Running multiple commands in SCCM 2012 R2

Dear Professionals
I am really new in SCCM 2012 an i did alot of self study but there are a few things are really killing me ...
how i run Running multiple commands in a task sequence
Diskpart
Sel Disk 0
clean
Exit
And also in what step i should create this command line to solve error code 0x80070070
Thank you

i will try that .. but i have been told that command may not fix the problem i have ...
is there another way to only format c:\ and leave the other partitions as it is ??
i am booting from PXE and use the USMT TS is that correct or i must run it from software Center ??
in the text file i only copy and paste the commands as it is or i should paste it in a specific form ?? like
Diskpart
Sel Disk 0
clean
Exit
Or
Diskpart & Sel Disk 0 & clean
& Exit
from what i read online i think the main problem is that the partition can not be wiped
Thank you so much for your time and patience

  • XML errors when running specific reports in SCCM 2012, using SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services

I've posted this to the SCCM 2012 forum and only received one response so far that states that this is a known issue that has been discussed before and isn't easy to fix;  I was not given any actual solution either.  Since this involves SSRS I
thought I would try my luck here as well.
I'm having almost exactly the same problem as is referenced in this article:  http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/uk/sqlreportingservices/thread/587a3319-bc54-4d30-bb3f-bb90a0c6ec50.  When
I try to run either of these reports (Computers with specific software registered in Add Remove Programs; Count of instances of specific software registered with Add or Remove Programs) I receive the XML error shown in the attached screenshot.  I'm fairly
sure the problem is the same as the other admin was experiencing and I just need to remove the unprintable characters (of the application name) from the dbo.v_Add_Remove_Program column.
The error references 0xFFFF but I could not find what that exactly translates too, other than it appears to be at the end of the spectrum for Unicode characters.  I used the following sql query to search for the 0xFFFF entry, but no results were found:
    use CM_UV2
    Select distinct
     CHARINDEX(cast(0xFFFF as varchar(1)),DisplayName0),
     DisplayName0
    from
     dbo.v_Add_Remove_Programs
    Where
     CHARINDEX(cast(0xFFFF as varchar(1)),DisplayName0) > 0
When I used the original hex value of 0x28 I get plenty of results returned with "(" in them so the query seems sound.  One of the articles I was searching mentioned running the query manually using the Management Studio and looking for strange characters
there but I'm not sure how to do that.
Basically I just need help finding the offending character and removing it.  I also need to be able to replicate this for other strings as this looks like an error that will reoccur whenever any new software appears that has weird encoding in the title.
Thank you in advance for any help given.

    Hi Uber,
This is a known issue that error occurs when running report "Count of instances of specific software registered with Add or Remove Programs" due to non-printable characters for XML. Based on internal research, the hotfix for this issue will be
included in the System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1.
As a workaround, you can remove the nonprintable character populated into the report parameter by referring to the following KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/KB/914159
    Hope this helps.

  • Running multiple commands in command prompt

    Hi
I am having the following scenario
    open command prompt
    open xilinx command prompt
    switch to xmd console
    run a set of commands
print the final output to screen
I am having the following doubts
Can system exec.vi take multiple commands as standard input?
If yes what is the delimiter?
If no what other options I have to achieve my goal
    Thanks

Why not write a batch file and start that with System Exec?

  • Compliance evaluation cycle in not running as configured in SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi,
We want to test compliance setting feature in SCCM 2012 R2. We have enable compliance setting in client setting with every 1 hour of evaluation cycle.
We have configure compliance baseline to check registry key.
Compliance baseline is configured to evaluate every 1 hour, but observed that clients are not evaluating as configured. Tried to running Machine policy evaluation cycle at client side but still not getting result.
So please help to understand why not clients are evaluating compliance evaluation cycle every 1 hour or let me know how to force client to evaluate the compliance cycle.
Also it observed that some clients are evaluating the compliance cycle but not as configured.

As I mentioned above I have configure baseline to check registry key at client side, If it is 1 then show it as compliant.
If you configured a simple schedule of every 1 hour, that means each client will run the baseline every hour but exactly
when will be determined by each client individually so there will be no set time when they run. Can you please elaborate this?
What will be the best compliance evaluation cycle we can set to give desired result?

  • Same Windows Update installed multiple times through SCCM 2012

    Hello There,
I am using SCCM 2012 to deploy critical and important updates through Automatic Deployment Rule it works fine but i have noticed recently on the client machines i see the same KB / update is installed multiple times.
Why would this happen? Please suggest.

    Hi,
My computer also have duplicated updates installed. I uninstalled one of them that needed a restart. Then uninstall another one after restart, it hadn't asked for restart and the uninstall process was very fast. So I think the update only installed one time,
    the others are duplicated records.

