Nokia doesn't provide a way for the user to add languages, though you may be able to get it done at a Nokia service point.

You can create a playlist on the phone in music player, or create one in Windows Media Player ans sync with phone. Or just select all songs and play random.

High SAR value for Nokia N79

i am planning to check out nokia n79, but the on reading the tech specs, i found it has good high SAR value, 1.40... is it advisable???..1.40 is really a high value...

In truth, all SAR values of all in production phones have very minimal known effects on man. This was an issue 15 years ago when SAR values were like 10x of what they are now. If you really have an issue with it, use a headset for calls.

How to set Full screen wallpaper for Nokia S60 v3 FP2 Device.Searching for this software since Long time.

Already Used That one....
There are lot many options other than that in that.Bit confused with that
I installed Signed Fullscreen wallpaper .it was installed successfully.But When selecting wallper it is telling "Unable to execute Due to securtiy reasons".Its working in Fp1 devices but not with Fp2
even with very low end phones Full scrren wallpaper is working.But y not with Nokia?

N79's from some countries have the FM transmitter disabled to comply with laws in those countries.
I suggest you contact the retailer.
The app cannot be reinstalled.

Nokia N79 : Firmware Update

Does anyone know whether there will be a firmware update for Nokia N79 soon? Its been almost 8 months since the last one. I'm on v 32.001 and there has been no update thus far.

I'm update firmware 32.001 for nokia n79 and gps signals cannot be received.
The satellite signals usually open between 6-9 after firmware update enabled satellite just 1-2

Hi, I report a bug in this firware versión. I've n79-3 rm 350 NAM. The problem is cannot acces to menu route when the languague is set in Spanish: Tools > Settings > Applications > ---- (before here appears App Settings or some else). But, when the langague set is English, this option appears
GPS signal reception: sometimes is take too long lock the GPS signal.

New software for the Nokia N79 version of "30,011....

News update software, it is information that came out of the new software for the Nokia N79 version of "30,011." Why is it not available to update via the Nokia Software Updater????

release of firmware updates depends on Nokia and on network operators. if you have a generic, unbranded phone then it will ome very soon to be released for your product code. if you have a branded handset however (i.e. with your operator's logos/animations all over the firmware), then this will take longer or may not come at all. since your operator has the choice whether to release the firmware with their own customisations to the customers, or not.

NOKIA N79 BACKLIGHT PROBLEM

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY NOKIA N79, WHEN I PLAY GAME AND BRING THE SCREEN IN STANDBY MODE BY PUTTING THE GAME IN BACKGRUNG AFTERSOME WHILE MY MOBILE'S BACKLIGHT SCREEN DOESNT WORK PROPERLY, EVEN IF I OPEN KEYPAD LOCK & PRESSES BUTTONS ITS LIGHT DOESN'T GET STARTED FOR SOMETIME, DO ANYBODY HAVE SOLUTION???

It seems that this isn't done on S60 Nokias any more, just S40 ones.

NOKIA N79 CANT BACKUP CONTACT DATA TO MEMORY CARD

hello,
I am not able to backup the contact data of my nokia n79 to memory card. When performing the above function the progress bar progresses for sometime goes 50 % completed and then returns to the home screen. Tried formatting the phone/MC as well as re-flashed the firmware but no use. Is there anyone having similar issue ?. FYI the phone is under warranty and there is no proper response
from the nokia centre so i have decided to repair it myself. Is there any workaround for this issue ??

My question still stands though, if you look in the directory, has it actually backed up all your contacts or not? meaning are all the *.vcf files there.
if not, which file does is the last that was created, find the equivalent in the contacts database, and check if there is something wrong/different with the next contact compared to others?
Yes, there may be an error, but at least until it is fixed you may be able to work around it.
(I presume there is plenty of space on your memory card? note that the phone has a self imposed limit to prevent memory card from being completely full, so if card is very close to full it is possible that backup utility stops)

Ive been a Nokia fanboy for the last 5 years, and have bought most of the smartphones produced by our very own Nokia. India is a very good market for Nokia, but since the past few years, people are just moving towards other platforms for some reason(s)..
Having said that, I would like to inform you that I bought the Nokia 808 PureView Cameraphone recently, and im enjoying the overall experience, though, I would like to give some of my suggestions for the future Nokia (Symbian) OS with a view to better it as a complete smartphone OS and lessen the number of unsatisfied customers. So, without wasting any more time, I'll come to the point straight away. Below are my opinions that ive summarized-
1.) For a better visual experience:
- Horizontal scrolling in menu is highly recommended as its simply more practical and easy-to-use.
- An option for changing wallpapers while changing HS (homescreen) or setting a single widescreen wallpaper that scrolls in every HS would be a welcome addition.
- Size of icons in menu should be reduced to around half of the current size in FP1.
- Simpler and faster theme effects.
- The pop up menu (when 'options' is pressed) while being in the landscape screen orientation (in any app) should be worked upon so that it populates more options while covering a lesser part of the screen.
- The bounce back effect of tkinetic scrolling in some apps, like browser for instance, shold be reduced or disabled.
2.) For better apps and overall experience:
- App open and close delay should be minimized
- App installation time (specially QT apps) needs a reduction..
- the browser needs a major update with full support of flash and improvements in pan & zoom functionality.
- Im satisfied with the number of apps available, so this is not an issue with me
- The qwerty keyboard responsiveness and key positioning needs an improvement. Ive compared it to other OSes myself and found out that I made less errors on those..
As im short of time, thats it for now. Hope you guys at nokia take this as a positive feedback and work towards improving the overall experience of THE BEST CAMERAPHONE ON PLANET, ie, THE NOKIA 808 PUREVIEW (and other capable hardware phones).

