Running reports on different NLS_LANG. Need you expertise...Very Urgent.

I'm a systems developer here in Malaysia, and currently we've migrated the application from Oracle 6i to Oracle 11g.
Right now were still in development stage and by next week our testing team will start the test before UAT.
Our application will be use by 5 different countries in southeast asia. The application will be running on single server,
and 5 countries will be accessing the application via web browser. We have 3 countries that have different language and information
will be display using their own script or language like Chinese characters.
The team already resolve the issue how to display this Chinese character in Oracle Forms if the country is using Chinese character,
or use English if Malaysia is accessing the application. Now, my problem is how to display these Chinese characters in Oracle Reports?
I already set the necessary environment variables for report. like Default Character Set, created environmentID for each country, set
the defaultEnvID, but things doesn't work. Chinese character will be display if i directly change the NLS_LANG of the server at the REGISTRY level,
this approach is not acceptable, how about the Korean characters?
We already followed the documentation how to implement this NLS_LANG on the report, but still doesn't work.
Is anyone here have the experienced changing the NLS_LANG of reports during runtime?

Report Writer - '-ve' for a particular column - VERY URGENT

I have developed a report painter report which has 4 columns. Out of 4 columns, I have 2 columns which are based on formulae. Irrespective of the result, I need to display these 2 column values either "+ve" or "-ve".
Can anybody pls help me out in this regards.

Here is the sample output of my report painter report.

If you see the output for 3rd and 4th columns, some values are +ve and some values are -ve. But i want output as follows:

> use of IDocs to process vendor and employee payments. Both bank transfers and checks will be processed through interface.
Now, What is the t-code to get report for payments for different customer, comp codes and vendor?
I am new to SAP in testing.

Running report 9i on Oracle 7.3.3 database URGENT

I have a report with a character field and is supposed to display value with leading zeroes. Eg 0002.
The zeroes are displayed when this report is executed against a 9i database. But when I run this report with oracle 7.3.3 database then the zeroes are truncated.
I need to currently use this report with 7.3.3 version and then once the data is migrtaed to 9i.
Why are the leading zeroes truncated?
please help?

there was no testing performed against 7.3.3. as this database version has been de-supported a long, long time ago.
it is highly unlikely that you will get an answer for this question.

I am using OWB 10g under Oracle 10g. I want to run OWB Mapping automatically by OEM.
I installed Oracle Database 10g fully but don't have OEM in this. After that, I installed Oracle Client 10g. In this product, there is OEM 10g. I read some topic as "want to run owb mappings thru job schedule" and also read http://otn.oracle.com/products/warehouse/htdocs/oem_scheduling_viewlet_swf.html
But my OEM not as same as in this . It don't have job menu and OEM Console Login window and don't have also where I can put username/pwd to login into OMS???
I don't know this problem.

Here are two possible solutions:
1) If you have OEM 9i anywhere in your environment you can use this for scheduling the OWB jobs.
2) If your environment is 10g only you need to install 10g Grid Controll. This product has replaced the OMS / Java console of earlier releases, and contains the same functionality for scheduling jobs.
Note that if you are using the sql_exec_template to execute your mappings you can schedule and run these from any machine on the network, not just the target server.

I want to run multiple instance of tomcat on same server. I have created CATALINA_BASE directory and i put conf,logs,temp,webapps, and work directory. I have configured server.xml in different port. I have set the environment variables too. Though it didn't workout for me. Is there anything else i have to do for that. if so, Please assist me.
I did all according to the tomcat 4.1running.txt

thanks for replying, but i tried this option too, it did not work for me, neither isnull nor coalesce. I mean, the solution work for single value but when i pass multiple values then separated by a comma then it doesn't work and shows me an error like "Incorrect Syntax ','". I am using SQL server as DB and bip is 10.1.3.4.1
also please share the SR number, so i can also check the same.
can there be any other work around to this?

Report Servers with different NLS_LANGs

Is it possible to have one (default) in-process report server set to one NLS_LANG and another added in-process report server set to a different NLS_LANG? If so, what config needs to be set to accomplish it?

Why do you want to use the inline server? Better would be to create a Report Server for each language (I think). Just set the NLS_LANG before starting each Report Server.
In most cases it's always good to create an own dedicated Report Server instead of using the inline server. It doesn't cost more resources if that's your worry!
Also worth investigating Franks hint (above). I too have heard of it, although never tested it.

Run Report from PL/SQL with branch to different page

I have an application in which, at various points, I run a PL/SQL procedure to perform an action, and then need to run a report while also navigating away from the current page. The actions are executed on a button click.
I have tried various method, but for the life of me cannot get the system to do both things (ie. run the report and branch to another page). I have tried putting in a branch to page 0 (to execute after processing on the button click), with a request line to print the report, followed by a branch to the other page (also to execute after processing on the button click) - and only the branch to page 0 actually executes. Also tried putting a branch to the other page only, with the print request in the Request parameter - but only runs the report, does not branch to the other page.
I have also tried to put the call to run the report into the PL/SQL code, using utl_http.start_request(url), but that came up with a "Bad Request" error. Also tried using the owa_util.redirect_url call, but also no luck.
I am pulling my hair out at the moment, mainly because I am under pressure to deliver the system in very short time.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can run Report queries from their URL ( f?p=&APP_ID.:0:&SESSION.:PRINT_REPORT=<REPORT NAME>)
So an approach would be to
On Button click, call a JS function that
<li>1. uses Ondemand/Callback process to do the workflow processing(check box selection records)
<li>2. opens the Report as a popup window(from your IR page)
<li>3. Redirect away from the IR page to another page?
Another approach:
<li>1. IR report submits the page
<li>2. In the PLSQL block you do the processing
<li>3. The branch redirects to a URL which would point to the Report URL.
OR
<li>3. Have an onload JS which runs only when the request was the BUTTON request and that opens up a page which points to the report.
Yet another way would be to use htp.p within the PLSQL block that does the workflow processing
So your PLSQL code would be

Error when running reports: "File Server needs to be re-initialized"

Hi.
This error "File Server needs to be re-initialized" appears when our users try to run reports on 11.5.10. EBS.
There is also a message box that appears and reads:
"A error occurred while attempting to establish a conection to Application File Server. There may be a network configuration problem, or the TNS listener may not be running."
This is a problem in our test environment. We recently ran autoconfig on the test side.
I have checked Metalink and also wider google search.
Perhaps we have an issue with the tnsnames files? Well, I verified this and the tnsnames in production and test, and they are the same.
Perhaps a listener.ora file issue?
"The issue is caused by the variables APPLFSTT and APPLFSWD is not being set properly in the <8.0.6_ORACLE_HOME> listener.ora file. " (Note 263654.1)

I have made a copy of our listener in TEst, so I can edit the existing one. Trouble is, not sure if I even should try to edit it!

Yes thanks for that. Metalink has informed me to do the same, basically.
But I am in the middle of a cloning, so I will finish that then run autoconfig once again.
I already ran Autoconfig on both source and target, so will do again once this process is over.
