Russian Cyrillic problem

Hello!
I develop RIA, and me need provide russian language, but if I
input chars in any components, I has this: [][][][][][] (boxes).
How I can resolve this problem?

what 'problem message' ? on the pc (outlook)
everything is fine ...
I meant the message which is a problem on the Mac.
the thing is, i moved all my mail from outlook to
apple mail today (via O2M), everything worked fine,
but i cannot read the mails that are in russian...
Do you have problems with the Russian emails you receive directly in Apple Mail, or only with the ones you moved via O2M? O2M has this on their web page: "While many non-English characters are successfully converted with O2M, Little Machines does not guarantee the successful conversion of languages other than English."

Very strange! There is of course one word which you can in fact read, namely веб at the upper left, the only one which is not a link of some sort. Could you provide another example where the site is showing text and not links?

  • Russian / Cyrillic tag encoding problems in iTunes 6

    Hello,
I had an older version of iTunes (I think it may have been 4, not sure...) on my older PC. I have several thousand Russian music files, and spent considerable time cleaning up all the tags so that my Russian songs would be in Cyrillic and my English songs in English...
My old PC crashed and I purchased a new Windows laptop. I downloaded iTunes 6 for Windows and loaded up my old iTunes library. Everything in Cyrillic showed up fine to begin with, but I noticed that for some songs, as soon as they are selected in iTunes the Cyrillic tag encoding turns into gibberish (of the accented-European-vowels sort.) I have tried using the "convert id3 tags" tool in every combination imaginable and it is not fixing the problems.
I've searched a bit in the forums and on the internet for advice on fixing the problem - most suggest just re-tagging each song manually. That's a frustrating option, as there are several thousand of them, and as soon as I select them to re-tag them, they turn to gibbersih and thus I lose the information and don't know what to retag them with... some of them I am much less familiar with and don't know who the artist is, etc., just by listening.
iTunes 6 for Mac apparantly has the same problem, but there appears to be a converter available for iTunes for Mac at http://rumac.blogspot.com/2005/08/itunes.html
Has anyone found a solution to this problem for the Windows version?
    Thanks,

  • Cyrillic (Russian) Text Problems

    Hi,
I've been having a problem with a Russian site for awhile. I
have the encoding for all pages set to UTF-8. I'll make my page
with Russian characters and it will upload to the live site just
fine and I'll have no issues with it for a few months. Then I'll
check it randomly and the text for only a few pages will be all
messed up, with lots of Ds, Js, Fs, fractions... not what I saved
and checked on a month or so ago. I use templates and nested
templates for this site, and this issue only happens in editable
regions of the templates I use. And it will only happen to one or
two pages where there are 10 or so pages all based on the same
template. It has happened to the same page 3 times now.
Any suggestions on how to keep this from happening? If you
need more info to diagnose the problem let me know. I'm using CS3
and its a pretty basic HTML/CSS site.

Well, if it's not working exactly as you'd expect (select text from PDF, paste into InDesign, see Cyrillic text in ID) then there are about 80 different ways that it can go wrong. The most critical issue is that you'd need to select a font in ID that supports Cyrillic before pasting. The next most critical issue is that we have no idea how that PDF is encoded - there may be no way to get meaningful text from it without vast amounts of work.
Have you tried it yet? What happened?

  • SOLUTION: Displaying Russian/Cyrillic characters in Zen Mi

I saw a number of posts on this forum from people who couldn't get their Zen Micro to display cyrillic characters. I didn't see any messages with a solution to this so I thought it wasn't possible with the current freeware.
I am happy to report that my Zen Micro now displays russian characters without any problems.
The only thing I had to do was set the following preference:
Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced -> Language for non-Unicode Pograms
Restart your computer, and now Zen Micro Media Explorer will be able to import mp3 files with Russian characters in the ID3 tags.
I am using a regular US Windows XP Home.
    Hope this hel

unicode font too. now i think it's $99 per 5 users (though no longer available
from ms, ascender licenses it now i think). have you tried www.sil.org? also
http://unicode.org/resources/fonts.html has some listed, make sure to checkout

  • Russian font problem in Safari/mac

    Hi all.
I have a problem concerning character encoding when I use Safari under Mac.
I am a developer. All the texts in my site are shown normally, only one text group, that comes from another SQL table, isn't encoded normally (Russian letters aren't shown).
Maybe the problem is in my SQL tables? But both of the tables (the one, the text of which isn't shown, and the one, that is shown normally) have character set UTF8.
I don't know where to look for the problem...
    I would appreciate any help!
    Lili

I am actually sure that the porblem text is in UTF 8, because this is the encoding used for the SQL table, and the text is taken from this table =>concequently it has UTF-8 encoding, right?
Not necessarily. Declaring something to be a certain encoding doesn't make it so. It is not uncommon to find data entered somewhere in the wrong encoding. On a web page, you can use View > Text Encoding to switch the encoding which a browser uses to read a text and thus perhaps find out if it is something other than what it is declared. If it is practical in your case you might try the alternative cyrillic encodings available in Safari on your problem text.

  • Russian encoding problem

    Hi,
I hope you can help me.
I am writing an java application for a costumer.
To retrieve Information written in russian in a JTextField, I am using the following code:
    JTextField jTextField1 = new JTextField();
byte[] value = jTextField1.getText().getBytes("ISO-8859-5");Later I convert the byte[] into a String.
It works perfectly for me, but unfortunately my customer is running a Windows system in russian, and the application only gets "???" after converting the byte[] into a String.
I am using the String to insert it into a database.
I am not quite sure but it is possible, that the JRE of the costumer has a problem with the cyrillic letters? Is there a special version for russian?
Or is there any other possibility why it is working for me but not for my costumer?
Btw. I am running a german windows system.
    Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, I can't test the setting this way
because when I get the text I just receive question
marks. I am not sure how this works for the customer
and if.Receive where? Often these conversion errors arise in attempting to write to the console, through System.out. The default encoding used to communicate with the console will depend on the local settings of your machine.
The best test is to dump the characters in hex and compare them against the letters at www.unicode.org. Then you can distinguish whether your problem is input or output.
There's seldom a good reason for converting text to byte[] inside the program, especially if you're going to convert it back again. As long as you work with char and String Java does everything in UNICODE and there are no conversion problems. You only get problems converting to bytes and byte streams.

