Runtime error when I start iTunes??

When I open my iTunes, I keep getting an error message of: This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I can't figure it out or what to do. Can someone help??
Thanks!

Hi everyone. This seems to a a problem with the Apple
Updater program. If you rename file C:\Program
Files\Apple Software Update\SoftwareUpdate.exe to say
C:\Program Files\Apple Software
Update\__SoftwareUpdate.exe or any thing else the
problem seems to go away. Then after iTunes has
started you can close iTunes, and return the file to
its original name and everything works fine.
I downloaded iTunes 7.3 update and the Runtime error
went away but now I have a different problem.
---My podcasts haven't updated since 6/25/07;so, I
clicked on "Get" on one of them to see if that works:
nope. It goes on forever.
--I tried "Refresh" podcast directory but nothing
happened.
--I tried quitting but it wouldn't let me. I did the
CTRLALTDELETE and ended the process. Now I can't
even run iTunes! It won't open.
---Brian, I'm hoping your advice will help me also, but
I have a basic question: how/where do I change the name
of the SoftwareUpdate.exe? I know you listed the
pathway, but I'd have no trouble getting to it if it
were a Mac but I have no idea with this PC.

  • Runtime error when trying update Itunes

When I try to open iTunes, I get the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error R6034.  I tried to repair iTunes, but received the same error.  I uninstalled iTunes and tried to re-install it, but am still receiving the same error code.  How can I fix this error?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Message error when i start itunes

Whenever I try and start itunes it says "The folder iTunes cannot be found or created. The default location for this folder is in the My Music folder." I've reinstalled it in the my music folder, where my iTunes folder is. Doesn't work. I've deleted the entire folder and reinstalled and it still doesn't work. I've gone back to itunes 6 and nothing is working for me. This is so frustrating.

the best place to start with that message is with the following document:
iTunes for Windows: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes
... but if you run into the complication where "My Music" doesn't appear as an option in TweakUI, perhaps try the alternate technique described in this Nigel Carpenter post:

  • I get a runtime error when attempting to search the store in Itunes.  I unistalled and reloaded. How can I fix this?

I just began getting a runtime error when attempting to search the iTunes store.
I uninstalled and reinstalled but, it's still happening.
How can I fix this so I can start to buy music again?

I have the same error, but I think we will get no solution for this problem.
You've get no answer here and the Apple support also doesn't send an answer how to solve the problem.
BTW I have also Windows 7 and the newest version of iTunes 64-bit.

  • Runtime Error when starting Lightroom

I'm currently on day 12 or so of my trial with Lightroom. I've spent quite a few hours getting to know LR by retouching and cataloging over 8 years of photos. So far, aside from a few in-program bugs that I found a way to work around, I've been super-happy with it (especially the powerful keywording/metatagging system: amazing!) and have been really seriously coughing up the huge wad of $$ when the trial's done. But....
For no reason, LR started giving me a Runtime Error when I tried to start it. Something along the lines of "This application requested Runtime to terminate it unusually."
So off to Google I went, where I knew I could probably search that error and fix it like I've done with countless other programs. Unfortunately nothing is working.
    Here are the facts:
--I'm running a fully patched Vista machine.
--LR worked fine earlier this morning. I had 1.4 and didn't perform any upgrades or maintenance to it (that I know of) when it just gave me the error out of the blue today when I tried to start it.
--I tried holding CTRL when I start it, and it still gives the error.
--I tried deleting a .lock file (which did exist) but it still wouldn't start.
--I tried running the "repair" tool in the install...no good.
--I uninstalled LR, d/led it again, and re-installed it. IT WORKED!....one time. I was able to run it, checked to make sure my cataloging was still intact (it was - phew!) and even deleted a folder I didn't want in it. Then I closed it. I tried re-opening it a few hours later and I got the SAME ERROR!
I sure hope someone can help because I'm at my wit's end.

This is disgusting. I've pounded away for over 4 hours and I finally found a workaround. Here's the original post that had my answer:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c05ac2f
The short of the story: if I put lightroom.exe into Windows XP compatibility mode" it will work. (To do that, for anyone else who comes across this, you just right-click your lightroom icon, click PROPERTIES, and go to the Compatibility tab and check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)")
I've loaded it up half a dozen times and it's still working perfectly as far as I can tell. Hopefully it won't hurt anything keeping it in that mode.
I'm glad this happened early enough into my trial that I'll have ample opportunity to see if it repeats itself. I'm not keen on sinking $300 into software that will give me ulcers as I troubleshoot problems like this.

  • TS1389 I have the error 42111 when I start iTunes.

Hello, I have the error 42111 when I start iTunes. I did not download a movie, I just installed the newest version of iTunes. I reinstalled but that didin't help. What can I do? I have Windows 8.

Removing the SC Info folder as per the "Error 3001," "-42110," or "5103" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document seems to help most folks reporting the iTunes launch 42110s:

  • I get a runtime error when I try to open itunes, any help?

I get a runtime error when I try to open itunes, any help?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Not there aren't any special settings for this. You just use the Open In feature to save the document into Pages. You could have a font in the document that Pages doesn't like, maybe something that you copied and pasted from somewhere into the document that went corrupt. But there is nothing special about the way that you save a Word document into Pages. You save it like you save any document or file into a compatible app.
