Downloads area.
Note that the updater will require that the existing Logic application is in the root level of the Applications folder, and that it is named "Logic Pro" (with no numbers/spaces).

  • Logic studio 8 Lion Install

    Hi everyone
I have just bought my first imac and bought Logic studio 8. The problem is it will not install as PowerPC is no longer supported.
I am a complete novice to the world of Mac. Is it possible to install this software??
    Thank you in advance.

Hope this can help...i just did it I can now Run Logic Studio 8

  • I have recently purchased an i5 27 inch Imac with 8gb ram, will this be enough to run logic studio and record vocals?

I have recently stretched my budget as far as I can and have purchased my first Imac! I am really excited about getting it , its an i5 2.7ghz and i went for the 8gb ram upgrade. My question is will this be enough to run logic studio to produce music and record vocals?
If you have a similar setup please le me know how it runs for you. I would also like to hear about the average number of plugins you can run and any other tip to get the most out of your processor.
Logic Studio will be the only big program running on it, I plan to get a blue icicle converter and a blue condenser microphone for vocal recording so I hope the Imac is up to the task!
Hope to hear from somebody real soon.

You should have no problem at all. That iMac is more than capable of running Logic.

  • Logic Studio and Lion

Well I just bit the bullet and bought Lion, just finished installing it and it all seems to work fine.
First thing I noticed, is my iMac i7 now boots by default into a 64bit Kernel. Logic Studio works perfectly fine, as does my RME Babyface.
So all big sighs of relief from me.
The whole OS seems much quicker also, only played with it a little bit It seems a lot better.
I'm sure some third part plugins might have issues, but seeing as I dont have any, thats not a problem for me.

    Hi
Which version of Logic Studio (v1=Logic 8, v2= Logic 9)?
The installer for v1 does not run on Lion.

  • Running Logic Studio on Mac pro G5 AND MacBook Pro with dongle

Hi..I have been running the latest version of Logic on my Mac G5 for many years now but  also want to run it on my MacBook Pro. I have installed Logic studio from the original disks but the program will not load with or without my emagic dongle. I thought the whole point of the dongle is that you can take your work to different studios as the sole user of the program. What is wrong here?
    Thanks in advance.

I've just noted that Waveburner will work!

  • How to run Pro Tools 7.4 LE and Logic Studio 8.0.2, simultaneously..

My setup: single Quad Core 2.8GHz 8GB of RAM, running Logic Studio 8.0.2 (projectmix)
Single 1.8 GHz G5 running Pro Tools LE 7.4 (digi 002 rack)
I want to set up Logic (as master) as my main sequencer, to run Pro Tools for audio.
    What's the best setup?
    1. Midi the two interfaces together, sync by MTC, or Midi Clock….if so, what are the settings, as I had an unsuccesful run at it using MTC...
    or
    2. Run both programs on my Quad Core - is there a way to have Logic run Pro Tools on the same machine - with two different interfaces on separate firewire ports?
    Any info would be appreciative.
    Thanks

    I did the following:
Set up the audio output for the Logic to be the internal sound card, and hook up this via Digital lightpipe to the Digi002 rack lightpipe inputs, set them to SPDIF in the hardware setup page. You'll need a special adaptor to go out of the headphone outs of your mac to turnit into digital signal. Check your Mac's manual for that.
Then set up an IAC buss for the midi, inside the AudioMidiSetup software, and tell ProTools to send MTC to this IAC buss, while telling Logic to receive MTC via the same IAC buss. Make SURE you ahve the same exact SMPTE and MTC flavor on both amchnes, and also the right sample rate (match it on both)
Then, set an Aux input in ProTools Le to accept the incoming SPDIF stereo signal from Logic, press play, and they both now synch perfectly.

  • Installing Logic Studio 9 upgrade issue

I am installing the Logic Studio 9 upgrade from a copy of Logic Pro 7 which itself is an upgrade from Logic Express 7. I can run it usung the XSKey but when I try to run it without, it asks for a valid serial number (from Logic Pro 7) to verify the upgrade. The problem is I have a serial number for Logic Express but Logic Pro only has an XSKey serial number which isn't a valid number. Whilst I can use it with the XSKey, I would ideally like to use it without as it takes up a much needed usb slot and I hate having to carry it around when I'm out and about with my Macbook Pro as it's small enough to go missing and sticks out of the laptop rather precariously. Can anyone help with a solution?

Just to update, I have to use XSKey every time I run Logic Studio otherwise I am prompted for my Studio serial number and a Logic serial number.

  • Is macbook or macbook pro the best for logic studio

I was wondering if i just bought a macbook and maxxed it out would pro logic 8 run good on it or should i just invest in a macbook pro? I guess my question is what is the difference in the 2 as pertaining to running pro logic studio? I would also be installing battey and the komplete synth line from native instruments as well..just to verify my usage.....thanx

Lots of people are running Logic Studio on MBs with no trouble. I'd definitely max out your RAM if you're using Komplete. And you probably want the biggest hard drive you can get, so that Logic doesn't take up all the space on it--some of the content can be installed on an external, but a lot of it has to be on your system drive.

  • Logic Studio on a MacBook

Hi I'm looking to purchase a MacBook to run Logic Studio. Is this a good idea from the performance point of view? If so, what is the minimum model I should be looking at? - John.

