Runtime errors in Roxio Media Manager 9

I am running Desktop Manager 4.5 with my 8330 curve.  I am getting runtime error for mediamanager9.exe whenever I try to use it to transfer data over to my 8330.  Any ideas to resolve this issue?

Hello,
I do not use Roxio because it is slow and non-reliable software.
I transfer files directly to my device micro-sd card.
Your device with micro-sd card inside can be recognized as a usb-flash drive.
And you can transfer files directly to the device from Windows.

  • Roxio Media Manager won't run and get error messge about C+++

Error message says Media Manager has requested Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.  Please contact suport team.  I wrote to Roxio about it and supplied screen shots of the message and their response was to contact RIM.  Typical run around.  Same problem on a different computer where I had a working version of BB Desktop Manager and then installed the new 4.7 and started to get the same problem. Would seem this is a RIM problem.  Anyone else out there that knows anything about this error or how to get past it?

  • Problem with Roxio Media Manager - Desparate for an answer

In order to get my Roxio Media Manager to work. Do I need to have access to the browser on my BB8300 Curve. I am not subscribing to the internet on my BB but I do on my computer. Could that be the reason why my Media manager is not working properly? I am desparate for an answer since I have photos on my Blackberry that I need edit and and sent off. What good is the camera if I can't take the photos off of it? I have tried uninstalling the software and then re-installing it. I still can't get the Media Manager to appear in Roxio. The one time I did get it to work, I start getting Runtime errors when I tried to bring up Media manager. Please help..All the rest of the icons..back/up, synch, etc is appearing..just can't get the Roxio Media manager to appear now.

Do you have a media card in your BlackBerry? If so, plug your BlackBerry in and enable Mass Storage Mode. Then just access the memory card from Windows Explorer. For what you want to do Roxio is overkill, and complicated.

  • Roxio media manager 9

    Hi,
Roxio Media Manager 9 was working fine up until today.  Now when i start it up, it closes straight down with an unhandled runtime application error.
    Any ideas?
Also.. is there a good file manager utility that I could use?
    thanks,
    Simon.

sibex -- I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Incidentally, I used to also not recommend Media Manager...but recently discovered that it can indeed help. I had a particular avi that would always crash my BB at the same point of playback. I switched to MM and moved the file to my BB (allowing MM to transcode it) and it now plays just fine. So there are benefits and indeed needs for MM.
As for a good file manager -- do you mean on the device itself? It has a native file explorer...not terribly powerful, but I never try to do anything native on the device that needs power...when I need that, I use USB tether and Mass Storage Mode.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Roxio Media Manager or Windows Installer

Hello all. First let me say that I am truly a novice when it comes to PC understanding. Ok, so I purchased a blackberry pearl and had to replace it. Long story short, I ended up tryign to back up my data on my pc and now I keep getting error messages..."please wait while windows installer configures roxio media manager" or something to that effect (not at my home pc right now, sorry). I had a friend come and did what I thought was a removal of BB Desktop software and a restore to a point before I had installed it, but no dice. Still have the error, but no software. Purchased an external hard drive to back up my data, but can't even do that because I get the Installer error anytime I try to install new software on the pc. Pls help.

on the blackberry.com website, you can download the Desktop Manager without Media Manager.
    less headaches.
The search box on top-right of this page is your true friend, and the public Knowledge Base too:

  • Roxio Media manager

Installed the latest version (5.0) of BB Desktop. It then downloaded and installed Roxio Media Manager, which always opens up trying to configure itself, and gives the error "Unrecognized character in the My Pictures path". Did a search of the registry, but all paths seem OK, they actually point to the correct folder (D:\My Pictures). Any suggestions?

The current Desktop software has a file browser.

  • Can't install or uninstall Desktop software and Roxio Media Manager has taken over

I had been having trouble with the Blackberry Desktop software crashing each time I closed it when I was done using it. This morning when I booted my computer I got an error message that said RoxWatchTray9 was unable to locate component. When I tried to close that box it attempted to install something but it just stalls. When I close try to cancel it just freezes. After while it tries to install again only to freeze again.
I figured the best solution would be to uninstall and reinstall the program but when I went into Add/Remove I discovered six listings for Blackberry Device Software for Blackberry 9530 smartphone, one for v5.0 and five for v4.7.0. I finally managed to uninstall the v5.0 at the top of the list but I can't remove the other five. I also can't reinstall the program. Roxio Media Manager continues attempting to force an install and is hogging my system resources. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

