Running Sun App Server 7 and 8 on the same box

Hello,
Are there any known issues with running Sun App Server 7 and 8 in the same host box ? Currently I am encountering some class not found exceptions with Sun App Server 8 . Sun App Server 7 runs just fine.
Thanks,
Aswin.

It's not advisable to run separate installations of
ColdFusion 7 and ColdFusion 8 single server on the same machine the
re are several services that will try to use the same ports.
However, you can install ColdFusion Enterprise using the
multi-server configuration and then deploy the J2EE versions of
ColdFusion to JRun. You can change the JVM that each instance uses
(we recommend the latest 1.4 for CF7 and the latest 1.6 for CF8),
and everything should run fine.
ColdFusion itself is essentially just a J2EE application, the
J2EE server itself is JRun 4. So the specific answer to your
question is "don't install 2 copies of JRun 4 to the same machine".
But yes, it's 100% possible, I'm running this configuration in my
own development environment.

I upgraded my new iPad (iPad 3) to IOS 6 and everything went well except Siri won’t launch apps. When asked say “launch Facebook” Siri responds with “it doesn’t look like you have an app named Facebook” and I get the same results when trying to launch any app. Siri works for everything else it just won’t launch apps. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have this same problem... Seems like nobody else does. Siri won't launch any apps for me, including native apps.

  • OEM 12c and OVM on the same box?

    Hi Guys and Girls!
Thank you in advance for your support!
Could you please share you experience, best practices and gotchas with installing OEM 12c and OVM on the same OL 5x box?
We would like to install OEM 12 R2 on a OL57 server with an existing production (Oracle DB SE 11.2.0.3.0) Oracle VM Manager 3.1.1.625 installation.
    Some questions:
1- Does Oracle support OEM and OVM on the same server?
2- If Oracle VM Manager and the SE DB are already installed on an OL 57 server in /u01/app/oracle/product, can OEM 12c R2 be installed into /u01 as well, or should we use a different directoty, i.e. /u02?
3- Will the OEM 12c installation program be able to use the same DB as Oracle VM Manager, i.e., its just creates the OEM DB schema and goes on its mary way without harming the Oracle VM Manager DB schema?
    Thank you,
    Roddy

    Alessandro,
    Thank you for your reply!
The irony with my OEM and OVM on the same box question is that the Oracle Sales & Support teams as well as public Marketecture has been recommending collocating OEM & OVM!
I agree with you 100% about resource consumption, and considering how often we must restore/reset Oracle VM Manager I am curious how supportable an OEM & OVM install is on the same box. 99% of my customers are not interested in supporting MySQL, i.e. the DBAs know Oracle not MySQL. As long as Oracle VM Manager resets (DB deletes) and UUID restores (uninstalls and re-installs)  will not damage OEM its all good.
    Thanks again for your support!

  • Dev and Qa in the same box

    Hi All,
If I have the DEV and QA in the same box and the sid’ s being EXD and EXT respectively pointing to the same technical system. Should we assign the role of “Integration server” to both the business systems or EXD should be integration server and EXT being the application system?? Hows it work for a single SLD for Dev and QA?

    Teresa,
Adding to stefan, in your SLD, you create Transport Groups and then assign your Business System to the Correct Transport Groups ( when you assign a Business System to an Integration Server ,  it is added to the Transport Group to which the Integration Server belongs ) and then you assign the Transport Targets to the Source and Target business systems.
note : When migrating objects from one environment to another, all Source Businss systems should belong to the same transport group.

  • Designer 6i and 9i on the same box

Can I run Designer 6i and 9i on the same box?
In different Oracle Home of cources
    thank you in advance
    Albert

    Albert,
Yes you can install 6i and 9i together without problems.
Patch versions of 6i and 9i repositories are even compatible, although updates on the repository are certified only from one of both. Browsing should be possible from both 6i and 9i against the same repository. though.
    Compatible versions are:
    6i 9i
    4.6 9.0.2.4
    4.5 9.0.2.3
    4.4 9.0.2.2
    etc.

  • OiD, DB and iAS on the same box

    Hello world!
Did anybody installed OiD DB and iAS on the same box and if yes
    does it working & ? :-)

    Hello Dmirty:
Yes, you can install them on the same box. Here is how I do it:
    1. Install OID with its database.
    2. Resize the OID database user and system tablespaces according
to the installation instructions in the 9iAS Portal install
    guide.
    3. Install Portal in a seperate Oracle Home on the same box.
When you install 9iAS version 1.0.2.2, Portal needs a database
but the database it will use cannot reside in the same Home.
Since you are installing OID, and OID installs a database it is
more space efficient to use the same Oracle Home you use for OID
as you use for Portal. Again, install Portal in a seperate Home
from OID but point Portal to the database in the OID instance
    durring installation.
    Hope this helps.

