Running threads in webdynpro applications
Hi all,
We have a requirement to monitor certain conditions and trigger mails accordingly. This monitoring should be on a daily basis. My question is can we run threads in webdynpro applications.
Please help me.
Regards,
Rohit.
Hi Rohit,
TimedTrigger UI element automatically and periodically triggers an event with a specified delay. The TimedTrigger UI element is not displayed on the user interface.
You can use it for your need.

SDM password when running and deploying webdynpro application
Hi
I developed a simple webdynpro application, no eventing just displays text. I rebuild it and then 'run and deploy' application. While doing this it pops up with a dialog box asking for a SDM password.
Is this deploying correctly?
Any assistance is much appreciatedHi Dajee,
Yes it is deploying correctly. Give sdm as password it sould work if you don't have changed the default password of SDM.

I tried with both PieClient and Pie03Client.
http://Hostname:Port/webdynpro/dispatcher/accenture/Dashbrd/SupervisorApplication?SAPtestId=8sap-wd-client=PieClient
http://Hostname:Port/webdynpro/dispatcher/accenture/Dashbrd/SupervisorApplication?SAPtestId=8sap-wd-client=Pie03Client
But I got the same results :-
1. The button is not working.
2. I cannot select any particular order as the List box is displayed like a box with all the orders visible in the screen.
3. and obviously the date field is not working and I'll try with the drop down.
Can you please suggest what else should I try.

saurin shah.Hi,
Before you design the Iview, check the R/3 system that you are trying to connect is coonfigured in SLD(System Landscape Directory), this all is done by the system administrator.
Please cehck out the link on the WD application in EP -

Edited by: Neil Gardiner on Nov 22, 2010 9:27 PMHi,
You will not be able to do this with a standard radio button, as each one will be in a separate instance of the row.
The easiest way is to use a checkbox (as you can script this on/off) and then make it look like a radio button.
Example here:

Logon for ABAP WebDynpro Application
Hi All,
To run an ABAP webdynpro application, do the users need sepearate login for R/3 and SAP WAS, for which SSO can be configured. or is it just one login required?
Thanks
HardikThanks Thomas. I am creating a flow diagram for user logon process. Does below steps make sense?
1. Enter URL of webdynpro application
2. Enter User Name and Password
3. SAPlogon.exe and SAPLOGON.INI provides user Data and server information to Work Processor in WAS
4. Check User Name and Password information agains SAP User Directory
5. Give Authentication if successful.
Thanks

Hi All
Please let me clarify my doughts...
1) In local machine where all webdynpro applications stored...I mean I wnat to know path.
2) who(Developer/Administrator) will deploy the webdynpro components and what is the process to deploy webdynpro components in to SAP Enterprise portal.
3) In support environment which tools willbe used to give support for applications, which are developed using webdynpor technology.
I mean how the tickets will be handled,,I worked for some days in java, where in that environment i have used remedy tool to get tickets from the clients.
4) In local environment how can we run and deploy webdynpro applications...
5) Can we use make utility for webdypro applications as we can use for java applications..
Thanks
Seshu..Hey Seshu
1>By default it'll be in
C:Documents and Settings<user>.dtc
2>FYI we dont deploy applications in EP, we deploy in the J2ee engine and portal just a component on top of the java engine.
An Administrator can deploy the applications developed.
or anyone can deploy applications knowing the SDM password
3> am not clear on wat tickets u spekin
4>you need to deploy once in the server and then run the application throught he url generated after deploying.
5>need more clarity..

User ID executing ABAP WebDynpro Application
Hello,
If we are running a ABAP WebDynpro application from a portal and we don´t want to create user ID both in portal and in SAP machine. Is it possible to have a system-user executing the applikation instead of the portal user ID ?
Many users will run this web Dynpro report and it would help a lot if they only needed authorization to the portal and not to the SAP machine.
Thanksful for your help.
Best Regards
AndreasHi Andreas,
it is absolutely possible to provide access to WDA applications from the portal using a specific generic user rather than a named SAP user. Within the SICF logon data tab for your application you can specify the user to be used.
However, be careful with this approach as it may breach the terms of your SAP license agreement - generally all WDA should be via a named user. That said SAP are normally quite flexible about this sort of thing - but I would be approaching your SAP client manager to discuss the particular situation and if they would be happy for you to do this. Especially given the description of your requirement I would be especially vigilant with getting prior approval from SAP, as this does look like the sort of situation where they would normally be wanting you to pay license fees for those users.
Good luck,

