RV016 gateway to gateway rv082 won't connect

Dear Gurus
New hardware here, requesting a bit of your knowledge
We are tryingin to setup a simple gateway to gateway  VPN
HomeA Has an RV016 with a public static IP
Local Group Security Gateway type is IP Only with the IP
Local Security Group Type is Subnet, with the local IP class 192.160.0.0
Remote Security Gateway Type: Dynamic + Email
Email address  [email protected]
Remote Security Group Type: Subnet
IP Address 192.168.1.0
IPSec Setup as default with nice password.
HomeB has an RV082 with a dynamic ADSL link
Local Group Security Gateway type is DynamicIP +Email
Email address  [email protected]
Local Security Group Type is Subnet, with the local IP class 192.160.1.0
Remote Security Gateway Type: IP Only
Remote Security Group Type: Subnet
IP Address 192.168.0.0
IPSec Setup as default with nice password.
The idea is for HomeB which has a dynamic IP, to reach HomeA, which has a static IP and connect.
But they just wont. I have not clue what's wrong, I followed the instructions, maybe i miss interpreted something.
I could share the VPN logs for both., Im getting a lot of errors there.
All pointers or suggestions are appreciated.
Im pasting here a snap of the receiving end HomeA, when i press connect on HomeB

Alejandro,
Any chance you could share your solution?  I am having the exact same problem on a tunnel between two RV082s.

  • Problems with XB3 gateway; it won't connect to internet properly in bridge mode

I recently moved to a new area and had to replace my old gateway from the other comcast franchise with a new one.  The new one has built-in wifi.  Ever since I got the new gateway, my connection has been slow and unreliable, especially when more than one person is trying to use a computer at once, and I do not like that this wifi is interfering with the setup I was previously happy with using my airport time capsule as a router, with my old airport express in bridge mode for airtunes use.  In that setup with the same people and devices and use habits I did not have these problems. I looked for directions on how to disable the built-in wifi (I also don't like just putting out connections I do not use, it feels like a waste of my signal and a security risk!) and followed the instructions i found on this forum which seemed very simple.  I logged in to the gateway and turned bridge mode on, restarted everything, switched the time capsule back OUT of bridge mode... and my time capsule and airport were all green, as well as the online login to the gateway saying it was connected to the internet, but my time capsule showed that there was no internet connection and in terms of loading web pages... deifnitely the time capsule was correct in that I was not getting a connection.  My computers and devices weren't showing up on the gateway's page as "connected devices" either. I've tried multiple times, reset everything multiple times, and rechecked directions but for now I had to re-enable the wifi and suddenly i can get online again.  (And no, it's not that my computer is actually using those netowrks - I'm on my Time Capsule's network and checking the status through the airport utility.) I really want to get this extra wifi disabled and see if that resolves my crappy connection problems because the service is just useless in the evening as it is now! If anyone knows what might be wrong, I'd appreciate the help.  Everything should be on pretty standard settings as far as my Time Capsule and Airport go - Airport is just in client mode, TC has to be in bridge mode when the other wifi is on or I get errors, but i haven't done anything fancy with any of its settings.

Hi, since you have 2 Linksys devices and it's hard to pinpoint the exact problem. You might the try doing changes on both Linksys devices.
    WRT54GX2
    - update or reflash the firmware
    - change the channel from auto to 11 or 1
    - change the beacon interval value to 50
    WMP54GX
    - download and update to the latest drivers

