Running Mavericks OS on MacBookPro...had some hard crashes past 24 hours...now can't print in Office or Firefox. Both crash during print dialog - changing printer. Printed fine before. Ideas?
Running Mavericks OS on MacBookPro...had some hard crashes past 24 hours...forced reboots....now can't print anything from Office or Firefox. Both crash during print dialog - changing printer causes instand crash. My system printed fine before the crashes yesterday. I can print from the Stickies app and safari printed fine. I did a full Shutdown/restart and that didn't work. Ideas on how to get PPT files to print again or print from firefox??

Do you have an installed email program such as Microsoft Outlook? If your email is through an online login, such as Gmail, etc, then one will have to create an email association with a program such as Microsoft Outlook on the PC for this Scan to Email system to function.

My laptop had some work done on it and now my iTunes library is gone. My Nano 4 has all of my music on it and I want to sync what I have back into my iTune library. Anyone know how?
If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod onto your computer. And here is a guide about how to copy iPod music. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help. -
i had recently followed orders to restore my iPhone 3gs (iOS 6.1) from a question on apple support. However it was working fine before that, it's just that my phone didn't have signal. So it said to restore my iPhone and now it says that the Activation server is temporarily unavailable and when i plugged it into my mac, it said that i ddn't have a sim card installed. What can I do to fix this besides bring it to the store? it also bugs me because this answer was supposed to work but it just messed my phone up even more. This has already happened once and i had to take it to the store. What should I do to fix this? Thank you so much for all answers. i really appreciate.

Check System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced
Click: Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Then empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop > Empty Caches
Quit and relaunch Safari then try Flash on a website for sound. -
I have just updated to Final Cut Pro 10.1.4 - I have updated Projects and Events on my external hard drives (off the File menu). It's says under several projects 'missing file' - but they were all there working fine before I updated. I am working off 2 external drives - not sure if that would make a difference.
After the update each seperate connected drive should now have a seperate Library.
The older Projects and Events folders would have to be at the top level of those drives go be seen and updated.
Were all the necessary Projects and Events in the corrrct place before updating?

1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now? -
Leopard hard crash on Network Location change
When I try to change my network location from the Apple menu, occasionally (like once in approx. 20 changes) Mac OS will crash. It's a hard crash, meaning no menus, no mouse, no nothing. It just simply and fully hangs, and I have to hold the power button down to restart. These seems pretty harsh and I almost never crash.
Generally speaking (though not repeatable) it seems to happen when I come into the office, after having been on my home wireless network. shut the lid, go to work, flip it open, Mac automatically jumps on work wireless. I then go to apple menu > location > choose the LAN wired network and that's when it hangs.
On a MacBook Pro, 10.5.2. Wireless at home is 802.11g, same as work.Hi Gary;

Forgot login for Mavericks and had to use start up disc. Now can't access keychain
OK, somehow stupidly forgot my login and had no other way to access my iMac except satr up disc. Well, after successfully changing my login, I keep getting pop ups to use several keychains, yet the new password does not work. Half of my apps wont work properly now and I can't find any answers that work.

Installed Yosemite yesterday and had 4 hard crashes so far. What's going on?
I have a 27" iMac(late 2012) 16gb memory and 3.2 ghz i5 processor. I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite yesterday and my computer has crashed 4 times since then. Black screen, apple message, then restart. What's wrong with the new OS?
Johnny, i run OS X 10.10 on a 5 year old iMac. No bugs worth mentioning. We also have a MBA 2013. No bugs. The problems people encounter are mostly caused bij third-party apps or unsupported hardware. I've seen many upgrades of OS X coming by. And it's always the same story. people install the new OS X as soon as possible, not wondering if their hard- and software is up to it, in may cases not even bother to make a decent backup, just in case something goes wrong.
ANd then they find themselves in trouble after install. They conclude: the new OS wasn't ready for launch. The facts: These users weren't ready for launch.
i Suggest we focus here on helping the TS in finding the cause of his crashes. The fact you have (different) problems too is not helping rprietz in any way. -
My system slows down in very little time so I run Disk Utility and repair permissions at least daily. What is going wrong and what can I do about it?

Thanks for giving me something to look for. For reasons mysterious to me my system has not slowed down since Saturday. That reading was in the morning with Chrome, Entourage and Word running but shortly after I logged in. The system had been on overnight but not in use. The next time it slows down I will check Activity Monitor and look for Page outs vs Page ins and let you know. Thanks so much for your help. You cannot remake the "Unsorted Bookmarks", instead create a folder under Unsorted Bookmarks.
Right click on the "Unsorted Bookmarks" > New Folder

Hard Drive was replaced, but now can't get Apple Backup to restore data
My iMac had a damaged hard drive, so I replaced it and reinstalled Mac OS 10.4, along with iLife 06. My iMac is now up and running again (prior to hard drive replacement it froze and was then unable to get up and running again without repeated attempts at powering down and then up).
Here's my problem. Prior to the replacement, I'd been using Apple's Backup program to backup all my iPhoto and iTunes files to an external harddrive. The files are on the external harddrive, but when I use Backup to restore them, the opened and allegedly restored files have no data in them. (I've been using "restore to alternate location" and putting the restored data in a shared folder on the iMac. Backup runs, and says the data is in this shared folder, but when I go to import data from them, they are empty.)
Fortunately, I did a wholesale copy of my old desktop to my external hard drive in July when it became clear I'd have to replace hard drive, so I was able to get most of my photo and music files restored from that. But from July to October, I used Backup exclusively to save new pictures or music and now I can't find a way to get that data restored (short of trying to pull off the old damaged harddrive).
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.I have to admit that the lack of response is somewhat frustrating...

Hard drive replaced, backup successful, now can't sync to time machine

I had a failing hard drive (S.M.A.R.T. status) so I got the hard drive replaced on my apple care plan. I had been able to successfully back-up the entire system using a WD My passport for Mac (1TB). The tech uploaded the new Lion operating system and then plugged in my WD to reinstate the computer. All went well. However, now my computer won't continue the Time Machine backups from where it left off, rather wants to reback-up the whole system again, which it can't as there is insufficient room on the drive. Do I have to delete everything on the external drive and start again?There's no way to avoid the need to back up all your files, as Time Machine has no way of knowing they're the same as they were on the old drive. The best solution is to start a new backup on another external drive. You need more than one backup anyway, to be safe. When you're sure you'll no longer need the data on the backup drive you have now, erase it and start over.
