Running queries in the background and save in a folder

Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to schedule a query in the background and save the output in a folder as a new excel file. How can I do that? Does any one have any ideas or thoughts? I appreciate your help with reward. Thanks,

Firexfox doesn't shuts even if i close the window; it keeps running silently in the background and takes a huge CPU and compells me to close the program from task manager.

why do i have to close firefox from the task manager. closing the firefox window doesn't stop the program from running.

Very few apps run in the background - mainly music playing apps and GPS apps. Double-clicking the Home button gives you a list of previously used apps, not (as so many people believe) "running" apps. You can delete the apps from the list if you wish, but it will make no difference to energy usage (unless they actually are running, as in the categories above. You should know if you are using GPS or if you can hear music).

After closing large documents (drawings) the window closes but the process runs still in the background. I open the next document, the same procedure and after dowing this several times the RAM is full the system becoms very slow. what can i do???

You can always shut it down manually via the Task Manager

Has nothing to do with the SIM or master reset. This has been done to my phone. The SIM once and the factory reset many times over. You all just sold us a bad piece of equipment and have us by the tail with our contracts so none of us can get a new phone without paying full price or re-upping our contract. I just got off the phone last night with your high up tech people (you know, the hidden number we get once we tear into your support people enough), they went into my phone again and still didn't find anything wrong. I about got fired from my job for not getting my calls and texts. The BBB has now been contacted, and I feel your end should shore this up for all of us!

Running AppleScript in the background

Okay, yet another problem I'm having that I'm going to bug the community here with.
Is it at all possible to run AppleScript while doing other things? For example, if I wanted my AppleScript to hop online every hour and send me back information from my site could I have it do this while I do other things? Or will I have to wait until it's completed?
Say I wanted to create a script that hopped on my site and sent me the post number of the last post, could I have it do this while I do other things?
Something like

I've tried doing it like this and it definitely doesn't work at all if I don't have the Safari window selected at all times, so is there any way in which I can run script in the background while I work on other things or does AppleScript require full control of my computer while it's working?

Running ME2M in the background - display variant

I try to run ME2M (purchasing report) in the background and receive the result with specific display variant.
Does anybody know how I can tell the system to show the results with specific fields, not all of them ?

Enter T.code ME2M>Select Menu GOTO/Variants/Save as variant in menu bar>get into VARIANT ATTRIBUTES Screen.
>Enter variant name (user defined)>Enter user defined text in meaning field>Select check box as reqiured like background processing etc.>now select whichever fields you want to hide,display or other options by checking in check box on object for selection screen --->finally Save.
After creating variant, you can get it through Variant icon (Shift+F5).

Is there anyway I can run OC4J in the background as an NT service?

I took the approach above, and my experience was only partially successful. With some scrounging around newsgroups, orionsupport.com, and Sun's website, I came up with the following solution:
Creating an NT Service for OC4J
OC4J by default runs as a command shell application, so it is bound to a user's login session and will die if the user who called the start command logs off of the system. Oracle has not provided a version of OC4J that runs as a service on Windows-based servers, so here is a process to create a service using the freeware utility, RunExeSvc (http://www.winwinsoft.com/goodies/RunExeSvc/index.html). This utility is more user-friendly and flexible than tools such as srvany.exe and instsrv.exe in the NT Resource Kit.
Dependencies
1. RunExeSvc is installed
(Unzip the runexesvc.zip file to a directory)
2. Sun's JDK 1.3.1 is installed.
(JDK 1.3.1 is required because a bug in prior versions of Sun's JVM for Windows killed any JVMs initiated by a user in that login session.)
Installation Procedure
1. Run the RunExeSvcAdmin.exe application
2. Create a new service by copying the example script below into the Script window of RunExeSvcAdmin.exe. Some changes to drives and/or paths may of course be needed.
3. Save the new entry and exit the application.
4. The service should now appear in the services control panel. Changes may be required for its startup options.

I would like to create a queue and pass it's handle to a subvi that runs in the background. I see several examples of running a vi in the background using the vi server, but I could not find any examples of running in the background and passing startup arguments.

you can do following: Create your subVI with the needet connectors (queue
and startup parameters perhaps) and insert a loop, which ends when the queue
is destroyed. Insert shift registers an initialize them with you start
parameters. During execution update the shift registers with the new values.
Now create the main VI and place a create queue. Wire the outgoing queue
reference to the subVI and a new loop.
So your subVI starts running and the loop is executing parallel. To stop the
program just destroy the queue inside the main loop and your subVI will also
stop.

Is it better for your battery if you let it run down all the way and then charge it? Or to charge it whenever you have the opportunity? Which is better for the life of the battery?

I've had a iPhone 4s since March 2012, and it's battery is pretty useless now. I was using the app Battery Doctor (Battery Saver, Battery Life) by Beijing Kingsoft Internet Security software, which encourages the user to charge more often, whenever battery life drops below 100% full and greater than 20% full, and gives ratings according to the number of full, partial & overcharges done, but I'm concerned that charging like that actually results in worse battery life??
I now have an new iPhone 5 and don't want the battery to only last as short as the last one did

How to run long running report in the background

Oracle Application server 10g
I need to run the long running reports in the background because while the report is running the cursor is loading and the control doesn't return to the user
this feature exist in oracle 6i by set the following parameter

I've done this in 11g. I think it will be the same in 10g as well
Following are the steps in 11g using run_report_object.
1. Read metalink note: Using the Reports Server Queue PL/SQL Table and API - RW_SERVER_JOB_QUEUE [ID 72531.1]
2. Implement RW_SERVER_JOB_QUEUE table as per above notes.
3. When submitting report run it as background
a. SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(lo_report_object, REPORT_EXECUTION_MODE, ASYNCHRONOUS); -
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(lo_report_object, REPORT_COMM_MODE , BATCH);
4. Display the job_id to user (notification).
5. Create a new form to view reports base on on RW_SERVER_JOB_QUEUE which provides you the status, etc.... (you may have to create a way to identify the username who submitted the job. This way not all users will see the jobs in RW_SERVER_JOB_QUEUE )
6. Optionally you can use NOTIFYSUCCESS=email to notify user when the report is finished.

Can i run windows in the background?

hi there
i have recently purchased a macbook pro 13" and i know that it is possible to split the hard disk to be able to install windows OS, but i was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to leave windows running in the background and switch back to OSX?
the reason i want to try and do this is because i have a USB device for my fish tank that monitors several peramitors and uploads them to an online account so i can see what is going on in my fish tank, however it needs a local piece of software for it to be able to do this and at the minute this is only available for windows hence my question, im hoping i can get around it by spliting my mac in this way but it needs to be able to run in the background as a parralel system.
any help would be great.

You can buy Virtual Machine apps such as VMware Fusion and Parallels Desktop for Mac and these will let you run Windows as a Virtual Machine (on top of Mac OS X). You can then run Windows programs as well as Mac ones.