    I will try it, thanks.

  • Russian Translations problem with Translation Tool Package

    Hello Everybody.
I'm doing some translations and whenever I try to paste a Russian text into one of the messages in TTP, the app transforms the Russian characters into question marks. For example:
Предупреждение: Контактное лицо X не имеет связи с Бизнес-Партнером Y. Но Активность будет сохранена.
    TTP Transforms it into:
    ??????????????: ?????????? ???? X ?? ????? ????? ? ??????-????????? Y. ?? ?????????? ????? ?????????.
Did anyone come across with this problem?
Please any information would be helpful.
    Regards,
    Gerardo

    Hello
It looks like Translation Tool Package does not support russian character set and that's why it is displaying as '?' which means character is not recognized by the application.
Are you able to type the russian text in a note pad?? If you can type and text is proper, Operarting System is able to recognize russian characters, and not the TTP.
If it displays '?' in the notepad also, it means OS is not able to identify the Russian character set. In this case, you need to install the russian character set in the machine.
Can you please provide which CRM mobile release you are currently using. In case if you are using CRM 5.0 or above, you can translate the texts using Mobile Application Studio itself.

  • Russian (cyrillic) text visualization in datagrid through flex-amfphp-mysq

    Hi to all!!!
    Here's the scenario.
I've got a mysql db with several products stored in several languages (english, french, deutsch, italian and russian). The table is stored in utf8 and through phpMyAdmin or mysql GUI client I'm able to see correctly all the products in all the language (russian included).
I've also setted up remoting through amfphp. I've got a remote php object which queries the MySQL extracting all the products related to a language. On the flex side a read the remote result and I put it in a data grid  through databinding.
Everything works fine with english, french, deutsch and italian but the troubles come with russian.
In DataGrid cell, instead of the cyrillic chars, are displayed many "??????".
I've tried to elaborate the result of the query changing the string data with this php function mb_convert_encoding($row->describtion,'UTF-8','Windows-1251') but the text displayed remains the same.
    I've also tried with utf8_encode / utf8_decode.
Is there anyone who already faced this issue?
Am i doing something wrong on php side? Am I missing something on flex side?
    Any help would be appreciated!!!!
    Thanks in advance!

If you make a call to drupal, through the Actionscript Remote
Object - you have to assign it a "return" function. If you put a
breakpoint in that return function and run it you can see what the
data looks like coming out of drupal. It's usually in an Object
variable with all the properties setup to your return types.
We've had great success parsing these objects directly from
    Drupal in our actionscript code.

  • 22EL833R Russian Characters problem

I have some problems with Russian characters on Menu, teletext, guide, subtitle... The Russian "E" Letter are in most cases displayed as a question sign... Please, correct this bug

    Dear Gus,
is the database UTF-8? In that case the characters are stored correctly in the DB.
Sadly Excel cannot recognize which character set is used, so it defaults to a standard character set. We have solved this by entering a Byte Order Mark to flag the content being UTF-8. This means that at the beginning of the file three bytes are added signaling that the content should be interpreted as UTF-8 (#EFBBBF).
Excel reacts on the BOM and interpretes the characters in the right way.
To open Excel on download, replace the 'text/plain' in your code with ' application/vnd.ms-excel'.
At the start of the file you have to write the BOM. I do not know whether that is possible with http functions.
I myself create the output in a CLOB, which I convert to a BLOB prepended by the BOM bytes.
Then I use wgp_docload.download_file to download the BLOB. The response header should be written in the code, this statement only replaces the htp calls.
    Hope this helps

  • Cyrillic problems with TrayIcon menu

    Hi, developers,
I've been writing an application which has the option to minimize to tray. I've set a awt.Menu to the TrayIcon instance and all works like a charm... on my machine. I have a tester who sees square-like characters instead of cyrillic ones(the picture bellow) when he trigers the popup:
    http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/6000/55087022.jpg
My tester is using Windows XP sp3 and I'm running on Windows XP sp1. I suppose that the answer lies somewhere in the awt part - all Swing components with labels display cyrillic without any problems.
The menu labels are originally written in cyrillic. Could it be a local system issue or could I do something in my application?
    Hope you have ideas :)

Nope, I don't think your link was helpful at all :( See, I am not writing an applet neither am using java 1.3. As a matter of fact the TrayIcon class sticks me to java 6 :) Besides I know the basics of bundling custom fonts within my application. I think you might not be aware of the fact that most fonts support cyrillic so I don't really need to load another internationalized font.
I will remind you that labels are properly displayed on my machine. That's why I was firstly asking whether it could be a local problem of my tester.

  • Russian charset problem

I've got Oracle database 8.1.7 and Oracle 9iAS installed on the same machine, Windows NT.
When I try to create form containing russian field names with Portal, it stores them (and then displays) in wrong charset. NLS_LANG parameters are all set to RUSSIAN_CIS.CL8MSWIN1251.
Does anyone know how to avoid this problem?

    It's a bug.
When you create a new form edit it and add labels in Russian, before clicking Ok you should click on the root of the component tree (Form). In this case all Russian characters will be saved with proper encoding.
