Runtime Error causes Elements 11 editor to crash

I've had this happen twice now over the last 10 days. After the first time, I removed the whole program & re-installed from the disc. Its now just happened again and editor will not load & I just get the Runtime Error! notification. As before, I can open Organiser but Editor will not either open directly or from within Organiser.

Uninstall and reinstall.

  • Runtime error in Elements 9, editor will not work

    I have Windows Vista. The organizer seems to work fine.  But right after a photo opens in editor, a window appears saying:  Microsoft Visual C++,    Runtime Library.  It says Runtime Error!  Program....PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe  This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the applications support team for more information.
    A couple days ago the computer shut down unexpectedly (my computer has been doing that alot in the last month, there was also a power outage due to a storm).  I tried restarting the computer, closing and restarting Elements, updating Elements (it did not need it) I also tried restoring the system to a restore point where Elements was working fine and that did not work.
    Would really appreciate any help.  Thanks so much.

    Oh, great...an "unknown" faulting module!
    There's not a lot to go on, so I can only offer a couple of general troubleshooting suggestions:
    Re-set the Editor's Preferences by holding down your Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys when launching the Editor and keep them held down until you see the prompt asking if you want to delete the Preferences.  Answer "Yes" and they will be re-built.  You may have to minimize any open windows in order to see that prompt.
    If you have manually enabled the TWAIN interface for scanning, see this Adobe document:

  • Runtime error with photoshop editor

    A power failure shut down Photoshop Elements organizer and editor.  Now I get a "Runtime Error when I try to open the editor.  What do I do now?

  • Runtime error - PS Elements 10

    I continue to get the runtime error when I launch the elements editor. I've opened 3-4 cases talking with PS Elements support. So much so that I've learned how to fix the problem without support. Not sure if how I resolve the problem is universal for other PS Elements users but I do know support knows about this issue.
    If/when u get the runtime error you have to first rename the MediaDatabase.db3 file if you had an earlier version of Elements. Replace .db3 with "old" This corrects the problem - but if you get another 'runtime error' u have to go into Adobe from Program Data (rt. click on the Start and open Windows Explorer-> go to C drive->Program Data->Adobe->Photoshop Elements->10.0 or the version u own->Locale->en_us->MediaDatabase) and delete the generated Mediadatabase.db3 file. Why this happens I don't know. But I certinaly hope Adobe finds a fix for this!

      Does this error occur when using the effects panel or more generally. If more generally, as well as renaming the media database it often helps to re-set the preferences. The editor prefs often get corrupted. You may need to rebuild the editor preferences to resolve any conflicts.
    Hold down the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst double clicking on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
    You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
    Click on Yes
    Close down Elements and re-open it in the normal way - then wait whilst it rebuilds the preferences.

  • Runtime error 4605 and word application crashing

    Hello Everyone,
    I wrote a script to add TAGs as comments of word document. The criteria of adding tag is based on outline numbering as document do not follow word styles, I had to use outline numbering for this purpose.
    There are couple of issues I am facing.
    1.) script is very slow and sometimes my word application crashes.
    2.) sometimes I get a runtime error 4605 'This command is not available' for line "Selection.Comments.Add Range:=Para.Range, text:="[" & sIdLabel & sCurrentNumber & "]" & vbCrLf  ' ID‘}"
    Here is my updated code
    'script to insert TAGs as comment based on word document outline.
    ' The format of TAG is provided by user and also the step by which TAG number need to be incremented
    Public Sub CreateOutline()
    Dim sIdLabel As String
    Dim sCurrentNumber As String
    Dim sStepNumber As String
    Dim Para As Paragraph
    Application.Templates.LoadBuildingBlocks
    'get the TAG format from user.
    sIdLabel = InputBox("Provide the TAG ID", "TS_FS_")
    sCurrentNumber = InputBox("Provide the Current number", "001")
    'get the step by which the TAG number is to be incremented everytime.
    sStepNumber = InputBox("Provide the step", "1")
    For Each Para In ActiveDocument.Paragraphs
    If Para.Range.ListParagraphs.Count = 1 Then
    Para.Range.Select
    Selection.Move wdParagraph, 1
    Selection.Comments.Add Range:=Para.Range, text:="[" & sIdLabel & sCurrentNumber & "]" & vbCrLf ' ID‘}
    sCurrentNumber = Format(Val(sCurrentNumber) + Val(sStepNumber), String(Len(sCurrentNumber), "0"))
    End If
    Next Para
    End Sub

