Russian virtual keyboard missing a character!

...namely character "ъ".
I understand that space is limited and this character needed not very often, but why don't BB place it among numerics or another extended set?
Same issue with character "ё"

It may be an alternate selection on another key.  Is there a similar Russian letter?  If so hold that letter and a pop up will be available allowing you to select the other letter.

  • IPad virtual keyboard missing grave - back tick ?

Okay I used notes and went through the entire keyboard. Where is the back tick or grave character? On a normal keyboard it's on the tilde key. Suppose a website required special characters in the password. How could you use the iPad to login if you used this character?
    Message was edited by: johnb0002002

May I recommend that the password be changed
Unfortunately that's not always an option. It's really puzzling why Apple has failed to fix this bug for nearly 3 years now. The grave accent has been one of the 95 printable characters of the standard ASCII set for over 2 decades, and people or programs which generate passwords are fully justified in thinking they should be able to use it and that any normal computer should be able to type it. Especially crazy is the fact, as pointed out by johnb, that when typing an email address in Mail, Apple's virtual keyboard does include the grave accent, which serves no purpose whatsoever in that context.

  • Russian mnemonic keyboard three letters missing: щ ч э - in Office 2013 in Windows 8 Pro or Standard and Windows 7 Pro or Standard

The issue I believed is Windows specific. It only appears to work correctly on a Windows XP system. I can get the keys to work on Windows 7 or Windows 8 system.
Russian mnemonic keyboard three letters missing: щ ч э
I have a client that noticed this issue. He is a linguist and he uses the letters quite frequently. He further explained that...
Russian mnemonic keyboard three letters missing: щ ч э
On Windows 8 there is a mnemonic Russian keyboard.
Unfortunately there are three letters which I can not find: щ, ч and э.
These three letters exist in the standard Russian keyboard. They are at the following location (in the US  keyboard): o,x and '.
I also did a test on a Windows 7 machine running office 2013 and still the letters are missing as described.
The client explained without these three letters the mnemonic keyboard is useless
Your help to address this issue is greatly appreciated.

I think it is by design. You can use Preview to show the keyboard layout.

  • How can I create a virtual keyboard shortcut in my dock?

So I started using my MacBook Pro as a device I connect to my TV. I have an HDMI adapter, and, after setting up the display and sound, it is awesome! I even purchased a Trackpad so I can sit on my couch and navigate. The cost of the adapter and Trackpad are more than paid for with my canceling of cable.
Anyway, my question is about the virtual keyboard in OS X. It doesn't happen often, but I sometimes have to type in a user name or password for sites. I know how to go through "System Preferences", "Universal Access", and then "Keyboard Preferences" to turn it on, but is there a faster way?
What I really want to know is if I can create a shortcut in my dock for the virtual keyboard?
If not, does anyone know of any third party, virtual keyboard applications that would work this way?
    Thanks!

    @ KA-BOOM!!
    Okay, try this:
    1. Copy KeyboardViewer.app to your Applications folder (or wherever you want it).
    2. Edit this copied KeyboardViewer.app bundle with TextWrangler or a comparable text editor or a property list editor, changing a single character in KeyboardViewer.app/Contents/Info.plist so that the value for NSUIElement is 0 instead of 1.
    3. Drag the new KeyboardViewer.app to the Dock.
When you want to quit the application, do so from the Dock icon.  (If you click the red button--the usual way to quit KeyboardViewer when it has been invoked from the menu extra--the application will keep running facelessly in the background and you won't be able to get the KeyboardViewer GUI back again unless you kill its process or restart.  All in all, quitting from the Dock icon is the quickest solution.)

  • When I try to buy ibooks from my ipad, the virtual keyboard is not the same as my computer, and so as my password consists of numbers, letters and symbols my ipad keeps showing that my password is incorrect! Is there any way around this problem please?

Are you using the virtual keyboard to input your password and you cannot see/find the characters you need on that keyboard?
Or are you trying to use a bluetooth keyboard and pressing the printed key does not produce the right character?

