Running XI and 6.5 Services on same Business Objects Server

We are currently thinking about  migrating to Business Objects XI from 6.5 SP4.
We are running with a 3-tier architecture, with the Business Objects services running on a Windows Server.
Due to the number of users and reports in circulation we would like to do the migration in phases.
Is it possible to run both the XI and 6.5 services on the same Business Objects server at the same time?

That's actually a migration secanario so it should work fine. I had no trouble with 5.2 and 6.0 on the same system.

Alternatively, partition your internal HD and dual-boot it. Do note that you have to reboot to switch back and forth. You can't do it by logging out and back in.

    1) Is it possible to create custom object web service and used in external system ?
    2) When we create the Web service from custom business object what the necessary steps(action : Create , Read , Update) require?
    3) Sample Scenario :
    My Custom Business Object
    businessobject Custom_Integration {

I have created the Web Service using this custom business object.
    3) How i can use this web service in external system? what are the prerequisite steps in external system to consume this service in it?
Please anyone have idea about this how to do this and how to achieve this using SDK and custom business object.

    Hello Mithun,
Does this section in the documentation help you:
SAP Cloud Applications Studio Help -> Developers Desktop -> Web Services
The entry "Task -> Create a Web Service" describes how to create a Web Service on your own BO
The entry "Task -> Test a Web Service" helps you how you can use it in a foreign tool / application.

  • Multiple Custom Synch Plugins For Same Business Object

Can I make multiple plugins for the same business object? The main reason I'm asking is because I want to have one item plugin that runs before the core item data synchs and another item plugin that runs after.
Since the topic's here, if multiple plugins can be written, which order would two plugins run if they are both set to go off after the core synch?

That answers half of my question, although just to verify:
The only issue is the before synch plugin may not have it's data in SBO (eg new order from webtools). If the data initiated in SBO then you should be fine.
As far as I can tell, you're basically saying that if you're working with data in SBO in a plugin that's set to PluginExecutionLocation.BeforeSynch, be cautious of the fact that new data from Web Tools will not have the plugin run against it because it will arrive after the standard synch brings it over. I would assume the same would be true for the reverse, in that any new data in SBO that's not yet in Web Tools will also not have the plugins run against it for the same reason.
Also, let's say I create two SynchPlugins for Items and set both of their SynchRunTime fields to PluginExecutionLocation.AfterSynch - which one runs first? Or is it indeterminable each time?

  • Can we create a Web Service from a Business Object??

    Hello All,
Has anyone created a Web Service using a Business Object?
When I am trying to create a Web Service in TM box, I can see that couple of options like Business Objects, Process Agents are disabled and rest like Consumer Group, Service Provider are enabled. Any idea why this is happening. Is this related to some configuration setting.
    Regards,

please elaborate in which environment or case you are creating Web Service from Business Object. As per my understanding we generally create web service through Wizard.

  • Running Lion and Snow Leopard on the same MacBook Pro

So here's the thing .....apparently Lion won't run Photoshop and Illustrator CS2 (which I'm quite happy with and not about to shell out silly amounts of money to Adobe for even CS3) and apparently there may be (and I stress may be) problems with Word 2008 (likewise money to Microsoft for Word 2011).
I think, and probably won't know till I've installed it, that I'd like to try Lion on my Macbook Pro but keep Snow Leopard as a separate OS to run Photoshop, Illustrator and if necessary Word until I can afford to pay Adobe (& possibly Microsoft though I can't really see what improvements they can make to Word 2008) the large amounts of money they seem to think they deserve for an upgrade.
Does anybody out there know if it is possible to run both Lion and Snow Leopard on the same machine and if it is how do I do it?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

  • I can't run LR5 and EOS utility at the same time

    I'm running Mac OS 10.9.5, LR5.7 & Eos Utility 3.
I can't run LR and Eos3 at the same time. Eos just crashes and have to force quit Eos.
    Any tips anyone?
Do I have to downgrade to Eos2. Not a problem really I suppose.

LR supports tethering using a Canon DLL and EOS Utility probably also supports tethering or at least uses something from a similar Canon DLL.  You probably cannot have two different versions of that DLL loaded at the same time, so it makes sense there are problems.

  • Running Forms and Oracle 9i on the same PC

Some time ago I installed Oracle 8 and Forms and Reports 6i on the same PC (Windows 2000). I did specify a different ORA home for the Forms product to the database product. I believe this means that your registry is set to access one, probably your database, and not the other. My instructor on the Forms course I had attended, said the old 2.5 version of Forms and personal editions of Oracle would work together on the same PC, but Oracle have prevented this being possible in later releases, by having this ORA home issue. I failed to find a work round and no-one replied to my quey on the issue.
Do the latest dowloads, Oracle 9i, etc. allow you to run both the database and Forms on the same PC and if so are there any tips for me in installing them so it will actually work?
    Many thanks,
    Susan

    Hi there,
installing 6i for 8i on the same box is not a problem. I find it better, on a personal pc to have them in different homes.
    - create a folder called 'Oracle6i'
    - when prompted for the install home - point to this new directory
once the installation is complete you will need to copy the tnsnames.ora file from the oracle database home and paste it into the corresponding directory of the oracle6i installation.