Hello…I own an 808 PureView device. At the outset, I must congratulate you for creating such a marvelous device. It’s in all dimensions a brilliant Smartphone and has no major lags except a few which I would like to mention as suggestions to improve the general smoothness and usefulness of its User Interface (henceforth-UI).
The in-built gallery lacks ‘mark multiple items’ option which, if integrated, can be fruitfully used to delete or send multiple items though Bluetooth. Also, the in-built gallery lacks ‘renaming’ function which would otherwise be helpful in organizing the gallery items, and in giving custom names which are easy to remember and deal with.
The generic MUSIC PLAYER lacks the track/music search function from within the music player, and so, to search a song out of the vast collection, the user has to use the generic SEARCH application by exiting or minimizing the music player, which in itself is a cumbersome exercise. The search function, if integrated into the music player, will help a great deal in making the music experience really customized and precise as also time saving.
The in-built VIDEO editing options available in the video viewing dashboard are relatively much naïve and rudimentary as compared to PureView’s lesser predecessor, the N8. Now, since 808 is a full-fledged camera Smartphone, it is bit logical on part of the user to expect the video editing dashboard to be as efficient and complete as the photo editing dashboard of the same is. Advance options like adding music clip can be added to the video editing console to mitigate the need of using any third party application to do so, and thus, it will further enhance the utility drawn from the cell-phone UI in terms of video editing and viewing.
The generic MESSAGING application has the default view as CONVERSATIONS view and manual selection every time is required to switch the view to FOLDERS mode. If there had been an option to make a choice in setting the folders view or the conversations view as default as per users convenience, it would have been again a smooth messaging experience.
To end up, the generic CONTACT application lacks the facility to edit the contact labels unlike the one which was available in S60 V3 devices (I owned N79 prior to owing 808 PureView and so I am well aware of this utility). Facility to edit the contact labels makes it easy to differentiate between multiple contact numbers of the same contact so as to have an ease of remembrance and clarity of use.
I earnestly hope that Nokia will incorporate some or all of these suggestions in the next-to-come firmware upgrade for Belle FP1 devices. These modifications/additions, if done and made, will make the Belle OS fully competent with its various other contemporaries as it just lacks these things but otherwise is a fluid and extremely useful OS. I request you to kindly pay due heed and consideration to my observations and work towards making the Belle OS an all-encompassing mobile platform. Thanking You.

Nokia n79 navi-wheel problem.

my nokia n79's navi wheel isnot working. its on from setting, navi light is glowing around center button but navi wheel is not give any response. my software version is 32.001, its a t-mobile unlocked fone.

Here are a couple of things to try (in this order):
Turn off phone, remove battery for 5 seconds, replace, turn on phone.
Adjust naviwheel setting to OFF, leave Settings application (return to standby), then open up Settings once more on turn naviwheel back on.
The naviwheel, as you might know, does not work across all applications; nor does it work beyond a certain "depth" of menus. You should test it at the "root" (first) level of the Menu application. If it doesn't work there, perhaps you need to back up your settings and data and reinstall your phone software. But first: do you have any applications which allow for key shortcuts or special key mappings? There could be a conflict there.
Finally, there have been problems with an electrical component behind the naviwheel, but this is more commonly associated with a general keyboard lockup.
Good luck, and maybe someone else will have some additional suggestions...

Contacts include Ovi features that allow you to locate your friends and receive updates on what they are doing. You can also chat with your friends and share your favorite places with them. This release also includes improved video stabilisation. To get this software through your device, type in *#0000# on the home screen or go to Device Manager. Select Options > Check for updates and follow the on screen prompts. Additionally this software release is available through the Nokia Software Updater: www.nokia.com/softwareupdates.

Hi,
I connected my N79 yesterday on my PC with Nokia OVI.
It tells me that there was a firmware update and launched it.
But during this update, It tells me there was a USB connection problem and launched again the update......during 20 minutes to tell me finaly that there was again a problem.
So, now, I can't start my phone. When I push the power button, the screen lights on few seconds and stop.
I tried to to a hard reset (format) with the three buttons :
1/ 3 + * + green button
2/ Start button with the three button pushed
....but nothing hapens.
When I try to charge the phone, nothing hapens.
