  • 4Th Generation Time Capsule Running Backup very Slow

I am having a problem with my 4th generation time capsule as it is running very slow , it shows that i need to backup 151 Gb data and for the last 2 days the device backup only 150 mb, pls advise what is the problem? setup of the wireless network seems fine to me without any problem
    please help

When you use ethernet, make sure your wireless is turned off in the computer.
It can be worthwhile isolating the TC to the Computer so there is nothing else happening.
Also for Mavericks ensure you have ipv6 set correctly to link-local.
A 100GB backup certainly should not take 20hours..
Although the 2008 (gen1 TC is much slower than later versions).
A first backup of the computer must deal with loads and loads of little files, as a warning can go slow.
A different backup software will be just the same.. it is the speed over network and handling small files that is the issue. Once that first backup is done the later incrementals should not be a problem though.

Thanks for responding. I do yeah. It didnt make much difference with mail though...Oddly enough I came across the below and it helped, now mail is running really well

Finally - I have a fix. It was related to address book problems.
    The solution is highlighted here:
         https://discussions.apple.com/message/19037910#19037910
*** Be warned though - make sure you already have contacts up in iCloud before doing this:
    1. Bring up System Preferences, go to iCloud and uncheck "Contacts"
    2. You need to remove the folder /Users/<your_name>/Library/Application Support/AddressBook
If you have issues removing, quit Mail and Contacts
If you don't have contacts in iCloud, try renaming the folder
    3. Reboot the machine
    4. Bring up System Preferences, go to iCloud and now check "Contacts"
Now when you bring up Contacts, it should sync with iCloud, Mail and Messages will work fine.

  • Keeps Crashing out runs so very slow with more than say 50 images

I useually come home from a shoot with around 2000 photos, I normally put theses into one directory in Lightroom called 'Temp Photos', this is so that I can go through and delete the duds, after that I will go through and rotate any that are slightly off square, and then finally I will Colour and Tone adjust what is left, normally ending up with 1500 to 1800 photos.
The problem is this, I need to reload Lightroom after the import, the main reason for this is that when I load up the Task Panel it stats that Lightroom is using up around 780Mb RAM and around 99% CPU, and the system just grinds to a hault, that is if I can get Task Panel to even load, Lightroom seems to be so memory hungry that I normally can not get any response from the system at all, and have to resort to holding in the power button on the PC to shut it down and then boot from cold again.
I need to do this about 10-20 times when working on this amount of images, as the more that I work with it the slower it gets, some times I can guage it right and I can quit out of Lightroom and restart it before it hangs the system.
The system is a Dual Xeon 2.8GHz running XP SP2, 2Gb RAM, a 512Mb Video Card and load of Hard drive space, So why is this software SO memoryu hungry, and what Can i do to speed it up.

    > what Can i do to speed it up.
When you import, make sure you render standard previews.
After that, go to grid mode and the smallest available cell size. Look at the cells. In the upper right corner you'll likely see three dots. Wait for them all to disappear and then page down. Repeat until you get to the bottom. When you are done, restart LR.
Let me know if that speeds your performance.

  • Windows 8.1 running games very slow

I bought my iMac new in late 2013 and recently put a copy of windows 8.1 on it via bootcamp.  However, when I tried to play any game on it which uses 3d graphics it is unplayable due to lag.  When I launched Fable: The Lost Chapters (a game that came out 10 years ago!) I get a pop up saying that my machine is not powerful enough to play it.  Has anyone experienced similar issues with gaming on windows 8.1 via bootcamp?

    Hi,
I recommend you check this solution of this issue:

  • Web pages containing flash run/scroll very slow, help plz

    hi guys,
complete first timer on here so be gentle,
i have a very annoying problem with flash player and my
    firefox web browser.
    what happens is,
normal browsing is all ok with no problems, but as soon as a
flash ad or anything with flash appears , it basically brings that
web page to a stand still.
meaning, you know when you use your scroll wheel under normal
circumstances, to scroll down a page, well when the problem
happens, the page just virtually freezes up, and scrolling just
    becomes impossible.
i figured this out to be a flash player problem, when i was
on IGN'S web site, and they have small ads appearing at regular
intervals, and i noticed that as soon as ads appeared, the
    scrolling problem happened.
so can anybody give me any ideas as to why or how to stop
    this happening.
i have firefox 2.0.0.3 and flash player 9,0,28,0
    thanks for any help.

    aghh right,
basically on both the links above, i have no problems,
my problems are whenever there is flash ads or flash movie
streams, my scrolling is so bad, i have to go back to the old
    fashion drag the bar.
i did actually think i had cured it with a reinstall of flash
    player, but its back again.
as much as it pains me to say this....iam real tempted to go
    back to the dreaded I.E.
as my main interests are gaming, virtually all my sites i
visit are every flash orientated, so to be honest, i dont know what
    to do.
one thing for sure its dam annoying.