Needs a background webdynpro application running at the server side
Hi All,
We have a requirement wherein we need to have an application running all the time at the server side to capture the response coming from a web application. Based on the response that the application receives, it needs to update some backend R/3 tables.
We are thinking of a webdynpro java application.
Can anyone suggest what kind of application needs to be implemented here?
And what would be the steps required to run the application at the server side without calling the application.
Thanks & Regards,
AnuragHi Robin,
Thanks for the detailed explaination.
This may sound silly to you but I've another doubt which is as follows:
As you mentioned that the external web application will be sending requests to our Web service(in SOAP envelopes) and rest of the functionality can be achieved by our web service.
Actually, we are expecting only responses from the external web application. The thing is that we are sending the requests to the external web applications from our custom webdynpro application and in return the web application will be sending us 2 responses.
First response would be back to our WD java application URL(to the browser in which WD java app is running) which would get the response and display some message based on the response.
Second would be to this web service which you have just suggested. We are having two responses so that even if the browser in which the WD java application is running gets accidentally closed, the response from the external web application must get captured somewhere else and should not get lost in any case.
So, now since we are only expecting the response from the web application and we do not want any requests from the web application to our web service; how is this possible?
I am asking the above question because you have mentioned that the external web application has to request our Web service but we want is only this web service to capture the response coming from the Web application.
Or is it like the web application will send us the response string as request string to our Web Service and the web service will capture these response parameters as request parameters from the web application and do the further processing.
But in that case, we do not want any response to be sent by the Web Service to the external web application.
Please suggest if this is possible.
Once again, many thanks for the help so far.

Webdynpro application running error
Hi
i am trying to run my webdynpro application, i got an error in webpage like .....
Error when processing your request
What has happened?
The URL http://secp:8000/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/wdr_test_application_api was not called due to an error.
Note
The following error text was processed in the system EC6 : Die URL enthält keine vollständige Domainangabe (secp statt secp.).
The error occurred on the application server secp_EC6_00 and in the work process 0 .
The termination type was: RABAX_STATE
The ABAP call stack was:
Method: CHECK of program CX_FQDN=======================CP
Method: LATE_CONSTRUCTOR of program CL_WDR_UCF====================CP
Method: HANDLE_REQUEST of program CL_WDR_UCF====================CP
Method: IF_HTTP_EXTENSION~HANDLE_REQUEST of program CL_WDR_MAIN_TASK==============CP
Method: EXECUTE_REQUEST of program CL_HTTP_SERVER================CP
Function: HTTP_DISPATCH_REQUEST of program SAPLHTTP_RUNTIME
Module: %_HTTP_START of program SAPMHTTP
What can I do?
If the termination type was RABAX_STATE, then you can find more information on the cause of the termination in the system EC6 in transaction ST22.
If the termination type was ABORT_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can find more information on the cause of the termination on the application server secp_EC6_00 in transaction SM21.
If the termination type was ERROR_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can search for more information in the trace file for the work process 0 in transaction ST11 on the application server secp_EC6_00 . In some situations, you may also need to analyze the trace files of other work processes.
If you do not yet have a user ID, contact your system administrator.

Error while running Webdynpro Application
Hi,
I have configured the J2EE engine details correctly in my NWDS. Now i'm trying to run Webdynpro Applications. When I click on Run, it is asking SDM password.
I'm entering it. Then I'm getting an error like "Deployment Aborted".
The error details are
Deployment exception : Server <xxx> did not accept login request as admin on port 50118. Details: ERROR: Could not establish connection to server <xxx> at port 50118: <xxx>
Please suggest me what may be the error and how to resolve it...
Thanks in advance..
Regards,
NareshHi Naresh,
Either your admin password is expired or you have changed the administrator password.
Do the following Steps,
Use the Config Tool to change the entry in secure storage as follows:
1. Start the Config Tool.
(Execute <SAPj2eeEngine_install_dir> configtoolconfigtool.bat.)
2. Select the secure store node.
The configuration for the secure storage in the file system appears.
3. Select the admin/password/<SID> entry.
4. Enter the administrator user's new password in the "Value" field and choose "Add".
5. Choose "File" --> "Apply" to save the data.
Note: Contrary to the message that appears, you do not need to restart the server or cluster for this change to take effect.
6. Finally restart SDM server. Then deploy.