I am a Macbook user and I am running Logic Studio 9. (legit purchased copy, not pirated) I am using a presonus firestudio (firewire interface) and an external 1tb 7200 rpm firewire hardrive.
Logic studio does run on my computer. Let me say that I have just completely reformatted my hard drive with snow leopard and it is completely clean. I am still on my first mac which I bought Oct 2008. I used garageband for several months before stepping into logic. I LOVE Logic studio it is awesome.
NOTE - you should probably ask your friend why it is he wants logic studio. Garageband does a lot, and it will take you awhile to progress outside of its limits to need a program like logic studio. (garageband is also stock on macs)
While I love all my studio's capabilities, and I have a blast, I run into several performance issues. When I have a template set up with several plugins, I run into problems with latency all over. I have a presonus fader controller with a footswitch for punch-in recording, and I experience latency with it. At times my digital software mixer quits unexpectedly. I suspect that if I had a computer with a bigger processor, I wouldn't see these problems. Although, looking at even the 17" macbook pro specs, it still doesn't seem that much more powerful. My suggestion is that if you want your software to run as efficiently as possible, get the best macbook you can afford, but don't fret about it too much because all of the new ones will support it. As said here before, make sure it is equipt with firewire. I am leaning towards purchasing an iMac for at home where I do most of my stuff, and keeping my Macbook to take around and using live.

  • Best computer for logic studio

hi I am running logic express on my G4 & soon i want to upgrade my computer to one which will run logic studio comfortably for the next few years, what i want to know is would the processing power an 8 core G5 be overkill, would logic studio use this processing power or would a quad core be sufficient or even a powerbook. I dont want to overspend but then I want to run the program as smoothly & quickly as possible. thanks

Logic supports multi processing quite well. So you can take advantage of all of the cores that your machine supplies. There are some minor restrictions, but in general it scales quite well. Anyhow, I believe from what you write and that you can actually work on a G4 currently that you'll be more than happy with any recent iMac or Mac notebook. Don't spend your money on something that you don't need. Mac Pros are very fine machines, but they're also quite expensive and way too powerful for the average user.
    Cheers,

  • Advice needed on whether to reinstall Snow Leopard with Logic Studio 8

Prior to purchasing Snow Leopard upgrade, my Imac 3.06GHz 4GB RAM was running Logic studio 8 really nicely. Plugins include Realguitar 2, Abbey Rd drums, KorePlayer and I use the Tascam FireOne controller for audio. After installing Snow Leopard I noticed logic was overloading much easier than previously. This appeared to be that only one core of the CPU was showing activity and once that maxed out the system stopped. I decided after much frustration to wipe the iMac and revert to the original OS. However I dont think the situation has improved much - although I dont get logic hanging when I quit the application, I notice it still tends to run out of steam long before it did before. Now I am wondering whether to risk reinstalling the Snow Leopard upgrade as I would like to get a trackpad and a few other features I miss from SL. I am guessing from what I've read on the forum that many users are happy with Logic 8 studio on Snow Leopard and are not getting the same issues as myself. I've read the articles on load balancing cores etc, but what I dont understand is why I never had to bother with this before .. it all just worked fine!
If I do install the upgrade to SL, is there an easy way to reverse if I am not happy without having to completely reinstall everything? If I backup with time machine, will that enable me to revert back to the OS?
Sorry for such a long posting but advice would greatly be received! I also have a macbook pro which I havent tried installing snow leopard on yet, maybe I could try it out on that first?
    Many thanks
    Simon

Snow Leopard is for Logic 9 and higher. Or vice versa.
    Cheers

  • Logic Studio and MacBook Pro

I'm looking into purchasing a new MacBook Pro and wanted to make sure of something. I want to get Logic Studio for work purposes, and even though the tech specs match up, is it too much for a MacBook? I mostly need the mobility and don't want to have it tied down to a desktop system.
    Thank you.

I'm running Logic Studio on a late 208 unibody Macbook Pro without issue, so should work fine

  • Mac Pro for Logic Studio...advice?

    Hi Folks,
I am contemplating the purchase of a Mac Pro specifically for running Logic Studio, and would like to know what significance multiple processors have on its performance.
Money is tight so I am considering the single processor option, based on the fact that in the past most applications did not make much use of the second processor. However I am a recent defector from Digital Performer and have no idea what the story is with the latest version of Logic.
My needs are fairly humble, not doing anything that really requires massive amounts of tracks. However I don't want to be filled with regret later.
I am contemplating the base model with one processor and then adding an additional 8GB of ram and 2 x 1 terrabyte drives. Would run the system and apps from the 320GB drive, and partition the first 1TB drive with a recording partition and a storage partition. I would use the second 1TB drive for backups.
Would appreciate some feedback from more experienced users....
    Thanks!!!!

i opted for the 8-core because logic can use them. but i am also using sample libraries a lot, so i needed decent horsepower. however, i feel that this 8-core mac pro has the potential to last a good while. especially when ssd drives drop in price later this year and will make sample streaming and system operations a breeze.

  • Different Audio Outputs Logic Studio 8

Hello. I was wondering if apple was able to do this, because that would save a lot of plugging and unplugging of cables and such. Is it possible to select different audio outputs for different programs that you are using on the imac? I run logic studio 8 with a m-audio firewire 410 external soundcard with a couple of monitor speakers. I also have a set of z-5500 connected to my imac via the digital output cable. Is there a way where when i use logic studio 8, the firewire soundcard is used. and for all other purposes, such as watching a movie or listening to music, the digital output is used? Is there a program that can control this? if this is possible. it would help me out A LOT! THANKS

    Hello ecstasurf
    That's a great question?
Go to: "Applications / Utilities" and open "Audio MIDI Setup" from there you maybe able to switch between the FireWire and the Digital/Analog outputs. I can't give you much more help with that, I don't have an audio FireWire setup so you'll have to play around with the Audio Output Source there.
Note: If you like, you can drag a copy of the Audio MIDI Setup to your dock for quick and easy access.
