Running Windows XP computer and iMAC on Airport simultaneously?

I am running my iMac with an Airport wireless connection to the Internet. can I add a Windows XP laptop with a wireless card to this network?

Yes you can.
I did that at work, where I have a PC running XP.
Since the PC did not have the wireless card, I bought a SMC USB adaptor and plugged my Airport Express as a router.
This way I can connect both the PC and my iBook to the network.
Also, I can mount the PC onto my iBook, if I want to!
The only problem I have at work is, I can not input a password into the windows machine. I do not have this when a windows user comes to visit me and uses my wireless at home.
I was not very concerned since I do not broadcast the network name and I put the power in the AX all the way down.

This would be the correct setting if the AirPort Extreme is connected to a simple modem (one ethernet port).

Interference Robustness often does more harm than good and should not be used unless you know you are in a area with a lot of wireless networks and you feel that your network is experiencing interference issues from a nearby network.

Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. I have tried re-booting my computer, but this did not work.

My windows 7 computer, and my macbook pro on snow leopard don't see each other. I have configured the windows section under the network prefrences with the required information, and still no luck. Does anyone have any sugestions for me?

Shouldn't they see each other and let me use each of their files?
Please pardon the obvious here, but have you checked to make sure that you have enabled the File Sharing option on both computers? You may have already done this, but your post did not mention this, so we can only go with the info that we have.
If you have not enabled File Sharing, I can't help on Windows, but on your Mac...
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
Open Sharing
Enter a check mark next to File Sharing
I imagine that there is a similar setting for the Windows machine
It would be a good idea to power cycle your entire network as well to make sure that the network is sequenced correctly. Power everything down, order is not important.
Start your modem first and let it run a moment by itself
Then start your main router the same way
Continue starting each device the same way until everything is powered back up

Check for .dll files
1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
2. If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
3. Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
1. Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
2. Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using theMicrosoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
3. Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

The virtual machine isn't a partition on your hard drive, it's just a file. You can delete the vm by going into Paralells preferences or just drag t to the trash. Bootcamp will partition your hard drive for a Win 7 install.
