Running windows XP, encountered a problem updating iTunes. Now cannot re-install it. when i try to re-install, the website acts as if nothing is wrong and will not reinstall. How do I re-install iTunes, when the website detects that it is installed?

I am running windows xp and tried to download the latest version of iTunes 11.1.4 for windows xp. Unfortunately it did not install correctly. There was a error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library, Runtime Error!, Program:C\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe, R6034, An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information. Then, when I close that box, another box appears that states: iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (windows error 1114).  When I attempt to reinstall iTunes though the Apple iTunes website, nothing happens ( no reinstall) presumably because it detects that it is already installed. How do I work around this problem to reinstall iTunes?