  • Running Multiple Commands From File

I am trying to create a file with multiple sql stmts in the editor (just a small buffer file). I am separating the commands with / but this doesn't seem to work. How should I do this? Thanks for reply.

What is it exactly that "doesn't work"?
Individual SQL or PL/SQL commands in a file can be terminated (a more precise definition than separated) with a '/'. By default there should be no blank lines in a statement, including prior to the '/'. SQL*Plus commands (e.g. SET, DESCRIBE) do not need a '/' terminator.
You should be able to run this file in SQL*Plus using the START or '@' command.
[If you want to put blank lines in a SQL statement, use SET SQLBLANKLINES ON. If you use this interactively and can't seem to get out of the statement continuationprompts to start a new statement, then put a single '.' by itself at the start a newline.]

I have a list of users and I want to add the users to SCCM collection. Is there any way by VB script to do this?
    \m/

Probably, but why use VBScript at all? 2012 has cmdlets you can use for this purpose.

Torsten,  thank you for your response, I do appreciate it.  However, I had already seen the information from Garth and so had run the following SQL query:
    use CM_UV2
    Select distinct
     CHARINDEX(cast(0xFFFF as varchar(1)),DisplayName0),
     DisplayName0
    from
     dbo.v_Add_Remove_Programs
    Where
     CHARINDEX(cast(0xFFFF as varchar(1)),DisplayName0) > 0
When I run that query, plugging in 0xFFFF from my error, it executes successfully, but I get nothing in the way of results.  When I use Garth's 0x28 I receive the expected results of any software that has a "(" in it.  Can anyone tell me why
the 0xFFFF cannot be found or what 0xFFFF resolves to?
Are there any other methods from MS for resolving this issue other than hacking their databases??  In one of the articles I was looking at the MS MVP was quick to state that finding and deleting any offending values in order to make the reports run
correctly was definitely in no way supported.  Now, I understand that MS can't have people just going around and hacking up their reports and still expect to be supported, but at this point I REALLY must call BS!  Microsoft really
needs to come up with a permanent solution to this problem that doesn't involve hacking the database.

  • SCCM 2012 Run a vbscript

I've tried to piece together other posts on this topic but have yet to successfully do this.  Could someone please provide a step by step on how to run a vbscript with SCCM 2012 SP1?  Please be as detailed as possible, because I would like to understand
the nuances of why a certain setting is being set and why certain selections are being selected.
I've tried many different settings but haven't found the correct combination or something.  If it matters, the vbscript copies a file from a network share available to everyone and also creates a shortcut to the company intranet site.  Everything
tests out locally, but just cannot get this to work via SCCM 2012 SP1.  This is what I have to work.
Please just post a how to with as much detail as possible.  THANKS!!!

In case anyone else has this question and if Mike's settings above don't seem to work for your script.  Here's my settings on how I got mine to work.  Please do note that this is running on SCCM 2012 SP1 incase the other versions are different:
    - Create new package
    - Browse to the location of your script file in the 'Source folder' box; choose network path (UNC).  I placed my resources in the same path as other apps that have been pushed out, this way I knew that there wouldn't be permissions issues with retrieving
    the source material.
    - Standard program
    - Command line: cscript script.vbs
    - Startup folder:  left this empty
    - Run: Minimized
    - Program can run:  Only when a user is logged on.  I used this setting because the script places the shortcut only on the current users desktop.
    - Run mode:  Run with user's rights
    - Drive mode:  Runs with UNC name
    - I set the requirement to only check for 1 MB of space, I'm not sure that this is even needed.
    - When deploying, I set the purpose to 'Required', because I wanted every device in the collection to receive the shortcut
    - Assignment schedule: ASAP
    - User Experience, I kept the defaults and selected 'Software Installation'
    - Deployment options (set both the same):  Download content from distribution point and run locally
These settings should allow you to push, at least, a script that installs a shortcut to the current users desktop when they login.  Hopefully this helps someone in the future.  Thanks!

