Running two version of BEA on the same box

Can we run both 6.1 and 8.1 on the same box using the same license?
Also Is it possible to take a backup of existing verions which is 6.1 and install weblogic 8.1 and if something goes wrong revert back to the backup state

Same box, yes. Same license, no.

Sorry this question makes no sense to me. What exactly are you trying
          to accomplish?

Yes, there is: on two separate computers.
You cannot run two versions of Dreamweaver simultaneously on
    the same
computer. They can coexist side by side, but the operating
    system will
not let you run them together.

  • I seem to be running two versions of firefox at the same time help!

I seem to be running an older version and a new version of firefox at the same time. I run the new version from startup (it forgets previous tabs from last session) and this sadly does not let me use back and forward arrow buttons so its a bit useless. Strangely when I pop an email window up, the older version of firefox appears with the last few tabs I had browsed.
disabling plugins stops browser starting in new version and back and forward arrows work ok.
    any help much appreciated!

You can install them both but there are a few steps to take.
When you install Firefox 4 use the custom installation option and choose a different location to install Firefox.
In order to use both versions, you need to create a new profile for Firefox 4 (Firefox stores user data in the profile). Using the same profile with different versions can cause problems. Once you create a new profile you can copy certain data such as bookmarks and passwords between them. You can also use Firefox Sync to keep the profiles synchronized. Finally, you will need to set up shortcuts to launch the correct profile for each version.

Yes it is possible, don't use the same profile, and you will have to use "-no-remote" on the one that is not your default browser and/or not your default profile.

  • Can we run 2 versions of Apex on the same Oracle database ?

Can we run both Apex 3.1 & Apex 4.0 versions on the same database ?
Instead of upgrading my 3.1 to Apex 4.0, I wanted to know if I can run 2 versions of Apex on the same database simultaneously

    Hello,
    >> Can we run both Apex 3.1 & Apex 4.0 versions on the same database ?
No you can’t. The APEX 4.0 installation script will automatically detect the 3.1 instance and it will be upgraded.

  • Install two versions of Safari on the same Mac?

Is it possible to install two different versions of Safari on the same Macintosh? It looks like we'll need to test for both Safari 1.x and Safari 2.x. Or will we need to use two different computers?

One poster has said he had both Safari 1.2 and Safari 2.0.x running on the same machine under OS X 10.4.x, and another poster said he could not install Safari 1.2 under OS X 10.4.4. So I don't know if its possible or not. Even if you do get both installed, you may not see all of the differences you would in running Safari 1.2 or 1.3 under OS X 1.3.x and Safari 2.x under OS X 10.4 because if both are running under the same version of OS X, then both are using the same underlying Webcore technology. Some differences would still be apparent. The person who claimed to have both versions installed claimed that Safari 1.2 worked with some site he needed to use while Safari 2.x did not.

  • Running multiple versions of iTunes on the same PC?

I like to always have the latest version of iTunes on my machine, but I also need to keep an older version (7.5 or lower) on my machine for compatibility reasons (please don't ask why - I just do). Is it possible to install multiple versions of iTunes on the same PC (using XP and/or Vista)? If this is not possible by simply installing in different folders, I'm guessing that I can use this "virtualization" that I've been hearing about. I've used Parallels on a Macbook before, but what can I use to create a virtual machine on a PC? Is there a free program that does this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Virtual PC can do it, but it's not free. I think VMware as well, but likely not free. Actually, it seems you can evaluate VMware:

    Hi,
I installed oracle 10.2.0.2 and 10.2.0.4 in the same box, using different paths as ORACLE_HOME, but the same user... I am gettin this errors when trying to create an instance:

  • How to run two DAQmx Read (Analog) at the same time?

I would like to measure a voltage and a current,
but the two cannot be conbined in one task.
Therefore, I had to use two DAQmx Read in the same program. But it did not run.

Multiple channel types can be combined in a single DAQmx Read. One way is to use multiple DAQ Create Channel fucntions. Look at the posting here and the second example at the link in the answer.

  • How can I run two independant LabView applications from the same computer, without taking a performance hit?

I have two identical, but independant test stations, both feeding data back to a Data Acquisition Computer running LabView 6.1. Everything is duplicated at the computer as well, with two E-series multifunction I/O cards (one for each test station) and two instances of the same LabView program for acquiring and analysing the data. The DAQ computer has a Celeron processor w/ 850Mhz clock and 512MB memory, and is running on Windows NT.
I have noticed that when I run both the applications simultaneously, I take a substantial performance hit in terms of processing speed (as opposed to running just one program). Why does this happen and how can I prevent it? (In t
his particular case, it may be possible to combine both the tests into one program since they are identical, but independant, simultaneous control of two different LabView programs is a concept I need to prove out).
Thanks in advance for any tips, hints and spoon feedings (!)....