  • Desktop Manager 5.0 / Roxio Media Manager Fail to Install

I am getting error 1904 module when trying to install Desktop Manager 5.0 (see errors below). I am the administrator on this laptop (hpdv8130us).
I have tried the solution where you create a reset.cmd via notepad. Result was the same.
Also, I tried a clean installation and still receive the same errors.
If I hit okay to the errors the next step is that it tries to install Roxio Media Manager and that hangs after the progress bar is complete (I let it sit for 4 hours). When I go to cancel Roxio Media Manger, it also hangs there as well. The only to get past this screen was to enter task manager and end the "dumprep.exe" process. While this gets me past the hangs/freezes, when I start DM5 it works but when I go to start Media Manager, it opens but doesn't load, the computer still runs albeit slowly because Roxio is now using 85-95% of system resources.
Running Windows XP with the latest service pack.
These are the errors I receive when trying to install Desktop Manager 5.0

Hello qwick and welcome to the forums!
It sounds to me like the installer is having trouble registering some required dlls.  This article might help you out with this issue.
Also, do you know if you already have any Roxio Media Managers installed on your computer?  Did you have a previous version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager installed and if so, did you uninstall it before installing this new one or install the new one without uninstalling the previous version?
hope to hear from you soon

  • Roxio Media Manager Installation Problem

My Desktop Manager recently updated itself to version 5.   Shortlly therafter I started to get error messages from Window's Installer trying to configure  Roxio Media Manager and not finding a particular roxio media manager .msi file.  This is a very insistent installation routine because no amount of "cancel" or rebooting eliminates the process.  Very frustrating.  The error message is prompting me for an alternate path to the folder containing the installation package but my browing is not finding it.  Maybe it's somewhere else?
What do I need to do to either abort this installation or complete it?   I really don't care either way, since I don't use Media Manager much.  Thanks in advance for your help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you don't use media manager, I suggest removing it entirely. In my experience it has caused issues with the desktop manager software. I would uninstall the desktop manager from your computer first. Uninstall the Blackberry Destkop Manager (DTM) using this guide: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
Then, Download Blackberry Desktop Manager over here (without media manager): https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Install it and hopefully everything runs fine again. Be sure to reconfigure your sync settings if you use them.

  • Roxio Media Manager Install Problem

I get the following error message when I try to run Roxio Media Manager from the Desktop Software:
"MediaManager9Module has stopped working correctly.  A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you when a solution is available."
I have done a lot of reading about this problem and most of the time users just tell the poster to use their Blackberry as a mass storage device.  If they do that they won't need Roxio Media Manager.  I want to use the Roxio because I have a lot of pictures and it's easier to upload them to the blackberry using Roxio - it utilizes a split screen with your computer pictures on top and your blackberry folders on the bottom... then as you browse through your pictures you just say "Copy down" and the picture goes to whatever folder you specify on the Blackberry.  I just got a 4GB stick to hold all my photos so believe me the Roxio technique is far faster for me.  I have successfully installed Roxio on my work computer a Dell XPS - it was a trial as well.  I had to uninstall everything and completely remove all "Roxio" files including the registry.  This did not work for the Acer though which is my home computer.  Right now the Acer has 4.5 installed (Roxio Media Manager did install) but when I try to click to access Roxio I get the above mentioned error message.
There are obviously a lot of people out there with this problem and no answer from Roxio or Blackberry (I called Blackberry who passed me off to Roxio who wanted me to PAY.)  I also tried contacting Roxio via email from their Roxio website - they said contact Blackberry... thus I get the runaround.  I just got this Blackberry (it cost me $432.) you would think something that expensive would come with software that... I don't know, works.  And if i didn't they would offer some kind of tech help here.  Totally pathetic.
    Hoping somebody has some insight....
    Sandy
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Uninstalling and deleting all folders/files and registry entries named, RIM, Research in Motion, Roxio and Sonic worked to get Roxio Media Manager successfully installed and running on my Dell.  I had some “trial” version of Roxio on my computer that came with it when I bought it and when it expired it created problems when installing Roxio Medica manager.
That was not the problem and not the solution to get Roxio Media Manager installed and running on my Acer.  I tried the above, but I kept getting error messages after restart upon installing Desktop Manager due to some Roxio problem (I just didn’t know what.)  I would also get error messages when I tried to access Roxio from the Desktop Manager.   When I installed Desktop Manager on the Dell I used “Run as administrator” for the install but I do not have to right click and hit “Run as Administrator” every time I launch that program on the Dell to get any feature of it to run correctly including Roxio.  I do for the Acer – that was the problem… but it took some tweaking to get that to happen.  When I right click and hit “Run as Administrator” on the Acer the Desktop Manager would launch and it was able to read my blackberry when I plugged it in off the main menu.  But when I went to any other feature off the main menu, like Sync or Roxio, it would not read the Blackberry – in the top left corner of the program it went from “Connected” to “Disconnected.”  It also crashed the program several times and I had to bring up the Task Manager to quit the program because it had become “non-responsive.”  The only part of the Desktop manager (after trying repeatedly) that was able to still read the blackberry when I selected “Run as Administrator” was the “Add/Remove Applications” feature.  After it starting “seeing” the Blackberry from the Applications part the program I was able to go into Sync, and Roxio with it still able to “see” the Blackberry.  Then I was able to successfully run the Roxio part of the desktop manager.  Odd I know…
Both the Dell and the Acer run Vista Home Premium.  There were 2 separate problems causing Roxio to not install or run correctly.  Both problems should have been addressed by Blackberry or Roxio.  As I mentioned, I just bought this Blackberry and it cost me $432 – I am still somewhat in shock that a product that expensive comes with software that is literally up to the user to figure out how to run.  That there is no way to get Roxio or Blackberry to respond themselves with a fix for this common problem is unbelievable.  That we the user have to spend hour after hour troubleshooting when we should be enjoying our new blackberry is pathetic.  I feel like the company just said,  “Here, you figure it out.”  Nice, huh?
The Desktop Manager (including all its features) should be available to all Blackberry users… then each individual can make a knowledgeable decision as to which program, either Desktop Manager or using “Mass Storage Device” is the easiest or more efficient for them.
Hope this helps… just trying to pass along what worked for me…

