Running Number Form to Certificate?
Hello,
I am tasked to make a certificate for my company that has an auto-updating field so that each one produced for a client or customer is unique. The certificate is issued for recycling purposes, so each one needs to be unique so that we can match it to our records for proof of recycling if it is ever needed. I would like to have this number based off the date the form was generated and the sequential order it was generated in, just to keep things streamline and easy to keep in our records themselves.
For instance, the first form generated today, January 13, 2012 would be " 011312-01," the second would be "011312-02" and the ninety-nineth would be "011312-99" etc etc ect
I see fields that let me put in the current date but I'm assuming some deeper work would be required here. We would be sharing the form on a public server, so I'm assuming it would have to be saved after each use? Any advice you can give would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Dan
Hi Dan,
Unless you are connecting the form to a database or backend system, it will be difficult to keep track of the sequential number. How about using a date and time field, so that the sequential part of the number is the time component?
Good luck,
Niall

Grey Window - Does not open after Running a Form
Hello!
I have the following problem:
I just installed Oracle 9i-Developer Suite.
After installing it, I wanted to run a form (also made in Forms 9i).
So, I selected one form , connected to the database and Run it.
The first time, a dialog appeared informing me i need to instal Jinitiator1.3.1.9.
So, I installed JInitiator and Run the form again.
The result is that it does not open. It seems to be blocked.A grey window apppears and that is all. After some minutes (about 30 minutes after), 2 error messages appear:
1.FRM-92101 : A Failure has occured on the Server. you will need to reestablish your session.
2.FRM-92050 : Failed to connect to the Server. /forms 90/190servlet -1
Please tell me what to do next to run this form (or any other form).
If an aplication is runned, and it uses Jinitiator 1.3.1.13 everything seems to be ok.If you are getting the applet background (usually gray or tan colored), it means the http listener (oc4j) is likely already running. This is confirmed by the request to install jinitiator. If the listener was not running, neither of these events would occur.
Before going to far, I have to ask.... do you know how old 9i is? Also, "9i" could possibly be one of two versions 9iR1 = Forms 6.0.8 and 9iR2 = Forms 9.0.2. Both of these versions were desupported long ago. This is important to know for several reasons.
1. Even if you actually have a valid support contract with Oracle, they will not be able to offer much assistance as Support is not able to report new bugs against these versions and in some cases, can no longer refer you to documentation as some of it has already been obsoleted.
2. Because these versions are so old, they will not likely run on newer operating systems. For example if you are using Vista, Win7, Win2008, etc, Jinitiator will not run on these platforms. Since neither of these Forms versions was certified for use with any of the JRE versions that were supported on these newer operating systems, the only solution that makes sense would be to upgrade the Forms version.
Apparently, you partially see the problem as you indicated that it works when using JInit 1.3.1.13. Even this version is very old. In general, Jinitiator is no longer supported either, but the latest and last version is 1.3.1.30. So you can see that the latest version is many releases newer than .13. If you are not using one of the platforms I mentioned above, you may have more luck with a newer jinit version. You can download 1.3.1.30 from MyOracleSupport using Patch ID 7410076. If you do not have access to MOS, you may be temporarily out of luck as these files are currently not available on OTN although may return once the recent migration has been completed.
Regarding the errors you noted:
FRM-92101 generally indicates that the runtime (ifweb90.exe) was not able to start or crashed after it was started.
FRM-92050 generally means there was a problem with the url or the related session ID or header info. This can occur if your machine is not properly configured in DNS, as well as many other possible causes. Assuming you are using the Forms Builder to run your forms, try changing the url from the host name to "localhost". In other words:
http://localhost:<port number>/forms90/f90servlet
Regardless, upgrading will be you first best action. -
Hi all,
who can tell me how I can get running number for the results on my query for my JClient app. It should be a calculated field in the VO or something like that. If my query returns 5 rows, first should have no. 1, second no. 2, and so on. If an order by is appended maybe the former 5th row will be the first, so this row should have no. 1. I hope this is possible somehow?
Regards,
AxelI tried that already. It works for the query itself but as far as BC4J creates a statement like SELECT * (SELECT ..., rownum FROM ...) QRSLT ... the rownum column can not be selected any more. :-(

Hi,
Is it possible for us to debug a forms which is running in Oracle AS?
I guess is a remote question, but what is the purpose of having Attach Debug & Debug Control in the form builder?
Please help me.
Thanks
BalajiAttaching to a Form running outside the builder
The advantage of attaching the debugger to a Form that runs outside of the Builder is that the Form can be running on a different machine other than the one debugging it. The configuration gives an end user the opportunity to run the Form and encounter errors while the developer debugs interactively with the user.
To start debugging a Form that runs outside the Builder, the Form must be invoked with the parameter Debug=yes passed in the URL. This parameter will invoke a dialog that displays the host name and port number.
In the Forms Builder, open the FMB for the running Form, and select Debug | Attach Debug. You'll need to supply the host name and port number to start debugging the running Form. -
Unable to run the form from Form Builder 10g
HI,
I am having a problem with running a form with form builder 10g.
I have create a form with some text boxes to display values in a table.
When i compile and run the form it does not run The error shown is
HTTP 403(Forbidden) You are not authorised to view this page.
The Link used for the above is:
http://127.0.0.1:1740/sWuCqhMKUT1btA1N5cXLCRshkJzmgKRIlCEUFd9RL520LVq0
The port number 1740 changes everytime. I dont know why.
I have started the OC4J instance before starting the Form Builder.
I have made the changes to the runtime preferences in the form builder.
http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet
But it doesn't work when i try to run the form from Form Builder.
ie Program-->Run Form
The form works properly when using the 'Run a form on the Web Utility' provided with Developer Suite.
Can anyone please suggest a solution. I have searched the forum but didnot find a solution.
Thanks
V.S.One of our DBAs has installed the software.
It was a default installation, I believe, as no configuration was done during the installation except for increasing the virtual memory size.
Post installation we changed the tnsnames.ora file and the sqlnet.ora file.
Do i need to configure something ?
Thanks,

