Running statspack report remotely from a client?
Hi!
To get a statspack report I run @spreport.sql from an SQL*Plus session on the database server.
Having to go to the DB server for that sometimes is a chore and I would prefer to get a report from any client, or even from within SQL Developer.
Is there an easy way to achive this or is there a tool for that?
Obviously, the spreport.sql might differ from Oracle DB version to version, so I would either need to have a series of these reports scripts on the client and the select the right one or I would need to have some mechanisum (stored proc?) that gets to rdbms/admin on the server, executed the spreport.sql script there, read the output and return that from to the client.
Is there an easier way or anyone knows of a package that will do that?
Thanks,
Marcus
Marcus,
I don't think that I did get your question. Sorry but do you mean to say that you want a report from the client terminal , running locally over teh client only? That's what I got from this line,
Having to go to the DB server for that sometimes is a chore and I would prefer to get a report from any client, or even from within SQL Developer. Or do you want the report to be available from the server side to the client's local machine?
If you want the report to be given to you on the client side only, I am not sure that there is any way possibly there. What's the issue in fetching the report from the server though ? If one can connect to db as a valid db and o/s user, he can fetch the data as well. But its just a thought. I don't use any of the tools much so I guess, I shall just join you and see what others have to say about it.

Run SBO report directly from SDK
Hi, is there a way to run an SBO report (for example Service Contracts) directly from SDK? The report should be given the necessary parameters too.
I know that i can call Service Contracts form, simulate a query to find the appropriate record and then simulate a click on print preview button. This way it will undoubtedly work.
But I would prefer opening the print preview directly, without the need of opening another form, that slows down the whole process. Is there a way to do this?Tamas,
There is currently not an object via the SDK to directly run a report. You would have to use the work around that you mentioned.

Run nVision report synchronously from with FieldChange
In PeopleCode you can run an AE or COBOL program synchronously using remote call functions.
Anyone know how to do this with an nVision report? I'd like to run an nVision report immediately in FieldChange but WAIT until output is ready. I also DON'T want to schedule it to batch as this takes too long.
Thanks
GrahamYou could use CreateProcessRequest and then run it to the REN server. Is this what your looking for?

Running a report from a pl/sql procedure
I'm trying to execute a report from a oracle procedure using UTL_HTTP.request and I keep getting a 'User-Defined Exception' error. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong or have any other suggestions what might be wrong? Using Reports6i and Oracle 8.1.7. When I run the report directly from the browser to the printer it runs perfectly.
create or replace procedure p_test
v_ret varchar2(4000);
v_url varchar2(2000);
begin
v_url:= 'http://webserver:80/dev60cgi/rwcgi60?server=Rep-server-name+report=C:/report_loation.RDF+DESTYPE=printer+Desname=printer_name+userid=userid/password@db';
v_ret := UTL_HTTP.request(v_url);
end p_test;Cheryl, try replacing the ":" in your URL with the "escaped" version of the colon character instead: "%3a". (Thus your URL would read
"...report=C%3a/report_location...".) Also, be sure that any other spaces in the URL are passed as either "+" or "%20".
UTL_HTTP.request is much more sensitive to reserved characters on the URL than most browsers are (especially IE).

