Running SSH command after auth

To save some time, I know about sshrc...
What I am trying to do is run a script (or file or whatever) after a user is authenticated... This is extremely simple with the use of sshrc, but my users are going to be connecting with the -N argument:
-N Do not execute a remote command. This is useful for just forwarding ports (protocol version 2 only).
When users are connecting with that, my script does not run...
Is there an alternate way to run a script?
By the way... The reason I'm doing this is because I am running a SOCKS server and the users are set to /bin/false.

Well I am trying to run a script after ssh authentication when the client is connecting with the -N flag....
I am hosting a socks proxy server, and I want to prevent simultaneous logins with the same user. The proxy users all have the shell set to /bin/false and their default group set to 'proxy '.
Basically, what I want to do is to disconnect both connections when I detect simultaneous logins...

I have a situation that has not solved yet. I am running ssh command from unix terminal without any problem, and then i enter password.
For example :
[oracle@fuata]:/export/home/oracle> ssh -N [email protected] -L 9901:127.0.0.1:9999

It is working. I have question that how can i perform this in java? I am thinking that i can run ssh command by using Runtime Class, it is ok. But how can i answer the password? I am a bit confused. Is there any example looks like this?

Total nube to jws, need to run ssh command via web or jws?

Ok So we had a developer that created this application that can basically run ssh commands via jws I believe. Unfortunately he is no longer here. I am wondering how you do this? I know tha commands that are already set up, but I have no idea how to implement it into my project.

basically you'd need a small webstart client to wrap something like the above library. Best thing is to try with a standalone java client first. Once that is working have a look at turning it into a webstart app.

Running ssh command in a java application

Hi there!
I am trying to run a ssh command from a java application cause I need to store the result.
Actually I can run this command in the cygwin shell so I need to open the shell and run the command, all trough java.
so, what my process needs to do is:
1) open the cmd
2) run C:\cygwin\cygwin.bat
3) execute the ssh command
ssh -l fip-user ipdb fip 42704) print the result of the ssh command.
Note that the cygwin opens in the same command line window and so will print it's result to the same process inputstream

Use "Runtime.getRuntime().exec()" to execute the SSH program,
and you can then get the output of the SSH program
via the getInputStream() method on the returned Process object.
Note: there are many pitfalls with this. In particular, most people don't know
they should create separate threads to drain the input/output pipes.

Unfortunetly, I don't know how to script in a password for ssh. SSH closes the stdin and re-opens the tty that you are logged in at. This is actually a security feature. As well as a way to send stdin to remote programs (otherwise your password would get in the way.)
If you don't need to ssh to a remote host, and you want to chmod something on the localhost, you could use sudo instead. With sudo you can specify certain users (or all users) to run certain commands. (so you could make a shell script to chmod for you).
I don't know your exact needs, but I think that a public/private keypair could still work. In your authorized keys file on your "root" account, you can even specify that "this public key does not get shell access, and can only execu
te this one command." This would probably be the most secure method. But it requires the user to have the correct private key as well.
If you know that won't work for some reason, then maybe you could setup a inetd process that will execute a command whenever someone connects to a certain port (then you could use LabVIEW's TCP VIs).
Or, if you are not connecting remotely, you could setuid your LabVIEW executable (A VERY BAD IDEA!).
Also, it is possible to script "telnet." It would of course transmit your root password as plaintext, but trying to script your ssh session would also embed your password in your LabVIEW VI. Out internet toolkit for LabVIEW has some helpful telnet VIs.
May I ask why you want to chmod something on a remote system that requires root? Sounds like maybe you should create a LabVIEW application on the remote side that acts as a daemon (running as root) and accepts connections and commands and does the chmodding for you.

Unable to run UNIX command after uploading file using webutil_file_transfer

OS: UNIX Solaries , Oracle Application Server 10g
I designed a form contains 2 buttons
1- Upload button: to let the user upload form.fmb file to the application server using webutil_file_transfer function
2- Compile button to compile the uploaded form in the applications server to generete the FMX using the following command

Add the weblogic server's bin directory to your PATH. You will need to a couple of WLS jars to the CLASSPATH. There might be something in the installation/setup documentation that tells you all this. I have only used WLS 5.1 and 7.0.

FTP - Run OS Command before file processing

Hi,
I have a requirement wherein I need to FTP a file from XI to a folder in a FTP server . Now FTP Server is set up in such a way that I cannot put the file directly. Before transferring the file , I have to use CD ( change directory command ) to access a particular folder and then transfer the file. This means that I cannot give the folder information directly to TARGET DIRECTORY.
To address this, I decided to use the feature "Run OS Command BEFORE file processing " . And wrote a command 'cd <foldername> .It is not working. Then I tried using "Run OS Command AFTER file processing " and it also didnot work.
Does anyone have any clue how can I address this requirement using FILE Adapter.

HI,
OS commands will be executed in XI server not in the FTP server. So first you need to connect into FTP server and then you need execute CD command.
option 1) Get the absolute path ie direct path from FTP server so that you can directly connect to FTP server's specific directoty
22) In this case , write the file into your XI server itself by NFS File Transport protocol. Then ftp this file from your XI server into FTP server using Shell Script.
So write a shell script which will be executed in the XI server, inside this write a logic of tranfer of files with FTP protocol. This shell script is executed from the Reciever File adapter with the option OS command.