  • Roxio Media Manager keeps re-installing itself

The Roxio Media Manager on my PC keeps trying to reinstall itself.  In the past I would leave the Blackberry software CD in the drive and it would take care of it (removing the CD from the drive brought back the error).  I just updated to BB software version 4.5 and I am now getting the Roxio Media Manager installer window constantly, even with the CD present.
It is looking for the Roxio Media Manager.msi file which is on the CD.
I cancel and the window pops right back up.
I tried uninstalling the Media Manager but I can't do it because this installer process always seems to be running in the background and cannot be killed.
Any advice on how to resolve this??

  • ROXIO MEDIA MANAGER - Desktop manager

Just got my Storm 9530! All is good except when installing Desktop Manager 4.7 the installation process stops when it tries to install Roxio Media Manger. near the end of the installation I get this window:
Roxio Media Manager Error 1402 Could not Open Key\comctlistview\ctrl1/clsid
    and it backs out
I have tried several times to remove and install with no success. I have closed Norton utilities and windows firewall still got the same message. The SYNC portion is installed anmd working, but not the Media manager, which means I can't download photos form my PC. I run XP.
I also removed and reinstalled with Bell's version of the SW. No success either!
Bell was no help and said it's not their problem!
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks much

Xandrex is correct. DTM can be installed without the Media portion and you can download media, photos, music ect, from your computer to the media card.
I don't give up easy and after being jerked around by Bell, I decided to see what Microsoft could do, since it looked to me like more of an OS problem.
Here is what MS came back with and it resolved the issue for me!
According to the error message, the most likely cause is that the current user account does not have the correct permissions to access related folders and registry keys.
I suggest we first try the steps below to reset the default permission on those folders and registry keys:
    1. Save the attachment of the email to your Desktop.
    2. Right click on the "Reset_subinacl.ZIP file" and choose "Extract"
    3. Follow the instructions to extract the files to your Desktop. There will be two files (reset.cmd and subinacl.exe) extracted.
    4. Double click the reset.cmd file
    5. You will see a DOS-like window processing.
Note: It may take several minutes, please be patient. When it is finished, you will receive a message stating "Finished, press any key to continue".
After the above steps are finished, let's try to install Desktop Manager 4.7 again.
If the issue still persist, we need to temporarily uninstall Norton program via Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and try again.
Your time and efforts are highly appreciated. Please take your time in trying my suggestions and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. If you need any other assistance, please feel free to let me know and I will try my best to be of assistance.
I look forward to your reply.

I suggest that you contact MS yourself and get them to debug your problem. If you do by Email, it takes alittle longer but it's free!