Depending on your application, you may or may not be able to improve things.
Firstly, each task requires CPU time, so a certain performance difference is guaranteed. Making sure you have a "wait until ms" in every while loop helps in all but the most CPU intensive programs.
    Secondly, if you are
    1) streaming data to disk
    2) Acquiring lots of data over the PCI bus
    3) Sending lots of data o ver the network
you can have bottlenecks elsewhere than in your program (limited Disk, PCI or Network bandwidth).
Avoid also displaying data which doesn`t need to be displayed. An array indicator which only shows one element still needs a lot of processing time if the array itself is large.... Best is to set the indicator invisible if this is the case.
    I think
it would be best if you could give some more information about the amount of data being acquired, processed and sent. Then maybe it will be more obvious where you can optimise things. If you are running W2000, try activating the task manager while the program(s) are sunning to see where the bottleneck is.

  • Can I install two versions of NW in the same server?

I have BW installed in a server running on Netweaver 7.3. but I need to install Netweaver 7.02 to do some tests, is it possible to install this other version in the same server? or will there be conflicts after the installation of the second version?
    Thanks in advance,
    Luis.

    HI,
sapinst detects existing instances, and makes sure that you dont use the same instance numbers => same tcp ip ports for diferent sap instances, wich would cause conflits.
so in the limit you can install any number os sap systems on the same host, given you have enought hardware resourses.
    best regards,

  • Can I run two copies of FrameMaker at the same time?

I am trying to learn Structured FrameMaker. Is it possible/legal/safe to start two copies of FrameMaker on my PC at the same time?
Specifically I want to have one copy open in Structured FM to experiment and the other copy in Unstructured to take notes on what I am learning. I am trying to see if I understand the concepts by writing up a tutorial but I do not want to be locked into structured mode when do not have a template which covers all of my needs ( I am still figuring them out) and I do not yet really understand what the structured templates do.
Will the documents save by the rules of the window they are in? What other problems will/could I encounter?
    Thanks,
    Marjorie

Marjorie,<p>If your machine has sufficient disk space and memory, yes, you can run multiple copies of FrameMaker at once. To run the different user interfaces at the same time, you'd have to start both copies. Then, change the user interface in one copy. Since the change doesn't take affect until you restart FrameMaker, shut down that copy and start a new one (leaving the first user interface in effect in the other original copy.<p>All that said, I suspect you can do the testing you want in one copy of FrameMaker, using the Structured FrameMaker user interface. The structured user interface simply means you can work with structured documents; you can also work with unstructured documents. Each document is independently structured or unstructured; in fact, each flow is independently structured or unstructured. You might therefore consider using the structured user interface and opening one structured and one unstructured document in a single copy of FrameMaker. Or create a single document with side-by-side flows and put structured content in one and unstructured content in the other.<p>Just remember that some of the dialog boxes are slightly different in the two user interfaces. For example, the marker, anchored frame, insert table, and cross-reference dialog boxes all let you select an element tag. Since there are no element tags in an unstructured flow, the element tag text boxes in these dialog boxes shows <Unstructured>. If you are willing to ignore these differences, I recommend you do your experimentation in a single copy of FrameMaker.<p>--Lynne

  • Can I have two versions of firefox at the same time?

    Hi,
Probably a dumb question but can I have two versions of Firefox on my system at the same time?
The reason is because of Add Ons that are not compatible with v4. I'd like to be able to close v4 when I need to use an Add On in v3.

  • Is it possible to have two versions of HotSync in the same PC?

I had an old and reliable Zire 31 and I got from a friend a couple of months back a TX. I was synching the TX in my office because I had my old one synching at home. Now my wife wants to use the old Zire and I'll like to synch my home stuff too. I know both versions of the HotSync sofwtare are different (6.2 for the TX and 4.1 for the Zire). Is there a way I can keep both in my PC at home without having to uninstall one of them. I think (haven't try) that installing 6.2 wipes out 4.2
    Post relates to: Palm TX

It's not advisable (for your own convenience) but if you dont share the same login account on the PC, your installations on each PC account should remain hermetic from each other. Otherwise I suggest you go to PD 6.2 for both.
