Russian keyboard on mbp retina
Hello,i want order new mbp with retina from apple online store and can i order it with the russian keyboard?in options just british english etc
Nobody in these forums represents Apple or any store, so you must contact stores directly yourself to find out whether you can buy some product you want. Apple stores do not ship abroad, so you should contact stores in the country where you live.
Since you did not say where you live, it's not possible to provide links to the Apple online or retail stores in your country, but you should be able to find these easy via Google.

Looking for a replacement Russian Keyboard for MBP 17in
I have searched high and low for a replacement Russian Keyboard for my US bought MBP. Anyone have any ideas. Apple US is no help. Apple Russia won't sell it to me.
Hi CKLB,
Welcome to the forum.
These guys appear to specialise in International keyboards. Worth a call to see if they have the Russian flavour:

Alternatively, these guys sell Russian keyboard stickers which may be of interest:

Using the Number Pad on my non-Apple bluetooth keyboard on MBP Retina
Hi, I was able to easily connect my bluetooth keyboard to my MBP Retina, but my Number Pad doesnt seem to work. I was trying to find an option to allow the numpad in keyboard settings, but couldnt find anything. I was hoping somebody would know what to do so that I could use my Number Pad for punching in numbers on Excel, online, etc. It's a huge pain to use the straight line of keys above the letters and I'm used to using the number pad. FYI, I'm using a Logitech MX 5500 Keyboard, if that makes any difference. Any thoughts are appreciated!
All right,
Not really clear yet but try either pressing the two shift key for a few seconds (or pressing many times both at the same time) or pressing shift with space. It worked with me. Funy that the problem only happens in excel.
Got this from: http://www.fixya.com/support/t3142491-number_keys_number_pad_keyboard -

Relacing keyboard in MBP 15" - how easy?
Hi all, I am awaiting the arrival of my new MBP 15". I use both Russian and English. Buying MBP in Russia with the Russian keyboard carries an exorbitant surcharge, sometimes as high as $500 to $1,000, depending on the greed of Russian resellers. This is the reason I purchased it in the US from PowerMax (I live and work in the US).
I saw a replacement Russian keyboard for MBP 15" model sold at one US site ($140), which claims that it is an original Apple part. Is it difficult for an average user to replace a keyboard in the latest MBP 15"? I am not afraid of opening a computer and I did a lot if improvements myself to my old G5 (which was recently replaced with newest Mac Pro), including replacement of fans, hard drives, memory, optical drive, etc.
Or is it advisable to get keyboard replaced by an authorized Apple dealer of Apple store technician? Approximate cost?
Any hints would be very much appreciated. Are you sure the keyboard you have seen is for the correct model, sercher? The one used in the Unibody MBPs is completely different from that in the early ones.
Replacing it usually involves a complete change of the entire upper body, and even used English upper cases for the unibody models usually sell for around $300. I gather that it is possible to change the keyboard once the upper body has been removed, but this adds some further complexity.
Even simply replacing the upper body is quite a tricky process by the looks of the instructions, and certainly harder than most work on G5's and the like. - see http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Unibody-2-53-G Hz-Mid-2009-Upper-Case/1587/1
Have you thought about simply using a cover? see http://www.kbcovers.com/servlet/Detail?no=84 for example.
Cheers

What is the cost for replacing a new complete keyboard set for a 15-inch MBP Retina?
When I went back to home today, I noticed that a small amount water has been splitted on my keyboard. Several keys did not work then. I tried to use a hair dryer to dry it but it did not work. I guessed the keyboard may have short-routed, unfortunately...the hot air had cause some of the keys transformed. I am quite sure that the motherboard has not been wetted. I will probably bring my MBP Retina to the Genius Bar tmr, just wanna have brief approximation on my repairing fee for a complete keyboard set only..THX
Arm + Leg.
Seriously.
The multiple insults you have inflicted on the poor computer will NOT be covered and the warranty will be void. The keyboards on the unibody computers, especially those warped by heat, are not repairable. To replace, the working guts of the computer have to be transferred to a new topcase that has the new keyboard and trackpad, bonded in place. For regular MBPs, the parts+labor charge ran in the $700-900 range. Retinas will be more expensive. -
MBP (Retina) aluminium above keyboard gets really hot.
The aluminum above the keyboard of my MBP Retina gets really hot, is this a common issue?