  • Running a command in a command line tool in fastest way

Before anything I want to clarify some terms :
    apk
file (android application package file) : equivalent to executable (exe) files on windows
    aapt.exe
: A command line tool which comes with android sdk in order to fetch information of an apk file (It obviously has other usages)
note : This question is not about an android feature. It's all about C# and functionality of .Net framework
    An
apk file has a name just same as any other file, but it has a internal name (which will be shown when you install apk file on android os as name of application)
    with
aapt.exe I can get internal name of an apk using following command :
    aapt
    d badging "<apk path>"
    I
have copied aapt.exe where executable file of my c# application is and I want  :
    Enter
above command for each apk in selected directory (using GetAllFiles method)
I want to get internal names of apk files and
I've tried a lot of ways and I've searched a lot. finally this is what I've got :
    Process proc = new Process();
    proc.StartInfo.FileName = "cmd.exe";
    proc.StartInfo.RedirectStandardInput = true;
    proc.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
    proc.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
    proc.StartInfo.StandardOutputEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8;
    proc.Start();
    using (StreamWriter sw = proc.StandardInput)
foreach (string path in Directories.GetAllFiles(@"E:\apk", "apk"))
    sw.WriteLine("aapt d badging " + "\"" + path + "\"");
//following line doesn't work because sStandardInput is open
    Debug.WriteLine(proc.StandardOutput.ReadToEnd());
// There will be a really huge amount of text (at least 20 line per sw.Writeline) and
//it impacts performance so following line is not really what I'm looking for
    Debug.WriteLine(proc.StandardOutput.ReadToEnd());
    GetAllFiles is
a function that I've created to fetch all apk file full path. It gets two argument. First argument is path and second one is extension of file you want its full path to be fetched.
    This is not final code.
As I've commented it out first Debug.WriteLine doesn't
work and second one is not a good idea. how should I get output from proc?
I have tried running process by argument and its awful :)
    As another approach :
Because apk files are basically zip files I can extract them get what I want from them.
There is an xml file named Androidmanifest.xml in every apk file.
Androidmanifest.xml is like an ID card for an apk file and apk internal name can be found in it but here are some problems with this approach :
    1. Androidmanifest.xml is not a plain text file. It's coded and it requires a lot of complexity to decode it
    2. application name (or apk internal name) is an attribute in this file and it's value is not a string value. It's a reference to a file where strings are stored and worst thing is it's not an easy to find out reference. It's just a number

And you don't get any output from it? Maybe you're passing the arguments incorrectly?
No. I don't get any result and I have checked arguments and it's correct.
But you are already running a separate process for every apk file. You start a single cmd.exe and then send it commands that will cause aapt to be run for every file. Unless aapt accepts multiple apk filenames on the command line there's no way
    around using separate processes.
I didn't know that. anyway speed in this way is much more rather than creating a function. creating a Process object in it and calling function for each apk file.
I read somewhere that it's possible to run multiple commands in cmd by & operator but as you said I think every command runs aapt. I have tested this approach too and it's very very slow
fastest approach I have found is what I have wrote here and speed is about  0.6 per apk file which is still slow when there is thousands of apk files.
I tried an application that does same thing (fetching apk information) and in it's installation directory I found aapt.exe which means it uses this tool to get information but speed is significantly faster rather than my application.
So what's your suggestion about this?

  • SCCM 2012 - Problems running vbscript or simple command line

Hey everybody, I'm having a heck of a time trying to get SCCM 2012 to deploy some very simple Vbscripts or even a simple command line.  I need to deploy some registry fixes across the company as well as a Vbscript that uninstalls some old applications.
If I run these scripts/commands outside of SCCM everything works fine, inside of SCCM it always shows "succeeded" but it doesn't actually run correct on the client.
What's confusing to me is the use of distribution points when you're running a command line that doesn't actually have any source files.  For instance this is what I'm trying to run "regedit /s \\servername\folder\registryfix.reg".  I've also tried
a similar bat file as well with the same result.  I've tried it with a source folder specified, I've tried it using Run Program From Server or Download locally.  I've gone through everything I can think of but can't get it to work.
Similarly with a vbscript I'm trying "cscript.exe /s \\servername\folder\uninstallapps.wsf" and various different settings in the package deployment.
I'm really confused here guys so any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

What I have found is that if you try and run the REG.EXE command line directly, either as a program or via a CMD/BAT file, the 64-bit redirection will occur.  So, if you had something like this in a program or via a CMD/BAT file that ran against a 64-bit
    system:
    REG ADD HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Test /v Test /d Test
You would end up with this registry entry existing under:
    HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Test
That's because SCCM uses the 32-bit launcher to take care of this and redirection occurs - You can see this via the "CCM32BitLauncher.log" on the client.
To work around this problem, I have done the following:
On a reference machine, create/export the registry entry I want into a *.reg file - An example export of "Test.reg" for the above mentioned registry entry would look something like this:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Test]
    "Test"="Test"
      2.  Stick our "Test.reg" file in a source share, create a package with the share as the source content, and distribute it
      3.  Create a program for the package with a command line like this:
    REG IMPORT Test.reg
This is obviously not as clean as having a command line with a package to distribute, but I find it works fine for me and gets around the redirection for registry entries.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 bitlocker reporting via "Computers running a specific service"

I have searched the web for how to check how many clients have bitlocker enabled, via SCCM 2012 R2. All suggestions I find are SQL commands.
I have not found anyone who suggest using the report Operating System -> Services - Computers running a specific service -> Bitlocker Drive encryption service
Why is that? Is this report not trustworthy?
    Kthxbai

    Hi,
The service is used for prompting user's actions or storing encrypted information. It does not mean BitLocker is enabled when the service is running or not. You can start it manually. I suggest you refer to the blog below to utilize DCM to check if the Bitlocker
    is enabled.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 ccmsetup runs with SMS Agent Host on the "Service" mmc after upgrading the client to CU4.