    Hello,
I have a Macbook Pro (see specs below). I upgraded to Lion and ever since have had extremely slow processing speeds. This includes simple menu navigation, internet, startup/down - pretty much everything.
Do I need more RAM? I see that many in this forum have reported similar issues but there does not seem to be a consensus on the problem.
Any help would be much appreciated. I do not even want to use it at this point and pretty much only use my iPad now - rendering the MBP a $2,000 silvertone paperweight.

  • Dashboard to BEx query call run time very slow (7-8 mins)

    Hi Guys,
I am currently working on a project where BEx query is being consumed using BICS. The functional team has built a BEx which is being cached in Webi by the BO developer and then that cashed Webi is being used in Dashboard. We have many hierarchies (Fund Center, Profit Center, GL Account etc.) used in the dashboard.
BEx query > WEBi (Cached) > Dashboard
Clicking the main level in hierarchy in dashboard the data comes back in 2-3 secs as the data is cached in Webi
ISSUE: In Dashboard based on where user is on the Fund Center hierarchy there is a button called “Summary Report” on the dashboard which calls the BEx query and that second call takes roughly about 7-8 minutes. How could we reduce the run time of the second query?
The secondary query uses the same data set as the first one but as the data is cached in Webi and it uses Web services to pass data to dashboard, so any call back from dashboard to the cached webi the hierarchy information is lost  and thus the secondary query call to BEx query.
Would it be possible to recommend any solution where we could bring the run time of the secondary call to less than a minute?
    Thanks,

  • Reports running is very slow

    Hi All,
I have developed an application in oracle application express 3.2.My data size is very huge and reports are taking too much time in displaying contents.
I have 30 million records in the table which has 4 years of data.
Filters on the user interface are company, month, year, work location, employee name and category.Since this is my first application. Also first time i am working in Oracle database and APEX.So i don't have any idea in which way i can make it faster.
I guess this can be done by some modification in tables like generating indexes or something else.
Please guide me on this it will be highly appreciated.
Also i am not using any images, graphical thing which is causing any delay in report generation.I am just creating a simple report and showing values sum, group by.
Since my application is ready and already in production So it will be difficult to do changes in the report level. If by doing any changes in the tables can make it faster that would be really great.
    Regards,
    Oracle Rookie

    Hi
Oracle SQL perfomance tuning is an entire art in it's own right! The most likely issue is that your SQL for the report needs tuning (and part of that may involve indexing, gathering table statistics etc.).
This is probably best addressed in the PL/SQL & SQL forum here...
    PL/SQL
However, beware that they will want a properly written question with all the relative information in. There are guidelines here...
    SQL and PL/SQL FAQ
And specifically for tuning requests here...
    SQL and PL/SQL FAQ
Although the amount of information required will look a little daunting, it really is worth doing properly - you will just be asked the info if you don't provide it, wasting yours and others time.
    Good Luck
    Cheers
    Ben

  • 3g running so very slow

I'm ready to throw this piece of junk in the trash and go back to the blackberry.
I've cleaned up all the uneeded aps, downloaded the latest OS, read all the posts, rebooted, etc. and still it takes up to 15 seconds just to load an app, the screen sticks, etc. when trying to use it.
Any ideas would be welcome (other than buy a 4G).

You try a full erase and restore with software upgrade?

  • Very slow running CUITs in both Visual Studio and Microsoft Test Manager

I've tried the exact same test cases on another less powerful computer and it runs perfectly. However on one machine it runs very slow. It seems to take ages finding execute each step. Not sure what is going on. Help greatly appreciated.

    Hi Daithi,
Based on your issue, I suggest you could try to create a simple coded UI test such as you can record the Calculator action and then check if you still get the issue about
running CUITs very slow in VS.
In addition, I suggest you could try to delete all the temp files from your system and other temp files, or in short you can just log off and then log in back again....you'll definitely find your automation run faster.
There are two blogs shared us some suggestions to improve the coded UI test performance, I often use them, if possible, please check them.

My mac mini 2010 (2.4 Ghz, 8GB ram) is running really very slow after updating to Mavericks.
Clearly OneDrive is a pain... but had it running on ML as well, and though it is a memory and CPU hog, it never really slowed down the system.

  • Applet with JDBC runs very slow

I have recently created an applet which I am using to interface with a MS SQL Server 2000 database using JDBC. The server is running W2K Server, and a Tomcat web server.
There are some performance problems with this application. The volume of data being demanded by the database is very low, yet it runs very slow. More specifically, however, the application runs at a very fast pace for several seconds, then "stalls" for 10 -15 seconds.
The stalling of the application does not take place at the same place in the code all the time; rather it seems to be completely independent of what I am doing. Sometimes a particular operation takes 20 seconds to complete, but the next day the same thing only takes 20msec.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
