Running Production Premium CS5 & CS6 on the same system / any issues ?

Still not sure which way to go with the CS6 upgrade, non-Creative cloud version..
Run both on the same system or uninstall CS5 first..
Prefer not to slow down the system but CS5 is running perfectly now..
Anyone tried both at the same time ?
How is opening existing CS5 projects with CS6, this is a concern for me & why I might like to have both installed on the same system ?

Having installed CS5, CS5.5, CS6 and CC is no problem. They are separate installs.
Moving projects from CS5 --> CS5.5 --> CS6 --> CC is no problem.
Moving projects from CC --> CS6 is not possible.
Moving projects from CS6 --> CS5.5 can be problematic.

  • Can I Install Production Premium CS5 on a existing CS4 system ?

    Hi
I am still a happy CS4 Production Premium user. That's mostly because Matrox is not delivering rtx2 drinver for CS5 now.
But I have already received my CS5 upgrade. And it sits on the shelf and collects dust. What a shame ...
So can I install CS5 on the same system (Win 7 64Bit) as the running CS4 version, without risking to damage the whole thing ?
Will they affect each other ? What if I would embed a AE CS4 comp into a PremPro CS5 Project.
But even if I try to keep work strictly separated:
Is it possibel at all to have both on one system ?
Are there things like Adobe updater or Bridge oder Dynamic link in general that get totally confused then ?
Has anyone done that with success ? Or what are Your experiences ?
Thanks for any ideas or solutions!
    Peter

CS5 will not touch the CS4 installation. Go for it.

  • Can I run FCP7 and FCP X on the same system?

I can't open my FCP 7 projects in FCP X so I will need both programs to run simultaneously so I can access previous work while building new cuts.  This seems utterly ridiculous but it appears to be true.  Please correct me if I'm wrong since I have more than 400 FCP 7 projects, the majority of which are still ongoing... what do I do to handle this, start from scratch on 400 projects that date back several years... brutal.

Personally, I'd never switch a project in which I've invested time and effort to a new application, other than a test project to begin the investigation into how the new app could work in the future. I don't think "pros" even update an existing app like FCP while in a project unless the update is specifically for an issue they are having with their project. FCP7 is great and will continue to be great, ongoing projects should stay there.
It will be interesting to see as FCP X matures if Apple or a third party develops a way to import FCP7 projects, or at least aspects of it, but as FCP X is such a different approach I wouldn't count on it.
Apparently that means that someday we'll need to "freeze" an FCP7 installed system in time (not today, but in the next year os so) to be able to just work on and have access to FCP7 projects. New and discontinued apps are a fact of life in computer world, as inconvenient as it may be. Operating Systems, and hardware that will run them, go away too. In 20+ years I've had to abandon OS platforms, apps, and documents, or make a switch where I had to start over, but never anything as complex or meaningful as my FCP7 projects.
So, basically, I agree with Tom, I just use a few more words. ::grin::

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 Dynamic Link not working as part of Production Premium CS5

I ran into a situation whereby I recently reinstalled my Production Premium CS 5 onto a new computer and when trying to run the Dynamic Link out of Premiere PRO CS 5 to create a new After Effects composition, After Effects tried to start up but then crashed with the error that Production Premium was needed.
Yet, I had Production Premium CS5.
(Note:  The crash didn't occur when I simply tried to use Dynamic Link without anything selected in my project or timeline - but the moment I had a clip in my timeline selected to work on it, the dynamic link would not work as covered above.)
In checking around the forums I found various answers to this problem such as rebooting the computer, reformatting hard drives and/or whatever.  This all may be correct.
However, as I just went through that nightmare, I was not anxious to do that again.  So, I called Adobe and the following solution solved the matter in 5 minutes:
    1. Close all your other Adobe applications such as After Effects.
    2. Open up Premiere Pro CS5 and then deactivate it by going to HELP>DEACTIVATE and then Permanently Deactivate.
3.Close the application and restart Premiere Pro CS5.
4.Then do the same to Activate it.
    5. Have your serial number handy and plug it in when prompted.
Solved it right away and worked beautifully.
Not to say there couldn't be more complicated situations, but the above worked and the simpler the better is good for me. And I thought I would post this in case anyone else ran into this problem.

    Thanks for posting your solution.

  • Middle East Versions - Production Premium CS5

    Hi guys,
We recently purchased Adobe Design Premium ME Middle East for our editors over here.  They have further requested for us to purchase them a copy of Adobe Production Premium ME Middle East for them.  However, I've been looking everywhere for a copy of this and have lost hope.  Does this even exist?   Is there a possibility of maybe purchasing and installing Production Premium (US Edition) at the same time as Middle East Design Premium without some conflict or should I simply have them deal with two different MACs, one with ME and a US Production Premium edition.  What do you guys think?  Thanks!