Unable to run the form in another Widow
Hi Form,
I have configured the Oracle 10gDS on WindowsXP Professional to work with Oracle 9i Database. When I am executing a form instead of opening in a seperate Browser window, it is opening in the same browser windows. What are all the requisite changes I should make in formsweb.cfg.
Help is very much appreciated.Dear Tony and Tomas,
my problem is :
when launching oracle forms it is not displayed in a seperate java applet window.
here is the formsweb.cfg file of my 10g OC4J server.

# formsweb.cfg defines parameter values used by the FormsServlet (frmservlet)
# This section defines the Default settings. Any of them may be overridden in the
# following Named Configuration sections. If they are not overridden, then the
# values here will be used.
# The default settings comprise two types of parameters: System parameters,
# which cannot be overridden in the URL, and User Parameters, which can.
# Parameters which are not marked as System parameters are User parameters.
# SYSTEM PARAMETERS
# These have fixed names and give information required by the Forms
# Servlet in order to function. They cannot be specified in the URL query
# string. But they can be overridden in a named configuration (see below).
# Some parameters specify file names: if the full path is not given,
# they are assumed to be in the same directory as this file. If a path
# is given, then it should be a physical path, not a URL.
# USER PARAMETERS
# These match variables (e.g. %form%) in the baseHTML file. Their values
# may be overridden by specifying them in the URL query string
# (e.g. "http://myhost.mydomain.com/forms/frmservlet?form=myform&width=700")
# or by overriding them in a specific, named configuration (see below)

Request to SAP - Adobe Forms test certificate missing / expired
Hello,
the Adobe certificate present on the SDN page:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/70aa75cc-6ac3-2910-c78c-ade192ec861e
does not provide a valid certificate for 2012. There's been some error and this certificate is only valid until January 2011 (!).
Please provide a new test certificate.
Best regards!
Piotr SliwinskiHi Pradeep,
I think that you may not get the performance running adobe forms while using citrix. For using portal applications you need to open the port to access the client portal through VPN.

How to Maintain Running number in the E-Mail while campaign is executing
Hai everyone..
We are trying to incorporate a running number in the e-mail for validation purpose at later stage. This running number will be the part of e-mail content and it will be different for each BP, who are in the target group..
can anybody give me idea in this regard..
RegardsHi Veerendra,
The below info. might further help your technical consultant to achieve this.
Use this BAdI (CRM_MKT_PRC_CONVERT) to enable you to shrink or shorten very large numbers taken from the number range interval and convert them to a more user-friendly format, such as an alphanumeric form. This BAdI is implemented as a part of Campaign Response Handling. It is called by the APIs during campaign execution to create and send personalized letters, mails, SMSs, and faxes.
You can implement your own conversion logic to convert the Personalized Response Code (PRC), which is integrated with Mail Forms. The PRC is generated by using the standard Number Range function and is in numeric form (Base10). The number range interval can be defined in the Customizing activity Define Number Range Interval for PRC.
Note: Important PRC-related attributes:
Maximum possible length of PRC: 12 digits
Highest possible value of PRC that can be generated: "999999999999"
Maximum possible length of PRC when converted to an alphanumeric form: 16 characters
Default Settings
A default implementation of the method CONVERT_PRC is provided to convert the PRC to an alphanumeric form. This implementation can be replaced by a custom implementation.
Reward points if it helps.
Thanks.

It sounds like you are using a web version of Oracle Forms (9i, 10g, 11g) but it would helpful to know the exact release. More than likely, you simply need to start the OC4J (9i or 10g) or WebLogic Server (WLS) if you are using Forms 11g. It would also be helpful to know your workstation OS and Java versions.

How to run the form that is only installed on a PC and not using a server?
Hi
I am new to Oracle and have taken the forms class. But I do not understand how to run the form from my PC using XP windows. (Do not have access to a server).
I have started the OC4J, made sure the listener was started, compiled the form and then when I run it, it automatically goes to the HTTP:
ERROR: res://ieframe.dll/acr_depnx_error.htm#,http://kevin:8889/forms/frmservle
I connected to the database correctly. I can process a report and it does nor try to access the internet. My only issue is running the form. I verified it compiled.
Sorry for a basic question. Could someone please help, I tried reviewing other questions, but not sure if they are connecting to a server or not.
I see webutil but is it required if I don't have a server? Thank you in advance.Regardless of the version, it appears that you may not have configured the Builder. Do the following:
1. Open the Builder
2. From the menu, select Edit > Preferences > Runtime
3. In the box labeled "Application Server URL:", enter a local URL needed to run a form OR click the button labeled "Reset to Default". If you decide to manually enter a value, it would looks something like this:
http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet
4. In the field labeled "Web Browser Location:", enter the path and executable to your preferred browser. So for example if IE is your browser of choice the entry would most likely look like this:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
5. Click on OK and retest.
By the way, you can manually enter a URL in the browser. Clicking the RunForm button from the Builder is strictly optional. To run the "test" form directly from the browser enter the following into the browser's address field:
http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet?form=test