  • IPad 1 won't connect to Comcast Xfinity TG862G/CT Wireless Gateway

    Hi all,
So I had my Comcast service set up a couple weekends ago (new employee, switching from FiOS).
The tech originally brought me a DOCSIS 2.0 eMTA and I attached my own separate Netgear WNR3500U Router, and connected without issue. Connected devices include:
    (2) iPhone 4's
    (2) MacBook Pro's
    (1) New iPad
    (1) iPad 1
    (1) WinXP Desktop PC
    (1) Blu-Ray Player
    (1) XBox 360
    (1) Nintendo 3DS
I've boldened the device that is about to have the issue.
Comcast has upgraded their High-Speed Internet (HSI) speeds in the Boston region now, so I was upgraded to an ARRIS TG862G/CT Wireless Gateway over the weekend.
Set up of the Gateway went very easy. Set up using WPA2-AES Security using a supplied 16-digit security key. All of the above devices connected at amazing speeds without any issue, until I got to the iPad 1.
When I select the Wireless Network, I get the swirling animation as if the iPad 1 is trying to connect to the network, but it just never connects. I've tried the following steps:
Complete factory reset of Wireless Gateway and restarted install & setup.
Complete factory reset of iPad 1, including upgrade to iOS 5.1.1(9B206).
Tried changing following settings on Wireless Gateway
Tried reducing security to WAP2, WEP, down to OPEN WiFi.
Tried changing WiFi channel from Automatic to Channel 1, 6 or 11.
Tried changing name of WiFi network from factory installed, to custom.
Tried manually adding iPad 1 to Connected Devices menu on TG862G/CT.
Connected iPad 1 to outside WiFi networks without issue. It works. Just not on this Gateway.
If I go back to the WiFi network I am trying to connect to, it even shows at times that it is picking up a valid IP address from the Gateway, but still no connection to the internet at all.
Overall I have tried everything I can think of to connect my iPad 1 and to this point, nothing has worked. I have contacted Apple to ensure working functionality of the device, which they confirmed my assumption: It's working 100%. I've also contacted Comcast to confirm working functionality of the Gateway, which is fine seeing as how I have no less than 5 other devices connecting to it without issue right now.
If anyone has any suggestions, outside of what I have already tried above, I would love for someone to help me solve this frustrating issue.

24 hours later, no replies. I'm assuming nobody has a solution at this point as I have talked Apple and Comcast's Xfinity Signature Support's ear off for the last 48 hours. I really dislike when electronics won't work as intended "just because". There's a reason, and someone knows.

  • Internet Gateway Listed in Network Connections

Anyone know why I would have an Internet Gateway listed in Network Connections?  If I disable it I cannot access the Internet.  No other PC in my home has this, except one desktop.  Running XP.
    Thanks
    Jim
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    My advise is..
If you do not have at least two game consoles behind this router, turn off UPnP in the router.
This is done in the router at Advanced -> UPnP.
    By game consoles, any two..
    #1 For example: X-box, PlayStation.
#2 A special type of computer with no keyboard or mouse. And it is usually connected to a TV.

  • HELP!  Gateway stops accepting new connections

Config: PS6.1 on Solaris 9 (Sparc), seperate gateway on Solaris 9 (Sparc) The PS6.1 was migrated from a PS3.0 installation, The machines are V240 with 2GB RAM and 4GB swap.
I start the GW with: ./S43gateway -n default start debug
Several minutes after startup (it varies from 1 to 40) I get the following message:

This was working fine until we changed the IP of the gateway and moved its ethernet connection to "outside" the firewall. I re-installed the gateway software to make sure I didn't miss anything other than platform.conf. I have the webproxy enabled for the bookmarks channel and that is working. I have holes in the firewall for the proxy, LDAP and HTTPS ports.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Roger S.

The gateway has to be tuned substantially to get good performance.
The tuning needs to be based on your load
e.g how many netlet connections, how many concurrent users you expected to handle etc ..
the default min heap size and max heap size need to change it. You can go upto a max of 2 Gb but I would recommend starting with a smaller heap size of 500 M and see how your performance goes.
The min and max heap size should always be the same for better performance. If your using netlets then you have to change the thread parameter. Each netlet connection uses two threads so if your using a large number of netlet connections then your thread count needs to 500 at a minimum to support 200 concurrent netlet sessions. Increasing the thread pool will also use more memory as each thread uses a min of 512 K of memory. The thread stack size needs to be set to 128 K.
These are the initial things to start with, you can also set jvm option -verbose:gc to enable gc logs. This will show memory usage.
These are good things to start with ..

  • My new iPod Touch (4th gen) Won't Connect To My Home Wireless Network

    Hi Out There,
I just recieved my new iPod Touch yesterday, inputed my SSID (Network Name), security type WPA2 and password key and It won't connect. Can anyone tell me if I have to do anything else like fill in all the other fields like IP address, mac address, subnet mask, default gateway or anything else like that or should it have connected with the info i provide as I feel this is the sufficient enough information for it to connect but as far as those other fields that I've mentioned does it auto-fill in those other fields when after it connects? Cannot get on.
    Thanks for your responses

Finally figured it out and Apple doesn't even mention this in their article. I did what some other guy did. I took the Touch's physical address or (Mac address as they often refer to it and put the mac address of the Touch in my router's mac address filter list and "Bang" the internet came right on. Problem solved.

    Hi,
What security software is running on the PC? The security software could be causing the issue, try to reconfigure or temporarily disable it.
You can also try flushing the DNS as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1527
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368 provides more troubleshooting tips.

I am having the exact same problem and idk what to do for it. My internet is fine also!