If I stay with CS5.5, will I continue to get RAW updates in the future (i.e., If I buy a new camera in a few years time, will I still be able to use Photoshop cs 5.5)
Not to edit Raw files. Raw specifications vary with each and every new camera make and model that arrives on the market.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
So Adobe's ACR is in permanent catchup mode in order to include the new Raw specs for each and every new camera. In addition, major updates of Camera Raw are not compatible with previous versions of Creative Suite.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
For example, ACR7.4 is the current version of ACR and ACR7+ is only compatible with CS6+. Your CS5.5 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.7 - so there'll be no Raw support for new cameras for your CS5.5.
So if you want to keep CS5.5 and buy a new camera in future, you'll have to download the free DNG converter from Adobe, then convert the Raw files to DNGs. Then edit the DNGs in CS5.5.

  • Dreamweaver 8 and DW cs4 or DW cs5 on the same system?

    Hi all,
I'm using DW8 + MX Kollection 3.7 pro for large sites and I I'm thinking to install DW CS4 or CS5 along with it.
    So, my question:
can I install DW CS4 + ADDT or DW CS5 (alone) on the same system?
    Do they interfere each other?
I don't mind working on the same website with different version of DW.
But it could happen that I will need to edit a page of a website with a different verison of DW. Is there any problem to do this?
For example: will DW CS4 + ADDT retain all server behaviuors created in DW 8? or, at least, will DW CS4 editing break server behaviour so that I will not able to work again on the page with DW8?
Sorry for all these /dumb) question but I fear upgrading (every application) will break something working right away.
    TIA

Yes, you can install them on the same system, and no, they won't interfere with each other.  Each version of DW installs as a complete, standalone application.
But it could happen that I will need to edit a page of a website with a different verison of DW. Is there any problem to do this?
    No there's not a problem.

  • Multiple instances of ColdFusion Builder on the same system?

    Hi Folks,
Four of us work remotely in my company.  It is not uncommon for us to all remote desktop into a system reserved for our use and three of us be using CFEclipse at the same time.  We recently installed ColdFusion Builder on this system and found that it would only allow one instance of ColdFusion Builder to run.  When attempting to start a second instance CFBuilder would show the flash screen and then nothing more.
Is anyone aware of workarounds or other changes that will enable us to run multiple instances of CFBuilder on the same system?
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas Woestman

    Will look into this issue.
But for now as a workaround, whenever you want to launch CF Builder if there is .bolt file please delete the .bolt it from
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe ColdFusion Builder\ . And you will be able to launch it even while other has kept it open.
    Thanks,
    Krishna

  • CS2 & CS4 Extended on the same system

I have downloaded the CS4 Extended Trial but did not uninstall CS2 before doing so. Can these both exist on the same system without issues?
    Thanks!

Yes. I have Photoshop 2.5.1, PS 6, PS 7, CS, CS2, CS3, CS4 all playing nice together on the same machine.

  • Upgrade Price Speculations Production Premium CS5.5 to CS6?

Anyone have an idea of the cost to upgrade from Production Premium CS5.5 to CS6?  Right now you can buy the updgrade from CS5 to CS5.5 for $399 + 10% off until the 15th.  If you buy the CS5 to CS5.5 upgrade now, you get CS6 for free.  Wonder if buying the CS5 to CS5.5 upgrade with a free copy of CS6 for $360 will be cheaper than the CS5.5 to CS6 upgrade.  If you are still on CS5, seems like a not brainer.  Thoughts?

Yes, maybe...maybe not? Who knows? Well...besides Adobe. And maybe Dave, but he's not interested in discussing anything today. And this is really more appropriate to the Lounge anyway.
BUT - I like your question, and I want to try to give you some advice if I can so here goes.
You're likely to see that the upgrade price for the boxed/download version of Production Premium CS6 isn't much different than what you're seeing now for the intermediate "upgrade now, save later" type offers.
For me, I'm holding on to see what the final pricing and layout is for Creative Cloud. Probably looking at that costing me a bit more over the short run based on my current Adobe purchasing history, but there's supposed to be quite a bit of extra goodness in there so probably worthwhile.
If you have a money back guarantee wherever you're purchasing, you can always buy now, don't open it, then return it in a week or so if pricing is announced and it makes a difference.
If you think you'd have a use for the Creative Cloud, you may want to wait. The preliminary pricing listed by Adobe is $49/month for annual subscribers. Maybe it'll be discounted for 1-year if you already own CS5 or CS5.5 versions of one of the suites. Dunno. Probably more info within the next 7 days.

