RV Support VLAN Tagging on WAN Port?

Hi,
I'd like to know if RV Series Router can support VLAN tagging on the WAN port itself? I need this cause my ISP using such method to connect to end user modem/router.
Thank you.
Regards,
Danny

Anything available other than this RV315W?  That model is only 10/100 on the LAN.  VLAN on the WAN is fairly standard for fibre installs and should be a feature across all SMB routers.

    Hi,
You would have to use a technology such as Ethernet over MPLS (EoMPLS) or VPLS. This technology is referred to as Layer 2 VPNs. You can get more info on this at the following locations:
EoMPLS (part of the Cisco Any Transport over ATM suite):
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6646/products_ios_protocol_option_home.html
    VPLS:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6648/products_ios_protocol_option_home.html
Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.

  • Binding a VLAN to the WAN port

This is a Cisco SRP541W on the lasted firmware version.
I need to bind VLAN 10 (tag it as VLAN 10?) to the WAN interface to authenticate with my ISP, can't seem to find this in the interface and fear that this router may not be able to do it at all.
    Any ideas?

I found a workaround. I'm using the pureMVC framework for my app. I assigned the creation of the pop up window within a mediator and I have the mediator listen for a notification that the app/stage has been resized. upon hearing that, the mediator tells the popup to resize.
Though it would still be nice to know how to bind the popup's dimensions to the stage's dimensions so I can let the Flex framework resize the component for me.

  • Cisco RV180 VLAN tagging WAN interface

Is there by any chance in the future firmware update that this product (RV180) will be able to support VLAN tagging on WAN interface like the Cisco's RV315W router? ISP in Singapore (Singtel) and Malaysia(Unifi) (http://klseet.com/index.php/mikrotik/mikrotik-rb750-750g/setup-for-unifi) requires certain type of vlan tagging on the WAN interface for it to work.
Is there any workaround to this?

I tried with only two vlans and set the DHCP active only for the office "vlan2". Computers receive the correct ip but some of them won't register on the network, i tried to set the ip manualy on the computers but that computer will still be isolated.
Ex: computer A receives ip 192.168.10.25, Subnet 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.10.1, for 2-3 minutes i can access the router on 192.168.10.1 and the internet, after a random time interval the gateway won't even respond to ping. It's not from firewall related issues as i set to accept all both incoming and outgoing. If i set a manual ip corresponding to vlan1 "default" everything works. It's like that computer is isolated so i believe it has to do with the asignment of Tagged, untagged and Excluded settings on the vlans.

  • ISA500 tagged WAN port

    Hello,
I'm currently evaluating an ISA570W firewall.
The use case is to deploy it as an entry level firewall on FTTH internet access lines.
The ISP provides a CPE that requires internet trafic to be tagged on a specific VLAN.
I was a bit suprise when, after trying this configuration, finding out that the WAN port on the ISA500 can only be put in access mode.
Which effectively makes this device unusable.
Is there another way to set one of the ethernet interface in trunk mode and put it in the WAN zone with DHCP client enabled?
    Thanks,

so I digged a bit further and found a document from Cisco's knowledgebase that describes steps by steps instructions for the WAN port: http://sbkb.cisco.com/CiscoSB/Loginr.aspx?login=1&pid=2&app=search&vw=1&articleid=3719
searching for vlan tag showed me a screen that allowed the setting of a tagged vlan on the WAN port but only available for PPPoE IP address assignement.
the VLAN tag option is not available with "DHCP Client" IP address assignement.
Is this something we could see in a future firmware release?
From what I've seen tagged vlan on the WAN port is a typical configuration requirement for FTTH services here in Switzerland.
    Thanks,

  • Can the AEBS untag a VLAN (802.1q) on the WAN port?

My modem (actually a fibre optical network terminal) provides a DHCP ethernet port. I would like to use my airport extreme for routing and wireless. Normally this would be a very simple setup, except the the modem requires all traffic to go over a specific VLAN (802.1q tagged). So, for this to work I would need the Airport to be able to untag/tag a specific VLAN on its WAN port. Is this possible?

I'll probably try to find the most minimal device that I can get to do transparent untagging of VLAN traffic. Not really sure where I might find that, but will start researching. I'd like to avoid using the current buggy router supplied by my ISP if at all possible!
I would suggest that you look at the various products provided by Cisco. FWIW I use a Cisco RVS4000 as my "main" router and have set up a number of VLANs for my home network with it.

  • Two VLANs on one switch port?

    Currently we have the following
Cat 4003 with VLAN trunking turned on to multiple switches. Each port in those exterior switches is assigned to a vlan(we have about 60 different vlans).
What I would like to do is on those exterior switches have two vlans assigned to it.
We'd like to create a single IP Phone VLAN(let's call it 999) that can span our entire enterprise and would have dhcp deployed on it.
Each port is connected to an IP phone which has a 2 port switch in them. One port to the wall, one to the pc.
The switch ports on those phones support vlan tagging
How would setup an exterior switch to access 2 vlans that connect to 2 port switch on an IP phone?

To facilitate ease of deployment, use VTP so that you can centrally create the vlans and propagate to each exterior switch. Now I believe you already do have a layer 3 engine or router that does routing between all these vlans. What switches are used on teh exterior ? This is to find out if voice vlan support is available.
In cat switches, voice vlan is created using command,
    set port auxiliaryvlan vlan
    In IOS based switches,
    int fa0/1
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk encap dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan
    switchport voice vlan
    switchport priority cos extend 0
    or
    int fa0/1
    switchport mode access
    switchport access vlan
    switchport voice vlan
I am not sure about support of voice/aux vlan in 4003. We will have check your other switch models/ software versions to determine support for this command.