It should be possible, actually we have two options that are
1.RUN OS command before message processing
2.RUN OS command after message processing.
So you can give the commands in the RUN OS command after message processing.

I want to call the file at run time after message processing via Command Line and execute some os commands.
But since the file name is Dynamic....How will i call the file at run time in Command Line:
SYNTAX: %f(FileName)
How will i specify the file name in the above syntax as the file name is Dynamic and not constatnt.

Local Director reloading after running show commands

I have a pair of 420's running 4.2.5 & I am experiencing when being in the LD & running show commands the Active will reload & the secondary takes over. Has anybody experienced this problem?

Are you sure that the reload happens when a show command is typed? Have you seen any other messages? I am asking this because I have not heard of a reload with a show command. It could also be possible that some other procesor/memory intensive task is running and the show command was entered at the same time. You could check for bugs and upgrade if necessary.

if we execute this directly using PuTTY
we can do the following with no problem
su - oracle

but when we execute the stored procedure,
we have to do
*/usr/bin/ssh* user1@localhost '/home/user1/someprogram'
does anybody where to set the path or environment to make the java know the path correctly.

Process.Start - getting different output when running command using this method than I am if I run same command in CMD prompt

Creating an application to analyze .dmp files - all working well except this odd issue
If I open command prompt and enter this command:-
kd -z C:\Windows\MiniDump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze -v"
Then it works and shows me all the output I need (shown at bottom of post)
If I run same command in VB.net using following code - then it doesn't give the same output - the bits I need at the end created by the !analyze -v switch don't appear
Any ideas why it is not seeing the switch correctly - setting a breakpoint and checking contents of startinfo seems to be showing correct cmd line i.e. "kd -z C:\windows\minidump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze –v;q""

Try it by opening the Cmd prompt as the actual process and passing the Filename and its arguments as the arguments of the Cmd process. If you notice there is a "-C" before the Filename and Arguments in this example. The "-C"
tells the cmd to execute the commands and then close itself. You can also use a "-K" which tells the cmd to execute the commands and keep itself open. Being you are not showing the cmd window you don`t want to keep it opened because the
user can`t close it so, that is why i used "-C".
I don`t have the program so, you can just experiment to see what it does. Maybe you should try using "-K" and show the cmd window by commenting out the CreateNoWindow line so you can see what is in the cmd window while testing.

Things You Can Do To Resolve Slow Downs
If your computer seems to be running slower here are some things you can do:

Boot into Safe Mode then repair your hard drive and permissions:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions Pre-Lion
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.

Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilites Menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD disk icon and click on the arrow button below.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then click on the Repair Permissions button. Restart your computer normally and see if this has helped any. Next do some maintenance:
For situations Disk Utility cannot handle the best third-party utility is Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible.
Note: Alsoft ships DW on a bootable DVD that will startup Macs running Snow Leopard or earlier. It cannot start Macs that came with Lion or later pre-installed, however, DW will work on those models.
Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or later and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive.

If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using VirusBarrier Express 1.1.6 or Dr.Web Light both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from the App Store, they won't destabilize the system. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.)
Troubleshooting Applications
I recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX, Mavericks Cache Cleaner, or Cocktail that you can use for removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc. Corrupted cache, log, or temporary files can cause application or OS X crashes as well as kernel panics.
If you have Snow Leopard or Leopard, then for similar repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. Applejack does not work with Lion and later.
Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
 used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine
 requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the
 drive being backed up.
Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
1. Carbon Copy Cloner
2. Get Backup
3. Deja Vu
4. SuperDuper!
5. Synk Pro
6. Tri-Backup

Additional Hints
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space.
Add more RAM. If your computer has less than 2 GBs of RAM and you are using OS X Leopard or later, then you can do with more RAM. Snow Leopard and Lion work much better with 4 GBs of RAM than their system minimums. The more concurrent applications you tend to use the more RAM you should have.
Always maintain at least 15 GBs or 10% of your hard drive's capacity as free space, whichever is greater. OS X is frequently accessing your hard drive, so providing adequate free space will keep things from slowing down.
Check for applications that may be hogging the CPU:
Pre-Mavericks
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu. Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order. If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar. Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process. See if that helps. Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
Mavericks and later
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select All Processes from the View menu. Click on the CPU tab in the toolbar. Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order. Often this problem occurs because of a corrupted cache or preferences file or an attempt to write to a corrupted log file.

AMD GPU fan runs constantly even after disabling DGPU

I have a HP-Pavilion dv6 6121TX, with AMD 6770m gpu.
The fan of the gpu runs constantly even after disabling it using the following command
echo OFF > /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch
the output for "cat /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch" is as follows
0:DIS: :Off:0000:01:00.0
1:IGD:+:Pwr:0000:00:02.0
It shows that the DGPU is off and yet the fan for the same runs continuously at full speed.

You might also try a different battery if you have access to one. Unfortunately, many of the replacement batteries being shipped by Apple are defective. They don't fit properly into the battery bay. I suspect that if the quality control is this poor, then it seems likely that other problems will arrise as well. Check carefully that the battery itself is not overheating. Another possibility which also happened to me is that after installing the last upgrade to the operating system, one or more of the third party widgets became problematic, causing the same problem you describe. After removing all third party widgets, the problem stopped. Good Luck