  • Running ifs and ctx as service

I am trying to run ctx and ifs as a service so that I can log off the administrator. call c:\oracle\ora817\bin\ctxsrv -user ctxsys/ctxsys -log c:\oracle\ifsconfig\ctxm.log
    Urgently need advice.

If you have database and iFS on one computer, your problem is probably the sequence of starting services.
You probably don't have database or/and listener started by the time you start iFS.
Maybe the solution is to modify your scripts to check that database is started or to wait some time before starting iFS.

  • Windows 2012 routing and remote access service with same subnet

I have internal server IP range -192.168.1.0/24
Windows routing and remote access service  with vpn client IP -192.168.11../22
client side IP subnet is -192.168.1.0/24
So we wan routing \ NATING between  192.168.1.0/24 to 192.168.11.0/22 so if vpn user try to ping 192.168.11.5 it should internally forward all request to 192.168.1.5

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that VPN client and internal network has the same IP range -192.168.1.0/24. And you want to transfer internal network from IP address 192.168.1.0/24 to 192.168.11.0/22.
Agree with Charles David’s point of view. The easiest way to fix routing confusion would be to either change the VPN subnet or the VPN client subnet.
Or, if you configure Windows Server(RRAS) as VPN server, you may enable NAT to transfer internal IP address:
    1. Open RRAS, add NAT.
    2. New interface to NAT and configure it as public interface.
    3. Open Address Pool tab, add IP address range 192.168.11.0/22.
    4. Click Reservations, add reserved IP(192.168.11.0/22) and corresponding internal IP(192.168.1.0/24) one by one.
This would be a lot of workload. Besides, you may use 3rd party devices to transfer subnet IP addresses.

  • ADF table and ADF form on the same view object

    Hi,
As per the ADF demos available on ADF site, I created a jsf page with 2 panels. One panel is an ADF table based on a view object. And the other panel is and ADF form based on the same view object. My requirement is that as I scroll through the records in the ADF table, the ADF Form should dynamically display the details of the record in the ADF table. My understanding is that this should be automatic. However, its not working as expected. What have I missed?

    Hi,
Apply PPR for form that displays details.

  • Can SQL Server (2008 R2/2012) Integration Services connect to Business Objects / Hyperion directly?

    Hi,
I have a situation where I need to pull data from Business Objects and
    Hyperion using
SSIS (2008 R2/2012). I did some pro-active research on how to go about implementing this on a couple of Forums and could only figure out the below solution.
We can create an ODBC DSN / connection for Business Objects and that can be used by SSIS as a connection manager to directly link to the Business
    Objects Universe. (http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/viewtopic.php?p=622922&sid=fbb54541e1daacf9714a5672b5ed1314)
Question 1 - Has anyone tried to implement this in past? Is this possible directly or can be achieved through some workarounds? sharing inputs/experience on this will be highly appreciated!
Question 2 - If this possible in any way , how to get this thing set-up in an environment where SSIS and BO are residing on two different domains/networks. Any way to establish a connection from SSIS
    to the BO instance/server?
Would really appreciate if anyone can help me out with this issue.
    Thanks

  • Running windows and OS 10 at the same time.

I am going to order a new iMac.  I want to be able to have windows and Mac running at the same time.  I will be using two monitors.  My question is would I be better to order more ram, or the fastest processor to optimize the performance?  My brother has a mac book pro running parallels, he says that it works or but is quite slow.  Any help before I order my new iMac would be appreciated.

More RAM would speed things up more when handeling multiple applications at the same time.

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.

  • Running Integrated and Dedicated Graphics At The Same Time

Hey all, I know this question has been asked before, but I haven't found an answer particularly pertaining to my situation.
First of all, I have an HP Compaq Elite 8300 with an Intel i5-3470, integrated graphics (DisplayPort and VGA.) I also have a dedicated GPU (Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE.) I enabled the integrated graphics in the BIOS to use both the integrated graphics and the dedicated graphics at the same time.
Now, I have one monitor plugged into the integrated graphics, as I set that as the primary GPU. Whenever I plug a monitor into the 7300, both screens go blank and nothing shows up. As a matter of fact, on start-up once, I had all four monitors plugged in and all that happened was that every monitor stayed blank and blinked every few seconds. Any ideas on what to do?

    Hi,
When the BIOS detects a discrete graphics card the integrated graphics processor will be disabled. HP normally placed black covers over the motherboard video ports marked do not remove when a discrete graphics card is shipped with the PC. Trying to run both is probably confusing the BIOS in your PC.
Not all PCs containing the Intel i5-3470 will have an enabled graphics processor.