  • Server Inventory and Desktop Inventory on same box?

I have been trying to run the inventory services for both Desktop and Server
on the same box. I have got it running now after some trouble (no help to

    My question:
Is anyone doing the same in a semi large enviroment 50+ servers 6000+

I have been working in a small test inviroment so I am a little hesitant to
    deploy into production.

  • Help Needed!!!! Running Forms 6i, Reports 6i and WebDB on the same NT box...

    Hi All!
I am in need of some help.
I'm trying to set up the sample code for the Healthy Living WebSite.
I need to have WebDB 2.2x, Forms 6i and Reports 6i all running on the same box. Does anyone know how to set this up....?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
You didn't mention but do you also wish to install the database(8i) on the same machine ?
I am also trying to install all these products(+8i and designer 6i) on the same box but I am concerned more about the min. resources needed before I get started.(I put up a question about it on the 6i Forum, but nobody has answered yet !)
The correct install order should be Forms/Reports 6i then Forms/Reports 6i Server and then WebDb 2.2.
Forms /reports server needs a http listener and installs en configures the WebDb listener for the job.(you are prompted for this during tho have the install process). This is handy if you are intending to use WebDb anyway. When you install Webdb it detects the already installed WebDb listener and does not reinstall.
You do have the SYS password on the database you will use to stored the WDK and WebDb schema.
    About installing the demo.....
I dont' think there are any special issues.I have never done it.
If you are intending to install an 8i database on the same box there are some important things to consider with respect to the install order and what products in which Oracle home must be installed.
    1.Forms/Reports first in the default_oracle
    home.
    2.Then Oracle 8i in a 2nd oracle home call
    it ora81 for example.
3.Then WebDb in the non oracle 8i home !!
This is just a quick summary.
If you run into any problems let me know
    Good Luck.
    Dave.

  • Picture and text in the same box for the calender?

Is it possible to put a small picture in the box (for say May 4) and also get a short text line in the same box?
When I'm doing it now, the picture takes up the whole box and the text goes underneath.
    Thanks

Unfortunately that's how it works. If you have a 3rd party editor you could add the text to the picture before adding it to the calendar. Put in a feature request at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Sell apps in Apple and Android uses the same application ID?

    Hi,
I want to sell folios in Apple and the same folio is free - still - to Android tablets. Then I need produce these app with different application ID, right?
So these folios will show alike buy in Android tablets, because I publish as retail and public.
I believe to more control and freedom to handle these folios to apple and to android the better scenario is produce each app with own application ID.
    Anyone has other workflow?
    Regards

Yes, I would create a different app with a different application ID for Android.

  • How to sync different apps to iPhone and iPad in the same library on same laptop

Hi, I own a iphone and my brother owns a ipad. I have my own apps on my iphone, and he has his own apps on his ipad. When I first connected my iphone to my macbook, all my apps were backed up on my computer. Now today, I connected my brother's ipad to my library, it started syncing the apps that were stored in my library to his ipad, and vice versa. I don't want that, neither does he. How do I stop this? Please help

I found out that by holding down the option key on the macbook pro keyboard and clicking itunes icon, it gives me an option to create a separate library. This is very very convenient and organized! This enables me to keep my brother's and my stuff separate in itunes in two different libraries WITHOUT making a separate user account on my laptop. • Is soap provider agent only available for Sun app server 9.1?

See the blue print on securing web services with soap provider agent. Is this agent embedded within the J2EE agent for sun app server 9.1? Is the same "soap provider agent" available for websphere 6.x or iis server?
    Thanks

the agentadmin --install script does not seem to add all the required things to the server-classpath in the domain.xml
    mine now looks like this:
    /opt/j2ee_agents/appserver_v9_agent/lib/agent.jar
    /opt/j2ee_agents/appserver_v9_agent/locale

    /opt/j2ee_agents/appserver_v9_agent/lib/opensso-installtools-launcher.jar
AND, I've added a system property:
    -Dcom.sun.identity.agents.config.location=/opt/j2ee_agents/appserver_v9_agent/Agent_001/config/AMAgent.properties

  • Can I run Servlets in the Sun App Server?

I am trying to run a servlet. I am not sure if I can run the same using the Sun app server. any help to clarify the following queries would be appreciated.
    1. Should I have to specify a path in the environmental variables?
    2. Is there a web site that tells me the same with respect to running the servlet on a Sun app server.
    Thanks in advance.
    --Srikanta

I'm not sure what you want in regards to question, but I can assure you that you can run servlets in S1AS7. My recommendation is to just package your servlet into a web archive (war) and deploy it. You can deploy it via the commandline (asadmin) or the web based administrative client (likely http://localhost:4848). For more information on this I suggest reading:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/816-7150-10/index.html
You must likely want to read the section on assembling and deploying web applications.