MBP Retina or Powerful Ultrabook?
Hi, I've been a PC user all my life, but after working my way through the first iPod Nano, a couple iPod Touches, and now an iPad 2- I've grown to like the way Apple works. I'm finally at the point where I've decided to upgrade my 4-year old Future Shop sale Toshiba, which surprisingly has lasted me a good deal of time. However, I'm not a fan of the limited capabilities, the weight, and the fact that it very easily overheats (to nearly scalding temperatures), leading me to opt for my iPad most of the time. I'm a sucker for HD and quick boot-ups, so of course I fell in love with the MBP Retina when it was released. The only thing holding me back is the hefty price tag. Because of this, I began to research several ultrabooks and found that I could get the same specs (except for retina, but I'm fine with 1080p) and even a few bonus features (I would love a Blu-Ray drive and some accident-proof features) for half, or slightly-more-than-half of the price of the MBP. My favourite features of the MBP are the "little things"- fast bootup, magsafe, trackpad, and iCloud to work seamlessly with my iPad (which, i guess isn't really a "little thing"). I'm just not sure if these are worth the extra $1000 when I could just get an amazing PC.
I plan to use this computer in the following ways:
- Web browsing/ social networking
- Homework (university... of course)
- Entertainment (play movies, TV shows, etc)
- Some video and picture editing (I have a Sony camera which records AVCHD, which edits best on Sony Vegas)
- Running language software (i.e. Rosetta Stone)
So anyway, I'm not a gamer or a hardcore video editor, but I would like to be able to do some editing and video playback with clarity and without lag. As such, I figure I really only need the i5, so the base model of the Retina is fine for me. But again, I could get a **** good computer with i5 for much less money than the Retina, so I'm looking for reasons to sway either way. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
tjHmm...
'll readily admit, I'm a bit of an Apple head, so always say YEAH GO FOR IT.
However,
I'd say be aware, if you aren't going to use the power, you may be better going for alternatives, but I'll give you a rundown of some pro's and cons for your usage.
- Cold boots in 15 seconds flat
- can play 4 1080p streams at once without lag or framerate drop
- Photo editing on Aperture is excellent
- Photostream means your photos are there almost instantly wirelessly (not with the camera of course)
- Photoshop CS6 (when the retina patch is out) will look brilliant
- I had a photo zoomed out to fill half the screen size, of a whole person, yet could still see individual hairs on the head.
- Build, engineering, design and material quality unsurpassed in the industry (you cannot flex anywhere or make anything creak)
- Logevity, just upgraded from a 2008 Air - which was still going strong with no visible wear or damage/scratches
-Power, good graphics chip, switchable for battery life
- Video editing is amazing (on Final Cut Pro - which is Retina ready) you can veiw full 1080p with the interface still visible
Cons:
- Lag - on 'best for retina' its great, on 'More space' scaling, if you allow GFX chip switching, will cause serious lag - forcing the GeForce fixes this
- Other laptops will be great for your needs, and cheaper, but may not last as long
- The next generation in a year will likely iron out the lag issues
- Most programs are not yet retina ready - meaning they look... well... very dodgy indeed
I would say the MacBook is a fantastic machine and you will not regret the purchase, it will last you a good 3-5 years and you will thoughoughly enjoy it. It's an absolute joy to you and the trackpad and keyboard are brilliant. The speakers are also great.
However, you will likely get a notebook more than good enough for your needs, as you said, for much less money. If you can happily afford it - get the Mac, they are some of the finest computers money can buy. If it's a stretch - get a **** good alternative, you'll enjoy it equally and get great performance and some extra money in the old pocket!
Hope this helped a bit anyway - if you have any questions, ask away, more than happy to help -
MBP Retina shows wrong resolution on external display since 10.8.4
I have a MBP retina and I'm using it with an external display, Dell U2711, connected via a Mini-DP to DP cable. It all worked amazingly well until 10.8.4 came out. Now, when I connect the display, it no longer shows the correct 2560 X 1440 resolution, but shows 1080p. The displays preferences pane does not allow going over 1080p. It does recognize the display model, though.
It started with one port. The machine has two TB ports, so one of them worked fine and the other didn't (the one closer to the user was acting up). Then it degraded further to the second port. Now, if I plug and unplug several times and fiddle with the displays control panels, I might just get it right eventually. It takes some time, but eventually the machine gets it right. At least that's what I've been experiencing in the last few days.
I don't think it's a hardware issue. It's possible that my cable is at fault, but I seriously doubt that. I'm wondering if anyone else got the same problem, just checking before I go and splurge on a new cable (these cables are not easy to find).
Thanks,
ZThis worked for me:
Step 1: Delete system windowserver preferences
In the Finder, from the menu bar, select "Go -> Go to Folder..."
Enter: /Library/Preferences/
Delete the file called com.apple.windowserver.plist
Step 2: Delete user windowserver preferences
In the Finder, from the menu bar, select "Go -> Go to Folder..."
Enter: ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/
Delete all files that start with com.apple.windowserver (On my rMBP, there was one file called com.apple.windowserver.12AFB147-95D6-5C70-8F62-C1E4F2BE81BE)
Step 3: Reset the PRAM (These instructions are fromhttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379)
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys. -

Brand new MBP Retina constant kernal panics
I have a new MBP Retina with Mavericks 10.9.4 installed. I have received constant kernal panics since a few days into it. It seemed as though they were being cause by the io/logic boards, but those have both been replaced now. OS has been reinstalled multiple times to no avail. BSD and kernals blamed are all over the place (Dock, WindowsServer, mds; filesystems, AppleSMBusController, IOAcceleratorFamily)
The latest kernal panic is as follows:

I've got many more where that came from. I just don't want to post a wall of text.An update on my situation.
I had my macbook pro replaced with a brand new one by Apple, which was brilliant customer service.
Before giving back the old macbook, I decided to copy all my essential documents over to a usb stick. I also formatted my time machine external drive so it was blank.
Rather than restore this new macbook using my time machine backup, I set it up as a new machine and copied just my documents from my usb stick. I then proceeded to carry out fresh installs of software I regularly use but nothing non-essential (namely Spotify, Firefox, Chrome, xCode, Adobe CS5, Squidman, MAMP and Office 2011).
For three days everything worked beautifully - until last night when I had my first kernel panic on this machine. Nothing was running apart from firefox when this panic occured. The report is below and states the process which was running was 'plugin-container' which is part of firefox.
Below is the log output:
Sat Aug 30 01:51:53 2014

I'm running the latest OS X Mavericks - all updated to date.
I've tested the thunderbolt display with a friends MacBook Air and I see no problems there.
Any clues what is going on? Or it this latest Kernel Panic just a coincidence compared to my previous macbook?
Thanks in advance! -
MBP Retina display won't undim
Last night, I fully dimmed the display on my MBP Retina. This morning, I hit F2 several times to turn the screen back on. No luck. I hit Return to make sure it wasn't asleep and again hit F2... nothing. The keyboard was lit, so I know it had power. I restarted... it chimed and the keyboard lit up again, but I'm still unable to get the display undimmed. Any suggestions?
Well, OK, if it is completely dimmed, not just stuck on a low level, try pressing fn-f2 (function & F2). If the box in preferences is checked, then adding "fn" may help. Worth a try if it works.

I am still having this problem with my MBP Retina display. I am currently typing on the keyboard on the machine because it just lost the bluetooth connection, yet again. After the message flashes up saying "connection lost" for my keyboard the bluetooth settings on my system preferences are not responsive. It drops the connection very regularly, usually at the end of the day but it's something that goes wrong with the bluetooth on the macbook because I get the same <<do not localize...Name not available>> message that others have mentioned.
What has NOT fixed this issue:
I have reset NVRAM/PRAM
I have reset the SMC
I have the latest OSX v. 10.9.2
I have new batteries in two different apple wireless keyboards that have both suffered the same issue
I have switched off wifi and run from ethernet, but bluetooth still fails, it still happens.
I have searched the discussions and found many people reporting the same problem going back many months now but nobody posting a solution that works. When is this going to get sorted out? This is still happening to me on a daily basis. I'm unable to connect to, or switch off bluetooth on my MBPRetina from Spring 2013. I get the message <<do not localize...name not available>> on my bluetooth preferences. I'm now going to restart my computer so I can connect to the wireless keybaoard. Is there nothing that can be done about this glitch?

I have a MBP Retina - Keys not funcitoning
I have a new MBP Retina - 2.7 GHZ 16 GB Ram.
Every now and then I am having my keyboard lose some key functionality - mainly caps lock, space bar, delete and right arrow, a few others too.
It I have tried creating a new user etc. but it stays the same. It has happened while writing a word doc and today using aperture. In both cases it occurred while flying.
Any ideasNicholas Dawes wrote:
Well, Looks like Apple will be replacing my laptop. I have been waiting for the replacement since the end of June, so it is a long wait.
Anyway - what I wanted to tell you is that I have made a dozen flights since first encountering this problem and I have narrowed down the symptoms a little further..... The computer (keyboard) works until the plane reaches a certain altitude and then starts to become eratic and as we climb higher, it fails just as described in my previous post. Then, as we decend the exact reverse occurs... non-functional to eratic to fully functional.
It has to be pressure/altitude related...
Anyway, I am not sure whether I will ever learn what the problem was, but I can't wait for my replacement laptop.. It is killing me not being able to get my work done on long flights....
Anyone else with the same issue???
Thanks,
Nick
Glad that your problem has been taken care of... Now I would be inclined to agree in the pressure/atltitude theory. Actually, I think is the reason why you were having the problem. Going to the MacBook Pro (Retina) specs page, I can see that the operating altitude of the MacBook Pro (Retina) is up to 10,000 ft. I guess you are aware of this but the usual cabin pressure in an airplane when it is at its cruising altitude (around 35,000 ft.) the average cabin pressure is the same as it you were at 8,000 ft. That cabin pressure altitude puts it very near to the operational limits of the Retina MacBook Pro.
Hope this helps... -
MBP Retina- trackpad and mouse click unresponsive
Just got a brand new MBP retina, 15" 2.6Ghz Quad, 16GB Ram, 500 SSD.
Been working with it for two days absolutely no issues, working fantastically with both trackpad and a wireless magic mouse.
Used it this morning for several house, took it to work, turned it on and the mouse is working ie the cursor moved over the screen but i am totally unable to click anything! Forced it to restart (holding down power key as that was all that worked), hasn't cured the problem.
The trackpad physically clicks so doesnt appear to be stuck, i tried plugging in a wired USB mouse, again can control the cursor but unable to click.
Running 10.8.2, no new software was installed this morning when it worked fine, so cannot figure out what is wrong with it?
Any suggestions?????Finally got it fixed. Make sure you guys call Apple Support. The first tier tech support is not able to help you because they have not been trained for that You will have to speak to a senior advisor. There will be a lot of deleting of caches involved while in safe mode. After did all that my trackpad and keyboard is working again. Hope you'll get yours working too!