Run Crystal Report from URL includes username and password
Hello,
I've downloaded CR 2008, and CR Server 2008 demo's.
I'm trying to use a feature I've used with CR10 enterprise, and XI report server, where I can run a report direct from the URL.
Something like:
or
http://192.168.72.98/businessobjects/enterprise115/infoview/main.aspx?id=1024&init=actx&apssystem=hobprim&apsuser=visy&apspassword=Fillers3&apsauthtype=secenterprise
I've noticed that there were subtle syntax differences between CR10 Enterprise and XI report server in the past, and expect that similar differences exist with CR server 2008.
Could someone show me the syntax for CR Server 2008 to run a report from a URL, and pass the required username and password, without having to go through the infoview logon screenTim,
Thanks for the reply. I admit I did see that thread when I was looking for a solution.
My hesitance is that for a non programmer it looks very difficult, and a lot of settings.
I liked the URL reporting because of its simplicity - one line.
I know that it advertises the username and password, but for our requirement (intranet reporting, LAN separated from IT), its not a big risk.
My further investigations indicate that for CRS 2008 something like the following should work:
http://192.168.207.156/CrystalReports/view.aspx?id=1102&apsuser=administrator&apspassword=admin1&apsauthtype=secEnterprise&init=java
However I get
404 - File or Directory not found.
I'm running on Windows7 with IIS7, so I think it must be an IIS configuration issue
Any Ideas? -
API to run a crystal report remotely
Hi. I am trying to figure out how to programatically run crystal reports and save the resulting pdfs. Here is my setup:
I have a machine running linux, and another machine running Windows Server with Business Objects on it. (neither machine is one that I administer).
I have some crystal reports stored on the Business Objects server. The reports take parameters. Using Infoview, I can navigate to the reports and run them by typing in parameters and telling it to export to a pdf file, where I type in the filename.
Now I want to automate that.
The parameters I want to pass in are stored in a database. I want to have a cron job on the Linux machine get all the parameters and then trigger the exporting of each of the 1500 reports. A scheduled job on the Business Objects server can then scp the pdf files to the final location (on the Linux server).
Alternatively, I want that cron job to trigger the export of the pdf files, grab the data, and create the files right then without requiring the scp process.
I am terribly confused how to do this. I thought I should use the "Java Reporting Components", JRC, but that doesn't seem to have a provision to connect to a remote Business Objects server. Also, apparently, those libraries are only available on a machine that has Crystal installed, which the Linux server does not.
So, I need a library that I can run on that LInux server, and run those reports remotely.. What API should I be looking at, and how do I get it?
Languages available on the Linux server:
C, C++, Java, PHP, Perl
Thanks.
--RyanHi Tim,
You may:
1) Press F5
2) Go to Report > Refresh Report (Notice the icon beside the label)
3) Go to View > Print Preview
4) Or, click the refresh button on the toolbar
5) The icon on Point#2 is also available on the toolbar

How to set the minimial right to run a report only on SQL express Reporting Services
Hi,
I tried several times on setup a SERVERNAME\USERA from the "Home-Report Manager --> Site Settings --> Security --> New Role Assignment..
I also checked it already have the roles (System Administrator, System User) being assigned
When I try to run the report remotely via
http://ThisISdomainNameURL/Reports_SQLEXPRESS/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=
User 'SERVERNAME\USERA' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed
The permissions granted to user 'SERVERNAME\USERA' are insufficient for performing this operation (rsAccessDenied)Hi kkcci88888,
Based on your description, you are experiencing the problem when login on the Report Server remotely, you got some error about required for permissions, right?
Generally, Reporting Services uses role-based security to grant user access to a report server, and there are two types of roles: Item-level roles and System-level roles. On a new installation, only local administrators have access to a report server. If
the user need to have access to reports, folders, models and shared data sources, we can assign Item-level roles on the root node (the Home folder) or on specific folders or items. In this case, you can check if you have assigned an Item-level role first.
bellow are about how to assign an Item-level role:
Start Internet Explorer together with the Run as administrator option. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, right-click Internet Explorer, and then click Run as administrator.
Open Report Manager. By default, the Report Manager URL is
http://<ServerName>/reports_sqlexpress. If you use a named instance of Reporting Services, the Report Manager URL is
http://<ServerName>/reports_<InstanceName>.
In the Home dialog box, click Properties.
Click New Role Assignment.
Type a Windows user account name by using this format: <Domain>\<User>
Click to select the Role(5 default roles) check box and click OK.
If you already assigned a role for the user, this issue might be caused by the UAC settings, you can find more details in this link:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934164 and you can follow the steps below
to do the right configuration on your remote computer:
Start Windows Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click Security.
Click Trusted Sites and then click Sites.
Under Add this Web site to the zone, type http://<ServerName>. If you are not using HTTPS for the default site, click to clear the Require server certification (https:) for all sites in this zone check box,
Click Add.
Repeat step 4 and step 5 to add the http://localhost URL, and then click Close.
Close Report Manager and Use Internet Explorer without the Run as administrator option to reopen Report Manager.