    Dear Brothers,
I have an issue with two (2) of my Site Servers, I have below scenarioa and explained issue details:
    Scenario:
    1. Server1: Windows 2012 Server, CAS, SCCM 2012 Hierarchy Roles: Management Point, DP, SUP, Component Server.
    2. Server2: Windows 2008 R2 Server, Secondary Site Role, SCCM 2012 Hierarchy Roles: Management Point, DP, Component Server.
    Issue:
After updating the SCCM 2012 Client to CU4 on the actual Site Server, the "ccmsetup" appears also with "SMS Agent Host"
at the Service MMC. Which I believed this is very unusual behavior.
The Client however it seems properly installed and working please see below details:
Questions: I believed the Client installations are still running on the background, even though the Client tends to look working on the Control Panel.
    1. How can I resolved this issue?
    2. Should I need to perform a total Client uninstallation, even depth till removing entries in the Registry levels?
    3. Or this is a normal behavior for the scenario?
Advance thanks for your future replies, my brothers in technology.

    Dear Brother,
2 Weeks since I installed the CU4, it seems a little bit to long isn't it? for both the ccmsetup and the SMS Host Agent Services to exist, for the errors on the ccmsetup.log there are some errors after uninstallation since I am trying to removed

  • SCCM 2012 Prestage media - and bootwim prestart commands?

    Hi,
I am using SCCM 2012 SP1 with MDT 2012 and will be using the Bootwim prestart commands.
Prestart Commands for Task Sequence Media in Configuration Manager
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj651034.aspx
    Specifically:
"Enable prestart command - Commaand line"
"Include files for prestart command - Source directory"
Windows PE Background - specify custom background image (UNC Path):"
Ok so far so good. Now we want to create prestart media - to give to our
hardware vendor. Am I going to have an issue that the prestage media might
include the bootwim plus its customizations - and can go out of date.
So lets save I give it to the vendor on Monday - all fine. I then make a
change to it on Tuesday - update something inside the boot wim.
How smart is this prestage media will it check the server for a later copy
and use that or am it going to be locked in from when I give it to them.
I also might want to put things like active directory lookups for machine
    validate as well.
So can somebody please clarify how the above would work.
    Thanks,
    Ward.

Normally when you run a Task Sequence and the assigned boot image is different from the boot media you initiated the Task Sequence from, it will download the correct boot image, stage it, and reboot.  By default though this creates an issue because
it assumes you booted from removable media and will prompt you to remove it before rebooting to continue.  There's a way to bypass this via the tsmbootstrap.ini file, but the default behavior is to prompt.
I have also seen issues with boot image concurrence between prestaged media images and the selected Task Sequence when the functionality was originally introduced in CM07 (http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2012/07/12/multi-site-dell-cfi-follow-up/) but I
have not heard of it being an issue recently.  It should be relatively easy to test; apply the prestaged media image to a test machine, change or update the assigned boot image for the Task Sequence, then see if it successfully pulls down and boots to
    the updated WinPE.
Another option is to have your prestart script be relatively generic and have it download the files from a server at run time (ex - download a .CAB from a web server, expand the contents, and launch a script from those downloaded files). That way all you
have to do to update functionality is update the .CAB file, not the prestaged media or boot image.

  • SCCM 2012 sp1: howto remotely execute powershell commands?

    Hi,
Please advise on howto run remote powershell scripts to an SCCM 2012 SP1-server.
Locally importing the module (on sccm 2012) works fine, but not remotely. It tells I should run from x86 console, but I am!
    Please advise.

Start the SCCM Console and start Powershell from there. (left-top "Connect via Windows Powershell")
This will register the CM PSDrive for the user who started the console.
The PSDrive will not be available to a PowerShell IDE or another editor. However in looking at this, it shows that it's loading "Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.PowerShell.Types.ps1xml". So I tried the following:
    Update-TypeData
    -PrependPath
    ($Env:SMS_ADMIN_UI_PATH.Substring(0,$Env:SMS_ADMIN_UI_PATH.Length-5)
    +
    '\Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.PowerShell.Types.ps1xml')
That seems to load the correct datatype. However I still get an error doing the following command (example):
    New-PSDrive
    -Name
    "CAS"
    -PSProvider
    CMSite
    -Root
    "ServerUNC"
    Error:
New-PSDrive : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Hopefully someone knows more about TypeData...