  • Safari won't connect to internet

Hi, Safari on Ipad will not connect to my wi-fi.  My wi-fi works fine with Galaxy phone and Gateway computer.   I noticed that next to the wi-fi name there is a little swirly thing that keeps spinning like it is trying to update. I have rebooted Ipad several times and also my wi-fi.  Help!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • ITunes won't connect to internet

I can't access the iTunes Store, Internet Radio, or download missing album art. This was a problem I had in iTunes 6 as well, I figured iTunes 7 would fix it. No go.
Under Help > Run Diagnostics, it confirms that I'm connected to the internet, but the store won't connect. I searched but found nothing that helped.
Then I figured maybe it's my college campus internet blocking, but that isn't it because all of my flatmates can access the store no problem.
    Thanks for helping!

  • "another device is using the same ip address.." - iOS devices won't connect to AEBS wifi.

I've got a Motorola modem/gateway - 3360 from WalMart.  I have the AEBS working in bridge mode connecting my iMac & Printer fine, but my iOS devices won't connect.
While troubleshooting & trying all types of settings, I was able to get EITHER the iMac or the iOS devices connected to internet, but not both at same time.
Then I noticed I am getting "another device is using the same ip address.." message.
I have changed the AEBS ip address & had been able to get either the iMac or iOS devices working depending on which ip address I use.
BUT now, all my iOS devices dont connect to the internet regardless of the ip address of the AEBS.
All my iOS devices see the network, and accept the network password, but they do not connect to internet, circle just keeps spinning...
    Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks for any assistance,
    Dave

It looks like may have to go back to square one and delete my network & set it up from scratch if I don't figure it out.
If you do go this route, I would like to make a suggestion for your consideration, and that is to assign static IP addresses to devices that are "permanent" on your network or ones you want to make sure can be reachable at all times. These (again) would be servers, routers, wireless access points, network printers/scanners, NAS devices, etc.
I would recommend the following IP addressing scheme as a baseline and you are certainly free to deviate in any way you see fit to meet your networking requirements:
Reduce the number of IP handed out by DHCP. By default, most routers will provide 100-200 private IP addresses within their DHCP leasing scope. The AirPort, by default, assigns 10.0.1.2 thru 10.0.1.200 via DHCP. Your Motorola may assign 192.168.0.2 thru 192.168.0.150. Either way, I would reduce this to no more than fifty (50) total which should provide you with plenty of addresses even if you are hosting gaming convention at your home.
I use the following IP address scheme for the "permanent" network clients:
    Network Printers: 10.0.1.200 - 209
    NAS Devices: 10.0.1.210 - 219
Wireless Access Points or routers reconfigured as bridges: 10.0.1.220 - 229
    Servers: 10.0.1.230 - 239
With the "permanent" devices pre-assigned with static Private IP address that are outside of the DHCP range, you shouldn't ever get an IP address conflict again.

  • Iphone won't connect to wifi

My iphone won't connect to my home wifi. It say's connected but when i try and go online it say's unable to connect. I've tried forgetting the network, turning wifi off and on. The ip address is ok and my laptop connects ok.
Has anyone got any ideas about how i can fix it?

I am having the same issues as GirlyGirl.  Every other day or so my iPhone 3GS won't connect to wifi.  Before I was showing the wifi signal as if it were attached but I couldn't surf Safari.  Now even though under the wifi settings it shows I'm connected, I don't get the wifi fan showing I'm connected.  I've done the following:
    Renewed lease
    Forgotten network
    Reset Network Settings
    Reboot my iPhone
Two days ago when I rebooted the router and Reset Network Settings it started working correctly.
I've been working with my internet provider, they tell me my firmware on my 2wire is up to date & the issue is definitely with my iPhone.
Security Settings:  WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA2-PSK (AES)
My iPhone is attaching to the 169.x IP Address and the Subnet is 255.255.0.0. The router, DNS and Search Domains are blank.
Also to note, I changed the name of my device through the gateway router so I could identify it more easily.  As of today it had defaulted back to the old name which is the ip address. Even if I don't change anything it isn't keeping those settings.
Other than restarting my router and taking everything down for 15 minutes each time, what else can I try?

  • WRT54G Won't connect please help!