Checking default printer before running a report
Hi guys,
I'm trying to run a report directly from a form on the Web. However, at form runtime, the only thing known is DESTYPE ('PRINTER') but DESNAME is not. What I would like the form to do first is to check the user's local machine's default printer before running the report, and maybe show a message like: 'Oops, wait a minute dude! Your default printer is 'X', please change your default printer to 'Y' before proceeding.' Or something to that effect. After the change, of course, 'Y' (the name of the printer) gets passed on to DESNAME, and the report printing proceeds from thereon. Well, I think you get the point. Any cool ideas?
nullI can't tell the exact solution.
But just check the Oracle Reports Remote Printing Utility(ORARRP).
U can download this from oracle website.
Using this u can generate o/p to a file and then a double click on that file will display a popup with all the printers accessible for that m/c.
Thx,
Rgs,

Unable to run Oracle Form Builder from Designer 10g
I am using Windows XP with Oracle Designer 9.0.4.5. From Design Editor, I select Run -> Oracle Forms, nothing happen. I am able to open Form Builder manually (C:\ORACLE\904\bin\ifbld90.exe). After I generated a module (form) from Designer, I have to open the FMB manually from Form Builder. In Designer 9i, I am able to open Form Builder from Designer. Is this a bug for Designer 10g?
Thanks,
JimThanks for the response, Suresh,
I believe this is an installation/configuration issue.
I installed Oracle Developer Suite 9.0.4, which includes Form Builder, Report Builder, and Designer. System Path contains the ORACLE_HOME (c:\oracle\904\bin). I am able to start Form Builder from DOS command (ifbld90.exe). I am also able to start Report Builder (rwbuilder.exe) and Designer (des2k61.exe) from DOS. I am able to Run Oracle Report Builder from Designer, but just not Form Builder. I also checked the Windows registry settings and they seem alright to me.
thanks,

How to run ADDM report from client?
Hi,
I want to run ADDM report from the client and get the report in my machine?/
in other words while connecting to sqlplus from my machine if i invoke @?/rdbms/admin/ >> it selects local oracle home..
Any suggestion to set as if run the remote sql's from sqlplus?/
Thanks,
RamanYou can run the individual built-in packages from SQL*Plus from a client.
You can also open a browser session to the OEM Grid Server if you know its fully qualified host name or IP Address on your network.
Be sure, however, that you are licensed to do so. ADDM requires the diagnostic pack license. -

Running Oracle Reports via a client using system.exec call from war file
Hi all,
I am trying to deploy a war file application to a J2EE 10.1.3 application server. The deployment successfully completes. However testing the application fails.
When testing, the application reveals that calling a Oracle Reports 6i client (using a cmd line exec) from the war file returns application errors. The errors we get from executing the call below (using debug statements), creates this error:
OperatingSystemCmd: cmd = D:\Oracle\Dev6i\BIN\rwcli60 MODULE="CLTMLST" USERID="<userid>/<pwd>@<db>" DESTYPE="FILE" DESFORMAT="PDF" DESNAME="<path>\<pdf filename>.PDF" PARAMFORM="NO" BACKGROUND="NO" SERVER="r6i.world" TOLERANCE=0 ADVCODE="<param>"
OperatingSystemCmd: Command returned 3
WrsRunReport: Done executing report
WrsRunReport: Error running report Return code 3
Error on Screen is REP-0178 : Cannot connect to reports service.
However running the same command from a operating system command prompt in windows reveals that the command runs successfully.
Is there any particular OC4J J2EE settings that are required to get this statement to run properly?
Any help is most appreciative.
Cheers
RodneyHi All,
From much research and experimenting to get this to work I looked at the java.lang.Runtime class and noticed that seperate processes can be started using this very important Java class.
The first thing that I experimented with was in regards to seeing the environment OC4J runs against. Using the java.lang.Runtime class I executed a standard "cmd /c set" command in my Windows environment, and noticed that Oracle Application Server uses its own environment and not a standard windows login environment for its OC4J containers. Apache Tomcat on the other hand uses the standard user login environment.
So to get the application to be able to work properly we needed to override the particular environment the process needed to be able to get it to work. There is a exec command which allows you to override completely the environment for a process you would like to run. This method call does not in any way shape or form change the standard OC4J environment. This was done by executing the same "set" but with the overriden environment. Note that no environment variables from the OC4J container are carried into this new environment.
Cheers
Rodney