    Hi Ashishk15,
    Since you were not able to reproduce the error every time, I suspect this issue maybe relative to the context of document you were handling.
    I am also trying to reproduce this issue in Word 2013 however failed. The code works well for me like figure below:
    >>2.) sometimes I get a runtime error 4605 'This command is not available' for line "Selection.Comments.Add Range:=Para.Range, text:="[" & sIdLabel & sCurrentNumber & "]" & vbCrLf  ' ID‘}"<<
    What's version of Word are you using and the exact error message? Can you add the comment manually? If yes, would you mind sharing with us a reproducible document to help us narrow down this issue.
    Regards & Fei

  • Elements Editor keeps crashing on Windows 7 - any suggestions?

    Editor keeps crashing on launsh.  My PC runs Windows 7.  Has anyone experienced the same problem and found a fix?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I would like to know whether organiser or editor crashes ?
    If its organiser then there is something related to Catalog.
    Try these steps :
    1. Goto this location : C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\  -- (program data is hidden folder by default , you will need to unhide it)
    2. Under this location you will find all the catalogs that were created by you
    3. Choose your default catalog.
    4. In that select and delete all the folders except Breezedata and file with extension .pse8db
    5. Relauch your organiser and then check if its stil crashing.
    Thanks,
    Baljeet

  • Action Item causes Design Editor to crash

    Dear All,
    I faced a problem that I couldn't find a solution for neither here, nor at Metalink.
    Then after several trial and error, tedious efforts, I found the solution for it, and thought I'd share this knowledge with everyone.
    When adding an action item to a module component, if the "Relative Tab Stop Editor" is set to Parent, the Design Editor will crash while trying to generate the form, without any error message, it will just close.
    You have to set the "Relative Tab Stop Editor" for the module (sub module) component to None or Self.
    I hope that this would help someone, and if anyone finds that I was mistaken in my findings, please let me know.
    p.s. I was using Design Editor ver. 9.0.4.5.6 which I believe is the latest with no additional patches required.

    If you have changed a number of objects in diagrams, you need to click on Edit, Requery All, so that any changes will be committed and retrieve the latest objects from the central repository. If you do not requery, it sometimes exit Designer during run-time.

  • Runtime error in photoshop9 editor

    I do not know how to navigate to C:\ProgramsData\Adobe\PhotoshopElements\9.0\Locale\en\-us\
    So i can change the name to MediaDatabase.old
    which supposedly will correct my runtime error--

    You need to enable the showing of hidden files and folders in the folder options to be able to see the ProgramData files.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=windows-7
    or
    Windows Logo+R (opens run command dialog)
    Paste the following in the dialog and press enter
    RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Options_RunDLL 7
    Then check Show hidden files, folders and drives

    After I've imported a jpeg file into the organizer I click on the editor and it opens then as soon as the picture is there it turns off completely.  What could be causing it to crash all the time?  It worked well for the first few weeks.

    Hi sharlew58,\

  • Elements editor 13 crash weekly

    The editor of Elements 13 crashes every week especially when using the Clone stamp, Spot healing brush tools and croping repeatadly. All of a sudden the display just freezes and nothing happens. The crop tool windows goes black. Is there a problem with my Catalog cache size? My Catalog is 120.9 MB, the Catalog Cache size i 1.3GB. My built-in-memory is 6GB. Loaded ver.13 Sep-29.

    Are you using Yosemite on a mac? If so, update to 10.10.1.
    Otherwise, go to the editor preferences>general, click this button and restart the editor:
    Otherwise, the size of your catalog shouldn't have any effect on the editor except when it's still building the thumbnails.

  • I keep on getting a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error on Elements 9.

    I've had this since 2012 and haven't had an issue until last night.  I've tried restarting my computer and opening Elements in different ways (directly, through shortcut, and indirectly through a picture).  I can't get it to work, and it's now telling me to contact "the application's support team for more information."  What should I do?
