Running PI on AS400 Servers

Hi,
Does anybody experienced running PI on an AS400 server?
AFAIK, Only the ADS component of AS Java is not running properly on AS400 servers. Others are running without problem.
What is your experience and/or suggestion?
Regards

Hello,
we have customer running PI on AS400 succesfully. In my experience from SAP point of view there isn't any difference. You have all the benfits of AS400 technology.
Do you need any additional hint?
Bye.

  • Remote Exchange Management Console "W3SVC isn't running on any Exhange servers in site" and always shows older version after SP2 or SP3 installed

I'm trying to use EMC on a computer to remotely manage Exchange 2010 without having to do from the actual Exchange servers.
First off, upgrading, uninstalling or installing EMC always fails on "Stopping" services. Seams to be a pretty common problem, but no clear fix other than deleting the registry entry (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer) and the
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server" folder. I'm guessing this is a bug since there should not be any Exchange services that need to be stopped on a computer where I'm just trying to use the EMC tool to manage Exchange.
Next, is where when I open EMC I get "The World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC) isn't running on any Exchange servers in the site. If you want to connect to Remote PowerShell, this service must be running. Make sure that the W3SVC is running on
at least one Exchange server." From all the reading I am pretty sure that this is due to the Exchange servers being on one version and EMC I'm trying to use is another version.
This is the version our Exchange Servers are on:
    ProductVersion   FileVersion      FileName
    14.02.0375.000   14.02.0375.000   C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\bin\ExSetup.exe
Which finally brings me to the part where no matter what SP I install to run EMC it always shows:
    ProductVersion   FileVersion      FileName
    14.01.0218.015   14.01.0218.015   C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\bin\ExSetup.exe
I've tried SP2, and even SP3 hopeing that an even newer version would let me connect to Exchange, but no matter what it always shows the 14.01 version above.
I've also tried installing "Exchange2010-KB2874216-x64-en" which should be the same version we are on (Update Rollup 7 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2), but get a Windows Installer Error stating, "The upgrade patch cannot be installed
by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program." This Error probably makes sense if no matter what I do I'm stuck with a version prior to SP2.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
From your description, I would like to clarify the following things:
    1. Make sure the World Wide Web Publishing Service is running in Exchange server.
    2. Ensure that the account you use to open EMC is a member of Organization Management role group.
    3. Based on my knowledge, the error "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program." occurs if you install
the RU for a different SP. Please re-download the Service Pack 2 and install it on the remote computer since it hasn't been installed successfully from the above information.
What's more, here is a similar thread for your reference.

  • What needs to be prepare for running Tuxedo in AS400

    Greetings all,
I want to run Tuxedo on AS400. The operating system is V5R3. My questions are :
    - what is the latest Tuxedo version for AS400?
    - how to get installation guide in AS400?
    - based on your experienced, how stable is the system running on AS400?
    - currently I already have a Tuxedo application running on Sun machine. I am using Tuxedo version 8.0
How difficult is the setting in AS400 comparing to Sun machine ?
    Thanks.

We are currently planning on certifying the Tux 6.5 OS400 V5R1 binaries onto V5R3 by May 2005 (they have already been certified on R2). OS400 support is not currently available on Tux 8.x.
You can co-mingle earlier versions of Tuxedo (e.g. 6.5) with Tux 8.0 (as long as Tux 8.0 is the master domain). Tux 6.5 clients are also fully supported wit Tux 8.x.
OS400 release is very stable and was first introduced in 1999. if you need more specifics on patch levels or number of patch issues in the last few years, please ping me directly at [email protected]
Here is the URL (to PDF, HTML also available) to Tux 6.5 eDoc, which has an entire guide on OS400 and the installation process should be very straightforward (note you’ll need 6.5 license key, 8.0 keys will not work)

  • Tuxedo running on AS400 or running applications of AS400 on Tuxedo .

    Hi,
Please share how and what is beneficial for the customer using AS/400.
    1. To run the existing AS400 applications on Oracle tuxedo running in AS400
    OR
    2. To run applications of AS/400 on Oracle Tuxedo on different platforms like intel x64.
    Any references ?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I'm not an AS400 expert (or even all that knowledgeable about AS400), that being said, the advantage I see is that moving their applications onto Tuxedo would allow them to run their applications on any Tuxedo supported platform and remove their dependence on an IBM proprietary OS. Tuxedo applications can run on AS400, OpenVMS, AIX, Solaris, Linux, HPUX, Windows, and other platforms. As well their applications gain the benefits that Tuxedo provides, namely performance, virtually unlimited scalability, and unmatched reliability. As I said, I'm not an AS400 expert, but I know many customers that have moved their CICS, IMS, GCOS, and other applications to Tuxedo and have achieved significant reductions in TCO.