  • Doubts about upgrading from Production Premium CS5 to CS6

    — I actually have CS5 Production Premium installed on my iMac
    — I recently ordered the upgrade from CS5 to CS5.5 just to have a free path from CS5.5 to CS6 (but I never installed that CS5.5 on my system)
    — Now, with the CS6 installer on my hand, I'm ready to update to CS6, directly from CS5.
First question, just to be sure: this updater will REMOVE the previous CS5 version, converting it to CS6?
Second question (since I'm almost sure that the updater will “add” a new version, CS6, maintaining the previous CS5): it's secure to preserve that old CS5 version side by side to the new CS6 on the same computer?
(I ask this, in prevision, because I plan to maintain CS5 and CS6 for some time, just to have a “lifeguard” in the case that I could suffer some stability problem with the recent launched version).
    Thanks for your support :-)

Thanks for your quick answer, Manish.
Hmmm, that sentence “…you may face issue while installing hence have a look on that…” sounds a bit disturbing, to be sincere :-/
You mean, maybe, that it would be better and safer to delete CS5 before installing CS6, in order to avoid possible installation problems?
I'm sorry if I seem too afraid, but I would prefer to make a clean and peaceful transition, since I am in the middle of some projects…
Thanks again for your advices :-)

I have Photoshop CS5 Extended and it says updates available but when i download the updates it says updates failed please try again later, i have tried a few times and get the same message any help would be great i am running 64bit on windows 8.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit ultimate and have the same problem.  My hard drive crashed, installed a new one and then reinstalled CS5 extended.  Installation went fine, but can no longer open my camera RAW files from Photoshop (camera is a Canon EOS T2i.  The message also tells me I am not eligible for the update.  I am... and I cannot open my files and I could before.  I can find nowhere to contact Adobe to tell me how to proceed.  My daughter is all a registered user of the same product and she had no problems upgrading... we purchased ours each at the same time. I do know the difference is that I had to reinstall and she did not.  If that means anything.

  • I have a production mobile Flex app that uses RemoteObject calls for all data access, and it's working well, except for a new remote call I just added that only fails when running with a release build.  The same call works fine when running on the device

I have a production mobile Flex app that uses RemoteObject calls for all data access, and it's working well, except for a new remote call I just added that only fails when running with a release build. The same call works fine when running on the device (iPhone) using debug build. When running with a release build, the result handler is never called (nor is the fault handler called). Viewing the BlazeDS logs in debug mode, the call is received and send back with data. I've narrowed it down to what seems to be a data size issue.
I have targeted one specific data call that returns in the String value a string length of 44kb, which fails in the release build (result or fault handler never called), but the result handler is called as expected in debug build. When I do not populate the String value (in server side Java code) on the object (just set it empty string), the result handler is then called, and the object is returned (release build).
The custom object being returned in the call is a very a simple object, with getters/setters for simple types boolean, int, String, and one org.23c.dom.Document type. This same object type is used on other other RemoteObject calls (different data) and works fine (release and debug builds). I originally was returning as a Document, but, just to make sure this wasn't the problem, changed the value to be returned to a String, just to rule out XML/Dom issues in serialization.
I don't understand 1) why the release build vs. debug build behavior is different for a RemoteObject call, 2) why the calls work in debug build when sending over a somewhat large (but, not unreasonable) amount of data in a String object, but not in release build.
I have't tried to find out exactly where the failure point in size is, but, not sure that's even relevant, since 44kb isn't an unreasonable size to expect.
By turning on the Debug mode in BlazeDS, I can see the object and it's attributes being serialized and everything looks good there. The calls are received and processed appropriately in BlazeDS for both debug and release build testing.
Anyone have an idea on other things to try to debug/resolve this?
Platform testing is BlazeDS 4, Flashbuilder 4.7, Websphere 8 server, iPhone (iOS 7.1.2). Tried using multiple Flex SDK's 4.12 to the latest 4.13, with no change in behavior.
    Thanks!

After a week's worth of debugging, I found the issue.
The Java type returned from the call was defined as ArrayList.  Changing it to List resolved the problem.
I'm not sure why ArrayList isn't a valid return type, I've been looking at the Adobe docs, and still can't see why this isn't valid.  And, why it works in Debug mode and not in Release build is even stranger.  Maybe someone can shed some light on the logic here to me.

  • Can I run Photoshop CS4 and CS5 on the same system?

I read somewhere a zillion years ago (right?) that you coould run CS4 and CS5 on the same system but at the time I wasn't even considering it.
Run on the same system - not ness to run at the same time
Or should I install it on a seperate drive (bootable) and go that route. What has everyone found to work and/or not work?
Thanks in advance for your help
    BJ

Yes, you can run CS4 an CS5 on the same computer.  They install in different folders and don't get in each other's way.  As a matter of fact, you will find many posts in this forum from the experts recommending to keep CS4 (or an earlier version) when installing CS5.  This way, there is no danger of losing any older plug-ins you may have that aren't compatible to CS5.
When I installed PS CS5 I had problems with my scanner driver.  Instead of spending loads of time fixing that problem, I just use PS CS4 when I want to spend an afternoon scanning things. I'm not recommending that "lazy man's" solution, but it is an example of how CS4 and CS5 can be used on the same system.
