Runtime Error loading Crystal Reports 2008
Hi there
I have recently purchased online in the sap site the bundled product that includes SAP Crystal Reports and SAP Crystal Dashboard Design on the sap website. For those I received only one key code
I downloaded both products and manage to installed and load SAP Crystal Dashboard Design. I have installed SAP Crystal Reports (CR2008LPs_02142011.exe) everything goes well. When I start the program it loads for a second and then I get the following error:
u201C Runtime Error!
Program: c:\Program Files\Businessu2026
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application support team for more information.u201D
My OS is Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit
I have tried the following:
u2022 Uninstalling and reinstalling again
u2022 Downloading the file again from the sap site in case the file was corrupted
u2022 I have uninstalled CR and download the SAP Crystal Reports trial version from SAP site
u2022 Trying to navigate to the registry to clear the registry for recent files (as I have seen in this thread Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime Error) . I get the following error message when I click on u201CHKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Business Objects/Suite 12.0/Crystal Reports/Recent Filesu201D. Error:
"Error opening Hey:
Crystal Reports cannot be opened
An error is preventing this key from being opened
Details: Access is denied"
I have been unsuccessful with all the above.
I would appreciate if someone could help.
Thanks in advance and regards,
Santiago
Hi Santiago,
That error suggests you are not a local PC administrator. CR installs require you use an account that can update registry keys etc.
Talk to your IT guys to give you full access to your PC or log on as the local PC Administrator and install it again.
Thank you

- What happens if you install the product by login as an Administrator?
- Is the download saved on your local drive?

Error in Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime Version = 12.2.3.467
Dear Support Team
<br />
<br />
I am making the setup for our application using InstallShield 2010.
<br />
<br />
I recently updated the crystal reports 2008 runtime to version = 12.2.3.467.
<br />
<br />
Based on this article
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Topic of the week (October 15, 2009)
<br />
Date time field is blank when using ADO .NET dataset and Crystal Reports 2008, Service Pack 2.0
<br />
This is a new issue, very specific to CR 2008 and SP 2. Date time fields are stripped out of a report (or not
<br />
visible), if a report is consuming a .NET dataset which contains a date time field. A technical escalation has been
<br />
submitted and a work-around is detailed in note number 1392258
<br />
<br />
<br />
Since DateTime Column was not getting displayed in the deployment machine when running the report.
<br />
<br />
So I downloaded the Crystal Report 2008 FP2.3 and merge module for the same and installed on my development machine
<br />
<br />
where I am making the Setup.
<br />
<br />
I am able to make the setup successfully without errors, but when I try to install the setup on the deployment machine I am getting
<br />
the errors as
<br />
<br />
Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\BusinessObjects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\CEReportSource.dll
<br />
failed to register
<br />
Same message pops up for N number of Crystal Dlls with message failed to register.
<br />
Even though as per article in your forums I am doing everything right.
<br />
I have correct Dll for VC++ 2005

Microsoft_VC80_ATL_x86.msm; version 8.0.50727.762

The same sort of errors is coming but I am doing everything right as per that article.
<br />
<br />
To Inform you further before updating crystal reports 2008 runtime to version = 12.2.3.467.
<br />
<br />
Everything was working fine, only problem was that Date Time column was not displaying at runtime on the deployment
<br />
<br />
machine.

Edited by: arshhb on Dec 29, 2009 7:11 AMDear Mr. Williams
I dont think this is the issue related to MS Installer. Still based on your suggestion I downloaded the latest MS Installer from Microsoft Website and Installed on my setup machine and made the new setup with zero errors and warning.
The deployment machine is having full rights and so there is no security issues related to installation even though to clear the confusion I installed the setup on three other xp machines the result was same even after installing the latest MS installer on those machines as well.
I wanrt to remind it again since I was facing the DATE TIME column Issue problem in reports on deployment machines so I updated the Crystal Reports TO CRFP 2.3 EXE AND MSM as mentioned in your forums regarding this known bug that if datetime column is getting from dataset then that column was not getting displayed.
From that time onwards I am unable to install the setup on the deployment machines and I am getting errors unable to register errors crystal reports dlls.
Apart from that I downloaded Crystal Reports 2008 Fix Pack 2.3 - Redist Install (cr2008_fp23_redist.zip) from the download page but i can't open it I am gettinig the error message doesnt appear to be a valid archive.
Please help me and provide me some solution regardeing the issue I am stuck with.