  • VLAN Tagging

I am trying to utilize a wireless device in a customer site that extends VLAN to the wireless infrastructure. My device does not support VLAN Tagging, so it will not work. My question is this: Is this the norm, requireing end-point devices to insert VLAN Tags in the normal ethernet frame, or do most environments perform the Tag insertion/stripping at teh acces point level. Since they can use multiplpe SSIDs on their access points, can a new SSID be set up for another wireless VLAN that does not require VLAN Tagging?

In a Cisco environment you configure your VLANs on your switches and configure the switchport the AP is connected to as a trunk port. On the AP you define the VLANs and SSIDs and tie each SSID to a VLAN. End devices connect to an SSID and when connected to that SSID are automatically connected to it's matching VLAN. The end device (be it a PC, barcode reader or whatever) doesn't need to know anything about VLANs or which VLAN it needs to connect to, as long as it's associated to the correct SSID it will be on the correct VLAN.

  • VLAN Tagging from Windows on UCS B200m Server

We have two B200m blades that we have installed with Windows 2008 R2 and need to determine if the current driver set available for the MK81R/MK82R for Windows 2008 R2 supports VLAN tagging from inside of Windows.  If anyone could point me in the right direction I would surely appreciate it!

Windows has never been a great OS for trunking multiple VLANs.  The best way to set an individual adapter to a certain VLAN is to set it as the Native VLAN on the UCSM side.  The order of the vNICs seen in the UCSM and the order that windows sees them is not always the same so match them up by MAC address, then set the Native VLAN to the correct one on the vNIC within the UCSM and you should be all set within Windows.

  • VLAN Tagging on the ACE 4710 Appliance

    Hello all,
I have a quick question. How does the ACE 4710 Appliance works with VLAN tagging? I have virtual servers that I am trying to configure behind ACE. The VMs support VLAN tagging. Can I just trunk to link to my core switch and allow the ACE vlans to pass through?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    ACE 4710 support dot1q trunkning.
Configure the interface between 4710 and core switch as a trunk.
Same between your VMS and core switch.

  • VLAN Tagging for VDSL (German, T-Home)

    Hello,
*does the AirPort Extreme (gigabit edition) support VLAN Tagging?*
I will get VDSL 50/10 Mbits (T-Home Entertain) within the next few days and would like to use the AirPort Extreme (gigabit edition) as a router. VDSL works with VLAN (7) Tagging - NOT PPPoE! Currently the T-Com Speedport W700V (a router) will shipped with the VDSL Modem.
    Thank you for your help.
    cheers
    Chris

Aggregation shouldn't have any adverse effect here. You need to configure VDI to use the correct VLANs on a per Pools basis. In the VDI Manager first navigate to the Desktop Provider -> Networks tab and 'Refresh' the networks. This will scan all VirtualBox hosts in the provider for currently plumbed interfaces, each of which will be listed by their subnet.
After all networks are detected navigate to the Pool -> Settings tab and select 'Host Networking' followed by the required subnet(s). The primary subnet listed here is used for RDP connections.

  • VLAN Tags and Hyper-V Switches

Does the Hyper-V 2012 Virtual Switch support forwarding VLAN-tagged packets to a guest OS with the VLAN tags intact?  In other words, can I have a single virtual NIC handle multiple VLANs by doing the VLAN filtering inside the guest OS?
I would like to run a guest OS that sits on multiple VLANs, and while I could create and delete virtual NICs which are assigned to a single VLAN, it would be much more flexible in my environment to have Hyper-V simply forward frames with the VLAN (802.1q)
tags intact so that the guest OS can see the tags and deal with them appropriately.  (looking at running a virtual router that sits across multiple VLANs).
I can't see any obvious way to do this.  I thought that leaving the VLAN tag for the guest off would cause packets to be forwarded unfiltered, but that appears to not be the case.  Does anyone know how to enable forwarding tagged frames through
    a virtual switch/NIC to a guest OS?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    >  Does it depend on any particular settings on the physical NIC?
No special settings on the physical NIC, but not every NIC support VLAN tagging. You should generally not set the VLAN ID at the physical NIC, it should be set on either the Virtual Switch or the individual Virtual Machine’s configuration. The VLAN ID on
the Virtual Switch is what the Host or Parent Partition uses. The VLAN ID setting on the individual Virtual Machine’s settings is what each VM will use.

  • UC560 WAN PORT support for dot1q?

    Hi,
should be a fairly simple question but does UC560 WAN port support dot1q trunking back to switch? Can't see any doc on this.
Aim is to run 3 VLAN's back to switch one for data, voice,SSL VPN for remote teleworker.
    Thanks,

I believe the WAN port is a L3 interface.  You will have to use subinterfaces to do specific vlan communication between a switch.
You may look at this document.  By the way, this is not possible via CCA and can only be done via CLI.

  • RVS4000 WAN VLAN tagging.

I have upgraded this device to Firmware Version: V2.0.2.7 (yes its a v2)
As far as I can see it is missing a critical function; I can not put a tagged VLAN on the wan interface. I intended to use this in router mode with a static wan and all firewalling disabled as my CPE equipment on a 100mbit metro-e.
The provider requires the traffic be tagged on the CPE side. I did not want to use a low end dd-wrt device (who's gui only supports upto vlan 15 but you can define higher by hand) as it is not "standard" and supported. I like to provide clean solutions that can be maintained by persons other then myself if needed.
Is there any way to access the CLI on these small business routers and accomplish this by hand?
    Thank you.

As you can read above, I'm having problems with my IPTV pixelation/cuts... I need to be able to connect directly to the fiber and have more control over the connection, but I don't see the option on the web admin for PPPOE over VLAN. I don't know if it's a hardware limitation or just software (the GUI).