  • Virtual keyboard's context-menu: can users add items to it?

iPad's virtual keyboard has a context-menu: when you hold a finger down on the -a- key of the English keyboard, for example, a context-menu appears showing various accented/combining forms of the character -a- from which you can choose. Is there a way for users to add items to this context-menu? Could one add [ð] [u00F0, 'Latin eth'] to the [d] key's context-menu and [þ] [u00FE, 'Latin thorn'] to the [t] key's context-menu?

Unless there is a keyboard language that already supports those characters, then no. You cannot add additional options to the built-in keyboard. There are apps that extend the keyboard, one in particular is the Wolfram Alpha app. While I don't know if it supports the characters you are looking for, it does have an extensive variable based keyboard for input in addition to the system keyboard.

  • N9 French virtual keyboard bug - unable to enter à...

On my Nokia N9, with the French virtual keyboards set, I am unable to enter essential characters such as " à " (a grave), " é " (e acute), " è " (e grave), etc.
Is there a way to enter these characters? Or a solution to this bug?
The only accented character supported for inputs is " ç " (c with a cedillla). This character is rarely used compared to à (a with grace accent), é (e with an acute accent) and è (e with a grave accent).
N900 (physical and virtual) keyboards supported all the above and other accented characters.
A weird twist, there are multiple types of quotation marks supported on the French virtual keyboard (which one would deem totally redundant).
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Akashiiii, as Pj98 says, you have to long-press on a character to see the special ones. I've got the french keyboard too and i there's no problem with mine. Just press and move your finger to left or right.

  • Virtual Keyboard help

    Hi everyone
I have a problem with my VI. My VI reproduces an interface with a
keyboard that the user has to use to fill the various boxes at the
interface. At the moment, I can write all the information on a single
string, the "Value in" and save it. This solution is ok but honestly I
want to improve it for two reasons:
    1) my output is a single string with all the data typed. I want to
save these data in a file but because it is a string, I need to to split
it and this operation requires that the various voices are separated by
a particular character like a comma (not a good solution)
    2) I have to add another string close to the "Value in" to indicate the required data to the user.
My idea, maybe I am sking the moon, is that the user can introduce
the data moving freely between the boxes. When all the data have been
introduced, click the Ok button, close the VI and save these data in a
    file as combination of strings.
Another possible solution should be to use my VI and modify it in
order that the user digits the first raw of data, clicks Enter and can
visualize this data in a separate string.  Digits the second raw, clicks
Enter, visualizes this data in another separate string and so on. After
the last raw, clicks Enter, visualizes the data and closes the VI
pushing the OK button. In this way, all the data visulaized in the
separated strings  can be saved easily in a file.
    Any suggestions and/or help?

Kudos for the cool looking vi!
I have to think about your question a little bit but I do have a couple comments. This would be a perfect XControl. I have never created an XControl but maybe this would be a good one to practice with.
In the meantime I did have a comment on how you are detecting the keypress. There are a million ways to do it and there is nothing wrong with your technique. But your technique is just a lot of development work. See the attached modification that uses search array instead of a case structure with 50 frames.
This part of your program would be perfect for a subvi and your keyboard cluster should be a strict typedef.
I hope you don't mind my unsolicited comments that have nothing to do with your question

  • Defective Russian Phonetic keyboard in iOS

I've noticed that the Russian Phonetic keyboard is defective in iOS.
Both Russian and Bulgarian use the Cyrillic alphabet but each language has a completely different standard keyboard layout. For example, on the second row of a standard keyboard, the Russian one starts with ФЫВА and the Bulgarian one starts with ЬЯАО. To make typing easier in Cyrillic for users of QWERTY keyboards, both languages also have phonetic keyboards where the layout of the Cyrillic letters closely resembles the same phonetic sounds on a QWERTY keyboard. Therefore the second row of these phonetic keyboards starts with АСДФ, corresponding to ASDF on the second row of a QWERTY keyboard.
Here's the problem - if I add the Bulgarian Phonetic keyboard to my iPhone, I get a phonetic keyboard where the second row starts with АСДФ, but if I add the Russian Phonetic keyboard, I see the standard ФЫВА Russian layout and not a phonetic one starting АСДФ. Unfortunately I cannot use a Bulgarian phonetic keyboard for typing in Russian because it is missing letters that don't exist in Bulgarian, for example Ы.
What is causing this? Is it a bug in iOS?