Report Selection Formula Error with Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Fix Pack 3.5
Hello,
My name is Carlos, and I would like to report a defect found in the Crystal Reports 2008 SP 3 Fix Pack 3.5 Runtime that is affecting the majority of our reports. As well, I would like to ask if there is a simple workaround that does not involve updating hundreds of reports.
The issue is that the runtime engine incorrectly returns the report selection formula. I have included sample code showing what I mean.
To reproduce;
1. Create a simple report that has a date range filter like:
({Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE})
AND ({Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE})
2. Create a test app as follow that loads a report using the following code:
ReportDocument rpt = null;
try
rpt = new ReportDocument();
rpt.Load("TestReport.rpt");
this.txtMessage.Text = string.Format(
"ReportSelectionFormula:{0}{1}",
Environment.NewLine,
rpt.RecordSelectionFormula);
catch (Exception ex)
this.txtMessage.Text = ex.ToString();
3. Install Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Fix Pack 3.5 Runtime [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006341772011E/cr2008fp35_redist.zip]..
4. Execute the app.
At this stage, the screen shows
ReportSelectionFormula:
( ( NOT {Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE} ) AND ( NOT {Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE} ) )
The expected value is:
ReportSelectionFormula:
( ( {Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE} ) AND ( {Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE} ) )
If we were to repeat the same test above but use the Crystal Reports 2003 SP3 runtime (i.e. no Fix Pack), which can be dowloaded from [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123592010E/cr2008sp3_redist.zip], we would get the correct report selection formula. A side-effect for this incorrect report selection formula is a runtime exception complaining about an errorkind and a boolean being expected.
Do you know if there is any workaround that I can apply in code, perhaps a different Fix Pack? Is there a Fix Pack expected to be released soon? It is not practical for us to update our reports and use a different style in the record selection formula because we have many such reports, and our customers probably have even more.
Thank you.
-Carlos.Already a known issue, here's the [KB 1584095 - A boolean NOT is added at the beginning of a record selection formula when the report is loaded by the Crystal Reports .NET SDK |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333533383334333033393335%7D.do]

HTML View Error in Crystal Report 2008 Designer
Hi,
I am getting an Error when i am trying to see the HTML Preview on the Crystal Report Designer. but, It is working Properly From CMC.
I was getting the following Error.
"Failed to access the HTML Server Page
Contact your system administrator and make sure the BOE servers are running properly/
Also make sure that the default viewer URL is set Properly in the CMC of BOE
You can set the Default Viewer URL by following Steps
1) Log into the CMC
2) Clicl the APpplication Link.
3) On the applications page Select CMC, CLcik the Manage menu, A=and Select Processing Settings.
4) In the set default viewerURL, the URL Should be similarto the fllowing:
http://[hostname]:[portnumber]/OpenDocument/Opendoc/OpenDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&IDocID=O%SI_CUID%"
Kindly let me know how to resolve this issue. It was working properly. Thanks for your support in advance.
Regards
Shiva,It is still an issue for me. I have a new install and am using WebElements to improve my reports. I am new to 2008 Server (OEM version) so it's probably something very basic. When I do a submit it shows a path of:
BOE/OpenDocument/Opendoc/OpenDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&IDocID=O%SI_CUID%
I don't even have a BOE folder. My setting as instructed on the page is correct. I have tried making changes but then the HTML preview doesn't even load the 1st page. That leads me to believe that the link is correct regardless of what debug says. Unlike other posts I have seen, my pages do not work in InfoView. After hitting submit I get:
http//servicedeskcrs:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=rpt@sDocName=Resolution%20Report.rpt&lsSSelect1=1
Notice that there is no : after http. I have a feeling it is in a setting somewhere but I can't find it. -

The version of Crystal Reports is an evaluation version with Service Pack 2 on it (version = 12.0.0.840).
When I install the same Crystal Report version on the client, the error doesn't occurs.
What could be wrong on the server.?Please post this query to the Crystal Reports Design forum:

Crystal reports 2008 sp3 : An error has occurred while attempting to load t
Hello,
Please forgive me for posting in the CR .NET forum because we are using the full Crystal Reports 2008 product and I did not see a category for it. If there is a better forum for this question, please let me know or feel free to move it.
We are having trouble deploying our crystal reports 2008 reports to a Windows Server 2008 R2 server in an aspx application...
I have been working on this issue for 4-days and cannot seem to make any progress, so I would really appreciate your help.
Our Environment:
Development Computer (32-bit, WinXP)
VS2008 (fully updated, was not installed with its Crystal Reports feature)
Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 (downloaded and installed "cr2008_sp3_fullbuild")
Database Server (64-bit)
"SERVER2" is a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 server, fully updated
Web Server (64-bit)
"SERVER3" is a Microsoft Server 2008 R2 Web server.
We have an application that is installed on the Web server and it pulls data from the database server.
The webpages are accessing the database properly. There is a ShowReport.aspx webpage that has the
CrystalReportsViewer on it. We send parameters and logon information to ShowReport.aspx. ShowReport
works properly on our development computer and the report looks good, but it fails on the web server.
We downloaded CRRuntime_12_3_mlb.msi (X86) from SAP/CR and installed it on the web server without any issues.
Our application pool on the web server for this application is set to 32-bit mode. When I launch the
application, it works properly with the database and displays data on web pages, but when I try to
view a report on ShowReport, I get the following error message:
An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime.
Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly.
Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) that contains the version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) that is required.
According to everything that I have read, I have properly matched the DLLs: On the development computer, "cr2008_sp3_fullbuild" was installed; On
the web server, "CRRuntime_12_3_mlb.msi (X86)" was installed. They are both Crystal Reports 2008 and not .NET. CR.NET was not installed on our development computer, so our application was built with full Crystal Reports 2008 SP3. On our development computer, .ENGINE is 12.0.2000.0 and
the same version is on the web server.
So, I am completely at a loss as to why we are encountering this error. Help, Please!!!
Thank you in advance,
MikeHi Mike,
Did you set your project for X86 mode only? If not do so and rebuild and deploy your app.
Thank you