I have a WRT54G router that I am trying to use to connect a computer to one of my company’s networks. I need to use a router because the computer’s IP address is on a second network to which the computer also needs to connect. Because the main network already has a gateway, I need to have the WRT54G router in router mode instead of gateway mode. However, when I attempt to set the router up, I am unable to connect to the internet, I cannot ping any other machine on the main network and I cannot access any shared folders (so the router is not making the connection). I am pretty sure I have the IP address of the router and computer set up correctly as well as any subnet masks and gateways (I have double checked this multiple times) and all of the appropriate lights on the router are lit. When plugged directly into the network via Ethernet the computer can connect without any problems, so it is definitely a problem with the router or its configuration. I have tried resetting the router and I have installed the most recent firmware update.
What could be causing my problem?
Is it even possible to route to a second network in router mode?
If not, what do you I suggest I do in order to have this machine connected to both networks?
    Details:
    Network one uses IP 10.1.x.x
    Network two uses IP 10.3.x.x
    Computer:
    IP: 10.3.0.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
    Default Gateway: 10.3.0.1
    DNS Server: 10.3.0.1
    Router:
    Internet IP address: 10.1.7.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
    Gateway: 10.1.0.1
Static DNS: 10.1.0.18 (This is a server on the 10.1.x.x network)
    Local IP address: 10.3.0.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router is set to router mode under Advanced Routing. I have tried many different IP/Subnet/Gateway combinations for the static routes under Advanced Routing and none of them have worked so far. In case I have missed the correct one, what exactly should they be based on the above information?
Simply using Gateway mode causes problems because a gateway already exists.

Try connecting in the different way use 10.1.X.X router behind the 10.3.X.X router ....connecting directly to the Modem ....

  • My HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 won't connect to my wireless router

This is bizarre.  I have had my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 for about 6 months.  It has generally worked fine, and we have used it wirelessly only.  But now it refuses to connect to the router.  It can FIND the router, and it can find other networks in the area, but it won't connect to the router.  I ran the Wireless Network Test, and the results say:
Wireless On - Pass // Wireless Working - Pass //
Network Name (SSID) found - Pass //  Wireless Networks Detected - 9
Printer Settings Consistent with Wireless Router Settings - Pass / No Filtering - FAIL //
So it recommends solution as follows: "1 If MAC Address filtering is enabled, and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the Mac address of your printer to the list of permitted devices for your router before continuing."
Except, guess what, I don't have MAC Address filtering enabled.  I wouldn't know how to do that, much less check for it.
Also, before today, this was never a problem.  HELP!
    Thanks....
If you are interested, here's more detail and background.
Before today, the only problem we have had is that frequently our Apple laptop (OS X 10.6) has trouble connecting to the printer.  This has been odd because the printer is connected to the network, and so is the laptop, but the laptop can't find the printer - it thinks the printer is "offline" (even though it's not).  Usually, if I wait a while, it will find the printer, and it will resolve itself work fine.  If not, we sometimes have found that it can fix itself if you restart the laptop -- restarting the printer does not make a difference.   In fact, I did exactly that today, and it resolved itself.  And I printed.  Fine, right?
But then I wanted to do more printing, and the problem of the laptop not finding the printer came up again, so I decided to really "get to the bottom of this."  I don't remember exactly what I did, but somehow I was persuaded by the online help, that the correct solution would be to go into my System Preferences / Print and Fax, and click on the "-", which de-installs the printer, with the idea of re-installing the printer.  But then when I tried to re-install the printer, it could not find the printer.  Ugh!  Wierdly, it found an 8600 Scanner, but not an 8600 printers.  After installing and de-installing the 8600 scanner a few times, I eventually deinstalled everything, and I decided to start from scratch.  I got my HP disk, and installed all the software again from the beginning (even though it was already there), and then it looked for my printer, but couldn't find it.  So then I got a USB cord, and plugged that in.
So, now I have a situation where I do have a working printer via the USB cord, but no wireless connection at all.  In particular, since the Office Jet Pro 8600 won't connect to the router, I don't know what else to do.  My Apple MacBook pro is 2 feet away from the printer, and it is connected to the router just fine (as is my blackberry), and I have never before had a problem connecting to the wireless router by the printer.
    Any suggestions?

There are two things that can trip the mac filtering test to fail:  actual MAC address filtering setup (sounds like this is not the case) and using wireless channel 6 or automatic for wireless channel in the wireless network settings (in the router).  Since it does show failed for MAC filtering and you do not use this option, try changing the wireless channel in the router to 1 or 11.  Those two channels provide the best compatibility with printers due to less interference.  Almost everything defaults to auto or 6 for the channel and this causes a lot of interference.  This change should not affect anything at all.  To do this, you may need to contact the router manufacturer as the process differs from router to router.
What brand and model is the router?
Has anything in the network settings changed at all?
What version is the Mac OS X?  There may be additional steps to take as it sounds like there are two separate issues involved and this could be revisited later.