    NFH. wrote:

In iOS, the default "Bulgarian" screen keyboard happens to be phonetic, while the Russian one is not.  That is what you are seeing.  If you tap on Bulgarian on the list and then choose Bulgarian Standard for the screen keyboard, that one will also be non-phonetic.
As Meg said, the keyboards which are labeled Phonetic are only for use with an external wifi hardware keyboard.
You can ask Apple to add a Russian phonetic screen keyboard via

  • Virtual keyboards and landscape view

Recently I had to reinstall the software on my Torch because something went wrong after I downlaoded an app and my phone kept continuously rebooting in a loop. Since reinstalling the software, though, I have noticed some things that are different and one is that the virtual keyboard never appears anymore. Not only that but the phone does not seem to be able to change to landscape view anymore, except when viewing a YouTube video. And lately, the YouTube videos stop part way through and never start back up again, as they do when just buffering temporarily.
Is there something missing from the software I downloaded? Is there a special version of the OS6 that is just for the Torch?

    Hello Bluerosequeen,
Sorry to hear about your issue.
In this case we can try to reload the software on the BlackBerry® smartphone to make sure it is running the latest version and there are no issues with the OS.

  • Can't Login to One Site with a Virtual Keyboard

I am unable to login to one particular site using Firefox 10.0.2 in Lubuntu 11.10.
The virtual keyboard is visible but does not react at all.
I can login OK to several (all) other sites with similar virtual keyboards using the same FF in Lubuntu.
I can login to the problem site OK using Chromium in the same Lubuntu session.
I can login to the problem site OK using Firefox 8.0.1 in XP on the same PC.
So I suppose there must be some setting in FF10.0.2 which is obstructing the virtual keyboard - but which?
I have been unable to find anything to fix or diagnose this problem so far.
    Thanks for any help!

I found I can also login OK to the problem site on the same PC, using Ubuntu 10.04LTS & FF 10.0.1.
So I am just missing some magic ingredient to allow me to login to my site using my normal Lubuntu 11.10 & FF 10.0.2.
Is this a java issue or what, when virtual keyboards don't respond?
Can nobody point me to anything which might help me to understand/diagnose/fix this problem?
    Thanks!

  • Show virtual keyboard for cyrillic

    Hi,
I'm a native austrian using german keyboard layout. As I'm learning russian, I use this snippet to be able to switch between german and cyrillic keyboard layout by pressing both shift keys:
    setxkbmap -option grp:switch,grp:shifts_toggle,grp_led:scroll de,ru &
To make it easier to find the cyrillic letters I'd like to have a virtual keyboard if I switch to the russian layout. The best solution would be, if the virtual keyboard would be switched on and of by the shift keys so that it automatically "syncs" with the russian layout.
Did somebody get this done? I'm on Openbox.

    You can't do that.
create a virtual text box, and when the user clicks on it, show a real form with a textbox. It will then also show the virtual keyboard.

  • How do I implement a virtual keyboard?  I will compensate for assistance.

I have created a simple Adobe Air Windowed Application.  The application uses the mx:HTML controls to load a web page inside my application.  I have tried other means to load the web page but due to formatting issue, all other methods fail to load the page correctly.  Any solution will need to use the mx HTML controls.
I have added a virtual keyboard to my project.  However, when I enter a text field and then select a key on the virtual keyboard, I lose focus on the text field.
I understand the concept of event listeners and using a variable to store the text field id and using a focus event to gain the id of the text field.  However, I am not a programmer by no means and this is way above my head.  I am looking for someone to spend 30 or 60 minutes adding the needed code to my project so I can use the virtual keyboard.  I would be willing to send someone a gift card to their favorite restaurant as compensation.
I have included the 4 files that make up my project (File names are in read text).
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Joe

    Best regards,
    Joe

Thanks for the reply. No, it's the virtual keyboard that is integrated into window 8.1. I haven't installed any 3rd party keyboards
