Running XP Pro, Firefox versions above 3.6.x will not open. Why not?
When 4.0 came out I downloaded and installed it. It would not open. I restarted my computer and tried to open 4.0. It would not open. I then tried to remove 4.0, but the uninstall wizard indicated that 4.0 was running. I restarted my computer, uninstalled 4.0 and reinstalled 3.6.
I went through the same process with 6.0 with the same results.
Ok I have a update
I was able to open in Safe Mode
clicked the Microsoft symbol the right clicked the FireFox option and found the open in safe mode option
seams to all work fine that way
Fire Fox is now working like it should. Once I got it open in Safe mode its opening like its suposed to. Not sure why but its working now HURRAY!!

How to run 2 different Firefox versions using the same profile
Is it possible to run 2 different Firefox versions using the same profile and still have browsing history saved? I used to be able to do that up until a week ago. What happened was I was using Firefox version 3.6.28(a very old version of Firefox) which I need to use sometimes and then the current version, 36.01. Earlier I would use both my versions of Firefox and the history would be saved if I used both versions but now when version 36.01 came out, its not saving for some reason. Is this a bug? The history is saving during the current session, but say I close out of Firefox and then go back to Firefox, it will still be saved but when I go to my old version of Firefox, the history is saved but then after I close out of that the history on my new current version is all gone and it starts me all fresh, is there a way to get rid of this so that the history will always be saved even if i switch between versions? I could do that before up until Firefox 35.01 but Firefox 36 isnt saving the history from the old version, is this a bug or not? Now I have to create a separate profile for each Firefox so the history I use on the old version is only saved on that version and the history I have on the new Firefox is another profile so that history from the 2nd profile remains but I dont want that. I want to be able to use the same profile so that the same browsing history can be saved using both versions like it was before, I hope people can understand my problem. If not I can further explain, thanks.
@ the-edmeister, I understand that the 2 versions are completely different, however how come the history was saving fine when I switched between firefox 3.6.28 to the current one which was Firefox 32, 33, 34, 35 etc? Like I'm surprised how come now at Firefox 36 this problem started, Firefox 36 isnt that much different from Firefox 35 but yet Firefox 35 was still saving my browser history from the old 3.6.28 version, my 3.6.28 version never upgrades but the new Firefox keeps upgrading whenever there is a new release out automatically and then all of a sudden when the new version of 36.01 came out all my history was gone, so isnt Firefox 35.01 also very much different from 3.6.28 as much as 36.01 is? I hope you got what I meant, thank you for helping.

Any Mac that can happily run OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Logic Pro 9.1.5.....
Note: Newer Macs cannot run Snow Leopard because SL doesn't provide hardware support for the newer hardware found in these newer Macs....
Next best combo for newer Macs is Mavericks 10.9.5 and Logic Pro 9.1.8... but it is nowhere near as efficient a combo as the previous one mentioned... -

Why can't I use Roboform2go with any Firefox version above 3.6.22?

I love Firefox and I love Roboform2go. But now I can't use Roboform2go (with all the many passwords I have stored on Roboform2go) with any Firefox version above 3.6.22. Why not??? Also now McAfee SiteAdvisor doesn't work with Firefox 3.6.22.

My machine is Top of the range (my Company builds them so it had better be :) )
Amd 1100t , 8gb ram , Windows 7 64 bit etc, etc...
The is not a hardware problem , but a software problem with FF...Any help would be appreciated as I hate using IE 8 for anything at all :( but I have to keep it on my machines just to run my remote security cameras at my Computer shop ???

"My DVR security sofware that I access remotely uses a "dvr .ocx" file....when I try it in Firefox , either the latest non beta (3.6.1.5) or the new beta version (4.0 rc) it will NOT work as it says the plugin is missing... it works in IE 8 (unfortunately) but not IE9...
As I own a Computer company I am fairly computer literate but cannot find a plugin that allows this to work in Firefox.... but I would have expected it to work in the new Firefox :(

I switched to mountain lion and from Acrobat pro 9 to 10. now safari will not open pdf files. acrobat preferences says it is trying to use version9 to open and i removed version 9. any ideas?

I am trying to update to iTunes 10 to us my new iPad, but I can not remove a corrupted? "apple software update" program... I can get everything else off, but due to "previous version" of software update it will not continue.
I stopped in to see one of the genius at the local store who referred me to "Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable" (I am trying to install it on a Windows XP System)
The last version on iTunes on my PC was iTunes 7.

Julia from WoodridgeUnfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.) -

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. I've installed Mavericks on my Mac Pro. It works well, generally, but will not stay asleep! Pressing the power button twice sometimes extends the sleep mode but even that seldom results in a full overnight sleep. File sharing off. What else can help?

After downloading the latest version of iTunes, the store will not load. It appears as if it has loaded, but the screen remains blank.
I have the same problem and have been fighting with it for several days. I think the last thing that I did before this happened was to let Quicktime update itself. When I open itunes and click on store, the connecting bar gets halfway and then stops. That leaves me with the white store page, if I leave it alone for a bit, I see words as in names of singers and but no pictures.
I have ran the diagnostics and see no problems at all, no event logs in windows, no errors at all. I've un-installed itunes and re-installed but no change. I'm using Norton 360 from comcast. I have windows 7 pro 64 bit. Also, the help in itunes doesn't display.
I put in a ticket with apple and the response I got back basically told me to do what I've already done. I created a new user and have the same issue.
Any help at all will be very much appreciated. I think this started August. 8, 2011.

How do I import addresses from Address Book Ver 4.1.2 to the Lion Address Book version 6.1? Lion will not allow me to open Address book Version 4.1.2 to get to the addresses to copy
Do you have any addresses in the Lion version?
If not, copy the AddressBook folder from your username/Library/Application Support/ folder on the old mac (or backup).
Copy it to the same location on your new Mac, replacing the one that is there. Start Address Book in Mountain Lion and it should convert the files to the correct format.
If you do have addresses, it is a little more complicated.
First, create a Contacts Archive (from File>Export menu). This will be your backup.
Next, export the current contacts as vCards.
Then, follow the steps above.
Then, import all the cards you exported. If you select all and double-click, it will ask if you want to add them. You'll then have to add them to whatever groups you had set up. -
When i open itunes it gives me the option to download the new version 10.3. my computer will not support 10.3. i can't by pass the download to continue with my current version of itunes. i've trashed and reinstalled 8.2.1 twice. any solutions?
I am in the same boat. I tried repeatedly to contact iTunes support, but was told each time that I had contacted the wrong deaprtment and they could not help me. There must be a way to still be able to use the iTunes store without paying for a system update. If not, I hope they will reimburse me the money I have in my acount.

Google tool bar keeps disappearing