Crystal Reports 2008 runtime error while running on Windows Server X64

See [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567] wiki. I think I may not have that wiki updated up to FP2.5, so the FP2.5 msm is here:

msi is here:

Check the version of the CR assemblies referenced in your project. The use the wiki above to deploy the correct runtime.

Crystal Reports 2008 - Report Load error - Memory Leak Error?
Hello
<br>
We have a problem with Crystal Reports 2008 with .NET 2.0.
<br>
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=12.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304
<br>
The problem is that during high amount of report producing, errors in eventlog pops up and the production of reports using <br>
Crystal Reports stops.
<br>
Below are examples of the three most common event logs.
<br>
We have tried to implement a cleanup method both as a destructor (with a global ReportDocument rdoc variable) and using direct call to cleanUpDoc() method when finished with loading doc:
<br>
~IOServerClass()
<br>
<br>
cleanupDoc();
<br>
<br>
<br>
private void cleanupDoc()
<br>
<br>
try
<br>
<br>
if (rdoc != null)
<br>
<br>
rdoc.Close();
<br>
rdoc.Dispose();
<br>
rdoc = null;
<br>
<br>
this.CleanGlobalEvents();
<br>
System.GC.Collect();
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
The doc is loading using the "normal" method (in-process).
<br>
<br>
try
<br>
<br>
rdoc = new ReportDocument();
<br>
rdoc.Load(fullpathandreport);
<br>
<br>
catch (Exception ex)
<br>
<br>
cleanupDoc();
<br>
<br>
...process doc....
<br>
cleanupDoc();
<br>
<br>
Furthermore we have tried during Scalable tests of the system - but cannot produce the below errors ourselves. Only the customer can.
<br>
Please help with solving this problem.
Is the above advisable to do?
Should the document be loaded in another way?
Is it a memory leak?
<br>
Regards
Kristian

First, ensure you have the latest service pack / hot fix for your version of Crystal Reports, and that the client has the same updates as well. Fix Pack 2.4 is the current latest, and can be downloaded from our downloads section.
One of the errors is the Background Processing error, so have a look at the following article:

Crystal Reports 2008 Trial Version Runtime Error
Hello
Yesterday I've downloaded Crystal Reports 2008 (Trial Version). The installation was successful. I've got no error.
Anyway, I'm unable to start Crystal Reports. I get the following error:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime LIbrary
Runtime Error!
Program: ...ects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32x86\crw32.exe
Abnormal Program Termination
I've already tried all "solutions" mentioned in Re: Crystal Reports 2008 trial version ERROR (DEP, HW acceleration, etc.) but without success (I'm running Windows XP with SP2). I've also updated Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 resp. 2008 redistributables...
Can someone help me?
Thank you!Hi Patrick,
Nothing Strange about it. You need local Admin rights to access registry and other parts and CR needs the same.
Check anti-virus or possibly firewall settings. When you installed did the installer ask you to allow All users to run CR?
You may want to check with your IT guys, they may have modified your local user group to not allow some rights.
Bottom kine is your PC security is blocking access that CR needs under your local user account.
When you do try to run it does UAC pop up a message to allow you to run CR Designer? If not then it may be you have customer settings for that also.
Search Microsofts site on more info on user rights.
Thanks

An error has occurred while attempting to load crystal report runtime 64
I am using Crystal Report 2008. Visual Studio 2008 Professional on a SQL Server 2005 X64 SP2
with .NET 3.5 SP1 beta framework
This problem happens in X64 environment only. I tried everything I Can find in the web:
1) run the crredist2008_x64 and X86.msi, same error
2) run this command
cscript %SystemDrive%\inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs set w3svc/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1
and it said 'Service Unavailable' when accessing the page.
3) attempting to change target platform to X86 to run on the 64 bit OS. I have the following problems.
A) the configuration manager only have .NET as the platform. I cannot change it to X86
B) There is no project
file (any files ends with .proj) where I can modify manually to change the target platform. (I created website,not project from VS 2008)
Running the debug version (Control F5) from VS 2008 has no problem.
Please helpWhat assembly version of the dlls are you using (10.5 or 12.0)?
If you are using the 10.5 then you would need to run the 64 bit runtime installer for Crystal Reports Basic for VS.NET 2008.
If you are using the 12.0 then you will need to install the 32 bit runtimes for CR 2008 and change the application to run in x86 only mode.
Here is the note that covers that (it was written for XI R2, but applies to CR 2008 as well)