  • Can SharePoint Apps and SharePoint 2013 workflow run on the same servers?

As the SharePoint 2013 workflow manager can run on non-sharePoint servers. Can I also use those server to host SharePoint apps in the Provider host model?
Or should I keep them separate?
This is a medium size deployment, 2 WFEs, 2 Apps, 1 Clustered DB.   I would be adding 2 additional servers for hosting workflow manager, and SharePoint apps.
One other option I can think of would be to host the Workflow manager on the SharePoint Apps servers.  And then host the SharePoint Apps on the 2 separate servers.
Any guidance or gatchas would be great the hear about.
    Thanks!
    Joshua Fuente

Yes, you should be able to run SharePoint Provider hosted apps using the Workflow Server as the provider.  There is nothing in workflow manager that prevents running web sites on the same server.

  • Domain Admins not able to run executable on Domain Servers

I have built a VM domain of Windows 2008 R2 SP1 x64 machines.  One Domain controller, 4 member servers.  I have built a couple users, and put them into the following domain groups:
    Domain Admins
    Enterprise Admins
    Schema Admins
However, if I log into any of the machines as the two users I created, I cannot run, for instance, setup.exe for SQL server.  I am invariably told :
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file.  You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I CAN access stuff on the Domain Controller logged in as one of those users.  So all these problems only apply to the member servers.
I have checked to unblock the files (not an issue)
I have modified UAC settings through SECPOL.msc
I have confirmed that the users in question (as well as the groups above) are members of the local Administrators group on each node.  The only way for me to run these programs (things like regedit also won't run either) is to log in as Administrator
(domain and local work for this)
I have removed a member server from the domain and re-added it.  I did so using one of the userids that have been problematic.  It added it to the domain fine, but upon reboot, that userid had effectively no rights on the box.
I have no idea what the problem is.  I can't even elevate a command prompt to administrator - it gives the error above.
I built this system for some exercises and testing for a cert test I am taking.  If I can't get these (or any other) accounts working, I am kinda stuck.
Any help would be great, because none of this makes sense.
    Thanks,
    Todd

  • Same transaction variant runs differently on different servers

    Hi experts,
We have created a transaction variant for MK01.
Our production system consists of 3 servers.
Everything is ok when we use this transaction variant on the main server, but there is a dump when the transaction variant is run on another server...
Any idea from where this problem may come : problem in the transaction variant, problem on server customizing ?
    Thanks for your help !

Sorry, more details about the dump !
Using ST22, I found the following dump message :
    SYSTEM_CORE_DUMPED
    Process terminated by signal 11
Another information : Using SM21, I found the following messages :
Signal 11 received by operating system

  • Running PSConfig on multiple servers at the same time

Hi - we are updating an 8 server farm with a CU and in order to reduce downtime I am wondering whether it is supported/risky to run PSConfig on multiple SharePoint servers at the same time
I plan to run the first one by itself - then after that set 7 off at the same time
In the past I have always run them serially just to be cautious but there is pressure to reduce downtime so I want to know if there is any risk in running them simultaneously
    Thanks!
    J

In general its not a good idea.  Running PSConfig will try to establish a lock on the configuration database.  Doing that from two servers at the same time may cause the update to fail.

  • Singleton deployed in cluster runs in both managed servers

    Hi,
I have deployed a singleton service in a Weblogic (9.2) cluster. This cluster has two managed servers.
Recently we saw instances of this singleton services running on both these managed servers, which resulted in a lot of duplicate data in our system.
Is this a bug in the system? How can we prevent this?

    Hi,
Could you please refer the following links and confirm me if you had defined and configured the singleton service as mentioned in the links:

  • ACE 4710 multiple services running on load balanced Servers

    Our Exchange 2010 hub servers run multiple services/ports:  smtp, www, pop3,135, 143, https, 993, 995, 6001,6002,6003,60200,60201,8400, and 8402
what is the best way of balancing these servers so that if only one of the services failed on a server, it would switch only the failed service to remaining servers.
At present I only use an smtp probe, so as log as that sevrice is running the server is marked good. It seems to me the setup could get quite complicated so any responses welcome.

