Runtime error in 32-bit Windows 7

When installing InDesign CS6 on a 32-bit Windows 7 PC, opening the file gives the following error message:
Half a year ago or so I was told that this problem was acknowledged, but none of the updates has fixed it. The same holds true, but the way, for the Photoshop and Illustrator, which came with the Design Suite.
The only way to get the programs to "run" is  "Open as Administrator," but several features don't work right. For instance, files cannot be dragged in.
Is there any chance this problem is being addressed??

Sounds like you are asking about InDesign, not Acrobat. If it was Acrobat, then what version (including sub-version)? CS6 means little to me, though it does contain a version of AA -- AA9 or AAX, I am not sure. Have you updated the product? If InDesign or other product, ask in that forum.

Epson Stylus Pro 9800 errors on 32-bit Windows 7 with Adobe CS4
Question: We are experiencing some major errors with printing to our Epson Stylus 9800 Pro. Some of our large files are spooling about 16K, then crashing Photoshop. Sometimes we are getting partial prints (the left most 3-4 inches of print, or the file starting to print about 1/2 way into the file itself), sometimes it just spools for a few minutes, then stops, with nothing coming from the printer at all.
At Epson's request, we have tried the following:
    reinstalling Windows 7 print driver
    Reinstalling Adobe CS 4
    Installed NEW NIC in printer
Installed new network line to printer
Installed new main board on printer
Printed from a PC directly connected to printer via USB and crossover cable
This issue is very bizarre in that it is random and sporatic. Same file will cause one of the above errors, then, another attempt to print same file will be successful. We have several Windows 7 machines that get the issue, while several Windows XP machines are fine. Epson instructed us to install the newest (win7) driver on the XP machines, issue then affects XP machines. Uninstalling new driver and re-installing old driver on XP machines resolves issue on XP machines.
Is this an issue with the Epson driver? CS4 on Windows 7? Or some other malady?

  • Crdb_dao.dll error on 64 bit Windows 2008 Server

We are using VS2008 to develop enterprise solutions for our customers. We have recently had support calls from our customers installing our solution on 64 bit WIndows Server 2008 machines reporting errors when displaying embedded Crystal Reports.
The error is "Failed to load database information. Details: The database DLL 'crdb_dao.dll' could not be loaded. Error in file C:\Users........rpt: Failed to load database information"
This error only occurs in the 64 bit environment and only occurs when the report is being passed a datasource at runtime, having been developed using a different source. eg: The report is developed based on an Excel Spreadsheet and then passed a runtime DataTable to populate the report at runtime.
We have setup a test environment and replicated this error. The test machine is using the 64 bit Crystal runtime.
Any help would be appreciated as this issue is getting hot now with more customers using 64 bit environments and over 100 of our reports being affected by this error.
    Thanks,
    Scott.

    Hi Ludek,
Thanks very much for your info and help.
Unfortunately I still haven't been able to resolve this issue.
    I have installed the SP.
I have also run the modules utility, which unfortunately does not work on the 64 bit machine.
I did notice in running it on a 32 bit machine that my test report is loading crdb_dao.dll, which is the same dll that the 64 bit machine is trying to load when the error occurs.
I am wondering if it is possible that the 64 bit Crystal runtime does not include this dll because a search of the files on the 64 bit machine fails to find a file by that name.
In actual fact, on further investigation I have now found that the Crystal 64 bit runtime throws this error for any report based on a spreadsheet file, even if that spreadsheet is accessible from the 64 bit machine, so it appears to be a bug in the Crystal 64 bit runtime.
    Regards,
    Scott.

What combination of compile and run time is needed to get around this issue?
See [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567] wiki. I think I may not have that wiki updated up to FP2.5, so the FP2.5 msm is here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100002975182010E/cr2008fp25_mm.zip
    msi is here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100002975312010E/cr2008fp25_redist.zip
Check the version of the CR assemblies referenced in your project. The use the wiki above to deploy the correct runtime.

  • Bitlocker error on 32 bit Windows 7

    Hello,
I recently encrypted an external hard drive using bitlocker. It works fine on the 32 bit version of Windows 7 but whenever I plug it into two other computers I get the following error:
    E:\ is not accessible.
    Access is denied.
These are 64 bit machines. Also, I was playing around with the security permissions for the drive on the laptop where the drive works. If this affected it is there a way to revert the permissions to a previous state?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Since the hard drive was encrypted by Bitlocker, it would unable to be access when connect to other computer except you decrypt it with password or Recovery key.
You can refer to the contents of the link below for more details about using Manage-bde command to decrypt drive:

  • Cannot open SQL Server error on 64 bit Windows 7

I have a client running a Crystal 8.5 report that includes an embedded subreport.  The subreport based on a second database is not updating and sometimes the report reports an error "Cannot open SQL Server".
The database is open and available, and the report works on a 32-bit XP machine on the same database with the exact same report on the same network.
The report works on my development machine with the clients database and the exact same report (my system is Windows 7 32-bit) - different office setup.
Because the report only has problems on the 64-bit, I am wondering if there is a pathing problem from the Program files (x86) or some such issue.
I have copied the files in the c:\Windows\Crystal directory to the c:\Windows\system32 directory.  I've come across issues with Terminal Services that required this in the past.
If it matters, the main report is based on the MS Text Driver running off csv files and the subreport is based on a MySQL database using the 3.51 ODBC driver.
Does anyone know any issues and/or solutions related to running Crystal/32 bit programs on a 64 bit system?
    TIA, rasinc.

CR 8.5 is not supported on 64 bit OS's or ANY Terminal Servers.
The location for 32 bit applications on a 64 bit OS is \windows\syswow64.

  • Oracle install error 10g 64 bit windows

    Hi
My operating system is : Windows 7 64-bit, and i have downloaded oracle 10g 64-bit for windows, however when i double click to the install icon, i get the error:
checking operating system version: must be 5.1 or 5.2. Actual 6.1 Failed <<<<

What should i do? Didn't i download the right software??? , I use windows 7 64-bit therefore i have downloaded oracle windows 64-bit
    pls help me. Thanks.

Currently, no Oracle software is certified to be installed on Win7. If you use the "search" feature on this forum, you will find that others have managed to hack the install. If you want a supported platform/install, use a certified OS that is listed in the 10.2.0.4 Installation Guide at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15681/reqs.htm#CHDHGGFE

  • Windows 7 Error Message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error.... Followed by Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working

I am running a system that is not quite 6 months old, which is loaded with Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit.
The error message that I get is as follows: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.  Runtime error!  Program C:\windows\Explorer.exe.  This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the
application's support team for more information.
Once I respond to that message, I get a message that says "Windows Explorer has stopped working.  Then I get "Windows Explorer is re-starting"
I don't know if the next event is related - today, immediately after getting the message above, I got a pop-up that said "An update to Adobe Flash Player is available" - and I am given the option of installing it or not.  Today, I did not install
the update - although I recall having accepted this update in the past (again, I don't know if the two situations always occur together).
Is there some help I can be provided to correct this problem?  I have looked at several related topics in this database, but have not found anything that seems to directly relate to my question.
       Thanks!    Mark

Did you try to reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable

What about to boot the computer in safe mode and Clean Boot to test this issue?

    Hello,
    I made a C3PO with C#, everything works fine until i close the GroupWise Client (8.0.2, Win 7 , 32 Bit). 2 seconds after closing, I get a GroupWise-MessageBox: 'Runtime Error 217'.
The Windows Event Log says the error occured in the Kernelbase.dll.
Did anyone have this error some time and knows how to fix this?

    Hi Sankar,
Clearly RFC destination WORKFLOW_LOCAL_250 doesnot exist. But please don't create it directly using Sm59.
Log into client 250 and go to transaction SWU3. Here you will get option for creating RFC destination making use of user WF-BATCH. In case there is workflow expert in your project take his help.
Once this is done this dump should not come.

  • Runtime Error in Restorewiz.exe

    Hi -
Can anyone offer a solution for the following error:
    Runtime Error!
    Program:c:\\Windows\SMINST\RESTOREWIZ.EXE
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
System crashed and I really need to recover my files but I can't seem to find a way around this error.
    Thanks much!!!

I know this is an old post, and this may not work for everyone, but I wanted to add the solution that allowed me to get past a runtime error that may or may not be related...
I had to run a checkdisk on the entire hard drive (all partitions including recovery). The checkdisk utility is included on most Windows recovery CDs and is a command-line program.
In my case, the hard drive was failing, so I cloned all readable data to a new drive and then could not run the recovery, even though the recovery sector of the hard drive copied with no data loss using Clonezilla.
Using checkdisk, I had to force-repair, which means some data loss and losing some files, but since I was attempting to do a full recovery anyway, it didn't really matter too much.
If anyone has this issue, look up some guides on checkdisk online, my syntax (** which MAY CAUSE DATA LOSS **) was:
    *** MAY CAUSE DATA LOSS***
    chkdsk /R /F /I D:
    chkdsk /R /F /I C:
    chkdsk /R /F /I E:
    *** MAY CAUSE DATA LOSS***
I had to do one checkdisk for each partition (C: - boot, D: - Windows install, E: - Recovery) of my drive. It took nearly nine hours for the whole drive to complete as many indexes were broken after cloning the bad data to my new drive.
That said, once doing the checkdisk options, I no longer received the C++ runtime error.
    I hope this helps someone!
