Running PSE12 on a Mac using Mavericks (10.9.4)

Hi we have been currently running PSE12 on a Mac running Mavericks (10.9.4)
When creating contact sheets were are constantly having to remove a SE12 contact sheet prefs file hidden in Library>Preferences>Adobe> Plugins folder
log out/in in order to get the software working again, we've also tried deleting the more obvious prefs
username>library>preferences?

We have had this problem for over 5 months and cannot find a definitive solution, we've tried updates but cannot seem to speak with someone at Adobe about this,if someone out there can help that would

Not sure there is a solution apart from your own work-around. I think CSII was originally designed for Adobe Bridge. The nature of plug-ins is that they can sometimes be unpredictable, especially as technology progresses. For example there are two versions of full Photoshop in the Creative Cloud:
Photoshop CC (for running with old plug-in’s)
Photoshop CC 2014 (for running with modern plug-in’s and GPU features)
But do let us know if you find anything better to your helpful work-around.

How do I save as pdf in Mozilla version 28 on Mac using Mavericks OS.

When I select File, Print, I usually have the option of "printing to a pdf" or "saving as a pdf". I'm using the Mavericks OS on a mac. Previously this option was available in the print screen before reinstalling Firefox. I have looked in the printer pull down menu as well as expanded the details tab. I can't figure out how to save a page as a pdf using the print menu. If I try another method to save a web page from the File, Save Page As, there is no option for a pdf file extension. Any help?

I'm not sure what happened but you can use the following add-on to save any webpage as a PDF with just one click! All you have to do is press the button on your toolbar and there! It saves the web page as a PDF.

Unable to print from a Mac using Maverick 10.9.2 on an Epson Photo printer with Photoshop CS4. Can you help?

I am trying to print in Photoshop CS4 on an Epson Photo printer (3880) from my Mac. I just upgraded to Maverick 10.9.2 when the problem started. Can you help.

I have the answer. It took quite a while but I know why the 3880 won't print from Photoshop 4 with Maverick. It is due to the Epson .icc page description files. The way to solve the problem is to make your own .icc. OK, so you don't know how to do it. This is what I did so now I get the quality prints I expect from an expensive printer.
You need to go to www.datacolor.com/spyderprint and purchase the Spyderprint hardware and software. It comes as a package for $300 to $350 depending on if you get a sale. The software will print on the 3880 test sheets of color blocks. With the hardware reader you then read the colors on the test sheets printed. What this does is match the monitor image with the printer, ink and paper you used. It makes an .icc page description file for you to select instead of the Epson .icc file. When you print again select the new .icc file and also choose "Printer Manages Colors" instead of "Photoshop Manages Colors" I know this is usual but it works. When you are done you will be smiling too with your beautiful results.
One other thing. If you want, it is optional, also purchase the Spider 4 Pro for $150. It calibrates your monitor and helps make excellent prints.
I understand it is more money and you already probably have a good computer, expensive camera to go with the 3880 so spend the extra money so it all works together.

I can't run AfterEffects CS6 or CC using Mavericks HELP!

i have updated all the software and uninstalled and re-installed but when i try to open either version i get this message:
You can't use this version of the application "Adobe After Effects CS6" with this verson of OS X.

You have "Adobe After Effects CC" 12.0
all other CS6 and CC launch fine, though Premiere is unstable.

I just tried to update (using Bridge CC) but I get a message that says:
Bridge is unable to check for updates.
The most likely causes for this failure are an inability to connect to the internet or being logged in as a non-administrative user.
I am connected to the internet and I am properly logged in.

Mac slow mavericks kernal_tasks

I downloaded Mavericks when it first came out and it was no problem. Within the last week or so, my mac has become EXTREMELY slow.
Solutions I have tried:
-Resetting the PRAM/NVRAM
-Resetting the SMC
-Backing up data with time machine and reinstalling Mavericks
Even while running a single chrome web page, I check the Activity Monitor and Kernal_Tasks is using anywhere from 76% to 1,000% cpu usage.

Yes.
The most critical step is to ensure you have adequate backups of your essential files and software. Time Machine is one option, but it's an even better idea to create two separate backups using two separate devices, such as two USB drives. If you "clone" your existing system you can use Startup Manager to boot from the "clone", ensure all your essential files are intact.
Create a backup of your existing system, and verify that it is complete. To do that read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac.
Preferably, create two or more backups using different methods, such as one Time Machine and one "clone", for redundancy. Neither method is particularly advantageous over the other for this purpose.
The recovery procedure will require that you erase the Mac using OS X Recovery, and then create a new user whose contents will be empty. You will then be able to use Setup Assistant to migrate your essential documents including photos, music, work products and other essential files from the Time Machine or similar backup.
When doing so, select only your previous User account and do not select "Applications", "Computer and Network Settings" or "Other files and folders". De-select those choices.
Subsequent to using Setup Assistant, you will need to reinstall the essential software you may require, once again remembering to install software only from their original sources, and omitting all non-essential software.

Some have found relief just by reinstalling, but it is more than likely incompatible third-party applications that slow it down.
You will have to investigate to see what it is.
Open Activity Monitor and see if anything is using a lot of CPU% or Memory. If they are, check to see if there is an update for them.
Another place to look is the Console. See if anything is logging repeating messages with throttling and/or respawn in the All Messages list.
Sometimes it is not that easy to root out the problems, but if you have anything that purported to clean, protect, optimize, maintain, or flush your system, then that is likely the cause.

CS6 compatibility with older macs (2007-2008), using Mavericks 10.9

I've heard about compatibility issues with older macs (2007-2008) when trying to run Adobe Creative Suite 6 Master Collection CS6 with Mavericks 10.9. Right now I'm using CS6 on my existing mid-2007, with Mountain Lion, -works great, and I'm worried if I upgrade to Mavericks there may be problems (based on FAQs)

Phil, Why do you think that it is Safari?
Are you running any #3rd party applications as well?
If a proprietary (Apple) application "locks up"... it should not bring down the whole system; rather, one should be able to force quit the application that only appears to be hanging the entire system (press option, command & esc keys for the "Force Quit" application menu).
After a force quit of a proprietary application, it then should open right back up without a reboot. The system should not hang. For example, if Safari does "hang" w/a spinning beachball & you force quit that & then fire it up again -- as opposed to a machine that completely "locks up" as you say... that term is usually reserved for when absolutely everything is frozen which calls for the radical power-button force shutdown.

Same proble here, although the Firefox system requirements says it is OK to have PowerPC G3 G4 or G5 ( I have G5 2GHZ)

Also, some usrs have found that logging out of the Mac App Store and then back in again and starting over has kick-started the download. It seems that the 5+gb download can take a long time to give any feedback as to what's happening.

No idea if Windows will do it, but you can run Windows without Bootcamp & have OSX available at the same time, which should give you all the Monitors that OSX uses.

To resize the drive do the following:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed. (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss. Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