  • Setup of support structure for J2EE systems running on Oracle App Servers

I'm not sure if this is the best place to pose this question, but I can' really think of anywhere better. Apologies to anyone who may be reading this and thinking 'what does this guy think he's doing!'
Over the last two years, we have been implementing a number of J2EE systems for a large insurance company. The way we have been supporting these systems, is by making a number of senior staff available to field any issues. We are talking about DBAs, Oracle App Server admins, and senior Java staff (generally the same individuals as the Oracle App Server admins). Now, we do have an on-call support roster, but because our developers are generally not environment savvy they are not suitable for on-call support. They know the code inside out (for their particular application) but have not been exposed to the environment and possibly other applications running there in.
So since it is not feasible, or fair, to ask developers to go oncall, it is left to us poor saps (generally myself and a DBA in the States). This problem will only get worse as time goes on: the more applications added to the environment, the more complex the support requirements, the less available developers are to do frontline support.
    So my questions are:
Has anyone faced this kind of a problem before?
What kind of an individual is most suitable for frontline support?
What structures could be put in place to address this problem?
What tools do people use to help them in frontline support of their J2EE systems?
In my mind, a suitable candidate needs, at the very least the following skills:
    Knowledge of Unix commands
Working knowledge of Oracle AS, various OC4j instances, config files, deployment structure etc.
Good, not necessarily expert level, of Java. Someone who can make sense of a stack trace at least.
Awareness of the enterprise, not just the application servers but all constituent parts in the application i.e. database, ldaps, external hosts etc.
Thanks much in advance to anyone who can offer any advice on this topic.

    Jason,
    You said:
So since it is not feasible, or fair, to ask developers to go oncallActually, in my experience, developers are always "oncall". In the company that I work for, a developer can be contacted whenever and asked to help with some support issue.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

    Hi Ravi0211,
The script below may be helpful for you, which can filter the process based on the property "idprocess" and the services based on the service "name":
    $pids=@()
    $output=@()
    $output1=@()
    get-content d:\processid.txt|foreach{
$pids+=$_} #store the processid as an array
    Get-WmiObject -class Win32_PerfFormattedData_PerfProc_Process | foreach{
if ($pids -contains $_.idprocess){#filter the processid listed in the file d:\processid.txt
    $Obj = New-Object -TypeName PSObject
    $Obj | Add-Member -MemberType NoteProperty -Name idprocess -Value $_.idprocess
    $Obj | Add-Member -MemberType NoteProperty -Name Memory -Value $_.WorkingSetPrivate
    $output+=$obj}
    $services = get-content d:\service.txt
    Foreach($service in $services){
    Get-service | foreach{
If ($_.name –like “*$service*”){#filter the service based on the service name stored in d:\service.txt

But I'm getting this error when the transaction is committed.

    Hi Suraj,
I think that the XI communication channel which i am using for my java server proxy is fine becoz after selecting XI as my adapter type then Adapter Engine contains Integration Server(by default) there i used to write the port number(in this case it is the port number of non central adapter engine where my proxy beans are deployed) as shown below:
    Adapter type: XI
    Adapter Engine: Integration Server.
    Addressing type: URL address
    Target Host: YYYY
Service number: 51000( port number pointing towards the non central adapter engine installed)
And also the message log which is coming under MDT is like this after running the scenario:
2009-10-29 11:55:01 Information The message was successfully received by the messaging system. Protocol: XI URL: http://YYYY:51000/MessagingSystem/receive/JPR/XI Credential (User): XXXX
2009-10-29 11:55:01 Information Using connection JPR. Trying to put the message into the receive queue.
2009-10-29 11:55:01 Information Message successfully put into the queue.
2009-10-29 11:55:01 Information The message was successfully retrieved from the receive queue.
2009-10-29 11:55:01 Information The message status was set to DLNG.
2009-10-29 11:55:01 Information Java Proxy Runtime (JPR) accepted the message.
2009-10-29 11:55:24 Error JPR could not process the message. Reason: Cannot locate proxy bean JavaProxy3.
2009-10-29 11:55:24 Error Delivering the message to the application using connection JPR failed, due to:
com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Error processing inbound message. Exception: Cannot locate proxy bean JavaProxy3.
2009-10-29 11:55:24 Information The message status was set to WAIT.
    Please suggest some solution.
    Thanks
    Amit
